^ Indeed. God should be the only who takes it. But I've been told that some people, right here on earth mind you, kill other people. The "should" goes out of the window at that exact moment. We as a society must intervene to right the wrongs of the wicked and evil doers. Those who have no respect for the sanctity of others' lives cannot expect that respect for themselves. Provided there is no doubt they've committed the act.

Now, they're arresting him on ambiguous "immigration violation" charges, when so many people can testify that he indeed does have a greed card. Atheer, I'm not taking jabs at the sheikh. We just don't know what's going on. And I hope yours is just a slip of the tongue there and not of the mind.

^ Atheer Ducaqabe, there should be absolute transparency when collecting funds for a charitable cause. If rumor has it the sheikh swindled the flock, then a quick statement of the charitable account would have satisfied everyone, no? If the money was deposited in his own personal account and he's globe trotting (he was arrested at the airport), then where there's smoke there's a sheik with his hand in the cookie jar. It happens all the time and in all religions. We shouldn't be surprised it's happening to us. Of course, the FBI JTTF is not interested in the sheikh flying first class to Thailand but in what he did with the money and if he has a tattoo of Bin Laden on his biceps. We know little about this thing. Hopefully the sheikh will be vindicated and released. If he's a crook, then I'm sure the people he swindled would like to see him dealt with appropriately.

^ Atheer, let's just mutilate the man's genitals and get it over with. It's no joke and I'm not trivializing the plight of Somali women, but the punishment should fit the crime. This man is bordering on paying for the sins of all the misogynists out there. Nur should be held in high regard not because he's an "ordained minister" but for his efforts. Remember that. He is NOT Allah's agent in SOL. No one is. He was lambasted by every Tom, Ali and Mustapha. If he's not learned a lesson from this, I don't know what will teach him. If he has, it makes no sense to beat him black and blue. I am out of this topic. For good.

Weekly Standard:the vehicle that made Iraq war possible

^ Atheer Tukaale, no offence intended but you disrespect the topic, the poster of the topic and everyone participating in the discussion when you walk in announcing you've read none of it but want an executive briefing. Do your homework first then ask questions or give us your two cents. We are what we read, saaxib, and I wouldn't want my brother to be referred to as Joe Sixpack. -

^ Who said muslims are not Joe Sixpack? I certainly wouldn't exclude them. The six pack part may be but nothing else. The same propaganda works on us. What you need is the right mantra and anyone could fall for it. -
^ What I should have made clear was in cases where there is doubt, life in prison should be used instead of a death sentence. There will then be sufficient time (term of natural life) to find the truth, if there is one out there. There's no doubting the affinity of death sentences to blacks and the poor in America. It is important, though, to keep in mind mercy and compassion on the victims and their families is often neglected when years have passed and the inmate is ready to be put to death. When there's no doubt, gas the murderer within a year and get it over with.

^ We have a Watergate at our hands. I believe the rationale was not to move the focus from the audio thing and into petty little side fights. It may just work. Though this may be a case of Baashi doing the: ضربني و بكى سبقنى واشتكى

^ I know. That was a hillarious post by Ngonge. Pity it was removed.

As you said, Xiin, there are few conspiracies here. It's really all out in the open. The leveraging of all that's available (media, economic power, patriotism, fear, lies, you name it). I don't know if emulating that kind of behavior and ideology is most people's cup of tea. I believe it takes a certain breed to propagate such ideas and to implement them. I'm certainly not on of them. -
"Whip the chauvinist in peace"? There's something wrong with that sentence. Sheh has made her points loud and clear during Ramadan. I enjoyed reading her while I was "away". In fact, I venture that because of her, Nur went on a cruise in the atlantic. Be that as it may, flogging a dying or a dead horse (the mistake) brings nothing but ill will. Just how much is enough? That's all I'm asking.

^ Lovely one atheer. Just as a follow up on the Radio.blog issue: when I've readied the software, I was informed (by none other than LSK) that placing these songs would add a tremendous burden on the bandwidth of the site. Bandwidth costs money and none of us contribute to this site with anything but talk. It would cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a month to let Faarax listen to Magool (streamed from SOL) while he's chatting it up with Xalimo on IM. What is peculiar, however, is how LSK jumped on this so quickly? Could he have been thinking about it already? Does this not have bandwidth issues as well? Will this be a pay-per-listen type of thing? There you have it. P.S. I can't think of anyone I wanna hear other than the "eagle".

That's great Red Sea. Beautiful homes. All I need is to build another castle in the middle of all the misery, poverty and dispair in Somalia AND Somaliland. Thanks, but no thanks.

^ The meals part was morbid yet informative. I'm all for capital punishment (whether it's proven to work as a deterrent or not). The victims must get their justice. And to call the execution of a murderer "state sanctioned murder" is asinine. Where it gets tricky is when people get railroaded into death row because of poverty or race. In that case, life in prison is sufficient time for the truth to come out. Not to borrow anything from Kashafa, but if someone hurt my children on purpose, I will kill them and look in their eyes while doing it.

^ I did say the man has a big Bud. Well said atheer. P.S. Watch for Mutakalim to crack open a haughty one on you.

^ He may be. I haven't read the Times since Nov. 4, 2004. Yep. The day Bush won re-election. And I don't plan to read it again. Specially now when the op-ed section is pay per view. P.S. Though I've been reading Common Dreams for a while now, it and Democracy Now (sometimes the english Al Jazeera) have become my hang out area. -
^ Now you're messing with atheerkay Baashi. Watch out. He's got a big Bud! Atheer, there's no necessity in any of this. A voice is a voice is a voice. Perversion is another matter. Next thing you know, some dude may salivate over the words Bishaaro writes on here.
-
Yonis it's not the voice that is cawra, saaxib. It's the message that it carries. If someone is having phone sex (or chat or email or using a pigeon to deliver a letter), it's the message that counts NOT the medium. Let's not get too excited here. There's nothing wrong with a woman's voice. It's what that voice is used for that matters. Capisce?
-
So is it cawra or is it not? I doubt that it is.

^ Brown, you're right. There's little anyone can do about this over here. What's even more true and sad is the fact that Americans (the people) in general are just as appalled and helpless as we are. We tend to often forget that fact. Americans are clearly not represented by their administration. Though the latter always claims to be doing this in their name. That's one of the ways I reconcile living here with having the views that I do. Otherwise, I'd have gone nuts a while ago.

The "we're gonna smoke 'em out" mantra has been put to the test in Fallujah. The US finally "admits" using white Phosphorous in the city last year. As if we didn't know. Read about.
