Dear Scarface, Since I was not reading computing, i can not give you a strict educated opinion; however, i can tell you that the Oxbridge system of teaching is quite superior to other universities in England. This is due to the fact that you have alot of time with your supervisors. The teaching is based on tutorials which are quite small in number. In my case it was my tutor and I in the class-- perhaps science based subjects might be 3 to 1; but even so the time is greater. Also, Cambridge and Oxford have the habit of snatching good professors from other universities, consequently, you will be taught the most respected professors in the feild. I think Cambridge has better degree in this subject than Oxford because of the money it has. Bill gates built a centre for Information Tech in Cambridge which is part of the Univ. Also, I have been told Cambridge has the highest concentration of IT companies in Europe. I hope that helpt it. You can look at their websites. www.cam.ac.uk and www.ox.ac.uk Cheerio

What an oxymoron phrase !Halal Boyfriend!! Perhaps the chap who wrote this is reffering to another "back home" other than Somalia! or perhaps not?

Salaams, Hello my Law fellows, how are we doing this fine afternoon/evening/morning? I am reading Law and I was wondering whether there is another mad enough Somali who is reading it? Cheerio PS ..... No matter that he was under some gross error or ignorance or was activated by envy, hatred and malice, and all uncharitableness, he is not liable to an action.. (Lord Denning)

Barwaaqo! LSE that foreign filled reprehensible place where money rules! At least Oxbridge colleges admit fairly rich boys from Britain; LSE will admit anyone who could pay their horrendous overseas fees. The whole school is geared with promoting research—and the money comes from the overseas students! Most of them can not even grasp what the lecturers are on about!. Anyhow, their undergruate courses are taught poorly—according someone who studied there and now is doing Law with me here. Then again I would be bitter about them since they rejected me! But hey! Who cares I landed on the best Law school in Europe--- or so they tell us whenever they have the chance to brag.

Salaams to you all, I was asked by some friends to offer help to those who are have the desire to apply to Oxbridge Colleges. I shall provide interview couching and general help in regards to ins and outs of what it is like to be inteviewed by pipe-chain smoking guy who perhaps had never interviewed a Somali before. Also what to put down in your personal statement. I have been admitted to read PPE at Oxford 2001 and I am now doing Law at Cambridge. Consequently, I would lend my meagre expertise to those aspiring young students with promising academic skills. If you are or know anyone who applying to these colleges then please post their/your needs here and I shall attempt to reply to them regularly. Thus Spake

Salaams, Dear Somali Sisters, Oxford is brilliant place to study but Cambridge is better! LoL! On the serious note. I was at Worcester College, Oxford Univ.before I went to Cambridge Law school It is brilliant place to study and live if you like medieval settings—though Oxford is becoming very modern city these days; though colleges remain strictly archaic. I knew one chap who was at his last year undergraduate Degree and he use to teach College students from North America and Japan in the Summer for summer courses. What summer programme are you on? If it is the Social Science one, I would tell you don’t bother coming here thinking you will learn something from great professor; they actually commission senior undergraduates to teach these course in very relaxed sort of way—but if you are going there for the experience and perhaps for the Resume then go right ahead! You will enjoy! Try to stay one of these colleges Worcester, Magdelen or Christ Church—this being the location Harry potter was shot. Make ysure you go for punting whenever you have the chance!. About the admission requirements! You can visit this website dedicated for Oxbridge students! If you have any questions just post there! I am member! http://www.uk-learning.net/f22.html

Iqtidaa'du Siraatul Mustaqiim is good book accesible book. Love Ibnu Taymiyah! Great all rounder Muslim Man.

I would just have to agree with the clear Ahaadith which our sister Ameenah had presented. I think the issue is one that is quite pressing to some; none the less desires had been created by other human beings. It is worrisome that some of us are becoming prey to the Advitising industry—I have some “friends” who work in the industry and it is astonishing the morale of these people who set the trend; most of them are indeed amoral. We should not conform the conventions created by other men. These are wants not needs. The desire is created. Which leads me to Athena point; What crosponds illness? Sixty years ago in Western Europe psychological problems were not legally recognised as illness; when the likes of Freud and his crones surfaced the judges indeed bitter swalled this psycological bullshit.! More importantly, if one becomes in love with drinking fine French wine and listens to Bach or perhaps Van Beethoven and without indulging these pleasures one becomes ill psycoloically! Shall we then grant these pleasures to be legal under Islamic Law? Perhaps you might argue listening classical music isn’t prohibited, but that is another topic altogether. Anyhow Athena! why the need! you don't seem to lack any Esthetic........ Athena! why spend all these precious time infornt of the Telly! perhaps you should ask whether it is Islamiclly sound to do such a thing! Muslim Queen: I am not even going to respond to you! It is not worth it. Thus Spake I

It is quatre past Four in the morning where I am and my mind is not at its best; consequently, I take no complete responsibility what I am about to write. Have I read being and Nothingness? I have perused through while I was doing Philosophy as part of a degree I was reading at the time. I find the book too much of a Existentialism! It deals vaguely the ideas consciousness and free will—two areas of Philosophy which I was very much interested in at the time. Satre basis most of his conception of self-conciousness on that other Existentialist German Philosopher Heidegger. The book is dense and bloated with fllacious arguments. I would not recommend it to one who is loosely interested in Philosophy. It is boring read--- then again some may argue almost all philosophical books fall into such category. On the membership of Somnet, I have been going there since it's inception in late 90’s. It was great place to hang out at the time. New to this western world (relatively that is); I was bemused how Somalis communicated with each other. It was delish to see the young (at time not corrupted) soul of Basra who delightfuly utilised her time rather beautifully and made us all drink from her fountain of jocularity. But since early this Century the whole place had become a hell house for the retard of our Community and men who gloat about their infidel credentials. Alas, I had to leave. This place provided me with much needed solace. On the point of Sophist and Farah being same character, I shan’t indeed spoil the fun of seeing you grable with this interesting concep of yours—that is if it is concept at all t be hold seriously. On Blasphemy, as much as I like to encourage free expression, there are boundaries one should not cross. One that is indeed sacred is the honour of Allah. I can not and will not stand by where Allah’s name is taken in vain. Every Muslim has a moral duty to stand against such Slur against the Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala. Anyhow, it is late, need to hit back the books, Cheerio Thus Spake I

Riyaale’s Political and Military Suicide One may question why there is a relative peace in Northwest of Somalia while the flames started in early 1991 in the South of the country is burning to date? One will certainly come back with answer rests in how USC conducted itself soon after taking control of the capital, (instead of working towards the re-establishment of law and order and rule of law) late Gen. Aideed took a wrong, bloody and costly turn - settling of tribal scores, using Somali dark history as his guiding light into the future, revenge was the buzz word (kill and destroy was key campaign message). In the process of his hate-driven campaign reduced beautiful Mogadishu into rubble and most of its inhabitant ended up as mindless thugs – a legacy very much alive over decade on. In the end he paid his life for a mission impossible – name of the game the elimination...... http://www.radiolascaanod.com/

Chapter 3 Part I Chapter III With people who know how to revenge themselves and to stand up for themselves in general, how is it done? Why, when they are possessed, let us suppose, by the feeling of revenge, then for the time there is nothing else but that feeling left in their whole being. Such a gentleman simply dashes straight for his object like an infuriated bull with its horns down, and nothing but a wall will stop him. (By the way: facing the wall, such gentlemen--that is, the "direct" persons and men of action--are genuinely nonplussed. For them a wall is not an evasion, as for us people who think and consequently do nothing; it is not an excuse for turning aside, an excuse for which we are always very glad, though we scarcely believe in it ourselves, as a rule. No, they are nonplussed in all sincerity. The wall has for them something tranquillising, morally soothing, final-- maybe even something mysterious ... but of the wall later.) Well, such a direct person I regard as the real normal man, as his tender mother nature wished to see him when she graciously brought him into being on the earth. I envy such a man till I am green in the face. He is ****** . I am not disputing that, but perhaps the normal man should be ****** , how do you know? Perhaps it is very beautiful, in fact. And I am the more persuaded of that suspicion, if one can call it so, by the fact that if you take, for instance, the antithesis of the normal man, that is, the man of acute consciousness, who has come, of course, not out of the lap of nature but out of a retort (this is almost mysticism, gentlemen, but I suspect this, too), this retort-made man is sometimes so nonplussed in the presence of his antithesis that with all his exaggerated consciousness he genuinely thinks of himself as a mouse and not a man. It may be an acutely conscious mouse, yet it is a mouse, while the other is a man, and therefore, et caetera, et caetera. And the worst of it is, he himself, his very own self, looks on himself as a mouse; no one asks him to do so; and that is an important point. Now let us look at this mouse in action. Let us suppose, for instance, that it feels insulted, too (and it almost always does feel insulted), and wants to revenge itself, too. There may even be a greater accumulation of spite in it than in L'Homme de la Nature et de la Verite. The base and nasty desire to vent that spite on its assailant rankles perhaps even more nastily in it than in L'Homme de la Nature et de la Verite. For through his innate ********* the latter looks upon his revenge as justice pure and simple; while in consequence of his acute consciousness the mouse does not believe in the justice of it. To come at last to the deed itself, to the very act of revenge. Apart from the one fundamental nastiness the luckless mouse succeeds in creating around it so many other nastinesses in the form of doubts and questions, adds to the one question so many unsettled questions that there inevitably works up around it a sort of fatal brew, a stinking mess, made up of its doubts, emotions, and of the contempt spat upon it by the direct men of action who stand solemnly about it as judges and arbitrators, laughing at it till their healthy sides ache. Of course the only thing left for it is to dismiss all that with a wave of its paw, and, with a smile of assumed contempt in which it does not even itself believe, creep ignominiously into its mouse-hole. There in its nasty, stinking, underground home our insulted, crushed and ridiculed mouse promptly becomes absorbed in cold, malignant and, above all, everlasting spite. For forty years together it will remember its injury down to the smallest, most ignominious details, and every time will add, of itself, details still more ignominious, spitefully teasing and tormenting itself with its own imagination. It will itself be ashamed of its imaginings, but yet it will recall it all, it will go over and over every detail, it will invent unheard of things against itself, pretending that those things might happen, and will forgive nothing. Maybe it will begin to revenge itself, too, but, as it were, piecemeal, in trivial ways, from behind the stove, incognito, without believing either in its own right to vengeance, or in the success of its revenge, knowing that from all its efforts at revenge it will suffer a hundred times more than he on whom it revenges itself, while he, I daresay, will not even scratch himself. On its deathbed it will recall it all over again, with interest accumulated over all the years and ... But it is just in that cold, abominable half despair, half belief, in that conscious burying oneself alive for grief in the underworld for forty years, in that acutely recognised and yet partly doubtful hopelessness of one's position, in that hell of unsatisfied desires turned inward, in that fever of oscillations, of resolutions determined for ever and repented of again a minute later--that the savour of that strange enjoyment of which I have spoken lies. It is so subtle, so difficult of analysis, that persons who are a little limited, or even simply persons of strong nerves, will not understand a single atom of it. "Possibly," you will add on your own account with a grin, "people will not understand it either who have never received a slap in the face," and in that way you will politely hint to me that I, too, perhaps, have had the experience of a slap in the face in my life, and so I speak as one who knows. I bet that you are thinking that. But set your minds at rest, gentlemen, I have not received a slap in the face, though it is absolutely a matter of indifference to me what you may think about it. Possibly, I even regret, myself, that I have given so few slaps in the face during my life. But enough ... not another word on that subject of such extreme interest to you. I will continue calmly concerning persons with strong nerves who do not understand a certain refinement of enjoyment. Though in certain circumstances these gentlemen bellow their loudest like bulls, though this, let us suppose, does them the greatest credit, yet, as I have said already, confronted with the impossible they subside at once. The impossible means the stone wall! What stone wall? Why, of course, the laws of nature, the deductions of natural science, mathematics. As soon as they prove to you, for instance, that you are descended from a monkey, then it is no use scowling, accept it for a fact. When they prove to you that in reality one drop of your own fat must be dearer to you than a hundred thousand of your fellow-creatures, and that this conclusion is the final solution of all so-called virtues and duties and all such prejudices and fancies, then you have just to accept it, there is no help for it, for twice two is a law of mathematics. Just try refuting it. "Upon my word, they will shout at you, it is no use protesting: it is a case of twice two makes four! Nature does not ask your permission, she has nothing to do with your wishes, and whether you like her laws or dislike them, you are bound to accept her as she is, and consequently all her conclusions. A wall, you see, is a wall ... and so on, and so on." Merciful Heavens! but what do I care for the laws of nature and arithmetic, when, for some reason I dislike those laws and the fact that twice two makes four? Of course I cannot break through the wall by battering my head against it if I really have not the strength to knock it down, but I am not going to be reconciled to it simply because it is a stone wall and I have not the strength. As though such a stone wall really were a consolation, and really did contain some word of conciliation, simply because it is as true as twice two makes four. Oh, absurdity of absurdities! How much better it is to understand it all, to recognise it all, all the impossibilities and the stone wall; not to be reconciled to one of those impossibilities and stone walls if it disgusts you to be reconciled to it; by the way of the most inevitable, logical combinations to reach the most revolting conclusions on the everlasting theme, that even for the stone wall you are yourself somehow to blame, though again it is as clear as day you are not to blame in the least, and therefore grinding your teeth in silent impotence to sink into luxurious inertia, brooding on the fact that there is no one even for you to feel vindictive against, that you have not, and perhaps never will have, an object for your spite, that it is a sleight of hand, a bit of juggling, a card- sharper's trick, that it is simply a mess, no knowing what and no knowing who, but in spite of all these uncertainties and jugglings, still there is an ache in you, and the more you do not know, the worse the ache.

Dear Vicking Sophistication and Sophisticated are to different things—that is the way in which I have employed the words in question. Anyhow, welcome. Whether you have what “it takes” is to be seen. Here unlike Somalinet people are serious about what they write—though I sometimes try to humourise it a bit- consequently what you write would not be disregarded; but people will cling to it if they find it a bit repugnant. Objectionable posts will be questioned by those who find it so in a clean fun sort of way. Anyhow, welcome abode and ou might enjoy your stay. Sophist PS: your Sage Nur is member, perhaps venture into the Islamic forum and you shall find him there insha Allah.

Dear Odweyne, Your ilk are have-witted, mine have genie, you observe, we reason. From this conjunction results the clearest insight between the gulf that lies between us. It is customarily for your likes to spew hatred that is based phantoms of your imagination. I was deeply astonished for your lack of proficiency in Somali politics coupled with not so forceful voice that was coming from your end. Hiding behind mucky sentences that disgorge reeking scent which most of the readers find extremely nauseating; what dirt words you employ while speaking of men who perhaps might have wronged but indeed need not to be insulted while in their grave. You habitually speak of the dead, which mind you is against Islamic principles: as that famous Hadith goes “Laa tsabuu Al amwaata Fa inahum qad afaaduu maa camiloo” I am sure you need not a translation here—you sounded old enough to know this basic Arabic. Dear boy, Mohamed Siyad Barre was the man who indeed let you out from your political cage; before you become like an spoiled child, the man had conferred upon you all the good things the Republic could afford. But no, you had to be pernickety child-like; and subsequently, your arrogance, greed and all the paraphernalia that comes with your character had let your down fall. You had bitten more than you could chew. And the result was one of gagging humiliation. Some spoiled men with ambition that indeed they could not afford to have led you into your misery. My dear old boy, you are piqued and such resentment would only assist to you to inhabit your much desired chimera. Dafle is a man of dignity and wisdom. He realised that he was indeed part of that old system and it is time for him to give his life to his family and perhaps wonder about the serene scenery in Belgium unlike your “president” Riyale who was part of that old system and reigns over you—those men who fought for your “liberty”. The same man is ruling the country you have fought for—Burco, Hargeisa and Berbera;; though the former is becoming rather disechanted with the whole thing. Anyhow, some work awaits me, I shall leave you in your dreamland. Long live the phantom!!!!!. Odweyne, I shall not reply to your diatribe! It is time consuming and I have lots of things to do with my limited time. Cheerio Thus Spake I

Odweyne Awoowe, One can balderdash about things one knows intimately well of its kismet. Perhaps; it provides it something of a succour of which without it he might be in a calamitous climate politically. Then again, those who care about their neighbour’s mental wellbeing are morally obliged to come to their rescue and perhaps suggest St Clement Hospital for much needed psychiatric treatment. My dear fellow, I shall not indulge you further for I have already aired my sentiments this morning (when the ring tone of the mobile violently woke me up from much needed sleep); consequently, I shall leave it at that. Lander, Somaliland is synonymous with I…r which we all know that Riyaale isn’t member of that ilk! he is an optical illusion created to satiate certain things that perhaps might be in need for such a thing--- in Somali body politick this sort of things don’t really go far. Besides, Mr Worthington confirmed that he did not invite Riyale to come to London but indeed said he will be happy to see any Somali leader who desires to meet him—the chap has a lot of time in his hand! The poor back bencher desires to entertain himself otherwise boredom will prevail. Anyhow, I am looking forward to seeing him give speech at that medieval Hall—even though one can do so without having much political status. The Somali Co-ordinating Committee convenes its meeting in the House of Commons- Westminster! So there you have it. Let us all wait and see huh!

Just Cause, My dear boy I am not livid with you; and can not imagine where on earth you have got that from? My welcome was indeed a cautious one because of my suspicion of those who are true to somnet nature—that place has the most abominably vile Somalis I have had the displeasure to meet. Reason I have joined this place is due to the fact that it provides a medium of communication without offending anything that is sacred—religion, Allah and his Prophets; which of course in that wretched place has become the sports of the day. There is no thread that doesn’t contain some blasphemy. My fellow, I don’t mean to annoy you but, who judges what is higher is the objective reality of things. What then SOL makes objectively better than Somnet; These are some of the things: 1.absence of Foul language 2.Respect for Religion and Godly things 3.clean discussion 4.Diversity within the scope of rationality 5.Fresh and uncorrupted minds that fill these forums And many more. I deem this place to be superior because of the above mentioned reasons. Now the personal question? If Farah and Sophist the same person? Ooh well I shan’t indulge you further on this mate. You have to let your wondrous mind figure that out. Cheerio
-
Beards, welcome my fellow. I hope you find this place more homely abode than somnet. Take a seat and have shaah and canbuulo on me!
