anyone watch the season premier last sunday?
  2. LOL these ads must be computer generated...ya rab...can even still buy that book? ps. did you click on the link?
  3. Cadaan, lol your a "cultured" white person. But honestly I was at the theater today and had a group of forty something white suburbanites sitting behind me, of course for fun I was overhearing their very loud conversation and at one point in it went to college education. They were making fun of one of their acquaintances who was in Dental Hygienist College...they couldn't understand why he didn't go to university to study Art or Literature...couldn't help smiling the blog mentioned this notion of superiority...I guess they were correct!
  4. No reason to complain, I received a letter I was waiting for . Held it for a moment standing outside the mailbox on my street praying that the content will be good , opened and read it quick as if speed reading wouldn't make it hurt as much , but it was all good by the second paragraph, didn't care it was broad daylight..I screamed a little and jumped up like a child! so no complaints at all.Alhamdulilallah!
  5. I can't blame them, many recruiting firms look for the "Correct fit" most of the time a "Maxamed or Awees" isn't the correct fit...
  6. oh man, what a funny blog! its written from a such an authoritarian position, how can you argue?
  7. He is good ! I heard him first with the song Kick Push, his new song "Fighter" is very good too...whoever Mathew Santos is...he can sing!
  8. That I think you must know, blimey (my new favourite word) nothing really, since I dont know you. But something general that I can share and find interesting...is traveling and I hope my next trip is to either Turkey or PEI Have you ever experienced a panic attack ( of any degree) from hyperventilating and repeating words to a full fledged faint.
  9. No..don't think i have...does "Yeppie" count? Have you ever questioned a core belief?
  10. Yes I would, life is short ! What is the last poem you read?
  11. ^ To exist. If you were to meet The Doctor (From Doctor Who-TV Show) suddenly and he asked you one question..."Want to come along?" would you accept to be the doctor's new companion and travel through the time vortex in the Tardis?
  12. ^ It is worth watching really, but don't expect too much. Glad to see I am not the only one who didn't get the ending, i just think it was bad execution it could have been better, such a very good plot...for those who watched it don't you think the Sherif was a bit old..not sure what's his name is now. But Viggo Morteson..would have been better in it.
  13. I loved this movie.. for the sake of the begining, the middle...but seriously what the HECK was up with the ending...that monologue by old sherif...was pointless. It was easier to understand that long complicated speech in the Matrix Reloaded. I know that it had some significance but the delivery was emotionless and mundane...there was no weight put on it..and then the movie ends... Um no I haven't read the book, but I am planning on picking it up hoping it sheds more light than the movie did. The author is exceptional though, I read his latest book "the road" and it was amazing one of the best books that I have read recently, I am tempted to compare it to the "Invisible Man" terms of goodness, but it have that duality of provoking thought and emotion like the "Invisible Man".
  14. Poor girl, I hope his anger was simply out of shock and things return to normal...you would think after four years there is some sort of dialogue formed between them.

What the heck happened to NAS! seriously...
  16. 0% ! Been there, and didn't feel that "home" connection everyone's talking about, I was actually homesick!. What's the best meal you ever had?
  17. If Obama wins the nomination, I think he will have a very difficult time against McCain. One is an inexperienced senator and the other is well we all know..a war hero and a lifetime politician.
  18. Pucca lol..tis tough on black women isn't it, who do we support the first serious female candidate or the first serious black candidate. I would personally vote for Clinton, I think she has the strongest chance against winning against Mccain..the lack of experience that Barrack has, is his failing point. Question What category Identifies foremost in your mind. So all can be included but how would you categorize them. Female/Male, Muslim, Black, Somali?
  19. Am I missing something here? sounds interesting what everyone is replying to, but where is the main post?
  20. She's beautiful, but I am not sure about the music..listened to a couple and I wasn't sure if she was singing in Somali! Why do people always revert to comparing someone who has bad Somali to a sujui? All the "Sujui's" I know have perfect somali, better than most of the somalis in the west these days...
  21. They do prefer the American dollar, but when I was there a lot of the local stores asked if I had any Somaliland money instead, since its a hassle to go exchange the funds, and specially since everyone EVERYONE argued about the correct exchange rate...your safer dealing with the local monies, naturally most of the shopkeepers tried to rip you off. So its a yes and no answer. They love American money, but its hassle to pay with it. I always found it funny, how we find praise for one lone building in the middle of desolation. I'd be happier if everyone living in a tin hut had a proper home...instead of some expensive hotel no one can afford to stay in. Perspective folks, this isn't development but the aesthetics of it.
  22. ONE Somalia, lady your one of a kind, why would any sane person want to be forgotten leftovers? I wonder if by breaking the contract the first wife can add another contingency, like a payout a certain amount in addition on top of what she is entitled to with of course the right to immediately divorce
  23. Had to bring this super thread back! Anyone falling in love with Asalah's last album? Specially the song Aktthar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDve4HYlnJg (the video) Any other good songs? Plus found this hysterical translation of Layla by Kathem El Saher Its long ofcourse, but seriously shouldn't translate somethings. Layla Matat be mehrabi einaiki ibtihalati. My entreaties died in the caverns of your eyes. Wa estaslamat le reyahi al yaas rayati. And my flags surrendered to the winds of despair. Jafaat ala babiki el mawsood azminati. My days escaped to find your door closed. Layla. Layla Wa ma athmarat shayan nidaati? And what transpired with the object of my cries? Aamani ma rafani lahnon ala watarin. Two years and she didn't hear the melody of my strings... Wala istifaqat ala noorin samawati. And she didn't the see light of my sky. Wa atiqol hob fi qalbi wa asooroho. Fa arshifol hama. I freed the love in my heart and squeezed it...Then I drank grief Fi moghbar kasati. From a dirty chalice. Momazakoon ana. La jahoon wa la taarafoon yeghoriki feya. And I became torn. I had no prestige or luxury to tempt you with. Fakhalini li ahati. So then leave me with my grief .. Law taasorina seneen al omr akmalaha. If you squeeze the years of my life completely, La sala minha nazifoon min jirahati. The blood from my wounds would flow. Law konto zad tarafin ma konti rafidatan hobi. If I had riches, you would not have refused my love. Wa lakina osr al hal, fokor al hal, daaf al hali maasaai. But I am in a state of difficulty, a state of poverty, a state of weakness. Aanaito, aanait. I suffered... I suffered La hozno aboho bihi. Wa lasti tadrin shayaan an moanati. But I do not reveal my sorrow, and you did not know a thing about my suffering. Amshi wa adhako, ya Layla, mokabaratan. I walk and smile, oh Layla, because I'm stubborn. Alli okhabi an al nas ihtidarati. So I hide from the people, my approaching death. La al nas tirifo ma amri fa tazironi. For if the knew what is the matter, they would try to console me. Wa la sabilal adayhim fi moasati. And I knew that they could not. Yarsoo bi jafnaya hermanon yamooso dami. Deprivation rests upon my brow and sucks my blood. Wa yastabiho iza shaa abtisamati. And only he can allow me to smile. Maazoraton anti in ajhaftili amali. You are forgiven for aborting my hopes. La al zanb zanboki, bal kanat hamakati. The fault is not yours; it was my foolishness. Adaato fi arad al sahraai qafilati. I wasted my procession in the desert. Wa jeito abhatho fee ainaiki aan zati. And I came, looking for myself in your eyes. Wa jeito ahdanak al khadraa montashian. And I came, looking for happiness in your embrace. Kal tifli yaahmilo ahlami al bariqati. Like a child, I formed my innocent dreams. Gharasti kafaki taktathin awridati. And you planted your palms and uprooted my veins. Wa tashakina bila rifkin masarati. And you are planted without the kindness of my pleasures. Wa ghorbata, And she emigrated... Modaaon hajarat modoni aani. My lost cities emigrated away from me Wa ma abhrat minha shiraati. And my sails never left her. Nofito wa astawtan al aghrabo fi baladi. I was exiled and the strangers settled in my country Wa damaro kolo ashyaa al habibatihi. And they destroyed all my beloved things. Khanatki ainaki. Your eyes betrayed you. Fi zaifin wa fi kazibin. With forgery and lying Am gharak al bohrojo al khadaa. Your confusion decieved you. Mawlati. My lady. Farashaton geito olki kohla ajnihati la adaiki. I came as a butterfly to place within your hands, the colors of my wings. Fahtarakat zolma janihati. Then injustice burned my wings. Asiho wa al saifo mazroon bi khasirati. I screamed while the sword was implanted in my chest. Wa al ghadro hatama amali al aridati. And the betrayal destroyed my huge hopes. Wa anti aydan ala tabat yadaki. And you also, I perished on your hands. Ala tabat yadaki. I perished from your hands. Iza sarti qatlia wa astazabti anati. Because you preferred my murder and loved the sound of my groans. Mali bi hazf ismaki al shafaafi min loghati. And so I deleted your precious name from my languages. Izan satomsi bila Layla... Layla. Therefore, they will be told without Layla... Layla Izan satomsi bila Layla... hikayati. Therefore they will be told without Layla, my stories.
  24. Yes you should, I don't know much on this topic, but I find the whole idea of paying Microsoft hundreds to type an essay mad! so I think its a good idea to support those who want to share software for free No question? I will take one up then. What would you rather do read, "War and Peace" or run on a slate full of hot coal?
