Salaan... Waa naloo qabeeyi mar labaad. 2:0 aa nala siiye. Not bad. Next year it will be down to 1:0. I call that progress. Laakiin xiito-xiitiyaashaan oo baasto iyo malawax ku koray maa Gaanees canbuulo, digir iyo soor "ugali" la dhaho ku casheeyo, ku qadeeyo iyo ku quraacdo mee iska celin karaan? Plus kuwa ka ciyaaro xulalka caalamiga ee Talyaaniga iyo kuwa kale ee Yurub. Maya, maya. Xiito-xiitiyaasha waa dadaaleen, almost all of them positioning themselves around their goal-net--quite the first official team to have 11 goalkeepers. These are some of our national qaliir, xiito-xiito team, most belong one team called Elman: Soomaali hadaan nahnay dacaayad bilaa caleesh lee nagula yaqanaa ee hala amaano kartidee muujiyeen, Ilaaheyna ha u garabgalo dadaalkooda. _______________ Soon Wanaagsan.

Salaan... Originally posted by Ameenah: Somali Youth League were great men, fighting and gaining the independence of Somalia. So were members of the NUF (which coincidently no one seems to remember) who rigorously campaigned for the independence of British Somaliland and who later joined (quite willing if I may add) to the United Somalia. Aamina, walaashiis saa mooday ma'aha xaalada. While NUF {I don't know if this being the correct name} campaigned the freedom of British Soomaaliland, SYL was not limited to one region. While there were a lot of parties that represented clan-based regions in the south, SYL was not. True to their word, SYL was the only party that dreamed the creation of Soomaali Weyn; and it thus became effective, and had secret offices almost in all Soomaali lands, including British Soomaaliland, Soomaali Galbeed, Italian Soomaaliland; it even reached French Soomaaliland. It was this reason SYL got popular with Soomaalis, regardless of clan division. By the way, SYL got on its feet while the British were almost occupying the entire Soomaali lands, only Jabuuti was the exception at that time, because the Italians were defeated in W-W-II, including to lose the power-base of southern part and Soomaali Galbeed which they controlled to British army. Unlike their Italian counterpart, British tolerated and gave a limited power to locals; this had given rise to the creation of SYL. SYL might have been created while Talyaani was still in control, but it wasn't that visible and fletched. The independence of Somaliland was something that was decided later by the people of Sland and not the SNM for several reasons... one of the being the instability of the rest of Somalia at the time that it was formed. The volatility of Soomaaliya was not the main motive behind the secession of Somaliland in 1991. Soomaaliland was created, not on the instability of the rest of Soomaaliya, but as a result of their pure dissatisfaction with the very first conference held in Jabuuti back in early 1991. That quick-fix scheme conference was what brought overall explosive nature Soomaaliya state is found right now; first because it was a quick-way out, quick-solution conference, ignoring the facts of conflict. It was wrongly miscalculated, most delegates being members of Manifesto* group, electing one among them as president, Cali Mahdi Maxamed. And indeed, certain clans were shunned, among them Siyaad Barre’s clan. In that conference, Soomaaliland {led by ambitious, power-hungry individuals} wanted a greater share of power, including two equal powerful federal state regions, mainly consisting Soomaaliya and Soomaaliland, which was wholly rejected by the delegates. One reason being if Soomaaliya opted to have federal system, each region should get equal representatives, which the delegates of Soomaaliland did not like. _______________ * Manifesto consisted powerful individuals displeased with the culminative actions taken by Siyaad Barre's regime and signed a declaration with each person's name on; it was in late '89 and early '90. In the communiqué was that Maxamed Siyaad Barre must resign immediately and safe the Soomaali nation on the brink of civil explosion. Aw Siyaad's response?? To arrest all of them who confirmed their signatures immediately. But some feared and didn't aknowledge their signatures, among in this group was the late Raajis Maxamed Raajis and Cali Mahdi Maxamed, whom were both have been accorded to have said when the feared NSS came to them, "Aah, we never signed this proclamation. Where did you get it from?" Untrue to their hearts. ________________ Soon Wanaagsan.

Salaan... While we are butchering, kidnapping and torturing one another back home, a worthy man is pedalling his bike around Africa to make more awareness the wretched and abysmal condition Soomaalis are in. This worthy man's name is Biiboow {Pippo}. He is half-Italian, half-Soomaali. Born in Kismaayo to a Soomaali mother and a Talyaani father. Calling his commendable tour Somalia Solidarity, him and his bike would travel around Africa solo, risking the unavoidable perils of vast continent of Africa. His journey will take place in Talyaaniga itself and Africa; started already in June of this year, according to his website Ilaahoow u gargaar, aamiin. __________________ Soon Wanaagsan.

Salaan... Originally posted by Shujui-1: i would be very grateful if u could find the time to transalte teh article MMA. Kaaba, let me see if I can try. Be warned though, I am not good at it. I hope others would give you the full version. _______________ The negative aspects of qabiil {qabyaalad} can be influenced and be influenced by the following listed people: 1. A person who had been raised in hatred and negative aspects of qabiil. 2. An ignorant person who is insecure or lack confident about himself, like: People whose brains don't function much regarding about qabiil issues {fairly} and don't feel much confident about their own opinions. People who assume their own opinions are the least worth while compared to others. People who believe easily everything that had been told by a person who hails from their own tribe {unquestioned}. People who can be persuaded with useless, futile stories about qabiil. People who can't research the truth behind the stories they hear. A coward person who is afraid his formed opinion, which is different from his family's, might be ridiculed and mocked by his family. A person who believes he cannot live without qabiil identity. A person who believes he cannot get a secure job without qabiil {read corruption}. A person who occasionally is afraid if he does the right thing might be confronted by a lot of people {his qabiil's people, that is}. A person who lacks nationalism and whose top priority, boastfully, is his qabiil rather than his nation {in this age, which majority Soomaalis are}. 3. A criminal person who already committed felonies: An already soaked person doesn't care/mind about water {proverb}. Criminal wishes and likes to make everybody commit crimes. A criminal doesn't like if he is the only person hunted {likes company}. 4. A person whose knowledge of Islam and morality of humanity are minus scale. That person does: Makes sure qabiil comes first then his God {unbelievable, but true; to believe this, go to any Soomaali city now, and proclaim "Yaa Muslimiin!" Reaction? Nothing. In the same manner, say aloud, "Yaa Hebel ahoow...!" You will see a rush of that hebel's people asking you what do you need, etc}. Who wrongly interprets the Quraanka kariimka and the Prophet's hadiths {who falsely believe his life and incomes directly relate to his tribe. Recounts and recalls fabricated stories and proverbs {about the glorious of his qabiil}. 5. A crook person who eats and takes anything including haram, like: Shrewd politicians who always love to hold power Warlords Those who cheer and does what they do the two above-listed groups. 6. A person who does't have enough knowledge and expertise that can land him jobs. 7. People who work for foreigners/outsiders and who can't get enough popularity otherwise, like: To those who used to work for the colonialists and still work for them {the new ones}. To those who spy for the countries that traditionally dislike Soomaali/Soomaaliya. Used by those who hate the Islamic religion. 8. A person who habitually loves the wrongs of others and feels comfortable with, such as: Some of those people are mentally sick. Some of them enjoy others wrongs, such as rooting people's properties, raping women, etc {of course when against the enemies of their qabiil}. Some of them are used by devils and are the kinds Allah warned us in the Quraan. __________________ Soon Wanaagsan. -
Salaan... Some deny they are 'qabiiliste,' while in fact all points indicate otherwise. Others hide behind the garment of regions. Salaan... Sophist, macaleesh. I wrote my brother, not 'maadar.' Ilbuun ma noqotay mise ilweershe, maraxaa taacun. Haa nooh, waa is yareynaa, ma maseeree adiga? Wah, aniga markii tuuji ku fadhiye adiga gaalaa baadiye busteeda ku raaci jirtay. Ereyga "gaal" yaa ku baraayo hee, hal gaal lee taqanaa micnihiis. Baashi weydii hakuu fasiree micnaha kale ee "gaal" laga wado. Soon aboosto waaye, markii Xamdi Rest. ka cunaayana iskaabulo maa imooday. (waxaa laga yaabaa inaaney gaal jaceel aanay ka aheyn ee dariiqo ahaan uu udiidayay Sayidka-- Sayidku Ahlu Suna Wal Jamaaca ayuu ahaa ninkaa nina Qaadiriya Suufiya ayuu ahaa) Sophist, saaxiib, all suufis are or identify themselves Sunni, which in turn belong ahlul sunna wa jameeca. And back in the days, Soomaalis identified themselves with three powerful competing Suufi orders, namely Qaadiriya {which Sheekh Aweys belonged}, Saalixiya {which the Sayidka belonged}, and Axmediya, the least powerful. Qaadiriya and Saalixiya were on their throats when the Talyaaniga, Ingiriiska and Faransiiska came to colonize. Entre., macalinka aniga markee imaato sheekhyaasha wax ku saabsan eber aa ka ahay, especially those national figures, including Sheekh Xasan Barsame. Wax aan ka maqlay maleh sheekhaas ka aheen iskool in loogu magac daray. Can you believe this until recently I didn't know personally who Sakhaawadiin and Cismaan Geedi Raage were besides, again, having only school names? In these days, I am trying to get as much information about these figures as I can. Each is named after a school in Muqdisho, and I hardly can say anything they had done, even though I know they were national figures. We might be ashamed to admit that how we vaguely know anything about these national figures: Macallin Jaamac {he had a beautiful statue of his own too}, Max'uud Mire, Muuse Galaal and Generaal Daa'uud. Jameecooyinka especially Sheikh Abdullahi Baardheere @ jiirada taleex and Timaweynta @ shineema Shuun were strange to say the least; drums, qaat, etc. LoL, Baashi. Xirtaas qaaf ee ahayeen. Horta waala dhameeyi style-ka Afro, habeenkii dhana waala qayilaa. Baashi, widaay dooga si feyla ma i gorada, laakiin Shaatimadoowe iyo Sheekh Gaduud aan kusoo wareesanaa hadee yaqanaan wixii Beydhabo lagu dhigi jiray. ________________ By the way, those who used to go to Biyooleey {where Sheekh Aweys is buried} believed if a person goes there seven consecutive years was an equivalent if that person went to Xaj. To those Soomaali suufis, going there seven times was equivalent going to Xaj. Some still do. ________________ Soon Wanaagsan.

Salaan... I think silent-sister is playing a joke on you, guys. Most folks in UK have satellite dishes, most probably SkyTv being one. And most of their VCR-like dishes on the top of their TVs require bank-like cards that you put or "feed." Otherwise, it won't work unless you put it. I think it is a clever innovation to protect the children from viewing unattended dirty programs on tv anytime of the day. You take it out, and eureka! the children will beg you all day long to put that "card" back into device. UK is waaaaaay advanced than what I had seen most markets in North America when it comes to digital, satellite networks and cables. Some even play with their remotes--while bored at home and tired watching some dull shows like Neighbours--a billiard-like game on TV, with some strangers they don't know. _______________ Soon Wanaagsan.

Salaan... Baashi, yeah, I also heard that Al Kowneyn invented and devised that alifla kor dhaweey script, so the patent belongs to him. However, do you really mean the sheekh invented that unique characters only in 1940s? How did the Soomaalis cope to study Quraan in dugsi before that? I mean alifla kor dhaweey and alif wax maaleh did really simplify learning to write Quraan in Soomaaliya. Anyway, what about other sheekhs that existed. Notably sheekhs like Sheekh Aweys and Sheekh Madar. Or even Sheekh Cabdi Sheelaweyne {was he even a sheekh?}. Anyone who have read or heard about their stories, please share with us. ________________ Macsalaama.

Salaan... Ooh, Buntiland, Soomaaliland, Jinniland...give me a break. Someone once uttered, "Heedhe, ciyaalkaan yaac yaacaya yaa inaga qabta oo salallaahul calaa nabi yaqaano." See, this is the result of inevitable rivalry. This is what happens when every "cid" tries to aspire being a nation, on the expense of blaming their brothers whatever negative happens inside their turf. Let's all try to build and live in one spacious, sharing room and forget about the now-popular suffix "lands." _______________ Macsalaama. -
Salaan... Originally posted by Entrepreneur: I have noticed that most of my somali brethen after listning and enjoying banadiri music would alter the words "MURTI MALAHA". How did I miss this beforehand? What songs have more "murti" than when you listen such heavy hitters of soothing, smooth, comforting words and songs by such legends: Sulfa, Faadumo Qaasin, Shimaali, Axmed Naaji, Caasho Cabdoow, Luul Jeylaani, among others? Just try to imagine listening this very moment the flowing, melodic, tuneful words of, "Aawey hee, aarigiis ma iloobinee...waxaana u ooya, ooya caawada... Try to imagine listening that and I am sure your tendered heart is already cracked and got a lot more gentle. The reason those folks who keep saying the Banaadiri songs are not "murti" enough is because they don't understand, while in fact those songs are the simplest Soomaali genre songs. And those very folks with their "murti" judgement keep picking such figures of Xasan Aadan Samatar, a very overstated singer. I only wish if he could have stuck his Maaymaay songs, which he mastered and was very comfortable at rather than switching. See, when he sings in Weeraroow dooyoow waniini... and Beledweyn are not the same. And it is obvious which one he is comfortable at. C/qaadir Jubba Xasan Aadan Samatar Khadra Daahir The Mooge Brothers Sahro Axmed In my opinion, these singers are all hype, and nothing else. If not utterly overemphasized. Perhaps the reason is that I never was fond the "qaaci" genre to begin with. _________________ Macsalaama.

How do u deal with Headaches when Fasting in Ramadan?
Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar replied to Khayr's topic in General

Originally posted by Rahima: Headaches could be relieved by vomiting, eating (which you can't), being calm and idle, using cold rags, cooling the body, elevating the temperature, avoiding noise... These are basic commonsense remedies that alleviate headaches. I know, I do. Salaan... Originally posted by Samurai Warrior: MMA- Bruv, could you be kind enough as to elaborate on this (That fikrad was rejected by no other than those who advocate it now) please? Kaabe, I thought you knew it, mise waala isku dhibooyaa inaa busta soo jafo. In March 1958, a party called HDMS {Xisbiya Dastuur Mustaqiil al Soomaal, representing primarily the inhabitants of Baay and Bakool regions} proposed a federal government to the less powerful and limited adminstration led by C/llaahi Ciise, believing when Soomaaliya gains its full independence to have a federal government. That proposal was disregarded and shunned before it was even given a proper consideration. It was never studied. It was rejected purely by the powerful SYL party, who adamantly were against the very hint of federalization of Soomaali state. However, we know who predominated the SYL party at the time of independence. Why I am reminding to you about this, is that I am for SYL's rightful rejection of that idea, and I still am against it. But I don't know why those who dominated SYL had changed their minds and want a federal state now. There are some fishy, unexplained reasons than because "we've tried every other system but federal." Give me a break. Did we try to install an Islamic government? Did we try to have a monarchy state? That excuse of we didn't try 'federal state yet' has no basis either than we didn't try a monarch kingdom. _________________ Macsalaama.

In that episode, he wanted to murder someone, I don't know if he achieved murdering that person or not, so did he commit? One thing I wonder is that the British soap operas are broadcast at night, while folks down here in North America watch them in the afternoons. _______________ Macsalaama.

Salaan... An overcrowded small boat sailed from Libya on October 03, 2003, destined to Italy with close some 100 people; they journeyed with little food, inadequate, scarcely fresh water and not with any blankets to shield from the cold on the sea. What was expected to be a great journey ended with a very heartbreaking tragedy. All but 15 of them perished in the sea, succumbing to the strong cold tides of the Mediterranean, from the cold itself, starving and unbearable thirst. To those 15 who barely made to Italy, some are in critical condition. Among them was a visibly shaken father who lost three of his four children. 13 dead bodies were found on the boat with other alive terrified 15 survivors; other bodies had been thrown into sea to make a room to those who were still alive. Those 13 bodies were buried today {Friday, October 24} in Rome, Italy. Here are their pictures: The interim ambassador giving his sorrow speech on the tacsi A visibly shaken mayor of Rome People paying their last respects, among them some former Italian ministers The rainbow flag is the flag of a Soomaali organization in Talyaaniga ________________ How they had wished to set a foot on any European soil. How they dreamed to a day of reaching to Europe. And it ended their bodies burried there, not living in Yurub. O' may Allaah help our people, who long desperately for peace, seeking to find it in anywhere; some while seeking perishing on their way in the Saxara, on the seas and on lands. May Allaah forgive them all, and grant jana: Aamiin. Aamiin, Allahoow, aamiin.

Writing big words don't make u a better person!
Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar replied to finestsista2005's topic in General
Salaan... Awright! Awright! I must admit, I used to be a one who used to fancy and entertain with the big words once. Coming from ESL, in back at high school, to a Shakespearean play of Hamlet in English class, I thought I mastered the English language quickly. I thought wrong. However and nevertheless, big words never bothered me; bring them all on. Why? Read above. ____________________ Macsalaama. -
Prof Samatar – Academe cataclysm of the moment
Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar replied to miles-militis's topic in Politics
Salaan... This individual is an honest professor. Unbiased and not blinded by qabiil, but honesty of Soomaali unity. I almost always agree his ideas about Soomaali unity, except though when he was against Cali Khaliif Galeyr's nomination to teach at the university he works at. That was unnecessary. ________________ Macsalaama.
