How about he got killed? Suns made it and LAL can go back home with elbowing Kobe. Odom barely made it to double figures. Kobe shouldn't have being playing rough. He gave the suns enough fuel to blast past LAL in game 6 & 7.

^^^ Come on man don't kill it for me. The whole point of this is to make Rudy eat his words. So allow me................FSU KILLED UCLA!!!THEY TORE YOU TO SHREDS!!! **SMILING BROADLY** Beautiful game though. They showed why they are not to be underestimated. Joakim with his blocks, Brewer with his drive, Green with setting up plays, Horford with defense.......I mean teamwork at its best. They deserve it and congrats to them!

Rudy Prudy don't make this into a woman thing We both know last time we went down this road the teams I picked swept yours. Quit calling me Moose  and yea so what if Joakim blows my skirt that has nothing to do with my appreciation of his game or seeing a competitors nature in a player. FSU plays a good team game. They capitalize on their steals n rebounds. Front court there is Noah and Horford over 60% field goal shooters. Back court you have Green, Brewer and Humphrey. Give Humphrey lee way and this cadan can hit three pointers but he is absolutely horendous in free throws (I cant figure that out). Whats more than that is the fact that they r competitors. They have only one goal and that is to win and sometimes that fire is the only one burning by the time the last seconds come up. UCLA is a good team. Their freshman Mbah has a knack for basketball. Its sure to be an interesting game and hopefully whoever will emerge victorious deserves it. Rudy too bad you don't put your money where your mouth is

^^^I would normally gloat but I don't appreciate UCLA getting thru. Rudy would not be able to shut up then LSU is looking horrible out there. The freshman (mbaute)is killing them......UCLA vs FSU looks like.Darn it

I am routing for FSU but GMU is a very good adversary. FSU starters average double figures and so does GMU. They are both good rebounding teams but I don't think GMU's answer (Jai and Thomas) to Joakim Noah And Al Horford will suffice or at least I hope so. FSU also has that knack of playing ball throughtout the whole two halves with no let up. Good luck to both teams. UCLA's Hollins might not play cause he got hurt in practice. Temple (LSU) has to be able to contain UCLA's Affalo and Farmar . LSU's front men Mitchell, Davis and Thomas have a free reign if Hollins is not in the game. UCLA's stretgy of working the clock down won't be enough and Mitchell is a perimeter threat. Got to mention Big Baby with his on the paint points not to mention in the UCONN game he showed that he can hit a three pointer once in a while. Looks like a blow out game to me.

Watch out Amelia they might think you are going to tell your girlfriend's what u just saw

Thats what happened to the blow up doll under the bed. It went digital . Remarkable venture though and funnily enough they are preying on the male populace to succeed.

Originally posted by Nur: Rendevous Trying to reform Islam to be like Christianity is based on the notion that since western countries are predominantly Christians, and that they have progressed very well in terms of processess, systems of civility, technology and business in comparison with Muslims world, then, Islam must be reformed to be like christianity for Muslims to catch up with developed Nations. Thats not what all Islamic reformers are calling for. So Nur, since you brought the topic up why don't you deal with the real issues about Islamic reform. Which is basically the adherence of Muslims to the Islamic creed. You touch on something when you say that some "muslims" do want to reform Islam in the likeness of christianity i.e innovations of the west and whatnot. Could this be due to Christianity being perceived as relatively simple (believe someone already atoned for your sins and all you have to do is accept them as your saviour). Mind you I am over simplifying the creed. Islam on the other hand expects you to live your life in a certain fashion, following certain rules that are in place to protect, sustain and prepare you for the other world. The constant vigilance expected from muslims is sometimes the straw that broke the camel's back, wouldn't you say? Personally I think with the different sects of Islam emerging, we should concentrate on what makes us similar (Quran and Sunnah) instead of what makes us different. Maybe if we were to mold a moderate Islamic state that does function like clockwork (within its borders) as opposed to the current Islamic states in existance. Ps:- Whats with you all of a sudden going to the archives. The well ran dry or something?

^^^My picks are out of the game except for FSU and I am not sure they can beat GMU after watching them play UCONN today. I am hoping and wishing and maybe following in Kashafa's footsteps add Inshallah that they do make it to the finals As for one on one that would be fine if I played BBall lol. Last time I played BBall was in high school. These days I content myself with watching Football, Soccer and BBall. Thanks for the compliment but I dare say you think the pic on my page was me. Sorry to disappoint you that is not me Layzie by the way is another girl who loves BBall so I ain't a rare female on that field. Good luck with LSU. I think they might just have that certain omph, not to mention big baby to give them on the paint points, to beat UCLA. Ps:- Rudy Prudy..........cute but no cigar. Mt Rushmore ain't in there but we were only made D1 a couple years ago. Maybe if we got more black people who didn't molest females we would actually play some BBall

UCONN got outplayed I even got my roomates into the game by second half. Totally brilliantly played game by GMU. Nova couldn't deal with Joakim like I thought even with Foye hitting 25 and Ray not getting on the boards till late in the second half. Horford was the man after Joakim though. Rebounds played a major role in the game.Thats the last of the #1 team to leave the championship. Finals four matchups :- FSU and GMU UCLA and LSU
-
Codetalker at the last seconds when Nova was about to get that three pointer and it got blocked, the most vile words came out of my mouth . Lmao but it was nice to gloat over James when Nova actually made it through. I am not sure about their meeting with the Gators though. Joakim Noah is a force to be reckoned with when in form. Definately fixings for a thrilling match. AbdulNoor thank u for the compliment. I felt bad for Reddick and Morrison man, especially Morrison he played a good game with all his heart. I think he over did it though by lying on the court and crying. Chin up dude you be alright, you the second leading scorer after Reddick and off course you All American I don't see any one giving props to the sleeping giant Memphis (my pick). I think UCLA will have a hard game ahead of them. Here are the Elite Eight matchups, by this weekend we will be down to our final four :- UCLA vs Memphis FSU vs Villanova UCONN vs GeorgeMason LSU vs Texas Have a great weekend folks!
-
Come now folks its March Madness. Work your cheering muscles out before NBA playoffs by watching NCAA Men Basketball. Its already in the regionals stages with the weekend games giving the remaining four spots to the deserving.LSU beat Duke, UCLA beat Gonzaga, Texas beat West Va and Memphis obviously beat Bradley. Weekend games : UCONN vs Washington George Mason Vs Wichita Villanova vs Boston Florida vs Georgetown Pick your uni colors for those of you who attend the schools listed above. I know fo sho we got some somalis in Boston College

Originally posted by S.O.S: I find it disturbing to see you dismiss that point so easily whiles pointining out at the same time its consequent deadly wars! Don't you think that anything that causes Muslims to fight other Muslims is in dire need of attention and reformation? w/c Yes dear, anything that makes muslims fight is in need of attention. Are you expecting me to negate your statement? I can't do that. I acknowledge that wars begun dur to borders case in point (I can read your mind) you might be thinking about Isreal/Palestine and India/Pakistan. Do you notice something about the examples I picked dear? They are not in Africa and they are religious borders which are hindarance more than physical borders ( I know I am oversimplifying things here but all due respect I rest with my previous statement of saying this topic is much better dealt with as a separate issue) . Ok now that leaves the wars Africa..........colonialism carved your borders there. The question I have here is it only muslims who are fighting? Most of African countries have gone through some kind of civil strife due to economic difficulties and most times than most power hungry individuals. The only one that seemed to have muslims as prominent members would be Sudan and seriously that is more color based if you ask me . Xiinfaniin answered you aptly by stating that if you were to deal with the core issues in Islam then your conflicts should lessen. To solve a problem it is always wise to go to the root of the problem. Your borders issue is a sub-heading in the division of Islam but I am not trying to figure out individual solutions to these problems per se more like I am trying to find a compound solution to all the problems. Now SOS sxb, with all due respect, if you are hell bent on adding this into the topic why don't you bring something to the table apart from borders have something to do with reform. Something substantial.
-
Oi luv don't get your knickers in a knot I don't see what it has to do with this topic............hint hint start a thread about the evils of borders and I will be more than happy to share my two cents about the subject. My above suggestion should not be construed as rude but merely me pointing out that the topic I wish to be discussed will not be derailed or deranged into something more. Comprende mijo? Now as they say in the commercial you are now free to roam the country (SOL).

^^^ Seeing that you took the time to actually go to the archives and paste from one of previous replies I assuming you went through and read the whole thread. If you did (thats a huge IF) I fail to see how giving a satirical comparision of the Nicean meeting has anything to do with this.I was not holding a banner asking for reform of Islam. Here is the sparky note version since I am assuming you are a busy man  I was questioning the word reform and later on the discussion segwayed to interpretation and application of laws in an Islamic state. This is all hypothetical and abstract thus for me at least I can actually (hypothetically) model and see how such a state would function in the real world. I would more than welcome your input on the matter but I believe you first have to ahem ahem...........understand where the discussion begun and where it is at the moment Ps:- Good to see you again Nur. I had forgotten the good ol' days of locking horns in another part of cyber world. Glad to see you are still the hardliner/hero arch type with sarcasm as a weapon of choice.

Khayr and SOS, Borders might have a lot to do with wars going on in the once colonized nations but I fail to see its place in a reform discussion. Originally posted by xiinfaniin: Where’s Seeker? As we agreed that reforming Muslims should not equal taking them back in time, and hence decline, how do you prioritize, good sister, this looming reform? Could we go beyond personal level reform rhetoric, and attack the big issues of this age? Sorry about not partaking in the discussion as I hoped but sometimes I have to attend to more pressing matters at hand. Back to the discussion eh? A qaxooti once said true and everlasting change must come from within. I believe this is true especially if we are talking about theology. If we wish to reform the ummah to adhere to the faith then we need to start from the basics. Can't build a sturdy house without foundation now can we? Education is the key . Strip away the ignorance in the ummah, the confusion between religion and culture (this plagues somalis) and instead plant seeds of curiosity. People need to move from blind faith to knowledge but how we go about packaging/presenting the knowledge is the key to success. We live in a world of instant gratification and seriously sometimes I think most of us need someone to chew our food (read as information) before we digest it. Should we then package knowledge for mass consumption? or will that take away from the history and struggle that comes from a journey of discovery/rediscovery/self discovery of our faith? Edited: Xiin, I still would like a clarification on the jurisprudential process as it is or better yet as it should be. Previously posted, as I looked into the subject, were some key things I noted which would meet the fancy of the democratically visioned Muslims but there were also concepts that were blurry. Care to enlighten? Viks you too

^^1649................I can still hear my Indian teacher drumming the line of the stuarts into our heads. Ps:- Is that where the tradition of executioners wearing masks came from? Since I believe no one wanted to actually chop his head off  When was the 13th amendment outlawing slavery in US passed? Getting into black history month

Oi my insomnia kicked in last night so I am working with two hours of sleep so what better way to relax than to dip in my creative basket and start weaving Idil sat up in her bed watching Oprah talk to Tyler Perry and Madea. The Tv was muted because her mind was not on the tube but on the starkness of her life. She felt the dark void of depression beckoning to her as she tried to hasten in the opposite direction. She cocked her head to the side of her door as she heard somali words float down from the hall into her room. It sounded like her mother was here with her entourage of well-wishers. Sliding down into her bed, Idil burrowed her head under her sheets feigning sleep. Mom: (Exclaims) My baby is still asleep. I think they are drugging her too much she doesn't seem to awake ever. Wait a minute, where is Sumaya? She would know if Idil stirred from her sleep. Other woman: Kids these days have no sense of responsibility or regard for their siblings. She is probably outside chatting on her cell phone. (Nods of agreement and exclaimation of disgust from all around the circle of women). **Meanwhile in the mosques parking lot** Sumaya waits under the awning of the mosque as she kept her eye out for Cilmi's Audi TTS Roadster . Just as she was giving hope she sees his plates "Cilmi". She rushes out in the rain even before the car cruises to a stop.As she slid in the car, she tried to keep her eyes averted from Cilmi's questioning look. Sumaya: I need something to warm me up can we go get some coffee? Cilmi:Sure we can and after that you will tell me what all this is about. **I hope this doesn't take long because I have to get home to get ready for my date with Ceebla** As the car drove out of the mosque parking lot a curtain flicked shut in the male section of the mosque. What Cilmi and Sumaya didn't know was that someone had witnessed the whole scene. Hope that tickles someone's creative side

^^^I thought the story abandoned, glad you brought it back thou. Let see what other twists people can add. I definately want to know what secrets sumaya and her family have being keeping from Cilmi.

Whatever happened to the peaceful muslims? Even the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had stones thrown at him and was mocked by the unbelievers. He never raised his voice except to reaffirm his faith let alone take up arms.By advocating violence and carrying placards that call for violence you go against the very grain of Islam (peace). This is absolutely revolting.

^^ You are verily pardoned. Restraining a debate is sometimes a good thing when they tend to get out of hand quickly. As far as I can tell this is a discussion and it doesn't seem to hold the fancy of many of SOLers. So, fear not as I doubt you will be bombarded by a crowd of questions or demands. I was clarifying a subject but then viks and you provided doors that begged for my curiosity, so just like our religion is fluid so is this discussion. Looking forward to reading more.
