^ Sheh, though Nur made a mistake (he still won't admit), it is clear he wants to make amends and do the right thing going forward. Mistakes are an equal opportunity employers. Even mighty Nur is not immune to them. Open that big heart of yours. I'm sure there's a goody bag or two in there for Nur. Fair?

^ Good to see you Sheherazade. May be you and I can do an interview? You know, I ask you questions on why women shouldn't tape their voices and you tell me how you feel about the Kyoto protocol. How about it?

Watch part of the documentary and weep. The "insurgents" didn't really lose as Rumsfeld claimed but the US did manage to kill so many women and children the stink of Fallujah's war car crimes is still in the air. Sooner, rather than later, the US will withdraw with its tail between its legs. There will be no 'Oil for Blood' program for decades to come. Not gonna happen. The Americans just don't know it yet.

Weekly Standard:the vehicle that made Iraq war possible
Castro replied to xiinfaniin's topic in General
^ Muhammad, all things considered, Friedman is the lesser of many evils. Though he is conservative and was for the invasion of Iraq, I think he is still better than the likes of William Safire. The latter is a genius of words and a snake of ideas. I sent him enough venomous emails these past 3 years to make me feel good. I don't even read the NY Times anymore. What rubbish! -
Weekly Standard:the vehicle that made Iraq war possible

^ I thought you were talking about Condi Rice for a moment there. What really amazes me is how such a movement like the neocon movement could successfully recruit the likes of Collin Powell and Condi Rice. It really must be their (neocon's) crowning achievement. To have someone who, presumably, grew up black in the south during segregation and the civil rights movement not only convinced of such nonsense but actively promoting it is beyond me walaahi. It's one thing to delude Joe Sixpack in Kansas that Iraq attacked the twin towers and, therefore, should be bombed into smitherenes but Collin Powel? Condi Rice? Walee some people may have all the achievements and accomplishments in the world but they lack the two things that matter most, integrity and compassion. Dave Chappelle said it best when, during the race draft, he demanded white people draft Condi Rice if they wanted to get Powell. As far as blacks, and all decent humans, are concerned, they can both burn in hell along with dubya, Rove, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitch and the rest of them cronies. Amiin. -
Weekly Standard:the vehicle that made Iraq war possible

^ Indeed. Atheer Baashi, you hit the nail on the head. Though the conservative movement is past the special interest status and is well into the mainstream, it did begin as such. The genius of this neocon movement, however, lies in its use of the media to perpetuate existing prejudices, volatile religious mantra and patriotism in order to achieve unparalleled heights. Fortunately, its core is rotten and based on greed, deception and a sense of superiority that lacks any ground. As we will see in the coming years, those who didn't know already, will find out just how virulent a movement it is. I can't wait for the ending of this story. -
Atheer Ducaqabe, that's it? So women can't go on the air? Can we get a second (and third) opinion on this? There's at least two SOL ladies whose voice I'd like to hear. And no, I'm not going to use it for any Fitnah. Seriously though, are there any ahadeeth or Quranic verses on this, besides the one you quoted? It's not like we're posting pictures on here. And anyone who would "get off" on just voices needs help anyway. What could we possibly do to prevent such a person from doing what they do? The web is littered with sites that cater to every fetish imaginable. Personally, I'd like to hear Bishaaro give a weekly commentary on working in corporate America. Sort of like the Dilbert cartoons.

^ This is really a community thing. We may be at each other's throats much of the time, but we'd all be concerned if anything happened to anyone. In that spirit, and being the vocal culture that we are, this is a natural extension to this forum. I mean, really, who wouldn't want to hear Mutakalim speak on any topic? Or Alle-ubaahne on liberal dirt bags? Or Tolstoy on Somaliland? Or Liibaan on Hockey? Or Ngonge on Lubna (and others)? Or Libaax on SOL's history and birth? Or Baashi on parenting? You see where I'm going with this, right? It's a good thing. Of course, it will be moderated as this site is and therefore, moderators will have their work cut out for them. In addition, an upper limit of 5 minutes should be the cap on how long an audio file is. We don't really care to hear more than that, do we?
-
^ Oh crap. LSK ain't kidding! Libaax, do you know of any voice altering software out there? I really wouldn't want the ladies in this forum to fall for my sweet, lulling voice. I mean the repercussions are enormous for all involved. Get ready for Castro's first unplugged session.

^ You really wanna hear what I have to say, Baashi? I'm honored and flattered. I'll give you the scoop on abortion, the politics of war, immigration, anarchy and secession in Somalia, gay rights, racism, sexism, political correctness, and last but not least, what I think of you and the rest of the nomads on SOL, individually. How about that, atheer? Bishaaro, atheer, you've called me papi once. Surely, you can do the atheer thing, no?
-
Atheer Baashi, thanks for the nice thought. I can see how interesting it would be listening to those who are social icons. As for SOL, it's bad enough I have to read the nonsense written here, must I hear it with my ears too? The nightmares will be endless, atheer.

I have no illusions about Somalia. It will not be fixed in my lifetime, therefore, I shall be buried either in south Texas or hopefully in the Carribean or South America somewhere.
-
^ Jaylaani, don't go there.
-
^ Both you and Ducaqabe are committing the cardinal sin of attacking the man and not his words. If you're unable to refute his assertions, which aren't very difficult to refute, then let it be.
-
^ Tell 'em, good Xiin. We've all got skeletons in our closets.

^ I'm sure the sheiks are doing a lot of good for which they don't get credit. They fill a vital role and they should be commended for all the good work done with the poor. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more to this cinema thing than we are hearing. For example, since there are no censoring agencies, it may be that these cinemas are running questionable material (e.g. soft porn) and not just the old Hindi movies. I mean it makes no sense to start this row now when Somalia has been in anarchy for 15 years.

Atheer thanks for the history lesson. Just a couple of things, are you saying: 1) My people took it up the a$$ from the british invaders and yours fought them? 2) My people are still taking it up the a$$ while yours commemorate the genocide of 1920? Fortunately, I am clan proof and don't believe in that nonsense. So I can't take any of this personally. It is, however, the standard operating procedure of a colonizer to pit one group of the colonized against another. He uses many means to do this, ranging from bribery, intimidation to what have you. Basic divide and conquer strategy. Individuals may have aided the british to help them rule Somalia. To say that entire populations of cities did so is asinine, atheer. Thanks for the lesson nonetheless. I'm sure I've learned something today.

^ Atheer cut the crap and move from the kingdom of fox you speak of. You can't have it both ways, brother.

What University or College Do You Attend???

THE University of British Columbia (UBC) -

Atheer, I'm a little slow so could you highlight those differences for me in a paragraph or two?

^ Atheer, it seems like we got off on the wrong foot. I was too harsh on you, I must admit. To begin, the term "kuffar" is a tricky one and certainly, the people of the book cannot be called kuffars. Second, humility and courage should be emulated no matter who exhibits them. Specifically in the case of Rosa Parks, we all owe much to her courage, and as a woman of color in a predominantly white country, you should be among the most grateful. Third, while Islam and the prophet (PBUH) have introduced "feminism" to the world, the rights and freedoms for which the prophet fought have been rolled back in the very lands the prophet came from. Modern day feminism struggles to regain these rights and freedoms. But, as has been discussed in this topic, it is a wordly movement, unlike the divine revelations of Islam, and therefore is subject to human malfeasance. What is the nonsense that i wrote?? That the Prophet Muhammad and his companions fought for years to bring us the religion?? That's a misrepresentation of my statement. Nonetheless, it behooves you to refrain from brandishing all non muslims as kuffar. Worse still, when a non muslim exhibits good qualities, it's a shame to dismiss them simply because of their religion.
-
^ Wa bilaa cajaaib. The nonsense that person wrote, and she wrote much but I repeated the most asinine part below for your convenience, does amount to hatred. we shouldn't emulate any kuffar people, no matter how humble or down to earth they are. And if you believe the statement above to be unworthy of my scathing remarks, you should transport your behind out of kuffar land right after Simple Woman does.

^ The ultimate achievement, saaxib. Nothing can come close to topping that.
