Private cells stocked like college dormitories, personal computers, wooden bookcases, trainer, spiritual room, tv sets, kitchen, free legal aid to the tune of $43,000/month not to mention family visits/conjugal visits from home countries all footed by the International Criminal Court. Known by the critics as the Hague Hilton, the detention center including its staff, run up a yearly bill of $102 million. All this and not one conviction! NYT Its sickening that people who have slaughtered entire generations can have such standards of living while the victims beg for justice Which leads to how we view our justice systems in our respective countries and how they 'accomodate' convicts. Are some luxuries a bit over board? MN had a controversy a few months back when one of our correctional facilities got plasma TVs for the convicts. An unwanted luxury some exclaimed and demanded that state money be put to better use. What r ur thoughts?

Can't sleep tonite. BTW for US residents its National Donut Day so if you are getting coffee at dunkin donuts be sure to ask for your free donut.
-
^Time to sleep, you are seeing things. I think I will call it a night too before I get those irritating txt messages from Lakers fans

lol......I read those rumors as soon as Cavs got eliminated. Perhaps I will watch the dateline interview after the game and hear what LBJ got to say.
-
I think I can handle the cavalry Bal can someone explain to me what happens in Lakers locker during halftime? They score the most points during third quarter. What does Phil blow into them lol.

On a lighter note I love the new commercial from . Watch now how many will come out of the woodwork and say it was all KOBE lol

^Yur. My blood pressure is stable This game goes to the fakers, they came to win and Celtics were ill prepared Doc needs to rewind the tapes and look at how Pau shut them out of the paint area. He is the major differential in this equation. This just ruined a beautiful day!
-
^ It ain't over as far as I am concerned the Celtics ain't come to play yet....wtf was Rondo doing walking when there was a loose ball on the court. Shesh they need to be beat if this is how they come out to play  Can I see Doc Rivers playbook because he apparently has no answer to Gasol.....the dude is getting to the rim every which way not to mention he is dominating the boards on the D side. And now Ray is out!

^Kobe was asking Jordan for pointers sxb **drum roll please** It is T minus some secs before game 1 of the East-West showdown starts. I hope the Fakers bring their A game on so I can enjoy this series down to the wire

He is good Mashallah. Are those portraits charcoal sketches? His use of shadows makes the old man a compelling subject to view. On a side note, whats the rulings on portraits religiously? I used to sketch up to my teenage years and even did murals on walls till someone told my mother it was xaram and she made me stop I have been meaning to look it up because I want to take up that form of expression again since I miss it terribly. PS:- JB do you work as a photographer? I googled the NGO Afrikanation and the FB page pics all seem to be taken by you. BTW I like this painting by far of the ones in the cache. Perhaps since there seems to be interest by some SOL members you can facilitate delivery of goods for $

^I don't hate him I just don't like him I don't like his swagga too

^Oye wacha kutia chumvi. I am not jealous of the dude, if you read previous comments I did say he was one of the great players but I don't have to like him! Perhaps idolizing a player for his skills is where we differ Haatu. I prefer to look at the entire persona before I put him on a pedestal and Kobe is lacking in certain departments

You mean you can't understand why I don't get starry eyed and hear angelic music when he walks unto the hard wood floors? I don't hate anyone but I have a dislike for Kobe and in order to show you why, I would have to get reels and reels of game footage

In the interest of time perhaps you should delve into historical data to get a clear picture of trends in societies. Usually when secularism fails a nation, society tends to capitulate towards some form of spirituality. Perhaps it is a way of making sense of the absurd, but frankly this only leads to adoption of drastic measures that don't assimilate into the culture itself and later causes disillusionment. case in point look at the history of Iran and its adoption of theocracy, look at the history of turkey and its distancing of religion. Somalis are walking a well beaten path. Whats left to be seen is if we take lessons from the previous people or we will fall into the same trappings that they fell into. Following and practicing your religion is not a action that should fluctuate between one extreme to another but should be kept to the moderate path. Unfortunately for some of us, we can't quite grasp what moderation entails.

^I loved his style in 98 when he busted on the wc scene. Great player Major arsenal in the US team this WC if they let him see minutes on the field. One of my all time fav dutch players loved to watch this man (back in dem days) to pick up pointers for spectacular saves. before he became chubby

I don't think Mr Beinart is focused solely on the foreign policy in America but also on politics in Israel. Israelis who are born outside of their nation, due to the law of return, do still have a say in the power struggle in Israel. As for the two possibilities of the Somali youth, I would have to say that your latter seems more of a realistic outcome. The wounds in Somalia are too deep and sore to heal any time soon, especially in the light of the older generation being perpetually vested in its continuity.

Interesting article Baashi. He does well pointing out the dichotomy that exists within the Jewish community. Orthodox Jews are becoming a force to be reckoned with and clearly hold views that exploit the victimhood claim that Israel holds close to its bosom. I would like to say that this could also very well be an issue for Somalia. The disconnect that happens when a new generation can clearly see what the old couldn't. The generation that is in its teenage years at the moment want peace and do not see its emergence coming any time soon. They can't grasp what the fighting is about, they hold different views from the older generation and would most likely settle in the West due to this conflict. Thanks, this read was made for a lazy holiday morning.I think I will post the link on FB.

Live Stream of the Ship followed by Isreali Warships

Twitter is ablaze with the news. Be interesting if the main stream media picks it up and how they spin it. CNN seems to be using their turkish counterpart on this one. -
