  2. The Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) has backed the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) led conference in Eritrea saying that it was “a commended step.” The OLF, labeled a terrorist organization by the Ethiopian government, functions from Eritrea along side other rebels fighting the Ethiopian, Sudanese and Somalia governments. According to the information distributed from pro-OLF media sources, the organization said the “Alliance for the Liberation of Somalia in Eritrea has to be supported by all peace loving and respecting entities.” It said this conference was organized to “liberate” Somalia from “the occupying Ethiopian government forces.” Critics say the conference held in Eritrea resembled the over a dozen other conferences held outside Somalia in contrast to the Mogadishu conference last month. The ICU is also said to be led by members of the minority Habr Gidir sub-clan. In endorsement of the ICU-led conference organized by Eritrea, the OLF stated that “the problem in Somalia will be solved only by the Somali people” and the alliance will help find solution for Somalis “in their own way.” In contrast to OLF's statements, international newspapers have been reporting that the conference being organized by the Eritrean government confirmed that the situation is increasingly becoming the proxy war between Eritrea & Ethiopia. The United Nations also contradicted the independence of ICU & its affiliates describing numerous foreign fighters in Somalia and by listing a number of entities from the Gulf nations as well as Iran & Eritrea who are financing the ICU movement against the Somalia government. Despite rejections by the OLF, many independent sources have suggested that the OLF has been exploiting the 16 years of anarchy in Somalia as its base for war on the Ethiopian government. In 1998, BBC reported that the OLF was organizing meetings in Mogadishu and stated that a "ship load of arms and additional 1,500 Oromo fighters" were being moved from Eritrea to southern Somalia at the OLF training center of Qorioli. When the Ethiopian troops arrived in southern Somalia, many OLF members and other Oromos suspected of links with the OLF were reportedly detained by the allied Ethiopian-Somali forces that drove out the ICU. The OLF has been fighting for the independence of ethnic Oromo people for more than 30 years. The OLF shares the support of the Oromo people with the OPDO/EPRDF ruling party in Ethiopia and the Oromo National Congress (ONC) & Oromo Federalist Democratic Movement (OFDM) opposition parties in parliament. Recently, the Ethiopian government has been accused of detaining and torturing some Oromos suspected of being members of the OLF; though it denies the charges. The OLF organization defended any military activities by the alliance formed in Eritrea stating that “any loses of life and material due to any military action" by the ICU-led alliance should be blamed on the Ethiopian & Somali government troops. 3. According to sources from the war-torn country of Somalia, the clashes between Puntland and Somaliland have increased to a higher level. Recent conflicts brought accusations from both sides regarding who started the conflict. Security forces from the opposing regions exchanged fire in the disputed Sool region as various regional players took sides. Tensions remain after battles near Las Anod, the capital of Sool region. Most importantly, these events have displayed the complicated clan politics as well as the special case of Somaliland which is seeking independence from the rest of Somalia. After Puntland blamed Somaliland for helping the supporters of the Islamic Courts Union (ICU), Somaliland accused Puntland of attempting to use terrorism to gain the support of Ethiopia and Mogadishu governments. More accusations have mounted as Somaliland claimed that the Puntland militias are assisting the ****** National Liberation Front (ONLF) against Ethiopia. According to officials from Somaliland, Puntland is secretly arming and allowing shipments of weapons to be transferred towards the separatist ONLF rebels. Somaliland broke away from the rest of Somalia in 1991, and has been seeking recognition by the United Nations. Most of the accusations going back and forth are likely political maneuvers rather than concrete facts on the ground.

  6. A teenage girl about 17 named Aisha had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Aisha asked Allah to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for Allah's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely. The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been attacked in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking Allah for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a line up to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Aisha for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question. Aisha was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men (Angels) walking on either side of her." Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're never alone. Did you know that 98% of teenagers will not stand up for Allah? PS: Allah is always there in your heart and loves you no matter what.....and if you stand up 4 him he will stand up for you.

  10. I don't think you would sleep on maqaar ey for your maslaxad ,,, waan baahanahay looma bakhti cuno bay soomaalidu tidhaahdaa ... I agree with Paragon about the elections and that is what i said in other thread if there is no leading ideology then the Asmara group mission is a complete failure ,,,, and believe me it will be. There is laba daran mid dooro: To choose to fight whateva it costs and however the end will look like. This means a total bloodshed, loss of souls and distruction. Or to choose the other way running for elections and peaceful choice which has less potential ,,, this means the tfg gangs will still remain, use their tactics, money and their xabashis to be there forever. That is if they allow there wil be elections.

  12. ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia Sep 24 (Garowe Online) - Ethiopia's foreign minister, Seyoum Mesfin, is expected to arrive in Somalia soon to partake in meditation efforts to resolve a boiling political dispute between the country's top leaders, independent sources said. Seyoum Mesfin, Ethiopia's foreign minister The row between President Abdullahi Yusuf and Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi erupted in fervor last week when Attorney-General Abdullahi Dahir Barre ordered the arrest of Supreme Court Chief Justice Yusuf Ali Harun on corruption charges. [ Full story] Chief Justice Harun remains incarcerated at a Mogadishu jail, despite demands by Prime Minister Gedi for his immediate release. Gedi has since sacked the Attorney-General who has refused to step down, saying that only the president has the legal authority to terminate him. Foreign Minister Mesfin has close relations with both Yusuf and Gedi. He has mediated in the past between the leaders, both staunchly allied to Addis Ababa. A senior government official in Mogadishu who declined to be named told Garowe Online that it is "unfortunate" for a foreigner to repeatedly mediate between the Somali leaders. The Somali president and his prime minister will soon depart Mogadishu en route to Baidoa, 250km away, where Foreign Minister Mesfin is expected to land. ‘No dispute’ Somalia's parliament Speaker, Sheikh Adan "Madobe" Mohamed, aimed to quell growing concerns today when he told lawmakers in Baidoa that there is "no dispute" between President Yusuf and Prime Minister Gedi. He said the leaders have different views on some issues, but that this should not be misconstrued as a political dispute. Speaker Madobe blamed domestic and foreign media for "exaggerating" reports on the personal relationship between Yusuf and Gedi. "I appeal to you lawmakers to not take sides [in this issue]…and to work towards the greater good and uphold the constitution," the parliament Speaker said. Speaking about Chief Justice Harun's arrest, Speaker Madobe said it is not possible for the leader of the country's judicial system to be arrested without lawful justification. "Everyone must know that no one is above the law," the parliament Speaker said. Source: Garowe Online

If you blame the tfg they use warlords to hold a ministerial positions then you shouldn't do the same in order to please someone .... or some ppl. how come he is the defense while there are military generals and well experienced military personnel in the conference ?
