Originally posted by rudy-Diiriye: So my question is this, does Hep B/c causes AID or HIV? And what can of diseases are associated with Hep B/C? Simply put Hep C/B are liver disease that are caused by a virus. They are usually contracted via exchange of blood or body fluids, which can happen even when getting body piercing with an infected tool. Hep B/C doesn't cause HIV/AIDS but someone with HIV/AIDS is susceptible to contracting HEP B/C. Finally disease associates with HEP B/C are all to do with the liver thus cirrhosis and liver cancer are common ailments. There is HEP B vaccination but no HEP C vaccination. I simplified the information but there is a wealth of info if you look. Hope it helps.

WOL sasa sis? Long time bila kukuona? Ramadhan Kareem kama sitakuona kabla saum. HEP B/HEP C have been issues for a while and I think the clinics are doing a good job screening people on these disease but I will look up latest stats and ask around about the education literature out there. Excellent to hear you are all for testing!

Anyone who knows me, knows of my advocacy for health. I talked to a somali friend the other day about a program I wanted to start in the two months and my friend told me ,"That is ceeb!". But, after reading an article yesterday about the emergence of a new strain of this virus, I feel the need to pursue this in spite of what lies ahead. I am talking about nothing other than testing for STDs and HIV/AIDS. Everyone who has been to a physical has had this questioned posed......"Would you like to test for STDs?" How many of us have frowned and with full confidence (after rationalizing that I can't possibly have any STDs) said NOPE . A relative of mine is infected with this disease and so are her kids because her husband brought it home and she didn't know about it till it was too late. Speaking strictly about MN, the latest stats are grounds for a grassroots movement especially among the immigrant communities. Between 2003 and 2007, the number of foreign-born persons living with HIV/AIDS in Minnesota increased from 692 to 1,126, a 63 percent increase. The largest increase occurred among those from African countries (68 percent), followed by those from Latin America (53 percent) ... ... ... ... According to the 2000 Census, populations of color make up 11% of the population and 54% of new HIV infections. This disparity is especially evident among women. Women of color accounted for 74 percent of new infections among women in 2007, and this pattern has been sustained over the past five years. African American (22%) and African-born (32%) women account for over half the new infection reported among women. Source Stats like this are hard to ignore especially if you are a woman. Aside from the usual safe campaign that we normally see, I believe that it is important that before any wedding ceremony, both parties be protected by mutually agreeing to have their blood tested. A woman who is infected is most likely to transmit the infection to her unborn child and since statistically women are showing an increase in incidence I think they would make a great target group. Plus everyone listens to the lady of the house/heart. I would love to target the youth too, but I think when my friend said ceeb to my idea it was because with the youth, the STDs or HIV/AIDS are procured through means that are taboo to talk about. I am brainstorming on how to delicately address this issue but till then what say you? Are you up for spreading the word? By spreading the word to even one other person, you might be saving a life. PS:- US resettlement programs used to deny immigration to refugees when they are found with AIDS, but due to an humanitarian reasons, the fed allowed six sites to resettle HIV positive immigrants. The state of MN has two of those sites and have resettled 183 HIV positive refugees.

You both seem to want me to install windows on my mac. I just have to buy the mac version of windows and I can install it. Then try working the program under that? My mac is about 6 months old and I am still adjusting to using it even though once in a while i rush back to my PC.

^^You can sense fear? You must have very good senses. Anyway, Naden, yes there are some major specialists you have to wait for. Those that are well known and have legions of people coming from all over the world to see them but otherwise most of the specialists in the US are more than happy to see you when you make appointments. Medicare/Mediaid puts a lot of strain on the industry, especially when it comes to reimbursement of claims. It is backlogged and the poor professionals who deal solely with them are forever being dragged along to get paid. Eventually they do get paid but what will happen when the government is solely in charge? The quality of care will go down cause lets face it most doctors don't have the patience. We are already giving free healthcare to people but the government is stringent on what they cover. Take it from someone who works in the industry. They don't cover everything and anything. Its a bell curve and the outliers are screwed. These people have supplement insurance that they got to cover what the government doesn't. Not everyone will have the same ailments or follow the usual timeline of getting those ailments. I am not sure but i don't think de-privatising the healthcare industry is a good thing. I think maybe regulations are a better alternative and possibly the government can supplement coverage for those who can't afford it. I know this is right wing propaganda but i gotta throw it out there since this is a from one person who fell through the cracks in a universal healthcare system. There is another of a girl from Alberta too but one example is enough for now.

^^ Ok I sorta understand what you wrote but why don't i just buy a copy of windows and install it on a mac they do have those you know, or won't that work? Ps:- consider me sorta completely clueless when it comes to programs my expertise is amateurish at best. Make the advise understandable please.

First off thanks for the reply. Buuxo, Obama's doesn't really have a completely concrete plan and thus i am highly critical that he will get what he wants. The house and the senate will distort it and maybe he will get part of his plan handed back to him. Plus when I was visiting the UK i was under the impression that you were stuck with the GP that is within your zip code or something (correct me if I am wrong Brits). Originally posted by Naden: For a healthcare system to be sustainable, it has to be non-profit and its focus on preventive and low-cost care. The US system is the opposite of this. No matter how you slice it, it will cover fewer and fewer people to protect investor profits. I absolutely agree that the US healthcare system seeks to treat instead of prevent. Its a fixable thing but i disagree that government should fix it by giving a universal system. Every time the government takes over an industry the industry inevitable suffers from lack of quality due to mandates. Por example, if you need a procedure and for some reason or other you don't meet the criteria to have that procedure you are basically SOL in a universal healthcare system. I don't need to belong to a certain age bracket to get an exam that my doc thinks i should. Not to mention the wait times. I also have seen first hand what the Medicare D plan has done for the baby boomers. Some of these people have to pay close to 5K during a period they call coverage gap. These are people who don't have a steady income but live on their life savings. But due to competition in the retail industry most of the daily drugs they use are $4. I think our healthcare system needs to be fixed but i am not sure that making healthcare universal and paying for it via taxation is the only solution. Ps:-I am trying to get a feel on what the system is like (inside and out), so erm correct my erroneous misconceptions with a smile

I have a burned copy of rosetta stone program that i was given. It has all the languages and all levels. The problem is that it works on PC but it won't work on a mac. Does anyone know how I can get around this?
-
To all the US residents, How do you feel about the universal healthcare system that OBAMA is pushing for? To the rest of the world, How do you like your universal healthcare systems in your individual country and if you don't what would you change about it? I only ask because I find that I am almost the only one around my area that is against it. Apart from the fact that our healthcare systems in the US is practically run by drug companies and insurance companies, I highly like that I have the freedom to pick and choose my doc and what healthcare coverage I want. If our healthcare system sucks......why is it that many people come from all over the world to be treated here? Please weigh in on this important issue.

Taliban, does anyone who knows about shiasm automatically shia? Bisinka maybe I shouldn't have this wealth of knowledge about Christianity too, I might be a catholic. The oNe aNd OnLy, maybe because for some odd reason they like each other and their intentions are good. By the way, my friend is a witness of a sunni-shia union which seems to be fairing well. So its not a far fetched idea now innit? Anyway, I found the link for the previous thread and I am going through it. Skimming through it I can see this is a touchy topic, but I would still like to understand the validity of a marriage between the two school of thoughts.
-
^^^Lol up to your old antics. I tried to do a search before I posted the Q but nothing came up. Maybe it got lost or my keywords are wrong. Taliban, first off taaqiyah is only supposed to be used in terms of danger and people who misuse it are not really practicing are they. As for mut'a marriage if you read their text its intentions are meant to be noble. Here is another case in which it is misused and misunderstood by people who listen instead of read. Anyway Allahu ya3lam we all have our own beliefs and stand by it. I was having this arguement with someone and realized I didn't know much about what shias are about except the propaganda being said about them. Ngo' post the link to Nur's thread. I will protect myself against the venom accordingly.

Its confusing the mixed messages out there. I found this fatwa and I still haven't found refutations to it. IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL Text of the Verdict (Fatwa) Issued by His Excellency Shaikh al-Akbar Mahmood Shaltoot, Head of the al-Azhar University, on Permissibility of Following "al-Shia al-Imamiyyah" School of Thought His Excellency was asked: Some believe that, for a Muslim to have religiously correct worship and dealing, it is necessary to follow one of the four known schools of thought, whereas, "al-Shia al-Imamiyyah" school of thought is not one of them nor "al-Shia al-Zaidiyyah." Do your Excellency agree with this opinion, and prohibit following "al-Shia al-Imamiyyah al-Ithna Ashariyyah" school of thought, for example? His Excellency replied: 1) Islam does not require a Muslim to follow a particular Madh'hab (school of thought). Rather, we say: every Muslim has the right to follow one of the schools of thought which has been correctly narrated and its verdicts have been compiled in its books. And, everyone who is following such Madhahib [schools of thought] can transfer to another school, and there shall be no crime on him for doing so. 2) The Ja'fari school of thought, which is also known as "al-Shia al- Imamiyyah al-Ithna Ashariyyah" (i.e., The Twelver Imami Shi'ites) is a school of thought that is religiously correct to follow in worship as are other Sunni schools of thought. Muslims must know this, and ought to refrain from unjust prejudice to any particular school of thought, since the religion of Allah and His Divine Law (Shari'ah) was never restricted to a particular school of thought. Their jurists (Mujtahidoon) are accepted by Almighty Allah, and it is permissible to the "non-Mujtahid" to follow them and to accord with their teaching whether in worship (Ibadaat) or transactions (Mu'amilaat). Signed, Mahmood Shaltoot. The above Fatwa was announced on July 6, 1959 from the Head of al-Azhar University Taliban, not all shias practice the short term engagement. We now know you won't marry a shia but my question wasn't a personal Q, rather a fact finding Q. What does the books say? What verses and sunnah is there? What differences would be too hard to ignore? All that good stuff. Jzk Ameen for that reply, I saw that reply on Islam Q and A but I couldn't find those books when I google searched them. If you got a site that I can access I would love to read more.
-
Its simple really. Can a sunni marry a shia and make it work or is there something between the doctorines that would cause there to be no union whatsoever? I know some basic stuff about the shia madhab but that was through my interaction with school mates (went to shiat school), so I don't know for sure if its allowed for sunnis to be in union with them. Jzk for any input.
