  1. What is up with madoow and timo? Wherever they are--be in Africa or Caribbeans--they are beyond obsession of hating the way their natural hair looks. Maskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar, It's the hangovers from slavery and colonialism. White peope spend enormous sums of money on their skin, especially facial make-up. It's a billion dollar industry.
  2. Salafi online, Sxb, it was a long article and am sorry to say that it was quite disappointing actually. Sheikh Al Albanee is a master in hadith matters and I wouldn't even question his knowledge but this whole article seems like an anti Sufi and Shi'a article which covers some aspects of 'eenah. I understand that he is saying that we Muslims need to get back to the fundamentals, but this article was very meagre in terms of offering the reader insights or points that one can benefit from. Would stopping to 'build mosques near graveyards' and quit dealing in 'eenah solve the Ummah's problems? There must be more to our ailment sxb.
  3. I think he looks more humble than he did with the moustache. He somehwat resembles the late Edward Said. The plight of Saddam is not surprising, as Allah (SWT) told us in the Noble Qur'an... "O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors; they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust. (The Noble Quran, 5:51)" He was an unjust ruler who created alliances with the west and they used him to try and stop the Islamic Revolution from spreading. Today he is being charged with starting the war with Iran! lol. He was helped by the Americans and Brittish to fight the Iranians and he is today charged with starting the war. Atleast Khomeini died with dignity and is respected by people all over the world.
  4. Again we can see the double standards, hypocrisy and lies. If one was to compare these ‘compensation’ payments with those of the Lockerbie victims families where $2.7 billion was demanded for 270 families we can clearly see that the West views the Muslim life not even a millionth of its own citizens – hence the inhumane term ‘collateral damage’. All non whites are what is usually referred to as unpeople. http://www.peace-not-war.org/Music/TheUnpeople/
  5. Q, I hear but never listen to what Bush has to say. How can he give a lesson democracy and justice while his govt is ILLEGALY holding prisoners in Guantanamo Bay? How could he give lessons in democracy, freedom and justice, while he disregards and ignores those who are in acute need of help (like the Dalfur in Sudan and the whole population of Congo) and invades the most literate and prosperous nation in the Middle East just to make it a shit-hole? The west is not out to help Arabs prosper and build democratic govts, they are there because the resurgence of Islamism in that region scares the shit out of them. The country they have their eyes on this time is Iran. Iran is a country where 62% of uni students are females, one of the vice presidents is a female, women are also represented in the Iranian parliament and in every other sector. Like the author said, they'll support countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, countries where women aren't visible or publicly represented in any way, have no voting right and can't even aqcuire a driving lisence. It tells you about the people you are dealing with here. They want nothing good for you. PS: Like the bro above mentioned Algeria, the plight of the Algerian people should serve as a good example to any Muslims who naively think that the west wants what's best for Muslims.
  6. NGONGE, I think it is called 'Somali' because it is found in areas where Somalis live in northern and north eastern Kenya. Gerenuk on the other hand is a Somali word that has been adopted by the world. It even has the body structure of a Somali, lol. It's such an elegant looking animal.
  7. I am glad it scared the living daylights out of someone Those two shades of grew didn't seem the same to me either. The 'Jesus' image below is one of the most amazing illusions I have ever seen. Follow the instructions and you'll be surprised. Jesus Optical Illusion Image What you should do for the black and white optical illusion image above: Stare at the center of the image above for at least 30 seconds. Then look at a blank white wall, or a peice of paper. What do you see? On this page you'll see that the after image of the black and white image above is much stronger than the one in color below. Take your time, sometimes it takes an additional 20 seconds before your eyes can really focus on the after image. Now, instead of black and white, lets try color! For the first optical illusion image above you are looking at a human face straight on. Even though it is much more fuzzy of a picture, your mind has an easier time filling in the blanks. Can you tell who this man with a beard is above? It isn't just any old man, it's Santa! You may need to stare at the Santa optical illusion longer than you stared at the Jesus optical illusion in order for the after image to be visible to your eye.
  8. Hi sxb, I am very skeptical regarding Turkey's inclusion tyo the EU. There are a list of countries that have been accepted and others being considered to join the EU and Turkey got side-stepped. I for one hope that they come to their senses and stop trying to impress westerness in order to be let in in this exclusive club. Every 'civilisation' has a 'core state', a power that looks after their interest and Muslims lack one. There are various reasons for that that we need not go into at the moment. Turkey should take on the role of leading Muslims in every field and stop building alliances with the west while making enemies of its Muslim population and neighbours. I changed the word 'kufaar' to 'git', lol, before you even responded. I had realised my mistake, thanks for pointing it out though. I always get annoyed when talking about him, he brought the Turk house down and denied Muslims worldwide a potential core state. I am a greater believer of democracy and I think is the best system we have today. You show me a substitute and I will follow you! The susbtitute is Islam. No matter how viable it might seem to you today, it should be the model we believe in and hope to see make it to the public sphere. In our model, we would have a type of democracy where the people elect the leaders. But there should be a governing body that sees to it that pious, just and straight-forward leaders are chosen to lead the country. On serious note though, if I ever run for an office I would like you to be by my side and do the political analysis for me, though you will have to be a bit diplomatic sometimes, i.e. laugh while you are killing, lol! LOL, you know that I am extremely diplomatic. But unfortunately I believe that a job in politics would wither my myocardium.
  9. I am one of the "less read nomads" and Islamic Philosophy isn't my field so take it easy with the patronising mate. The purpose of this thread was to enquire about the rational legitimacy of Religious Irrationalism...That there is not a demonstrative proof of the existence of God is not an opinion but a logical consequence. Given that there are no purely...proofs or disproofs of the existence of a Diety , what ought a reasonable person to do? I am a simple person who at times tends to get confused with words. English is also a language I haven't such a high command of, so please bare with me. Are you trying to find rationalism in something that is irrational? Islam is an irrational belief system in the sense that you believe in Allah (SWT) and you do not go about using reason or facts but instead you follow revelation, intuition, instincs and in your case Irfan and mysticism. This is the basis of Islam and these feelings are not rational, but are based on faith. You sound like a reasonable person but you believe in Irfan, mysticism (it doesn't get more irrational than that)...how then do you rationally explain it? Aquinas, who was a rationalist and I suspect you are fond of, said; "...a number of dogmas which were impenetrable to reason must be accepted on faith alone." Me (and probably a few others) being a 'less read' nomad with various liguistic and philosophical impediments; please make your standpoint and aim much clearer in all this.
  10. Aeryn Sun, I am sorry I am no help but I just want to congratulate this dude. NGONGE, Congrats sxb. Whatever you do, do NOT stay in the delivery room. It is very traumatising and will dent you forever, lol. I had a mate who fainted at the moment he saw the baby come and a whole lot of placenta follow. They call it the tree of life, but that damn thing looks scary. After my mate told me about the fainting incident, I told him that he should be glad that he wouldn't be eating it. Have you ever heard of placentophagia? In some cultures, some people cook the placenta and eat it! Yuck!
  11. Hi Q, Nothing new or exciting in his speech. He confirmed the ignorance of his people; despite the long illustious history the Turks have had, he mentions a basketballer as someone the nation of Turkey is proud of. He also praised Kemal Attaturk, the secularist ******* whose aim was to eliminate Islam from the public sphere. He wants Turks to be proud of Attaturk, a git who has denied Muslims a core state. He claimed that he wanted Turkey to be part of the EU and that would end the 'clash of civilisations' and make it a historical myth. Ironically, Samuel P. Huntington, over 10 years ago in his book "The Clash of Civilisations" clearly stated that the state of Turkey would NEVER be accepted into the EU simply because EU was a Christian union which wouldn't allow over 60 million Muslims to trade and roam freely within the union. He also did his regular Iran bashing, the only theocratic state us Muslims have. He disregards the significance of the Islamic Revolution and called the Iranian leaders "tired, discredited autocrats who are trying to hold back the democratic will of a rising generation". As usual, he depicts the Zionist nation as a peace loving people and he called the resistance of the Palestinians "terrorist murderers that re setting back the good cause of the Palestinian people." By this, he is just confirming his right wing mentality and the neo-con strangle we all know is choking his nation. He clearly shows that his govt doesn't want to see Islam in the public sphere but instead they want leaders like the ones they installed in Afghanistan and Iraq to rule the Muslim world. As a Muslim, I am insulted and appalled (AS USUAL) by his speech...and the way his govt conducts its foreign policy.
  12. Salafi online, Thx for the reminder. Are these extracts from Kitabul Tawheed by Sheikh AbdulWahhab?
  13. Nur bro, I read through it and think that I have read that piece earlier on somalinet, it was very familiar and I remebered laughing when the Xuri said "Iwant you Nur"; but I could be wrong. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it very much. However, I didn't see how the story had anything to do with Ghaib in the context we were in. Was this a dream you had had that felt like a journey to the unknown OR was it a fictional story that talks about the unknown? Could we say that the people who hallucinate are seeing Ghaib? Some time back, I worked with patients, some of whom had illusions and saw things the rest of us 'healthy' people couldn't see. I had one patient swear that there was a Turkish looking (he was probably dark haired with a moustache) man standing on a cupboard peeing on the floor while laughing at her. The patient also claimed that about 100 short Chinese men were running around in her room that morning before I stepped in. This was quite hilarious (but I didn't laugh or directly disregard the patient's claim) as I knew that there weren't any Chinese and that the floor was not urinated on. Now, this patient could have genuinly seen these things and they could be things that are beyond my perecption because they belong to the Ghaib. The patient thinks that she is going crazy since no one could confirmed what she was seeing; but I think (or atleast speculated in my mind)that Allah (SWT) had made it possible for her to view another dimension, making her what we 'normal people' refer to as clinically insane. What is your take on this?
  14. Thanks sxb, i'll read it later tonight.
  15. Mutakalim, I said that your reasonning sounded like the Asharite vs Mutazilah line of thinking. I didn't claim that you were an Asharite. The Mutazilah adopted Greek philosophy and made reason the main criterion for truth and therefore identifying the sphere of religion with the sphere of philosophy. I asked whether you were content with the Qura'n, it is because Islam's authority is based on revelation. The Mutazilah reduced and destroyed the personality of God by trying to reason their way through everything and were later branded heterics. The reaction was eventually the total distancing from anything philosophical by the Zahirites; who followed things blindly without applying any thought or reason. They condemned anyone who tried to rationalise the deen and branded those who talked about scientific matters as innovators. The Asharites who came later were somewhat a bridge between Mutazilah and Zahirites. The Asharites differed from the Mutazilah on the attributes of Allah (SWT). Allah (SWT) is unique and cannot be comprehended by man, unless if we follow what is wrttien in the Qura'n. The Asharites even forbid associating any attributes to Allah (SWT) unless mentioned in the Qura'n. They also made a clear distinction between Allah (SWT's) attributes from His essence. So sxb, what you are doing is taking us back to the Mutazilah line of thought, making 'logic' or reason the only criterion for truth. The first step to becomming a Muslim is taking the kalimah, 'La Ilaha IlaLah'. Bottom line is, you either believe in God or you don't; knowledge would facilitate the enhancing of your imaan, but first you need to have faith. Mysticism and I'rfan are religious dispostions that I esteem are more favourable and attractive than arcane orthodoxy. Does that make you a Shi'a or a Sufi bro?
  16. Nur, Thanks sxb for your reply. The fourth dimension was the Ghaib. Could you talk about it a bit more detailed?
  17. On the other hand, there are many other things that women are better than men, such as organization, cooking, cleaning and other important skills. 508, The best chefs and dishwashers in the world are men, what were you thinking ?
  18. THE MANS GUIDE TO FEMALE ENGLISH We need = I want It's your decision = The correct decision should be obvious by now Do what you want = You'll pay for this later We need to talk = I need to complain Sure...Go ahead = I don't want you to I'm not upset = Of course I'm upset, you moron! 19. Click on the link below and make sure you have your speakers on. It's interesting to say the least. http://www.liquidgeneration.com/sabotage/optical_sabotage.asp
  20. Nur, I agree with you that it is our own making, but we should try and call a spade what it is. If you believe that the flooring of the twin towers was orchestrated, then you shouldn't shy away from calling it an attack on Islam. Whether it was done by the kufar themselves or some misled brothers (unconsiously) running some neocon agenda, Islam is indeed under attack. I do believe that we brought it onto ourselves, becasue Allah (SWT) has promised us victory over all evil around us in whatever shape or form, as long as we follow what HE has ordained. But the 'devil from within' is the most dangerous one.
  21. Amazing! May Allah (SWT) reward the afflicted with Jannah.
  22. Nur, It's sad that the term 'freedom fighter' doesn't exist anymore. Anyone who offers resistance is rendered a 'terrorist'. Sxb, why are you feeling shy to say that this is a war on Islam and not a war on terror? There is a hidden agenda here don't you think? The likes of Wolfowitz, Perle and Kristol are taking on from where Trotsky, Zinoviev and Kamenev left. First it was the reds and now it is time for the greens, don't you think?
  23. SisSade, The same people who sell the 'anti-virus' spread the bug. Remember the Y2K scare? The 'experts' who constantly remidned people about the dangers are the same people who made billions in the 'preventive measures' they forced multi-national companies and govts to undertake.
