Yes, I do. They are obligated to give back to the nation that educated them. That same nation, however, is probably yanking the rug from right under their feet. It puts an undue burden on them by sending them out of school to a place that lacks the necessary infrastructure to provide even minimal help. It's a conundrum saaxib. Only the very strong and selfless doctors could put aside their personal aspirations and struggle to practice high tech medical education with low (or no) tech medical facilities and token pay. One way to slow down the exodus is to force newly graduated doctors to practice for a certain number of years before being allowed to leave the country. Prevent them from getting their degrees upon graduation so they wouldn't head straight to the airport. After they've 'done their time', let them go wherever they want to go. If the real, and dire, need for their knowledge and services does not convince them to stay, they were never going to stay.

^ War ileen maxaa aduunka jab iyo dhibaato taala. Are these doctors to blame really? Do they not want to improve their own lives? Do they not want to be rewarded for their hard work in school? Do they really have a responsibility to stay? Africa has a multitude of problems. From unstable governments to low (or nonexistent) incomes and AIDS. Doctors can make a difference but in the great scheme of things, it's negligble. Who needs a doctor when you can't feed your kids? Even worse, what can a doctor do when he or she has no medicine, facilities or equipment to help the people with? I'm sure some of these doctors are leaving out of pure frustration and disillusionment rather than greed and a desire to live in the west. Still, it is a terrible state for Africa to be in.

Clanism and Tribalism in the notion of Somaliland and Puntland!
Castro replied to Alle-ubaahne's topic in Politics
^ Atheer, it is Somaliland's problem if one or more regions within it (or it claims) are not interested in staying in that union. Whoever said secession would be a cakewalk? -
Clanism and Tribalism in the notion of Somaliland and Puntland!
Castro replied to Alle-ubaahne's topic in Politics
^ Atheer SOOMAL, I gave you my answer on the above in the other post. Furthermore, I'm not a Somalilander though the concept does not bother me and I support the people of that region in their bid for secession. -

Why bizarre good Xiin? Help should be coming to those who need it. If someone has difficulty raising their kids, after they've exhausted all their resources, why not help those. Those in dereliction of duty and have abondoned their posts should be scolded. Maaha?

^ Atheer my child is my child. When I die, you can help. As long as I live, you ain't got to worry about her. And few of those drug dealer kids are orphans. They all have Anab, Asha and Maryan as mothers but, unfortunately, no Faarax, Muuse and Cali to go with them.

^ Nice ramble atheer. As STOIC indicated, we're all on the same page here. Just a couple of points, the menial jobs we do take are not 'prefered' but rather imposed because of the economic climate. But to have second and third generation Somalis in those same menial jobs is unacceptable. Involvement in the community is a must. But to hold the community responsible for the failures of the parents is wrong. I've no excuse for my lack of involvement. I should put my money where my mouth is. Though I also wanna make sure the ones I brought into this world are A-OK first. There's no point fixing the neigbour's doors when my own are broken, is there atheer? Castro Tutoring School (sponsored by SOL, let LSK foot the bill ) coming soon inshallah.

^ I'm begining to like you. If only you'd be a little kinder to SOLers (specially those who respond to a topic you post). And if you feel the topic is a little too difficult for the average Faarax like me, do include a little blurp that explains it. It makes all the difference.
-
^ I get the point atheer. Thank you. You're off the hook.
-
^ Seems like you're dodging the request. Try us. Explain the point to us. See if we miss it then use any label you like after that. Fair, atheer? Originally posted by Hitlerette: I doubt you will grasp anything i have to say my dear - people here either have simple mind or they lacking the understanding of simple things - which ever way that might be - coherent thought isn't lacking - we should all be thankful of that And how coherent is the above atheer?

Originally posted by Hitlerette: aaaaah the simplicity of minds! Very well. Atheer, elucidate by enunciating, with that sophisticated mind of yours, the point every simple mind is missing here. That would be great.

^ Indeed you ramble old man. First paragraph: all the ills and solutions you offered, though legitimate, are family based. No community involvement necessary or waranted. Second paragraph: indeed the elite, rich and the educated of Somalia made it to the west. The cross-section of which you speak is in refugee camps in countries sharing a border with Somalia. Third paragraph: there's absolutely no excuse to spend decades here and have no decent language skills, no matter how old the person is. To claim the kids run the household because of parents' language difficulties is wrong. The parents (no matter what they speak) could, and should, keep their flock in check. Remember Allah's advice and warning about custodianship and how each one is responsible for those in their custody, atheer? I know you'll come back with less rambling next time.

War dadyahow naftiina iyo reerkina nin walba ha ka adkaado. Forget this community rubbish you're chasing.

Denial has its beginings in the large Ugandan lake Victoria. It reaches the Mediterranean to the north. A large river that runs through Egypt.

^ Of course it's the qabiils that are being alluded to here. That's not lost on anyone. The manner with which they're addressed is what caused the ruckus. Originally posted by Alle-ubaahne: If so, then my prayers are with you, to get distanced from that stinking dogma. Now, come clean from the other one, if you are man enough, and willing to join the party of Ahlu-Kheyr. Saaxib, I'm gonna die a liberal so get over it. May be you should join me instead.
-
^ Malaha muraayad waayn ayay SOL ubaahantahay? Saaxib, you can accuse of me of anything but that. I'm blessed to have no desire whatsoever to entertain clanism. I care not for it. I care even less for anyone who thinks it's real.

Atheer, go through this exercise yourself. Just because Juma laid an egg doesn't mean you're in the choir. You've also shown how warped and ill your views are.

Originally posted by Jumatatu: Castro I doubt whether you can differentiate the two. Please, keep the spotlight to yourself, atheer. You've shown all of us what you're made of and it ain't pretty. You've made every backward thinking tribalist in this section look like a choir boy. You managed to single handedly take a dump, right in the middle of the playground, and then took a stick to it. That is a rare sight indeed. I pity you, saaxib.

Originally posted by Jumatatu: I made that comment and I stand by it as it was without any regret nor with the slightest remorse. Hopefuly one day you will see it. And it is true others have been engaging in the same behavior you've engaged in but yours took the cake saaxib. That was a radical departure from the usual mud slinging. You chose to use xaar instead of the usual dhiiqo. That's it.

^ Whatever happened to striving for brothers who play ball and drinking inordinate amounts of booze? This is a great idea by the way. One more reason to let my kids go off to colleges far away from home. Before this, I had none.

^ I'm shocked the youth in the UK are doing as badly as their counterparts in the US and Canada. What is this new-found community awareness we're having?

It's very sad indeed. May Allah bless her with Jannah. The moral of her tragedy is not to engage a carjacker (or car thief) in any capacity. That's why you have insurance. If they want to take the car, let them. A car, no matter how expensive, can be replaced but a human life is priceless. May she rest in peace.
