  1. Nothing to report about the game, I am sure you watched it on TV and with commentary. Cuople of things though: 1- The zimbabwean's sitting next to me were saying 'this brazil team beat Messi and co 3-1, so if we can lose by 3-0, then it means we are closer to Argentina.' 2- I managed to breifly talk to Dunga, and I was amazed that he knows what people are saying about him and Ronaldinho. In fluent Somali, he told me " waan la socdaa Tuujiye iyo Bob waxay meelahaa ka aqrinayaan. I know how to shut their mouths with breath-taking counter-attacks against Spain, Holland and England." 3- Mid Zimbabwean ah oo rinji yellow ah ismariyey who looked weird ayaan sawiray, markaas anigoo is leh wuu xanaaqi, yuu ii yimid and then he said, " Did you get my back as well? Kaka ayuu ku qoray jidhkiisa at the back and he wanted to show me that. 3- If you have seen nin dheer, oo timo dheer leh oo waxoogaa yar Iranian aad moodo oo caruur ag fadhido, you have seen me. Waa maxay ninkan madoow ee uu Bob igu tilmaamayo? 4- Felipe Melo, Kaka, and Fabiano were poor and a major concern, but the team looked confident and tactically very disciplined. Gilberto Silva actually played very well.
  2. It was Tuujiye who said Serbia is going to be big thing. They might yet prove to be strong, but from what I saw against New Zealand, they are very much an average side. Off to the National Sports Stadium. Ngonge, Tv'ga igala soco, the match is on DSTV. Last night, a Somalilander guy here Ahmed-wali actually went to the Airport and managed to shake hands with Kaka and co under the plane. Wuxuu raacay Zimbabwe football Association. Waa nin dhib badan oo ilaa Mugabe xaaskiisa hadaad tidhaa wax baa iga galay, ina keen unbuu ku odhan. I worry for him.
  3. Universal TV did nothing wrong. Why would they have to apologise for telling a story of someone who draw cartoons of the prophet, when it was clear they were very angry like the rest of the muslim community. Xisbul Islam and Alshabab are against everything. They would have probably issued a fatwa against Ngonge and me if they knew we write stories on SOL as well.
  4. Bob and Norf are confused souls when it comes to football. Sida kale waa niman aqyaar ah, laakin dhinaca kubbada habaar baa kaga dhacay. Kolba meel bay u boodaan. That is why we still don't know who their team is in the World Cup. Their intention is to come up with 'soo idiin ma sheegin so and so will be strong' if any of the 32 teams they support in the World Cup wins or goals to the semi-finals. And indeed, you can not get it wrong if you tick all! Norf - England Bob - Holland Tuujiye - kolba qoloda badisa That is how we will take them, and we are not going to accpet if Bob later comes up with Argentina or Norf says he was for South Africa. Aniga meel qudha unbaa la iigu soo hagaagi: Brazil.
  5. Nuune, adigu maxaad nooga qasaysaa? Noo daa, waa billaa photoshope.
  6. Ta kore ayaa fiican! Disproportiate'ka ayey noogu baxdaa. BTW, the below photo is photoshopped. Look at the cut in the stripes.
  7. I conceed, you are right on this one.
  8. Ngonge, what is your point? Turkey have shown a commendable resolve to stand up to the Israeli's. I don't think they can do much more than diplomatic posturing but even that is what we lack from the Arabs. Erdogan is my man!
  9. Haatu, The brazil you once knew failed to win the World Cup for 24 years until the emergence of hard-tackling Dunga, Mazinho and the likes.

  11. You are not what you think of yourself, but what people think of you. That is how a age-old Somali adage goes. I think Somaliland is now seen by most SSC as a clan attackiing another clan's land. We will see how it works out. But as a reminder to you, when Jalle Siyaad was running riot in Hargeisa, the locals (SNM) saw it as clan X attacking clan Y. And that was how it turned out to be in the final analysis! But clan X here was pretending to be a government. Do you see any parallel with the current situation?

  13. I will tell him he needs to drop Gilberto Silva. That is the weak link adeer. They play Zimbabwe because they are only working on tactics, but are ready otherwise. This team is not like England, they are sure of themselves. Tell me if you still think England is great with that back-line and midfield? They are even worse than I thought. Incidentally, Serbia, Spain, England were all exposed. But it is wrong to read too much into these frendlies. I think Brazil will win 1-0 or 2-0 against Zimbabwe. But there are some decent players in Zim as well, notably one Cutbert Malajila and Tafadzwa Rusike. Zimbabweans don't like Benjani Muwariwa of Manchester City. He is really bad. Sometimes, you need to be lucky in football. That is why Malajila is still here but Benjani is playing in Premier League.
  14. The issue is not seeing Brazil play. I watched them against Italy last year and I am planning to watch Brazil/Ivory Coast game (although I didn't buy the ticket yet). But, who would have thought Brazil will come to my door in this marginal country? I couldn't believe it when i heard. You know I almost missed it. I read on brazilian blog that they will play in Tanzania and come here on June 7. I planned my field mission accordinly, only to find that they are actually coming here this Wednesday. Tuujiye came to my mind. Qumaygaasi waa fooxle weyn. I thought inuu i habaaray. Then, I asked for special leave for the day and I was granted, although I was sure the boss was displeased with the request. Markaa, hadda waxaan rabaa inaan Kaka iyo Robinho xoog isugu duubo oon idhaa General Duke waataan waayaa, hadaad koobka qaadi waydaan inaan xilo furi!

  16. Mr. Somalia, Let us be honest here. From what I read on SOL last week, a group of PL military originally from SSC deserted and went to fight along their kins in Darwiishland saying 'they cannot stay awake keeping the peace of fish-eaters when their own children are massacred by maruading militia from Somaliland.' The link is here in SOL: "caroortayaddii oo la laynayo miyaan ilaalinaa amaanka dadkan kaluunka cuna.". That is what they said. Why is this important? it is important because political positioning among Somali clans is increasingly taking the shape of FISH-Eaters Vs non-fish eaters. Take Mogadisho. The part of the anarchists who hail from Galguduud and goboladda dhexe are anti-Ethiopia. Contrast this to their brethern anarchists, the likes of Mohammed Dheere, Ali Gheedi and Sheikh Hotel. They are all rooting for Ethiopia. Take the example of SSC. The part of it which is afflicted with the fish-eating malady is led by Ilkajiir and is firmly pro-Ethiopian. The non-fish eating Daraawish are strongly oppossed to axmaaro. Could it be that fish, while undoubtedly nutritious, might also had the propensity to make its eaters cold-blooded? I don't know. The only excpetion to this rule is Rayaale, who comes from a farming community. But I heared even he has grown around the sea.
  17. Originally posted by Mr. Somalia: Cowke , you need to pipe down your nonsensicality, just for a once here! Irregardless of which Garaad supports Puntland or NOT, the fact that the SSC people are slowly coalescing behind their elders and uniting for their common cause, is indeed a worthy and honorable sight to behold. I wish my brethren ALL the success in their endeavors to rid themselves of the traitors in their midst who have brought so much opprobrium and disgrace to the proud people peoples of Sool, Sanaag and Cayn. Isha-Allah; victory is theirs, ALONE. Who thought these sound statements will come from the otherwise vagrant Mr. Somalia!! I fully agree with him. Cowke cut it adeer. Stop the horseshit about Pirate-land. The liberation of Darwiish-land has started.
  18. Didn't you notice the fanfare about Ethiopia opening an 'Embassy' in Garowe? Nimanku waa cajiib ninyahoow. Sida dumarka ayey Xin u nool yihiin. Might have been better to call themselves XINLAND, rather than Puntland. I have a proposal. A land swap with the ONLF. If they love Ethiopia so much, let them take Dhagaxbuur, Qoraxeey, Godey, Afdheer and give us the barren fields of Mudug and Nugaal.
  19. He is not diplomatic, but all he said is true odaygu. Hal reer oo isbalaadin wada ayaa meesha qasaaya. Nina shaati dawladnimo looma soo huwan karo, adigoo marka hore shaati qabiil wax ku raadsaday.
  20. Pirates never learn from the paralysis of a borrowed might. Wali ma Itoobiya dhul noo qaban bay ku jiraan?
  21. Spain qashin maaha, laakin they are very much beatable. I have always been warning against countenance of those who think this team will run over opponents. Their defensive frailties was there for all to see. England have done nothing to get my confidence. By the way what has Capello achived so far? Beat Croatia, yes. But he is yet to deliver a good result against a top team. And I was impressed by France's passing and speed against Tunisia (although they didn't win) than England's game against Mexico and Japan. England are there for the taking. I can see highlight heros oo qiil ka raadinaya so and so was in gear 1 or 2 hogwash. Holland were excellent in attack, not good in defence. Ivory coast played very well (I was impressed with them), but as expected where there is no defence, you conceed easy goals. That is why I keep on saying that Brazil's seemingly blunt attack (which I do not think they are), will be more than offset by other teams defensive problems. Still, Brazil looks the most balanced team of all. Arguably, brazil's weakness is said to be up front, but Robinho, Fabiano and Nilmar are decent strikers.
  22. The god of football has spoken; and we now know it is not the pretender Tuujiye or the highlight hero Norf who would be rewarded for their football passion. It is not Ngonge and Nuune who take football as part-time passion. It is the dedicated Brazil fan A&T who will reap the rewards of undying love for the selecao. So, on June 2 (Wednesday) the Samba boys will be facing the Warriors (Zimbabwe's National Team) at the chinese-built magnificient National Sports Stadium in Harare. And my boys have already asked for leave from their school for the match. The day coincided with a field mission I planned to go out of Harare, but I have since asked for a postponment of the trip by one day. This will be the second time I was able to watch Brazil live, after their 2009 confederations cup match with Italy. It has now emerged that Dunga was here three months ago to assess the condition of the stadium. The team will probably stay in Meikles Hotel, where I and my other friends will try to arrange a function during the presence of the team, if it allowed by the Hotel. If we succeed in getting close to Kaka and the rest, one message I intend to tell them is that they should play hard just to shame Tuujiye and Norf. If We are lucky to get pictures, I will post them here. Of course doning a yellow cap and with the Selecao jersey, which I bought three months ago. And on Thursday, India cricket team is playing Zimbabwe in Harare Sports Club. What a week of Sports it turns out to be!
  23. Juxa iyadu waaba mid kale! Hadaad tidhaa maxaad sheegtay, ma wax bay sheegtaaba lagugu yidhi bay ku oran'ba?
  24. Cameroun will go the farthest among the African teams. They may upset the Dutch in the first game. Forget about the Ivorians. Even North Korea might take points from them.
