  1. With what passports are these mofos travelling around the world? Certainly not with a Somali passport.

Anyone interested in fantasy basketball here? The season begins in a month or so. There are free sites that host the fantasy teams and there others costing anywhere from $10 to $50. Here's a good site to learn about it. Ten to twelve teams are needed so that many people need to sign up. Once the site costs are paid, the remainder is paid to the champion and the runner ups. Let me know.
  3. The misinformed and racist rant of Ralph Peters is nothing to dismiss. He is targeting those who have little or no knowledge of Islam and feeding into their prejudices. However, we've all seen that one woman accompanied by a man wearing a t-shirt while she is covered from head to toe in sweltering heat. The author purposely, and mistakingly, blames that on Islam. It ties in really well with his war on terrorism (and profiteering) theme. Subjugate women then you're an evil that must be destroyed. While you have oil, that is. Islam forces no one to endure hardship and the author clearly does not know that or chooses to ignore it. The freedoms women in the west "enjoy" are often symbolic and on the surface. The author assumes that social harmony and gender equality are the norm here and that there are no problems what so ever. Scratch a little deeper and you will find that this is only myth. A fraud perpetrated on the rest of the world which is labelled backward and oppressive. The truth is neither here or there. The west has much to be proud of when it comes to progressive and powerful women movements. It does not, however, fly above other cultures high enough to claim any kind of superiority. It has its own backwardness, unfairness and oppression of women. Muslims face wars on many fronts but few are more damaging than a Ralph Peters who beats the drums of war while hiding behind the veil of gender equality. His ilk need to be engaged then exposed for what they are. War mongering elitists who neither care about women in Islam nor the "liberated" ones in the west.

  5. ^ LOZ, is this a consumer survey? Do I get an iPod out of this? I buy everything online (excpet groceries and gas). I also pay all my bills online. The internet is quite secure if you understand a little something about strong encryption. Although my card was stolen off a site once, I didn't have to pay anything. There's nothing like buying books or airline tickets online while in bed wearing a hoos gunti.
  6. m u h a m m a d, tell me saaxib, what redeeming qualities do the Vikings have to make them contenders and not the pretenders that they are now? Is it the Coaching? Their defense? Their receiving? Their rushing? Their special teams? Alas, their cheerleaders? Which is it saaxib? What is going to make this team win games, conference championships and superbowls? I await.
  7. I love fantasy games but I know no one in the UEFA league and worse, I get to see no games. Sorry.

What can Brown do for me? No one is that bad saaxib. Football is my passion. I was a rabid NBA fan until June 1998. I was in Vancouver, BC, at the time. It was a nice (rare) sunny day. I was watching Michael Jordan stick a dagger in the heart of Karl Malone and the Utah Jazz. The dagger was long enough to stab me too. I quit watching anything but the finals in the NBA. Then I discovered football. Ah, the muscle. The mania. The joy. The pain. What a sport!

Some topics are far too sensitive and joking around in them is a grave matter. I understand, now, and going forward, I will make every effort to save my shenanigans for more light-hearted matters. By the way, that was no trap, saaxib. It was not sincere though. Which is even worse. Point taken.

Shall we slay them instead? Just give me the word, I'll do it. I hate the way that JB dude swings his hips in that avatar.

Nazra, though I wish you well in your career and earning power, a little humility goes a long way. No matter how much you make, there will always be someone that makes more. If I tell you how much I make, will that change your mind about me? Will you come running to me as a concubine? And I don't make peanuts. Does that not put your dignity in question? Does not worrying about Gucci and Chanel put you in the frivolous category? Though education and hard work have much to do with income, being at the right place and the right time or knowing the right person(s) makes all the difference. Many hard working, educated folk do not earn their worth. If you're blessed, as you seem to be, count your blessings. It's easy to lose sight of what's important in the world. And no amount of Gucci will buy back your soul if you sell it. Be humble. Save your money. When someone asks how much you make, offer to lend them money. It works. If they say yes, lend it to them. They'll take enough time to pay it back for you not to see them for a while. God bless you and have a nice day.

  18. Originally posted by uchi: When will this nightmare end. When natural selection has taken its course. Let me explain. It's fair to assume our current predicament is due to many reasons none greater than clannism and the severe myopia that accompanies it. Seeing that myopia is a defect in vision, it is also fair to assume that those who are afflicted with it will soon become prey or have difficulty finding mates to produce myopic offspring with. Take that anology one level up. If clannist Somalis maintain this toxic blend of ignorance and arrogance (myopia), they will eventually become victims of such deadly path (prey) or will find no suitable, non-myopic, mates to reproduce with. Either way, they will eventually die off. We will then be left with those whom nature bestowed with perfect vision and endurance (to survive periods of myopic rule). Rejoice for that time is near.

Also explain how the will of Allah disallows a possible link between hurricanes and global warming. Finally, please explain how understanding the world we live in goes against the will of Allah. It really makes you appear uninformed if all you can add to the discussion is "Allah's will". Exlpore the topic and its theme. Think about it. Read about it. Add to it. Don't just throw in these apocalyptic two-liners, saaxib.

Originally posted by Alle-ubaahne: Believe it, as of now, I am another scientist who will always talk about the truth of what will happen definately in the day of judgement, and that all scientists will go to the hellfire if they don't believe in Allah and His Messenger. The argument can't simply be reduced to a choice between science or faith in god. The two are not mutually exclusive and they both serve a purpose. Global warming (or cooling as it did at some point in history) has evidence to support it. The (scientific) evidence of such phenomenon is documented, objective and reproducible. The leap to link the current warming of ocean water to human activities is conjecture at this point. We do know the earth's temperature, on average, has risen in the past 100 years. That means, on average, any given day is warmer than its equivalent 100 years ago. It is not a statistically insignificant difference either. We also know that the rate of increase of temperature (the slope of that function if you will) is more rapid (steeper) now than it was at the beginning of the 100 year period. Still, neither of the facts above conclusively indicate any human involvement. However, we do know that Carbon Dioxide and other gases known as Greenhouse gases (some produced naturally but lately by humans in ever greater quantities) do trap heat within the earth's atmosphere. This trapped heat causes the temperature of ocean surfaces to rise. Which, in turn, assists in melting of snow and ice on the earth's poles. The melting of such snow and ice makes earth (at least at the poles) darker which leads to even more heat absorption. Hurricanes by nature use warmer ocean waters to generate their awesome power. Their season in the Atlantic ocean runs in the summer months when ocean surface waters are warmest. Hurricane intensity studies show an increase in their destructive power (wind velocity) over the past few decades only to, inexplicably, coincide with rapid increase in greenhouse gas emissions, a rise in ocean temperatures and an increase in overall earth temperature. The problem of weather is a difficult one to solve. To add complexity by looking at patterns that normally occur in hundreds, if not thousands, of years makes it even more difficult. It is, however, fair to conclude that hurricane intensity and global warming may be linked. The degree of relationship is unknown at this time. Nonetheless, the conclusion (or leap of faith if you will) must not be dismissed as wishful thinking nor can understanding and accepting it, within the normal scientific guidelines, be labeled a heresy.
