  1. Just imagine how much is being spent on armament and how much of that could alleviate the hunger and starvation brought on by the drought. SubxaanaAllah. Ilaahow maxaad dadkayga naxariista uga qaaday? There will be no mercy on us until we have mercy on each other. That's what Allah tells us and from the looks of it, we can't even fulfill the one simple condition for receiving the Lord's mercy. May qanyare, qanwayne and all the other blood-thirsty maniacs we have killing our people be burned alive and may they eternally burn in hell as well.
  2. This spells disaster in the long term for the UK socially. I'm sure the rates are no better elsewhere in western nations but these numbers on children born out of wedlock are staggering. Many of those living single will end up alone all their lives and these outrageously expensive areas are really squeezing young people out of having a decent life. They're forced to either delay leaving home (if at all) or live in sub-standard housing. I suppose its time to migrate to greener pasture. Though a perfect land does not exist, there are still many countries and cities that suffer not from many of the ills mentioned by the study. I'm glad I'm neither single nor twenty something. It was a bloody weird time of my life.
  3. Saaxib if those Xawaalad companies who have the infrastructure and the presence in every country are not collecting any money, besides western NGOs (whom we should donate to anyway), how is one to send the money to those who need it? I'm sure everyone is already helping their own families back home. And I also wonder about these incessant reports from Western media about how dire the situation is. Some of these bloody NGOs sending the reports have no other raison d'etre than disasters so their motives are at best questionable. But even if 1 out of every $10 donated actually reaches those who need it, donating to western NGOs is our only choice. So cut down on Starbucks for a few weeks or don't buy that nice coat or those shoes. Donate that money and while you enjoy the good feeling that comes with it, you might just help a kid or two. It's the only way to go. I agree with you. SOL must at least have an information and donation resources link. I know Admin is busy with the new page but I'm sure he'll find the time to put the link soon. Like today.

Matrimony for pleasure alone, specially when another wife is divorced for no other reason than to reduce the count allowed by Islam, is far from sanctioned.

  6. Births out of wedlock 'pass 40%' The proportion of children born outside marriage in the UK has leaped from 12% in 1980 to 42% in 2004, according to the Office for National Statistics. In contrast, 15 other EU countries had an estimated average of 33%, the annual ONS' Social Trends report said. The average UK household size fell from 2.9 to 2.4 people from 1971 to 2005. This was due to more single-parent families, smaller families and an increase in households of just one person, the ONS said. ONS editor Hayley Butcher said: "Although most children are born to married couples, this substantial rise in births outside marriage is a reflection of the rising trend in cohabiting parents." From 1986 to 2004, the percentage of non-married people under 60 who co-habited rose from 11% to 24% among men, and from 13% to 25% for women. Living alone The number of households in the UK increased by 30% - from 18.6 to 24.2 million - between 1971 and 2005. The average household size fell from 2.9 to 2.4 people over the same period. Some seven million people lived alone in 2005 - representing 29% of all households, up from 18% in 1971 - the ONS said. The ONS said that in the 1980s and 1990s one-person households mainly comprised older women, who tended to live longer than men. But recent years had seen an increasing tendency for people to live alone at younger ages. The largest increases in the last 20 years had been among people aged 25 to 44, and men from 45 to 64. The ONS' Social Trends study also reported that young men were more likely to live with their parents than young women. Some 57% of men aged 20 to 24 lived with their parents in 2005 - up from 50% in 1991 - compared with just 38% of women - up from 32%. [ ] "Some young people may remain at home while in education or because of economic necessity, such as difficulties entering the housing market," the report said. The Social Trends study's other findings included: * In spring 2005, one in five full-time employees reported usually working more than 48 hours a week. * Passengers travelling to or from overseas countries through UK airports (excluding transit passengers) almost quadrupled between 1980 and 2004, from 43 to 167 million. * More than one billion journeys were made on the national rail network each year in 2003-4 and 2004-5 - the highest level since 1961. * Transactions using debit cards increased ten-fold from 1991 to 2004, while credit card transactions trebled. * The number of UK households that owned second homes abroad rose 45%, to almost 257,000, from 1999-2000 to 2003-4. 7. ^ Great article you say? I know you speak not of Goth's piece but one never knows. Though not a masterpiece, Goth's article hardly deserved the dismissal Mr. Ismail afforded him saaxib. Furthermore, it behooves you to refrain from using terms such as "intellectual dishonesty" without at least making an effort at providing some evidence. Finally, even if you have knowledge of Goth exercising the said dishonesty on previous occasions, shouldn't this latest piece be judged on its own merit? Come on saaxib, I know it's too late inaan bacaadka isla aadno but you're not giving me much to work with here.
  8. ^ War ileen balaayo. It's the peak of irony that someone who would refer to Muslims as "Moslems" would question the faith of others and refer to them as the "devil". Mr. Ismail's repeated and fallacious ad hominem attacks on Bashir Goth say more about him than his target. What Mr. Ismail is asking us, I suspect, is if we agree with what that kaafir Goth has penned. If such is the case then Mr. Ismail ought to know that even the kufaar speak the truth sometimes. I'm dissapointed at such an attack on the person of Goth and a shallow critique of his article. Of the many accusations he lays on Goth, none is more ridiculous than Goth's hatered of Arabs. The man lives and works in an Arab country if Mr. Ismail bothered to find out. One doesn't necessarily have to like the carrier of a message but one shouldn't, because of him, throw it away either. Ah well.

  10. ^ Age of consent is what should matter. If someone is allowed to drive, smoke, work or sign a legal contract (as in marriage) then it's all good. Just how many 13 year olds do you know of can do any of the things above?
  11. Originally posted by Callypso: How do you figure that? I don't know what his defense strategy was, but did he challenge the law itself as "unconstitutional"? How else is he gonna appeal if not attack the law? I mean he clearly confessed (on tape) and plead guilty. The only way to be set free is to attack the law itself. David Irving is a self-declared bigot. I'm not sure jail time will change that. Austrians, as Sincere and naden said, are using Irving to exorcise their guilt from WW2. If they had no association with the Holocaust, they wouldn't have this law.
  12. ^ Couldn't resist eh? What do women need to drive for anyway? Even where they can legally, they suck as drivers and put all of us at risk. I'd rather they stayed off the roads.
  13. ^ So Irving, as he predicted in the article, would (could) go free upon appeal?
  14. ^ Not anymore stupidh than these. Many of the international laws out there could be considered stupidh as well. That a law is stupidh, outdated, or unfair is a matter for debate. But that should not be a deterrent to creating laws deemed necessary. Here's my favorite stupidh law from the link above: In Oklahoma, "dogs must have a permit signed by the mayor in order to congregate in groups of three or more on private property." And another in that same state, "it is illegal to kiss anyone of not purely American nationality on the 4th July." I think you catch my drift good Callypso.
  15. ^ May be JB was referring to the muted calls of the Khayrs and Alle-ubaahnes of this site who didn't condemn this as unIslamic. I'm sure they've been vocal in other, similar, places.
  16. Could anyone find the exact wording of the statute or code under which Irving was charged and convicted? I'm all google-ed out and I can't read any bloody German. Call it a Zionist conspiracy if you wish but these laws don't come out of thin air. They're the product of years, if not decades, of hard work, education and persistence. I too would be furious if the plight of my people were denied by some racist pip-squeak. Chew on that, will you?
  17. ^ Awoowe these feelings of helplessness are a recipe for disillusionment. A terrible state to be in. To understand and recognize the status quo for what it really is brings me no solace.
  18. British historian David Irving has been found guilty in Vienna of denying the Holocaust of European Jewry and sentenced to three years in prison. He had pleaded guilty to the charge, based on a speech and interview he gave in Austria in 1989. "I made a mistake when I said there were no gas chambers at Auschwitz," he told the court in the Austrian capital. Irving appeared stunned by the sentence, and told reporters: "I'm very shocked and I'm going to appeal." An unidentified onlooker told him: "Stay strong!". Irving's lawyer said he considered the verdict "a little too stringent". "I would say it's a bit of a message trial," said Elmar Kresbach. But Karen Pollock, chief executive of the UK's Holocaust Educational Trust disagreed. "Holocaust denial is anti-Semitism dressed up as intellectual debate. It should be regarded as such and treated as such," Ms Pollock told the BBC News website. Fears that the court case would provoke right-wing demonstrations and counter-protests did not materialise, the BBC's Ben Brown at the court in Vienna said. I'm not an expert on the Holocaust David Irving Irving arrived in the court room handcuffed, wearing a blue suit, and carrying a copy of Hitler's War, one of many books he has written on the Nazis, and which challenges the extent of the Holocaust. Irving was arrested in Austria in November, on a warrant dating back to 1989, when he gave a speech and interview denying the existence of gas chambers at Auschwitz. He was stopped by police on a motorway in southern Austria, where he was visiting to give a lecture to a far-right student fraternity. He has been held in custody since then. 'I've changed' During the one-day trial, he was questioned by the prosecutor and chief judge, and answered questions in fluent German. He admitted that in 1989 he had denied that Nazi Germany had killed millions of Jews. He said this is what he believed, until he later saw the personal files of Adolf Eichmann, the chief organiser of the Holocaust. "I said that then based on my knowledge at the time, but by 1991 when I came across the Eichmann papers, I wasn't saying that anymore and I wouldn't say that now," Irving told the court. "The Nazis did murder millions of Jews." In the past, he had claimed that Adolf Hitler knew little, if anything, about the Holocaust, and that the gas chambers were a hoax. COUNTRIES WITH LAWS AGAINST HOLOCAUST DENIAL Austria Belgium Czech Republic France Germany Israel Lithuania Poland Romania Slovakia Switzerland In 2000, a British court threw out a libel action he had brought, and declared him "an active Holocaust denier... anti-Semitic and racist". On Monday, before the trial began, he told reporters: "I'm not a Holocaust denier. Obviously, I've changed my views. "History is a constantly growing tree - the more you know, the more documents become available, the more you learn, and I have learned a lot since 1989." Asked how many Jews were killed by Nazis, he replied: "I don't know the figures. I'm not an expert on the Holocaust." Of his guilty plea, he told reporters: "I have no choice." He said it was "ridiculous" that he was being tried for expressing an opinion. "Of course it's a question of freedom of speech... I think within 12 months this law will have vanished from the Austrian statute book," he said. Source
  19. ^ What a fraudulently pathetic way to go through life. And fully sanctioned by culture to boot. Anyone that says Islam approves of this is an imposture.
  20. Covering half the space is for resolution purposes. Often, the lowest resolution is used as the common denominator. Probably 800x600 or something god-awful like that. Admin is getting a boat-load of testers, ain't he? This thread is becoming a bug list of sorts.
  21. ^ Fix confirmed, push to production.
  22. It doesn't work on Firefox (Mac OS 10.3.9) at all. The page goes into some sort of an infinite loop. Works fine on Safari though. I like the new look.
