Speaking to the BBC Silanyo rejected to reunite with Somalia, claiming that the discussions will be between two neighbouring countries. “The negotiations will focus on the independence of Somaliland and the peace making process in the region” . Speaking on the reunion with Somalia, Silanyo said “ There was a time we had such plans to unite all Somalis, but now that it’s over, we will be negotiating as two neighbouring nations”. Last month Somaliland participated the London conference for Somalia which many people saw as the first concession Somaliland made since it has announced it’s independence in 1991,But Somaliland still insists not to be part of Somalia. after attending the London conference, Somalia’s president Sharif Shiekh Ahmed told reporters in Mogadishu that his government is planning to start talks with Somaliland. Sharif reiterated that his government is considering Somaliland as a part of the federal government of Somalia. Unless one of the two sides concede, the deadlock between Somalia and Somaliland continues at a time Somalis are optimistic on the future of their country.
