Gen Mohamed Ali Samatar's- family gain support of Somali's in diaspora
king_450 replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
He is not the only one but he knew all the wrongs that was done,if he accepts his wrong deeds and asks for forgiveness he might be spared ,and he must tell what he knew all openly. Also what happened to the millions of dollars that he stashed outside of somalia? money must be returned.Remember this man the regime that he was part of it used to come to innocent somalis house and remove them from their sleep at the middle of the night and god knows what happened to most of them. He perhaps signed and ordered the killing of thousands of somalis. -

Profiteers in Somalia Are Quick to Fuel Anarchy By JEFFREY GETTLEMAN Published: April 25, 2007 GALKAYO, Somalia — Beyond clan rivalry and Islamic fervor, an entirely different motive is helping fuel the chaos in Somalia: profit. A whole class of opportunists — from squatter landlords to teenage gunmen for hire to vendors of out-of-date baby formula — have been feeding off the anarchy in Somalia for so long that they refuse to let go. They do not pay taxes, their businesses are totally unregulated and they have skills that are not necessarily geared toward a peaceful society. In the past few weeks, some Western security officials say, these profiteers have been teaming up with clan fighters and radical Islamists to bring down Somalia’s transitional government, which is the country’s 14th attempt at organizing a central authority and ending the free-for-all of the past 16 years. They are attacking government troops, smuggling in arms and using their business savvy to raise money for the insurgency. And they are surprisingly open about it. Omar Hussein Ahmed, an olive oil exporter in Mogadishu, the capital, said he and a group of fellow traders recently bought missiles to shoot at government soldiers. “Taxes are annoying,” he explained. Maxamuud Nuur Muradeeste, a squatter landlord who makes a few hundred dollars a year renting out rooms in the former Ministry of Minerals and Water, said he recently invited insurgents to stash weapons on “his” property. He will do whatever it takes, he said, to thwart the government’s plan to reclaim thousands of pieces of public property. “If this government survives, how will I?” Mr. Muradeeste said. Layer this problem on top of Somalia’s sticky clan issues, its poverty and its nomadic culture, and it is no wonder that the transitional government seems to be overwhelmed by the same raw antigovernment defiance that has torpedoed earlier attempts at stabilizing the country. Granted, many of the transitional leaders acknowledge that they have made mistakes and that they have not played the clan politics as deftly as they could have. But they say they believe that there are some Somalis — actually, many Somalis — who will never go along with any program. “Even if we turned Mogadishu into Houston, there would still be people resisting us,” said Abdirizak Adam Hassan, chief of staff for Somalia’s transitional president, Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed. “I’m talking about the guys bringing in expired medicine, selling arms, harboring terrorists. They don’t have a clan name. They’re a congregation of people whose best interests are served by no government.” In the past month, the resistance has intensified and more than 1,000 people have been killed or wounded as the country has sunk into its deepest crisis since the famine days of the early 1990s. Most of the victims are civilians, like Amina Abdullahi, who recently fled Mogadishu with two small children holding her hands and a baby tied to her back. “I don’t understand why this is such a problem,” she said. “If people don’t like this government, can’t they wait until there is an election and vote them out?” American diplomats had mostly shied away from Somalia since the infamous “Black Hawk Down” episode in 1993 when Somali militiamen shot down two American helicopters and killed 18 United States soldiers. But now the Americans are involved again, driven by a counterterrorism agenda and armed with a pledge of $100 million to rebuild the country. And it is exactly this kind of hefty support that is fueling the resistance’s urgency, because the opportunists sense that this transitional government, more than any other, poses the biggest threat yet to the gravy days of anarchy. Somalis are legendary individualists, and when the central government imploded in 1991, people quickly devised ways to fend for themselves. Businessmen opened their own hospitals, schools, telephone companies and even privatized mail services. Men who were able to muster private armies, often former military officers, seized the biggest prizes: abandoned government property, like ports and airfields, which could generate as much as $40,000 a day. They became the warlords. Many trafficked in guns and drugs and taxed their fellow Somalis. 1 2 Next Page » Mohammed Ibrahim and Yuusuf Maxamuud contributed reporting from Mogadishu, Somalia. What are we coming to "Riyo Ku dirir miyaa la noqday"? Having said that i went to look for this dream and looked this book called the dream book and "here is what i came up to translate this dream! "To dream of a war, signifies disorder and chaos in your personal affairs. You also be experiencing some internal conflict or emotional struggle. You are feeling torn between aspects of yourself. Perhaps the dream may indicate that you are being overly aggressive or you are not being assertive enough"

We Must Not Let Another Genocide Happen In The Somali Peninsula

JB, you are forgetting one thing. The Genocide File Genocide In Galcayo (USC's assault In the Mudug Region) by Concerned Somalis March 19, 1991 Brief This document was released by a group called the Concerned Somalis on 19 March,1991 in Washington DC in a protest against a genocide committed in Galkayo. The Release describes some of the atrocities of the USC fighters against the civilian population of the town. Genocide In Galcayo (USC's assault In the Mudug Region) Concerned Somalis - March 19, 1991 At 3:00 A.M. on February 26th , 1991, the USC attacked Galcayo, the capital of the Mudug region in the central rangeland of Somalia. Initially, 1000 highly trained commandoes infiltrated the city, entered the homes of the civilian population and slaughtered the women, the children, the disabled and the elderly. Simultaneously, professional soldiers armed with heavy artillery and rockets bombarded Galcayo indiscriminately. Recent reports estimated the civilian casualty to number 500 dead ,1000 wounded and 200 hostages. On February 28th 1991, USC London office announced that the city of Galcayo was " liberated from the remnants of the Siyad Barre's regime." This assault was directed against the civilian population of the ****** clan that inhabit the Mudug and Bari regions. USC carefully and meticulously planned the operation, targeting the elders, the intellectuals and the business men and their families for elimination prior to the indiscriminate bombardment of the city. Astonishingly, the attack on Galcayo followed after USC sent a well known Somali nationalist, Mohamed Abshir Muse ( a prominent ******) as an envoy to extend USC's willingness to include the Mudug and the Bari region in a reconciliation talks. Despite, the reign of terror in Mogadisho against all ****** Civilians, the Mudug and Bari regions were willing to negotiation with the USC to establish a post Siyad Barre democratic government and an end to bloodshed and destruction. Unfortunately, the Galcayo attack was nothing but a genocide attack based on extermination of ****** clan. The question is what did USC achieve by attacking Galcayo and why did the USC attack Galcayo? 1. In the Galcayo attack the majority of the dead and the wounded were women, children and elders over 70 years of age . Some of the elders and their families who were butchered by the USC are: Warsame Abdi Xoosh ( 85 years old) Jamac Bixi (78 years old) Mohamud Haji Xassan (70 years old) Ahmed Xashi ( nickname Xudi, over 80 years old Mohamud Mahad (78 years old) Mohamud Ali Nur (70 years old) These elders were prominent men who had opposed the Barre's regime and had been subjected to frequent detention and abuses. 2. The attached USC communiqué dated March 3,1991 attests that USC had waged a " large scale offensive aimed at liberating Mudug and *********ia regions" and the communiqué gleefully claims that USC had " smashed the rest of ****** ( enemy) forces." This press release clearly shows USC's motivation in attacking Galcayo. First of all, Galkayo was liberated from Siyad Barre's forces long before the United Somali Congress was formed in 1989 and before the civil war reached Mogadisho. Galcayo is the capital city of the Mudug region which gave rise to the first popular appraisal and armed insurgency against the Barre regime. The Somali Salvation Democratic front, (SSDF) formed in 1978, waged a bitter battle against Barre's armed forces for over a decade in the Mudug and Majarteenia regions. The Barre dictatorship retaliated against the civilian population with mass massacre, prosecution, indefinite detention, and summary execution of dissidents. Siyad Barre's professional army were instructed to destroy the towns, poison the wells and rape the women. At the time Siyad Barre enjoyed the support of most Somali clans, and this campaign were carried out by army composed of all clans. In fact, General Galaal, who is today the commander of the USC militia attacking Kismayo and the southern regions, in 1980 was the commander of the Barre's army that committed the brutal atrocities in the Mudug and *********ia. Ironically, Siyad Barre considered the clans that inhabit the Mudug and *********ia as threat to his regime. In a systematic manner, Siyad Barre's regime destroyed these regions socially and the economically. The main exports of *********ia and Mudug are livestock, hides and skins and frankincense and myrrh. By decree, The export of frankincense and myrrh, and hides and skins were made illegal and the right to export were given to Siyad Barre's cronies. The Bossaso port which used to be the main port for the export of livestock, was inactivated and the trade was diverted to the ports of Mogadisho and Berbera. The economic war waged against Mudug and *********ia region by the Barre's regime, was coupled with political repression of elders and intellectuals from these regions. In early 1980's the SSI)F operated radio Kulmis which used to broadcast the atrocities committed by the Barre's regime, and use to urge the Somalis to unite against the Barre's dictatorship. Unfortunately, it took a decade before other regions followed suit and revolted against the dictatorship. By 1989, Mudug and *********ia has become in all aspect independent from Barre's regime and established an administrative rule, 3. The USC communiqué also characterizes SSDF forces lead by Ali Badiyo and Jamac Ali Jamac as the enemy and claims that the " so called" SSDF have been defeated. It is incredible that Ali Badiyo and Jamac Ali Jamac who have been in solitary confinement for 10 and 19 years respectively are now considered enemies while Mohamed Aidid, Siyad Barre's ambassador to India as late as 1987 is now the" liberator." According to the USC communiqué, Mohamed Aidid is the " Commander in Chief of the USC military forces and the de facto leader." Hence considering the above mentioned facts one can only conclude that USC attacked Galcayo not to liberate but to consolidate the political power of all of Somalia into the hands of the USC. The USC is exclusively clan based and can not be elevated to a national level, unless the aim is to establish another dictatorship. Unfortunately ,what USC achieved is: a) hundreds of unsuspecting civilians have been butchered. b) the city of Galcayo had been destroyed. c) the national reconciliation has been postponed indefinitely. d) USC ignited a war against the civilians in the central rangeland. e) it has dealt a blow to Somali nationalism. f) it has brought instability into the central rangeland of Somalia. g) it has transformed the conflict to USC against SSDF and its allies, In conclusion, the Galcayo attack made the USC a major shareholder in the record of human rights abuses in Somalia. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Pages : Genocide in Galkayo ( page 15) (Page 16) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Feature] Copyright © 1999 by somaliawatch.org. I am very proud to see my habaryaro helping the killers in every part of the rest of somalia. But Somaliland must be very carefull not to mingle so deep that it will cause our seperation from the rest of somalia very hard, yes i am all for helping any one who needs help by providing moral support and not bringing them to the somaliland terroritory. We will support you to get better and go fight for another day in your neighborhood but not in somaliland. somaliland is sealed for good and no one can get in. Y'all have all the help you can get within your turf. Now why did i say somaliland must not get involved deeper is this. There are still people who have blood in their hand who raped, sodomized and we must not bring those thugs to the terroritory of somaliland so they might not infect their cultural behavior to the good people of somaliland. We must stop this political dance and see the whole picture, any one who needs help will be helped for the time being.
