Toronto is a wonderful city. And this statement depends on what part of the city you choose to live in. I personally would suggest moving to either Brampton, Woodbridge, Thornhill in the north west of the city, or in the east end, Markham, Rouge Valley area and northern parts of Scarborough. In my opinion most other places such as the West end i.e. etoboko, north york, east york, main scarborough, and main toronto downtown are no gos if you have a family to raise. The schools are awful and the teachers are no good most of the times. If your in the technical feild Brampton/Malton/Woodbridge area as so many factories that are hiring, not sure what kind of jobs they offer...but the big signs are always hanging from the roofs of the factories..so they must be in some need. Dont focus on where your freinds live or family does, focus on what area is going to be good for your children. I am glad this is what my family did, and I loved my school and so does my younger siblings. Good luck

Its true, without even conciously knowing it I have been acting like every job I applied for since 16yrs of age was something I was meant to do. Little confused is it for a job interview or casual conversation? Anyway the person really doesnt want to know the truth, they really dont care to know YOU! but how your useful to THEM So say something they would want to hear, depending on the situation. Example Job-At this time I am an honour student at University ABC, in my free time I volunteer with ABC charity and spend time with younger siblings/freinds/wife/ill mother. I personally see myself as a hardworking, honest individual who is willing to learn. Freind/Girlfriend/Boyfriend/Nosy Family member- Walahi to be truthful, I love what I am learning and glad to be able practise while I am in school. I get the most peace when I am praying (better be the truth or dont say it lol) family is important to me and would love to have my own, and ofcourse I want to go and live in somalia or some other muslim country, so i can truly practise my deen and bring up a virtuous family. tis all about bsing.

Oh my god! Arent women bosses the worst? I am sorry, but I have never had a woman as my boss until now and I simply cannot stand her. I know this cannot be generlized. BUT some women are just evil, and power hungry and such BIG BIG horrid like biatches. that was such a cool video. In the begining I supported the poor buffalos walking in peace with thier little calf and evil lions come along and try to eat it! how horrible...but after the lions were surrounded by the buffalos, couldnt help feeling a bit sorry for the lions..was it thier fault that they were hungry? maybe they were starving...who knows.. lol thats life of a indecisive person. can't choose a side.

Go for something so totally unique for ur first daughter/son. But also keep in mind to make it simple, thank god my parents always kept our names (I and my siblings) short and sweet always 4 letters long. If your going to make it long, make sure u can create a very cute affectionate nickname for the baby. If you have a first son, the name Adam is so appropriate. And for a daughter, I was always, partial to the name Suhair

I see my future so clearly, its all good now that I have come to understand who is who and where I stand with those that I once believed treasured me for who I was. Its good to know your freinds from the hypocrites. I see myself completely succesful and my close and loved family so happy. I see my self getting closer to Allah, finding that true balance finally. Haven't been keeping up, exams taking are simply taking over. Great discussion so far, Viking well said how can we enforce those laws when other necessary factors are lacking? About the lecture itself, in general from what I have read so far in his lectures, articles online and attending his lectures in person, I simply love fact that he speaks to those who are committed to living the west, being practising muslim and contributing members of society. All those things are mutually possible. I remember one line clearly, its important that we do not take our direction as to how we behave and interact with the our neighbours here, right now from those who are unable to understand back east, due to lack of experience. And looking at it simply it makes alot of sense, Muslims are all alike everyone, but challenges that we face are not the same and the reactions that we have to them cannot be the same, specially when we are so fragmented. I like how re-asserts the fact that there is no quest for integration anymore, that its really a fabrication. We are already integrated, but we lack the necessary initiative to contribute to our local communities and make our positive presense known. I like how he clears up this false notion that Islam and practising Muslims cannot live peacefully in the west, that for some reason we are "foreign" and will always be. That we should always dream of going back "home" how many ever generations have lived in the west. That, that thought process in itself is deafting. Creating generations of tempororay citizens, one step in and one step out. He's work, as far as I readup to and heard of, allows for Western Muslims ( and yes they do exist) to form a positive identity. Which is so important. Looking foward to reading two of his books this summer, and inshallah will post my thoughts on them But do carry on,

You are paying taxes to a secular state you are contributing to its advancement (even though its to your own as well) if your an employee of a company you pay monthly for your pension plans which are invested and also accumlate interest. ^Let's be realistic, people in small towns are exteremly suspicious of any changes, let alone changes that are being proposed by Muslims at this current time high tension with crazy media reporting. It takes lots of effort and he realizd that, it might not be pretty, might not cater to our high pride but its necessary to survive and succeed in these lands. In my own neighbourhood, our local masjid commitee lost an effort to convert this old church into a new masjid, for years they were raising money, but it never seemed enough until the church decided that the building was no longer for sale and began services again. It all wasnt a waste, a better facility was bought, but even in a multi-cultural place like toronto, the fear of the "other" getting to close still exists, and that needs to be elimanted.
