  1. Lord, ok here goes mine. I say its either 1) Killed her sister so she can get the guy to visit again or 2) She was a murderer all along, she killed her mom, then saw this beautiful hunk at funeral, and since she killed b4, she figured it wouldn't hurt to kill again. LOL. I know its lame but hey I tried.
  2. Ameenah, we need participation not to be munching on the free refreshments. LOL. Muraad we're waiting on you. Muj, Give me few weeks till this semester is over b4 I contribute Shukran.
  3. Maybe, just maybe this war is meant for the middle east to wake up and smell the roses. If Iraq can be easily invaded , then Syeria or Libia or any other Arab country could be next in their hit list. I say what don't break you , will make you stronger. Is it possible to see the end of nationalism in muslim countries? Is it possible to see the end of oppression in many parts of the middle east? Allah knows.
  4. Moral of the story: Sisters know your rights in Islam inside out. We all know Islam liberated women more than 1400 years ago. Jewel your interpretation of feminism makes sense to me because there's nothing wrong with fighting for your right for equal pay, opportunities, etc. However, to my knowlege there are other view points of feminism that many may embrace. Do u think women in the west dont face a glass ceilng when it comes to epmloyment? Dont they have to dress a certain way? Just think about it. Feminism hasnt acheived much for women and they still have to dress and behaviour to a very narrow minded male fantasy in this and many other western society. Exactly my point. To me it seems that women from the West are trying to prove that they're equal to men in alot of ways. Yet, I think feminism did achieve alot for women here. If a women wants to work she can get a decent job without depending on her spouse. It's sad to know Muslim countries don't recognize/elevate their women. In my opinion, women have alot more freedom in the west than most Muslim countries. Sad Q: would you label a women who knows her right as a muslim a feminist?? I know some do!!!

  6. Najmo, 1st n' foremost, WLC!!! The easiest way, of course, is the name, for example "Ogunkoye", "Ekwekwe" or "Babangida" can only be a Nigerian; a"Njoroge", "Otieno" or "Kilonzo" must be from Kenya. TRUE!!! that's how I distinguish Africans from one another. Hehehehe. Loving your sense of humour. But when it comes down to it, we have alot more in common with this continent than any other. I wonder what Somalian respond first when asked where they're from?
  7. LOOOOOOOOOOOL LayzieGirl, I busted out laughing so loud in a library, might get kicked out b'coz of you! That was hilarious, bisinka!
  8. Goodness, y'all are starting 2 to force me to write down ur member # quickly since pple are getting bored with their original names. Wlc back Lakkad ( No offence, I ain't feeling mosses lol). 9. LOL.....oooh I'm with Shyhem on this, LOL. But hey, we need another nomad wedding up in here!!! MMA ur too old brotha, its time to settle down don't you think.
  10. My bad for not reading the rules more carefully... GRAVE>>>>>DANGER
  11. I don't think Saddam will leave that easily, he's got few tricks under his sleeves.
  12. WELCOME. You won't regret your stay here. 1luv.
  13. Damn everytime I want to express my opinion, some1 else already had!! Oh well. Not to sound redundant but I agree with what the majority said here. I think the best thing for any1 to do is to discuss the changes that will occur once married. In other words, create new boundaries since change is part of the equation. It might help combat any animosity that can come out of in the event the two friends part. Friends come n' go, but family's there to stay!!! Life's a journey, there's no guarantee your friends will stick around till the end. Scorpion, wlc back grl haven't seen you around in awhile.
  14. Modesty, excellent advice walaal. You shouldn't wear hijab b'coz of men, society, or for your parents but for the simple fact it's an order from Allah. Sister don't concern yourself whether a guy checks out a sista without a hijab more often than a non-hijabi because that's irrelevant to you as a muslim. Like the sister said, most guys(muslims) are either intimidated or respect that sister too much to harrass. So if you're a sister who's seriously giving the thought of wearing a hijab, please remember to do it for the pleasure of your Lord. Who cares what anybody else thinks because you have a greater purpose in life than to be bothered by trivial issues. We all know we live in a world today where sex-appeal plays a huge role in young people's lives.Wearing a hijab along with the right intentions, the drive to please others will diminish. Hope that helped.
  15. There's definitely talent in the house!!! I can't wait to hear some more guys.....keep 'em rolling.
  16. My financial situation. I'm a poor student and I dont' know how long I can bear this, lol. Imagine if my student loans was erased from records......am dreaming outloud again.
  17. Harry Potter? Oh come on, my lil siste(12 yr. old) is crzy about them. I think she finished the 3rd book by now. Secondly, I didnt' enjoy the movie one bit. What about Lord of the Rings, though I'd think it'll be a bit challenging since Its way too detailed than the movie.

  19. I'm not sure of what came out of that US soldier that attacked his own militery camp, but the way CNN reported the incident pissed me off. The first thing they've said was that " he had an Arabic-sounding surname". I think I'll start watching BBC for a change.
  20. Mujahid, Jazakallah. I thought it was nicely put and I liked your compassionate tone. One thing thou, I don't think it matters to a rapist whether you're fully covered or not. If he's going to do the act, the most convenient woman will do. Are you hold the same segment, only this time for the brothers?
  21. HEY, iska daa ya Big Icon, it's his debut in the poetry joint. This isn't Appolo. Instint poet, superb job at for helping the brotha out. Deadly vision, powerful stuff. I really enjoyed reading it.
  22. No need to repeat, nindoon said it best for me. Paki, LOL, every1's got their preference I aint tryna hate on you. Laakin check it, Paki? Let's think here for a moment. Almost all the Indian/Paki guys I've ever known, waxay ka dambeeyaan dhaqankooda. In other words, they listen to their mothers and there's no way they'll ever disobey their culture. So babygirl, the chances of you(African sista)standing a chance with an East Indian is almost slim to nothing. Good Luck finding that special one!!!!
  23. Excellent advice walaal. You know what, I was wondering about the same thing when Afganistan was being bombed how every1 stayed quite. N' now with Iraq, I've noticed that non-muslims are outnumbering the muslims in demostrations n' such yet again. Even on our campus, some of the pple organizing events n' workshops are from atheist orgs. What are we so afraid of? Enuff said. What am I going to do to help them? A number of things Insha Allah. I'm going to make sure I let my voice be heard by participating in the numerous outgoing rallies around here, maybe hit Chicago soon. But most importantly, I believe this situation encouraged me to reflect more on my deen. Obviously, there's always improvements to be made. N' ofcourse I'll always continue my prayers for my people/Ummah.
  24. You're welcome brotha Shujui. This excerpt made so much sense to me in light of the present situation with Iraq. Sometimes it can get overwhelming for a muslim (ie. moi) to see his/her Ummah suffer a great deal in every corner of the world. If we get all caught up with the moment and let those feelings of animosity run wild, we can easily lose sight of the real purpose we're here for. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the All-powerful n' justice will be served by Him here or in the hearafter. With that in mind, you become more content as a muslim b'coz you have hope from Allah.
