Originally posted by nafta: Well, it's like this. Even if we're not related, I catch ur *** doing something unlawful, I'm still gonna report ur *** and have u thrown in jail. Capiche? Capisce. But Nafta, there are so many circumstances and so many variables that no one thing will apply to the whole premise. It's not about sharing DNA but the situation at hand. What if the person is falsely accused? What if it's you? What if there's a witch hunt? What if, what if, what if? It's easy to dismiss this as black and white. It's more gray than you or I could appreciate. But, it is wrong to harbor someone who knowingly commited a heinous crime such as murder and rape and such. You would have to be certain of their guilt, however. And that certainty is what makes this a slippery slope. Unless you were there yourself. But if you were there, then you either understand the circumstances, were a victim yourself or were an accomplice. And that changes the whole dynamics. This is an issue that is difficult to simplify. And believe or not, I've thought about it since I posted that knee jerk reaction of mine in the beginning.

Either way, Windoze is bad for you. Runaway.........

Ah, it's Friday again. A long week. A tough week. Things are calming down now. The weekend couldn't come fast enough. Now it's time for play. Wishing everyone a fantabulous weekend. Make sure to have a great time, hug a loved one and don't sweat the details. After all, life has but one finale: death. Peace.

Originally posted by NGONGE: Do you think creationism/intelligent design should be taught in science classes? How? Simply, no. Not as science for it is not "science" as you mentioned earlier. On the other hand, when was evolution taught in schools? I never had to take a Natural Selection course. In fact, my first introduction to it was in college. Regardless of which side of the fence one is, faith is the antithesis of science. Intelligent Design is based on Christian theology. As such, it's not even compatible with Judaism or Islamic theology. So not only is it not science, it's not even widely applicable as a faith based "theory". I wouldn't expose my kids to that kind of "teaching" in school.

Dating, hugging, kissing and all that is behavior unbecoming of a muslim. Having said that, your ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend deserve each other, like the betraying, two-bit cheaters that they are.

Hello, My name is Fidel Alejandro Fuentes. Let me welcome you to a magical place us nomads lovingly call SOL. To this freshman class I say we welcome you with open arms and great smiles. You are the newest addition to a long list of great residents and famous alumni. Please, make yourselves at home for you are home, at last. Here I hope you will find help in learning how to do the things you'll want to do on SomaliaOnline (SOL). The nomads here are your people. Some are younger than you and some are older. Some are nicer than you and some are not. Some will like you while others won't. No matter, this place we call home and we want everyone to have a safe, good time. As you know, this site is free. You pay nothing but you get everything. Learning, laughter, information on the homeland and other areas of interest to all of us. You will find knowledgeable people (like myself) here. Listen to those people carefully. You will also find not so knowledgeable people. Forgive them for they know not what they write. All in all, I'm sure you will love this place. You will come here to laugh and sometimes to cry. I do. The quality and quantity of therapy SOL provides cannot be measured in dollars and cents. So love it. Care for it. Learn from it. Teach it what you know. Grow with it and help it grow. Use it but don't ever abuse it. There's something called banning here. Which means if you don't follow Admin's ten commandments, you risk getting booted. Which is really bad once you get hooked on this place. The cravings are nasty and you might find yourself begging and pleading to get back in. So, show respect and you will receive it. Show anything else and you will be torn up. A process which is not too bad if you've got some thickness of skin. We all love each other here but once in a while it's hunting season and guns have been heard in the distance (although I've never been involved in any battles ). So welcome, again, and please read this FAQ so you would at least get the mechanics right. Ask any questions you have here and do introduce yourselves. Tell us a little something about you. Okay? keyboards away.............

I needed this waryaa Liibaanow. Specially today. Thank you. I'll settle out of court. How would you like the money? Money order?

Originally posted by Haddad: I don't think he'll be happy with how she dresses or her picture in a public forum. Man, it's the second time today I agree with Haddad. What's happening to me? His unhappiness with how she dresses we can't do anything about. But the fact that her picture is posted here, probably without her permission, is iffy. And she is HOT, too young for me though.

Originally posted by Haddad: What's your average timeframe of editing comments? Within a week, a month? I think a timeframe of a week(s) is reasonable. I myself edit my comments, but usually happens within days. Haddad is right (wince). Just how long do you need to edit or delete a message? Mine are within minutes and usually for grammatical or spelling errors I can spot. Otherwise I'm done with it. Imagine, probably happened on SOL, if you've been debating a topic with someone and you lost the debate fair and square, would you then go back 6 months later and make enough changes to make it look otherwise. That's just an example. What exactly constitutes a permanent record if 5 year old posts can be edited? Just a thought.

Originally posted by sheherazade: Will everyone just move on? Stay, leave just drop it. Sheherezade, in our eternal quest for attention and the lime light, unfortunately, some are unable to receive little or no attention. I like attention. But not too much. And not too little either. I have a two year old at home who will demand my wife and I stop talking if she's not included in the conversation. If we ignore her or ask her to be quiet as we're busy talking, she'd instantly transform herself into a 3' tall terrorist who would throw remote-controllers , even herself, everywhere. When that doesn't work, my beautiful, sweet, girl turns into a fountain of tears for no apparent reason, other than the conversation her mom and I are having. Only when full attention is restored does the jolly return to my little girl. This is the perfect time to train her about this. My point is, most of us outgrow this childish and destructive means of getting attention. And while we still crave attention we don't resort to near maddness to get it. Having said that, some never outgrow that toddler tantrum phase. Grown men and women may act as two year olds because they are unable to stand having attention not be squarely on them. We could be experiencing cases of the above on SOL. P.S. I would say that I've not myself fully outgrown that phase of a 2 year old. My excuse? I'm the first born in my family. Sue me!

Originally posted by Pacifist: Even grade schoolers now better than this. My clique and your clique, what a bunch of trash. Pacifist, who are you talking about? What cliques are you referring to? It'll be nice if you didn't talk in tongues and really let it all out. That would be great. The above are friendly requests, mind you.

I’m not enjoying my SOL experience anymore. The quality of the site is dropping and the clique remains. They ruin every topic we start and bully us into little trivial arguments. I can’t stand it anymore and think it’s best if I just quit. So that's how it went down? And how have you come across this sensitive information? What clique are you with and what are your people up to know? Ngonge, seriously, that was a very nice read. It must be ugly down here from where you're standing. Love the cat hug. Originally posted by Jacaylbaro: waar ninkii NGONGE miyuu waashay ??? ,,, mise ??? Ngonge, how could you even consider quitting? With responses like these, I'm staying till I die.

Originally posted by Ducaqabe: Fidel: It’s possible you’re becoming more of an over protective dad? No sir, not at all. If my children go through the effort and hard work of higher education, no man, no matter how good his character is, will marry any of them without having an equivalent level of education. That's not over-protective, it's just my law as a father. Degrees do matter my friend, Ducaqabe. If you don't think they do, even in matrimony ads, please pay a visit to any of the Indian matrimony sites where parents of the potential bride and groom not only list their child's educational credentials but also that of their desired mate. Some of those ads read like a resume. What do they know that we Somalis don't? Education was big in Somalia before Siyaad Barre came along. We had doctors, engineers, economists and all sorts of people trotting the globe for higher education. Then disaster hit. And the culture changed to one that believes somehow higher education is not what it's hyped up to be. Let's get back to the basics and put education above anything else. It's the only way to get ahead in this world. I bet you, Ducaqabe, that you would kick your sons behind (you won't have to worry about your daughter ) if he decided to drop out of high school. Are you gonna tell him about Peter Jennings and Bill Gates and encourage him to leave school at 16. I think not my friend. So why would you throw around your argument above?

Originally posted by Viking: A person should (optimally) have all three but it isn't the end of the world if he lacks a higher education; but you made it seem that way in your post. Plumbers and gas engineers (I've heard) make as much money as doctors in the UK, so if a person has a good character, is pious, honest and respectable (with an income)... should they not be appreciated as much because they don't have a BSc that will (only) earn them a few grand amore a year? A BSc doesn't make a happier marriage, we should therefore be more concerned about the moral decadance than we are about the economical decline of Somali men abroad. Brother Viking, I accept your argument hook , sink and barrel. It is however an argument that would be made to the statement or question: does a higher education ensure a happier marriage? Or does wealth contribute to a happier marriage? Important questions worthy of a study in their own right but not related to this study in any way. The latter looked at the mismatch between the number of women graduating from college and that of men today. Given the current rate of mismatch, it predicts what the future holds in terms of women and men in higher education. The chances of a plumber (male) marrying a doctor (female) are infinitely smaller than a doctor-doctor marriage. However, if the former do get married, their happiness is not what the study looked at. Who knows how happy they would be? It's the possibility or availability of equivalents to marry that it talked about. That's about it. Oh and a decadent person, educated or not is no good, we agree. Again, the study made no note of the character of men who drop out of school or the women who get a college degree. That was really not the point. Cheers.

^^^ No need to hide or duck dude. It may well be the median age is 21 or 16. It doesn't matter. The beauty of this thing is each one of us can have their own list of songs to put out there. For example, if you've ever wondered what makes Ngonge tick, what makes the man so violently logical, well you're in luck. Just click on his list and while reading his boredom thread, you will understand why the man is a ticking time bomb. Seriously though, disk space is cheaper than dirt now. Come on, if you don't want this just say so. Don't put Qaraami down. It's how we ALL got conceived. No?

As if Dave Chappelle didn't have enough problems with the establishment. Converting to Islam may be the nail in his career's coffin. Or may be not. He's a strong minded individual with enough talent a la Mohamed Ali to make this work. Switching religions is no easy task. I love Chappelle and wish him all the best in his career and his soul search. Wherever that leads him.

Fascinating. While I don't plan to have any more kids, it would have been nice to know about this before hand. My timing was actually more geared towards the start of the school year. I wanted, and do have, my kids' birthdays done before the school year begins. Ah well, may be in the next life.
