  1. I suggest you request a refund from your university. History has changed.
  2. ^tit for tat posts between forum members on SOL bore me. I believe I once read a post, where you said u were 65? Now isnt that the age of retirement..Akhi, I haven't experienced this myself, But I have heard that unemployment and old age can be seriously dull...to be honest, 866 posts in one year, hounding innocent posters on a public forum...is proof enough.. Now did you hear about Walmart? It usually hires old ,mentally and physically challenged people to greet customers as they come through the doors. Go for it! And do keep us updated SB, inshallah khair you may find a new purpose for life.
  3. Ya Rab, that is plain scary. I can imagine only two pot heads would come up with something this retarded. The obession in the media, is fueling this story, for the last few days, Global,CTV and the newspapers, Toronto Star, Sun etc etc..have not reported on anything but this. Increasing everyones paranioa and unfounded fears... but the canadians are very sensible people, hopefully this will end soon.
  4. ^ hve a nice birthday I should start a book where I write all my "To Do's", their all on pieces of papers in my room, behind my textbooks. ITs very funny to see a to do list from highschool, or first years of univ. Everyone should have a plan, or else how would you measure ur achievements. I dont know about a 5yr plan it feels so limited. I have plans according to my age...by my late 20's and late 30's and late 40's and late 50's and late 60's and late 70's. everything on my mental list should be completed, INSHALLAH! My plan for my late 70's is the most important...to grow mango and bannana trees in my perfect garden.
  5. the women in my mother's family have a strange connection, for example my mother would wakeup and simply say that her mom all the way in africa is thinking of her right now and walahi my ayeeyo calls a few mins later. its always like that. It would be rather interesting if my sisters and I grew up to be like that with our mother. I would consider it a gift, even though its a bit scary if u were to glimpse horrible things.
  6. It depends on your height.....a 5'feet woman might consider herself over weight at 140, where as a 5'11 woman might consider herself fit or even underweight at 140...everyones ideal body wieght is different...
  7. Ilhaam..loooooool, I begged for my mother to drive me way up there when I saw the Ad in the summer of my 11th grd, I sat there all expecting and dressed so professionaly, they mentioned the Knives and Door to Door after TWO HOURS of sitting down and filling papers...I went back to the car to my patient hoyo and cousin sitting there fuming after waiting outside in the heat for two hours...and when I mentioned the job and what it consitited of, they could not stop laughing...go to a stranger, knock on his door with a bunch of knives, ur welcoming him to kill you lol..heh walahi ur brave, you tried to actually sell them. since then I have had no commitment to any sort of "job". Worst Job Ever. Zellers! Maybe its okay to work as a cashier at Zellers..but after working for 2yrs as a Cashier at Rogers, I didnt care for that job, So when I was offered Service Rep..I went for it...I was basically the person who ran around the huge store getting prices for the cashiers on unmarked stuff! Also I had to answer calls from people at home calling to see how much something is worth...which meant doulbe the job... I was offered 1.5 hrs of training and let loose ont the store...it was horrible...didnt know where anything was...****** people yelling at me, once they saw the red shirt, as if i knew what every litte thing cost... Never went back after the first day. I think its nice if ppl mention thier BEst Job! Cirque Du Soliel, I was an usher for the show in Toronto one summer absolute fun working with Clowns and everyone was just basically happy.
  8. a weight issue is very sensitive stoic, your freind is aware of what is going she isn't blind to it, she knows that she is gaining weight and her selfesteem might be suffering also so a talking straight to her might not be the best thing. in my opinion. sometimes there things that are going on with a person, that food becomes a some sort of comfort..from stress at school..to stress in her personal life. The best thing is support, i am a big person myself, and i can tell you if it wasnt for my friends going to the gym with me in the begining few weeks, I would not be has committed as I am now, its just scary sometimes and I know it doesn't make sense, but it simply is, and having a friend there is makes a difference. So may be go out one day for a walk with her, saying that you have felt like a good powerwalk for some days. if your a member at one of the large gyms like Bally get her a two free pass or even if would like, people who are thinking about working out, get one week free passes to Bally, go with her and check out all the classes, from Yoga to Boxing.. Hope things turn out well.
  9. Animal Farm um ur in montreal, it comes on the space channel..you should get it its a canadian channel.. and this show isnt really sci-fi, its simply an amazing drama/action/comedy/romance show..everything in one Cons..leave startrek alone...its a low point in the history of startrek..the saga shall continue soon inshallah!
  10. Sad to say had to miss all of LOST season due to work but will buy it and watch it all in one sitting.. Why isnt Battlestar Galatica on the list. THe season finale WAS AMAZING tonight, its the highest rated tv show right now...just amazing..can't wait for the third season with the surrender of new caprica to the cylons..and adamos gone with the fleet..its just tooo good.
  11. We have to be very skeptical of these reports, any intelligent person can see how racist it is…a disease where the usual cause is sexual promiscuity is linked to Africans…tis that racist stereotype that was created during colonization, missionary work…â€we are here to help the godless, the immoral†blah blah. I didn’t read the paper or care to….i mean that one singular quote faraxo put up is proof enough... read this paper written by Charles Geshekter called the Critical reappraisal of African aids research and western sexual stereotypes. READ it and his other work, he did some stuff in Somalia too…very interesting stuff. One of the things that blew me off was how aids was diagnosed in most African countries….now consider a country crippled in debt, non existent social structures…how are people diagnosed with the virus….i mean there isn’t one single test for aids that tells you have it or not…signs of a weak immune system in a person who is does not have any other diseases like TB or Malaria in the west (where they are rare anyway) has the possibility to have aids. now this is with tests done in proper hospitals. now these things don’t exist or don’t function to fulfill all the needs in most African countries. how do they diagnose people….through a list of symptoms….the person has been weak/fatigued for more then one month, diarrhea, lost considerable weight, general illness….is diagnosed with HIV…….how messed up is that !!! now this poor person could simply be suffering from the daily struggles of life, lack of nutrition, have previously suffered from other diseases that weaken his/her immune system….i mean wtf ! this loose careless classification of such a disease is criminal man..well enough I am not going to summaries his writings but seriously read read read…the paper and look up his earlier work
  12. ^ lol Um you all seem to have moved to several countries...min seems to be three stops here before reaching your final destination... Well I was born and breed in Qatar, took an airplane trip to Toronto in the late 90's and I have lived in the city since then! I dont expect to leave either..its just so beautiful, I am in love with spring wallah. Had a picnic the other day by the lake..amazing. I know this would sound very cliche..but gazing at the beauty of the lake early in the morning, with the sun hiting it in that angle, it looked like there were millions of diamonds in the water, i was amazed...felt so tiny held in its presence and also exteremly annoyed with myself its literally in my backyard a ten min walk and I have barely been there more then 4 times!! But will be visitng Somalia for the first time this summer. lets see how its, if it lives up to all that hype...
  13. ^ um exactly you dont have to use the oil itself...olive oil conditioners from bodyshop are real nice...so are the honey conditioners..which i use mostly. I dont know, the olive oil does something..to your hair..I put some of it before i go to bed, dhubdhub my hair to small bits, cover it up. no issues of it seeping through to the bedcovers..no need to put that much. just enough. in the morning you just take ur usual shower and wash your hair well with whatever shampoo+conditioner you have. What I need to find is something that would make your hair grow!...back home..it was no issue.however there is something wierd in this water..here..any ideas?
  14. ^ every three weeks...interesting.. I have a thing about washing my hair..its a stress releaver, I get crazy headaches atleast once a day...cold water through on my head just calms everything down. however tis taking a toll on my hair.I use to have thick black hair..that is well becoming anything but thick and black now..more like a dull black..so the remedy i am trying to use now is lots of olive oil, nice little braids limiting washing my hair to atleast every other day.
  15. ^ i used to think the more expensive something is the better it is.how silly of me.all their fancy named coffee drinks...caramel this choco that..is all that I bought, until i came upon this simple falafel store at my school one morning really in need of black coffee, and every other second cup tim hortons and starbucks was closed...thier sizes were funny too...a meduim was equal to a large in the other stores and honestly cost me 1.15...0.15 for tax....it was amazing...serious coffee, with all the spices too...it was just soo good you didnt need sugar in it...now that is good coffee..where sugar becomes unecessary. So i go there before all my morning classes...however....I am still madely inlove with the white choco macadeian nut cookies from second cup...that cost...i wont tell thier too expensive..it doesnt help that there is a huge second cup next my gym..it should be illegal..to have any ready made food stores built next fitness centers! lol g'day. folks
  16. That is so sad, children having children. yallah.. On Zafir's example. Namelesschick your inessense defending a man who sought to marry a child, using the Nabi (pbuh) as example now that is a massive error, the marriages of the nabi were different and allowed for specific political and social alliances... Now when a mere Muslim of our time is looking for life partner, should he not look into a person where there is compatiblity in diin, life expectations and social class...What does a 30yr old and 13 yrold have in common? nada...its sick...and may allah forgive those who allowed for such union to take place and continue to do so by standing on the sidelines..
  17. LOL Castro... Yes Alberta is a Province...and has several cities. But the majority of somalis live in the Capital edmonton. I heard its very beautiful, and it isnt hard to find good jobs, there is a good sized muslim pop in edmonton, very strong history of a lebonanis in the city, also heard of a very large beautiful masjid. Now thats all the good stuff A neighbour, moved there a year ago and came back to Toronto. According to her she couldn't stand it, after living around so many of her own people or in general around a big mixedup city like toronto, Edmonton was just too ..white.. and the jobs were all low paying jobs, she said the rent was credibly low but basic things like food and other amenities were very very expensive... Anyway, before making such a major decision, visit it in the summer..the winters are brutal...in any of those provinces...
  18. that song. by Ne-Yo."So Sick" makes me so sick..Dr Phil makes me sick...boring slow( in speech) people make me sick, also those people who say "you know" after every sentence make me sick..no I DONT KNOW! thats why i am here listening to you. and looking for a summer job is making me not sick but unhumane....
  19. The Stand was King's best book....Have you read "The Cell" serioulsy disappointed...its copy of the Stand..with a new technology twist.. Best Books One Hundred Years of Solitude-Marquez She Comes Undone -Wally Lamb The House of the Spirits - Allende Will Add One more... The Suitable Boy. Seth
  20. Really?....Excuse me, If I find it hard to believe, I am all for miracles...would be nice though, if that amabsador really converted to Islam
  21. ^ lol..you know who he reminds me of, that skit on the chappelle show, where the leader of the KKK is a blind black man, only in this case..he is blinded by a severe hate of his own kind! ...Lakin walahi the level of ignorance and hate in this thread is so scary, all this time I should not have feared the racist behaviour of the white man.... but of my own people, I have always known somalis had disillusions of superiority but the likes of KEYNAAN(why capital? another why to feel better about yourself) just make you feel like screaming. Its incredibly sad so sad, but alhamdulilah, your the miniorty, and inshallah will always be, your comfortable spewing your garbage here, behind this anonymity. Ps. Has his post and the rest of them not voliated some of the several Camel Milk Threads, I believe in this example calling the existence of a people a mistake by God (istaqfurallah, his knowledge of the diin is also weak)constitues a racial remark! thank....you and G'night!!!
  22. Is it really about the language? I would say tis more about whats being said and who is saying it.....I am sure german love poetry would sound heavenly if your head over heals for the person ....personally, I dunno, Arabic poetry, the proper kind...no slang plz...is just woow...somali is up there too...
  23. ^ Are you serious...Am I coming into the middle of an inside joke. Do you really believe that millions of people are suffering, due to thier ********* ..... Lost for words.... I have grown tired of these topics, please check yourself and stop falling prey to the image created by the western media of Africa... Famines and Natural diasters happen all over the world, Africa is neither immune or the exception to the rule.
