^They were never professions - they were lucrative short term opportunities that came as a response to events taking place in the country. His topic is the revival of Somali governance in the south not symptoms such as piracy and terrorism.
-
^Bashir went with the Somalis who thought all other Somalis in Somali-yaa are terrorists and pirates. Although not sure what his current position is.

^Isn't that sad? My man left so my politics changes. I've never understood that. I can understand if you get money or opportunity you didn't have before and thus your support. But some geeljire who's got nothing will hyperventilate if you say something about some politician from his qabiil. And when you ask what has he done for you - they can't answer. Somalis and empty useless xamaasad.
-
Perhaps soon then we can expect Bashir to come 'back' himself to the fold of logic and sanity.

LOL - the Daily Nation needs reporters not gossip columnists.

The reason why Barbaarta had a considerable support
ElPunto replied to Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar's topic in Politics
MMA - barbaarta didn't do anything to change this mentality - no one could speak out but it didn't mean people's perceptions or attitudes changed. The argument of these men is tired and old. All over the world people sort out the issue of governance through the ballot box. At the end it doesn't matter who the majority is or isn't - what matters is whether the majority is given the chance to elect whom they want. -
Interesting thread Arch. Was in a rental Hyundai not too long ago. They sure have come a long way. Would still be hesitant to buy a Sonata - whiff of bad rep still around, They should concentrate on developing markets where they may not have the same reputational issues.

Ace of Spadez;840880 wrote: Carafaat, common sense dictates that leaders are a reflection of society. If Somalia has only produced warlords, pirates, and wanton destruction how is that generalization? Yes - an entire country of millions has only produced that?! Are you sure you comprehend the meaning of generalization? Are you able to get the basic rudimentary elements of logical reasoning?

What crap. Somalis blame qabiil and many other things for the state of the country. A new culprit should be added to the list. Absolutely useless crap garbage media and newspapers.

Nice - now they just have to work on not having another famine.

Who are these people? Isdhuuqid is right. Papparazi should copyright and make some money.

^Delete the clan names!!!!! Poor lady. To think her main argument was 500,000 kids will become terrorists if you don't recognize us! As the tide turns towards a reconstitution of the Somali republic - the more common these sorts of desparate statements will be.

I understand Norf - but an attractive building increases the value and potential rental income of your building/home not to mention decent landscaping. There are a lot of Somalis who would buy homes in the country if only standards were raised and infrastructure put in place. Ppl are shelling out hundreds of thousands for middle east homes if a model community like this was available in Somalia - that wouldn't happen. This is the video of the model community - it could be replicated in Somalia: http://www.alysbeach.com/Community/AlysBeachVideo/tabid/72/Default.aspx Also if you take a look at the specs on the homes - they give a number of ways that theyre adapted to the hot climate of Florida where it located from reflective white roofs to narrow deep set windows to thick block cement that keeps out heat. All adaptabel to Somalia.

Unfortunately a number of elements of the current govt were around at the time this alleged corruption was taking place. The current administration is not blameless much less the parliament that is supposed to hold it accountable.

Why this type of crap over and over? Would anyone comment on rasta looking somali male with pants at his knees speaking patois and lament the lost religious and cultural heritage? Dee naga daya dee - as Ngogne would say.
-
Ugly - indeed alien taste. And it's not just commercial buildings - it's fancy private homes and villas. I don't quite know how the current architectural tastes seems to have bypassed them for monstrous styles seen nowhere else but the Somali peninsula.
-
When they say collected - does that mean from internal sources ie taxation etc or does it include moneys given as donations? If it is only internal sources - I don't see what business it is for them to comment when almost all developing countries have the same problem. What the focus should be is on helping them develop institutions to manage the money and account for it. This talk about loans from the World Bank and IMF is a non-starter. There are many hurdles to qualify for these loans - at this point it's nonsense to even mention them.

Where is the report?

Why the mention of orphan? Ma dad baa ku shir tagaya we taught her this - give us funds???
-
Oh come now - you must show your personal appreciation to the Queen. Something spectacular and original. Perhaps a public ode in Trafalgar Square or a special Ngongish story extolling the magnificence of the hatted one.
