Salaan... Some TTC beefs, aha? Hokey, here you have one: One early evening in 2001 we--me and two of my friends--got on this bus, #58 {Lawrence West}. We were standing, having a conversation, suddenly when this old Jamaican lady, who was sitting under where we were standing, freaked out, shouting repeatedly, "All you Soomaali no-good, good-at-nothing people." For a second, I thought this must be a Candid Camera gone bad. And she then particularly looked at me, as though I was a creature from another planet and said, "You stink! You Soomaali people stink. And yes, you stink!" We immediately started laughing--dhaq dhaq dhaq...kikikiki. She got more angrier and kept bad-mouthing Soomaali people until she no longer couldn't tolerate our laughing and left from the bus. We later realized she was a real crazy person and had a beef with Soomaali people particularly. _________________ Macsalaama.

Salaan... I guess someone cannot distinguish between Chicago and Toronto. "They say Chicago is friendly city. Well, my last experience taking public transit was almost a little too friendly. In fact, if it happened in Afghanistan, I’m pretty sure I’d be in jail. Those Taliban guys are pretty strict about personal space and such things. It does explain why none of my female friends take the train, though. It was Saturday afternoon and I had errands to run on the North Side, and while I did know there was a Cubs game that afternoon, for some reason, I’d thought it was a 1:30 start. I was wrong. ****** me, I got on a Northbound train 45minutes before the first pitch..." Want to read the whole story, click here _________________ Credit where it is due, baliis. Salaan... Honestly, this leader had been humiliated and has every grievance to even walk-out from the Conference. Xataa maloo ogalaan labadii qof shirka ugu qeyb gali lahaa ka aheen C/llaha Deeroow iyo Xasan Abshir, whom don't share his opinions any longer. Labaduu shirka usoo dirsaday waa laga bixiye, kaararkoodana waxaa loogu daray Deeroow/Abshir group-kooda, which was absolutely not fair. I personally concur his departure from those lame discussion talks. All of those so-called faction leaders meeting there, C/qaasin really seems the lone honest Soomaali nationalist leader. ________________ Macsalaama.

Salaan... Xafsa, haa walaashiis Tarbuunka agtiisa Suuqa Jaadka weyn Xamar aa laga furay, oo meeshaas uuba kusoo dagaa. Teeda kale SoS Huriwaa maka mid ahenoo? I had seen SoS several times, inside it is in tight but outside maka kasi kartid. By the way, my sister used to live in Hurwaa waagii nabadda, close to Suuqa Hurwaa. Muraad, xirtii timaha aafarada iyagoo meesha taag taagnaa oo cadeey afka ugu surnaa aa igu danbeysay waagii nabadda, hada iyaga maaba joogi karo, koleey hilfaha loo labaa filaa. LoL. Xariifiinta kale, Xamar waa aragteen in la dhiso ay u baahan tahay marka ee kii fuundi ahoow is diyaari, kii faryaamo ahoow ku xigso, kii xamaali ahna awalba waa joogtay ee sii wado shaqadaa. I bought one too, if that is the case. Do you know Isgoyska Sanca? Guess who sits there now? That famous guy who came up with the idea of la is cabiraayo. Ever heard that idea? Waa lagu cabiraa and you pay how much you weight. Markaas aa best area i leedahay. Ka kac. Jaaw jaaw.

Salaan... A Soomaali without Islam is like a person wearing a trouser without underwear. A Soomaali who doesn't speak or write Soomaali--whatever the excuse--and proudly says so in-your-face is like a ghost among people. A Soomaali without his dhaqan is like...well, without any clothes. Thus, if you are Soomaali plus Muslim plus with dhaqan: 100% Soomaali. Soomaali plus Muslim but without dhaqan {including not speaking the language}: 80% Soomaali. Soomaali minus Muslim and minus dhaqan: 20% Soomaali. I can hardly imagine associating with--even though I had seen--a Soomaali without his Islamic faith. I cannot even for now give a second thought a Soomaali without af Soomaali. __________________ Macsalaama.

Salaan... Che-Guevara: Noo, I didn't go the area where Hotel Guuleed is located at. I believe it is in Huriwaa area, which is not a good area now. Xafka, LoL. The Axmed Gureey Statue ani even markaa Xamar joogay aala fujistay in '92, but what is so worse is that now in that place, some cows are sitting right in the middle of the Isgoyskaas KM-4. Bermuudana isbaaro mataalo, lakiin xaafada wali ma fiicno. My xaafad really si xunee u galeen, inkaar qabiyaasha. Muraad, duqa, Bashiir Lugeey aa? LooooooL. Ar banooni maxaa ku ciyaarey meeshaas. You know barxadiis. It is so large and had good bacaad. I really wished inaa soo arki lahaa Barxadii Bashiir Lugeey. Horta manool yahay asaga? Lakiin Kaasa Balbalaare shaneemada ma ugu dhaafin dhanka kale, meeshee ku taalay camal Footo Kaah iyo meelahaas kale ma tagin. Shaneemada xataa baabuur aa saarnaa markaa masawiraayi, marka xataa gees gees waaye masawirka. You know Kaasa Balbalaare beysaani aa daganaa iyo gaalo. Especially the road that comes from straight from Taleex oona ku dhacaayo darbiga shaneemada, meeshaas aa Jimco walbo mari jirnay, anagoo banooni aadnay ama soo fiirsanay. Our elder brothers used to play banooni at Warshada Kookada barxadii kasoo horjeeday. So marka gaaladaan guryahooda aa dhagax iyo tuuryo ku rafaadin jirnay markaa soo noqono. Its opening had this bistoolad, and always used to start a person being killed and this old Jarmal dude would investigate. Don't remember its name. Some further more... This is Shaneemo Kaasa Balbalaare, fittingly popularly also known as Shaneemo Shuun. It is across from Isteeshinka Hodan. Tarbuunka. The only building Siyaad Barre built that had not succumbed to the civil war. This is Taleex. It is where my Abti's house is located and the safest and best xaafad in Xamar now. It was also where I was staying. If you look carefully above the left house, you will see the MINARET of Masaajidka C/rashiid. Don't you also love the bacaad on the field??? Reminds me the true caro maanyo. This is Haantii Carwada. Note with its famous long encompassing wall that is well known of Carwada. It is, yeah, Carwadii sanadkii mar la furi jiray oona ku taalay Taleex. That carwo is carved now. One part is masaajid. One other part being a garaash baabuur {pictured below}, and other parts are occupied by refugees. The garaash that is part of Carwada now. Where I used to play Kadhimeey Kadhim at my xaafad. How scary and cidlo it is now. ____________________ I hope you enjoyed. Dalkeena Ilaahey ha inoogu dhigo nabad: Aamiin. Iyo wadankii bar baaro: Aamiin.

Continued... This is Jidka Sodonka. A building next to Carwada Iidkoow. Note how Jidka Sodonka looks like. Baabuurta meeshee rabaan ay marayaan. Ninba naftaa, nabiyoow ummadaa aaka socotaa jidadka Xamar. Isbartiibada. Its main gate. It is now occupied by some refugees. Isbartiibada from another angle. On that day, it was raining, beautiful. I mean kuleelkii aa first time ka neefsaday ay ahayd. And this was my xaafad, where I literally grew up. It is just in front of our house. This is also called Bermuuda now, the most dangerous section in Xamar. It is a ghost town; it is completely obliterated, badly destroyed; hardly a house stands. The only house that still stands is ours, and it is because of my father who never left from it. That jid goes to Dabka, it comes from Isgoyska Bakaaraha. This house is exactly across from our house. It used to be, O Lord, a luxury house. How I wish if the owner had been able to see it, I am sure she would have fainted. This is Bermuuda also. The opposite site. This way now goes to Isgoyska Bakaaraha from Dabka. Note how scary the houses look. You would have never thought any soul ever lived there. As a boy maqaayadii aa sanbuuska ka cuni jiray, located just next to our house. What a qashin iyo sida loo fiiq fiiqday. Also the next house to Maqaayada was owned by Reer Uunlaaye, the very second richest family in Soomaaliya at that time. Our xaafad at the back. Where I used to play some banooni maalin walba. Some more...

Salaan... Note: I edited, if you are able to see them now, good, if not then...} ___________________ Some of you guys, nomads, had asked me if I have any pictures from Xamar. I do. However, since it is easier to show you all in here rather than individually, well here you have them now. They are not many, but heey, I did my part and tried to be a bit geesi, hokey. And if you are looking the pictures of Curuba, Jubba, Badda Liido, Jasiira, etc well then I love my life and I wasn't going to risk to go places like them at all. Anyway, here they are: Just after I arrived in Xamar {the airport was located outside of it, a town called Cisaleey} and just outside that make-shift airport, I saw those great geeliyaal. Besides of reminding me of my childhood memories of geeloow gumbalalax song, I immediately also remembered you SOL-nomadic guys. I then said myself, "Heck how dare can I miss not to take this opportunity by shooting some shots." I told the driver of the car and his armed-staff to stop. I then took several pictures of those geel. I would have loved to take more, but the driver with his armed-staff were getting a bit annoyed, thinking to themselves, "Xoolahaan xayawaanka masawiranaayo muxuu ahaa?". Note the PERFECT CLOUDLESS BEAUTIFUL Soomaali blue sky. Also our ocean is just couple yards away and ooh, how I wished to go there. Well, there you go and have another look of geel. Since I irritated some armed-gangs to take those shots marka idinka maa idiin daahaa. And a final one. This is Carwada Iidkoow. It was the largest mall in Xamar back when nabad was nabad. It had everything. Today this is how it looks like. On the next page....

The New Saviour: Federalism- Or is it?

After the first 5 years, if someone from the South is elected as the president, the priminister should always be from Somaliland. ^^^^^^^ I think Paltalk's radical and militant approach to Soomaaliland in his thread makes even more sense than what you listed above. Salaan... Do you guys really watch all of these shows on tv? Almost of those shows, I never watched any of them. And booy, am I glad that I didn't. I am glad I don't have cable, and I hardly watch tv, well besides Peter Mansbridge on National on CBC. P.S.: Today I read from the paper that there is a new gay-themed "reality" show coming up. It is titled Boy Meets Boy, and it will be on Bravo! channel. One more reason not to have a cable. _______________ Macsalaama.
