  7. Cawralaay Abaayo, Why do you think he sucks? Just without emotional diatribe, can you as sister tell me in plain words why he is not ALL THAT? Thank you Sophist Nabad
  8. Bro Baashi Ibnu Taymiyah was asked about two catagories of Ulamaa, those who when asked questions give straight answer (if the issue is Fiqh; there are bound to be many varied valid opinions) or those who recall all the opinions involved and then give their understanding of the issue; Sheikh Ibn Taymiyah (My HERO) said he prefered the latter because they will give show the light and then guide them to the truth. After reading that in years ago, I have indeed adopted this methodology and that is why I am great admirer of Imam ibn Taymiyah and also great fan for Sahibul Muqni (Sheikh Ibnu Qudaamah, great book on Fiqh; about 16 volumes got them all). Although, I agree with the assertion that the Cawra of the men begins from the knee I acknoledge this to be not forgone situations. I believe that Nur would politely disagree with Imam Bukhari on this may be perhaps he is with the Jamhuur on this;;; sometimes some Dulaabul Cilmi are lured by the majority: THIS IS NOT A CRITICISM; just an observation. I however, disagree with him because of Cilmul Usuul enables me to distinguish Ahadith of the actions of the prophet and those who spoke it. The latter comes first if the two are in complete disgareement. This princinple is called : Al Qawlu Muqadamun Canil Ficli= the word (speech) comes first than the action; meaning it is more favourable. This can be found in any major Cilmul Usuul books from Al-Risaala Imaam Shaafici to Irshaadul Fuxuul by Imaam Shawkaani. I hope this clears it a bit. Nur, I am perfectly in the clear that Imaan Yaziid wa Yanqus (we had learnt that in Caqiidatul Waasidiyah by Ibnu Taymiyah): Yaziidu bidaa-atilaah wa yanqusu Bimacsiya; but I spoke about the dressing caragories which you have devised. Anyhow, it is fine. Sophist Nabad PS: Excuse any incomprehensible sentences there, it is nearly five Oclock in the morning.
  9. The questions which the chap above had posted are need detailed analysis of which I personally can not afford to spare at this moment of time. They are not difficult to respond to; but in order to educcate someone who is not Somali about aforementioned issues; one has to be delicate to write about these sensetive issues--for example the role of the Islamic groups in Somali society;;;; I hope with great deligence that the poster knows Somalia Islam is big part of the society and governs most none blood thirsty hoodlums in big cities. Where are the other heavyweights? Yaa maali jirayeey???
  10. First it would be work: New York here I come-- if this internship thing goes through! I will be living in North Manhatan for 6 weeks. Then the fun part begins. Italy- Venice, Florence France-Paris, Saudi Arabia; The Harameyn for Umra This is the plan; but I have a feeling will not be executed; but at least if the work thing did not come through it would be long (I will be free from School 2pm First June till 7th of October) More than 4 months of holidays; God I love this schooooooooool.
  11. Salaams, Actually, folks I entire disagree this sweeping generalisation which infers that one that is “Western” considers our culture inferior. The incident our sister had presented is a clear case of a chap who is not westernised enough to appreciate the diversity of cultures and norms (this does not mean that most western people are well versed in the idea of respect and diversity- you have many bigots who are white supermists). My pure English Upper Middle class and even the Blue blooded friends frequent Blue Ocean restaurant where I have introduced them the art of eating with their hands. One of them aired his delight when he said “what a liberating way of eating”. Yaa ninkaan ka Westerneysan, Aabihiis Cadaan General retire gareeyey, hooyadiis; Barrister QC (lawyer) ah waaye. Eton, Oxfordna ayuu waxa kasoo bartey. Aniga marka ma aanan fahmin wiilashaan iyo gabdhahaan yaryar ee ilbaxnimada uyaqaan in laga cunteeyo Restaurant aan cuntadiisuna aan kudeeqaheynin qiimihiisuna 10 geel ah oo nugaal godan jooga ey qadadiisu lamid tahay. I seriously think that those Somalis who consider themselves educated and thus forsake our culture are mere ignorants dressed in glittering attire adorned with inane Degrees. Ma ey yaqaanaan Dhaqankoodii Soomaaliyeed ee suubanaa, kii kale ee nooca quman ee galeedka ahaana waa kadhacsan yihiin. And terms of the Sunnah because the elavated Prophet SCW use to eat with his hands? Hadith - Sahih Bukhari 7.366, Narrated Ibn Abbas The Prophet said, "When you eat, do not wipe your hands till you have licked it, or had it licked by somebody else." Of course this some will find it unacceptable or even some might take it as a salacious sign for some iniquity activity--- licking these days are considered /associated with something that is quite intimate. Anyhow, the above Hadith is clear authority but contarary to popular belief most of the Somalis I have seen (and I have being around some time now) don’t eat the way th Prophet SCW use to eat. The prophet used his three fingers not the whole gacan sida soomaalideenu aan ucuno baastada; waxaad umaleysaa gaint creature wipeing out some poor insects; the spectacle is one that does not lack humour that will make one laugh painfully. Anyhow, guys, let us not fight over this and let us not picker about something that has less significance in relation to many other things like; men and women who are not married eating together in restaurant without Maxram? I think this should summon more denigration. No personal attack is intended. Cheerio. Aloow noo Gargaar
  12. Salaams, Athena: Mental power, twisted humour and belligerence; the latter description has invoked enormous emotion amognst some of the Nomads Barqaaaqo: Serinity, intellectual prowess and jovial personality that sometimes might annoy those who are not on the same par as her. Sammurair W: Great man with vast knowledge on wide subjects. Jamaal11: Overworked underpaid undiscovered Poet; but very amiable man with soft spoken words that ooze with some electrical …..! some don’t know whether this electricity stems from peculiar intellect or agitation with the status of things. Wouldn’t be good for us to do justice for others and portry the picture which others have about us? That would be great thing to venture into too!. So here I begin this : Sophist: Just plain oldish man with surreal sense of reality dashed with…….. I will let others complete for me. Invitations are open: let us not be overtly nice; unwind yourself and be honest about what comes to your mind when you read the posts of your subject or even the responses you get from others in regards about their perception about you

  21. Great topic! Nur, my esteemed fellow, I only thought in the Sharia there was only two catogories as far as the Hijab goes: 1.Those who adorn garments on their body fully and fulfill the requirements of the Hijab inter alia, clothing beingt be long and loose-fitting so that the shape of the woman is not outlined in her garment…! Of course apart from being long this is a requirement men share with women as far as Islamic dressing is concerned. 2. Caariyaatul Kaasiyaat: which the prophet spoke about being one of the signs of the HOUR. So where does the third caragory comes from? Or perhaps this is a factual issue rather than legal? If the latter than how can you justify the catogarisation as far the above two catagories concerned. Can a fact be independent from Legal judgement? As you know Asturaadu waa Cibaado, Cibaadaduna ma ahan shey eynu caqligeena ka arkoon karno ee waxaa asal u ah Shareecada- Kitaabka Quraanka, Sunada, Ijmaaca, Qiyaaska, Qawlu Qulafaa, “Qawlu Saxaaba”, Istisxaabul Xaal, Masaalixil Mursala!!! Baasi About the footbal attire; the Cawra of the man is much contentious judicial matter. The famous Imamu Ahlu-Hadith Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismail ibn Ibrahim Ibn Muqira ibn Bardisba Al Ju’fi Al Bukhari argued that Cawrarada ninku inaaney ka bilaaban jilibka ee laakiin xitaa bowdada (cajirka) ninku aanu cawro aheyn. Hadalkiisan wuxuu asal uga dhigayaa, xadiithka Mutafiqa ah (waan umaleyn inuu mutafiq yahay); Nabiga SCW oo kugurigiisa fadhiya ayaa oo bawdadiisu (cajirkiisu) uu sn udaboolneyn ayaa waxaa usoo galaya abu Bakar, ma uu daboolanayo, kadibna, Cumar, ma uu daboolanayo, Kadib ayaa waxaa soo galaya Cuthmaan; markaas ayuu daboolan bawdadiisa isagoo leh, “miyaanan kaxishooneynin (ixtiraameynin) nin malaa’igtuba kaxishooto” Awkamaa qaala Nabiyu Salahu Calayhi Wasalamm. This is my meagre contribution to this splendid subject. As allah says in the Quraan, Udquluu fi Silmi kaafa! ilaahoow kuwii nabadan sibuuxda ugala naga yeel. Sophist Nabad

Dear Sis Sofine, That was the most sweetest poem I have read for a long time (Have you considered your work to be published sister? if not, you should seriously give a thought; the world is in much need for words of wisdom). 23. 1 You have died, Corfiedl, and are no longer in this world, 2 A merciless journey was your portion. 3 When Hell-destined, you set out for the Other World 4 Those who have gone to Heaven will question you, if God is willing; 5 When you see the companions of the faithful and the jewels of Heaven 6 Answer them how God tried you, 7 Say to them: ‘From that day to this the Dervishes never ceases their assault upon us, 8 The British were broken, the noise of battle engulfed us. 10 Say: ‘They attacked us at mid-morning 11 Say: Yesterday in the holy war a bullet from one of their old rifles struck me. 12 And the bullet struck me in the arm. 13 Say: ‘In fury, they fell upon us.’ 14 Report how savagely their swords tore you, 15 Show these past generations in how many places the daggers were plunged. 16 Say: “Friend,” I called, “have compassion and spare me!” 17 Say: ‘As I looked fearfully from side to side my heart was plucked from its sheath.’ 18 Say: “My eyes stiffened as I watched with horror’ 19 The mercy I implored was not granted 20 Say: ‘Striking with spear-butts at my mouth they silenced my soft words; 21 My ears, straining for deliverance, found nothing; 22 The risk I took, the mistake I made, cost my life; 23 Say: ‘The schemes that djinns (devil) planted in me brought my ruin; 24 Say: ‘When pain racked me everywhere 25 Men lay sleepless at my shrieks 27 Say: ‘Great shouts acclaimed the departing of my soul.’ 28 Say: ‘Beasts of prey have eaten my flesh and torn it apart for meat.’ 29 Say: ‘The sound of swallowing the flesh and the fat comes from the hyena.’ 30 Say: ‘The crows plucked out my veins and tendons.’ 31 Say: ‘If stubborn denials are to be abandons, then my clansmen were defeated.’ 32 In the last stand of resistance there is always great slaughter. 33 Say: ‘The Dervishes are like the advancing thunderbolts of a storm, rumbling and roaring.’ .
