"I always wondered other than critism, what have they done to help liberate their fellow nomads from ignorance and hatred?" Excellent question!!! There's nothing wrong with challenging the negative aspects that's present in our culture but to denounce your roots and on top of that bash the culture in its entirety is quite sad. If we don't have hope for Somalia, who will? Bush?Anyway, its a personal choice to care for your people and ur culture. *Dashes to get more coffee to pull an all nighter for exams*

Cushtic Cutie..thanks for creating this joint...I especially need it this week. Exams are around the corner n' I need to let some steam off. Neway.... Opinionated you are soo right, I hate the word terrorist or islamists...seriously. For example when no1 knew who the sniper was, why couldn't America label the monster on the loose a terrorist? I remember watching one popular show n' they were interviewing lil kids in VA and one kid said " this sniper is like a terrorist" hmmmmm it is a terrorist. Any1 who terrorizes people is a terrorist. But u see folks that term is reserved for Muslims. Gotta run.....to be continued.

Somali movie...in a theater? Nooooo! lol. You think it'll still be playing during the winter breaks in t.o?

Opinionated n' Cushtic: Ya know n' when u tell 'em ur from Somalia.....they don't even know where that's located! Is geography even offered in schools over here(US)? Pet peeve of the week: I despise back stabbing people!!! Let me elaborate on that a lil bit more. I have a supervisor who smiles at you n' is pretty much a FAKE. Now when u do something that she doesn't like she'll still go about her bizness n' you'll have absolutely no idea that something is wrong. It doesn't end there. She goes to her head supervisor n' report any lil mistakes that I might've done. Now tell me what's wrong with this picture. I told her that she's needs to drop that fake *** attitude of hers n' be straightforward with me. What she's got is a communication problem. Another one is: Why why why me!!!! I have 2 exams of the hardest courses this semester in the same day. That's not all......its back 2 back.....not even a 5 minute break in between...in the same hall.....

Jaalut, firtly thanks for updating us about this issue stirring in the East. Tragedy besets upon our so-called Islamic scholars. Since the death of number of well-respected scholars, the Islamic world seems to go haywire. Floods of Fatwat taking the pavements of our minds. Any simple Muslim like I is left oblivion perplex ion and wonder as what brings such highly controversial and to some extend heresy to spring up such a volume of Fatwas of which the latest is in question?. The answer lies in the midst of the Muslims. The lack of rudimentary erudition makes us all prey to these outrageously debauched Fatwas. ****Farah couldn't have said it any better.

Just Sick! We're witnessing a change in Television and in the name of entertainment they are constantly exploring ways of pushing the limit. That's reality TV for you. This is off topic, but it's SNOWING you guys. Time to get my snow suit out n' make 'em snow angels...yeeey. -

I once had this book by the Canadian author that she composed called A Tree for Poverty: Somali Poetry & Prose A Tree for Poverty: Somali Poetry & Prose . I'm telling you it was a delight to read somali stories she gathered from across the nation. But since I've moved few years ago the book is somewhere lost in the apartment! She had an insight and a deep appreciation for Somalis n' their culture. Baashi n' Barwaaqo: Insha Allah let's keep on praying that we get to atleast retire in the Motherland. Keep the hope alive!!

Good job fellas. I guess I have no choice but to visit Mn next summer. I have more reasons to stay outdoors than goin' from guri to guri visiting endless relatives! I just love the outdoors, can't remember the last time I went hiking n' canoeing. Here I come for shopping.....

That would make Indians/Pakis sinners wouldn't it? I think its more of a taboo in our culture than anything, but as far as I know its not.

What a vigorous poem! I've been meaning to get a hold of this poem that caused such controvercy in the States. I think they want to revoke his title as poet laureate all because of this poem. What ever happened to freedom of speech in America?

Just last night this Somali lady was complaining of her son's ill-manners and was contemplating of shipping him to Somalia n' rip his passport. In most cases as most of you mentioned Somali parents act on this in substitution of parenting. If you couldn't raise your child how can you expect another to? I just don't get it. Its sad to know that some Somali parents just lose hope on their own kids. Another concern is that when these kids are dumped in the motherland, they usually end up hanging out with their trouble maker peers. They also get their hands on weapons, drugs, etc. How is this suppose to reform them? On a positive note, I don't mind seeing some of my siblings goin a for a lil visit to Somalia but UNDER SUPERVISION. It'll strengthen the mother tongue which is the most important aspect of any culture.

Humble brotha welcome. Just a minor correction, its Ramadan not Rabadan. However, that's a good point you made. What's up with the Eid Bash followed by the NewYear's party. Funny eh?

Magnificent. Wa ku mahadsantahay for the contribution, it was a feast for the eyez.

Good Q. What's haraam n' Halaal in Islam are clearly stated. Voting on the hand, am not sure. You're going to have check with what the culumaa' have to say about this. Plus, does it make a difference whether u vote in America or any other Western country?
