first time i agree with a warlord. what is wrong with abdulahi yusuf, from all people how he dares to bring ethiopians to somalia, i hope people in mogadisho will never accept it.

^^^ well said, i hate when people use westernized argument to belittle others' opinion, btw i do not understand why are some people obssesed with polygamy when as matter of fact islam does not encourage it. if someone wants to practice it, then that is their choice but there is no need to force others to accept it.

I want to help Dhagaxtuur's Family: Does anyone know?
bilan replied to Alle-ubaahne's topic in General
i heard dhagax-tuur was not one person, but he is a symbol of all people who died in 1936(not sure the date)in mogadisho, they(somalis) were demanding independence and they did not have a weapon except stones, that is where the name came from. that is what i haerd. -
even if the entire muslim population agreed with the father that does not make it right. some people mix honor killing and islam. i was reading about a girl killed by her brother because he saw her talking and laughing with an strange man, he killed both of them, and police are not doing anything about it,because most people agree what the brother did,it makes my blood boil when people say it is part of the religion,

^^^ these kind of posts are not helpful at all, someone else will post attacking another group and praising theirs, but what will we gain from that, i do not think anyone has the knowledge to go into deep debate. i understand you have problems with him and others, but copying and pasting an article that calls him non-muslim is too far,if you ever read any of his books you would realize that he was a muslim.
-
do not let your imagination go too far, maybe she was sending the email to someone else, and you got that message by mistake but do not say there is no future loving married men,how many somali men are ready to marry second wife? so
-
that is really sad, probably he will get what he deserves(execution). even if she was not he had no right to kill her.
-
because the society likes to blame only girls does not make it right. as i said before no one knows what is exactly going on. so if he really wanted honest discussion he could have made it more general like chevonist suggested.

Is there such a thing as HALAL DATING? If so, what is it?
bilan replied to Seeking Paradise's topic in General
somalis use to date way before westerners discovered it, but people did not call it date,it was shukaansi, xodxodasho etc, the way i understand halal date even though never heard of it before, but it is the period when two people are getting to know each other. so people do not tell me if you met someone today you will go and marry the next day. -
anyone can see that the poster did not want to show what is going on in somalia, or cared about these kids,he picked up that region particularly for a reason, there was something going on between nationalist and the poster, each one of them was defending their region, so why ban only him, it would have make sense if you banned all of them, because he was reacting to what others posted, and those things are not even name calling. all somalis even those who claim they do not care about qabiil, get angry when someone tries to belittle their region. Originally posted by Jumatatu: His nationalism is narrow as his mind it does not expand further than 'reer-qurac and reer-fulaan'...very shallow indeed. [/QB] what is the difference what nationalist called ngonge and what this nomad called him.
-
i do not know what was the difference between him and others who are still here, he was not different than any other somali, i think if adm wants to ban all the qabiil loyalist then they should ban all of them not pick and choose.

AJ are not you assuming too much? how do you know what they do,plus you heard the story from boy's point of view, maybe he did not meet her online and he lied to you or maybe she rejected him and he is mad at her, or maybe he is telling the truth, the point is you can not be sure. to accuse some one that they committed the act of zina, you need to have four grown up, trust worthy witnesses who saw the actual act taking place.

What's the Islamic courts facination with Italian bones?
bilan replied to wind.talker's topic in Politics
what kind of religion do these people believe? "islamic courts" those are not even real islamic court they prosecute weak people, wasn't it few years ago when their imam was bombing mogadisho because he had disagreement with another one. he never asked himself how many innocent people he killed.those people are twisting our religion and if we do not stop them now, tomorrow what would they do,probably they will say someone is not muslimif they do not pray according to them.also was not the prophet told his campanions not to say anything bad about abu-jahal, because it hurts the living(his son) and does not reach the dead. and we are surprised why our religion is misunderstood. disgusting people  those who want the article is here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4187097.stm -
i could not agree with you farxan, sometimes i feel like muslims are acting like catholics where they see virgin mary every where. i mean there are bigger signs that proof the existance of Allah than a picture or tree, plus people make up those sort of things

salaam i read both parts of this subject, but for some reason nur you do not take their(women) emotions into account. when men are allowed to marry more than one, was after the battle of uhud, and there were a lot of widows and orphans that needed someone to take care of them, but that is not the case these days, men marry because they need to feel young again. i was reading a book by muhammad qutb, and he said that actually islam does not encourage polygamy, and he really made good points. but why do we have to argue about it. men have the right to marry more than one, women have the right not to be one of them.women are different some can accept it and others can not. plus somali men are not scarce.

juba sis there was nothing called dating in somali culture and people used to marry someone that they have seen once or twice, and it worked perfectly because there were fewer divorces than now, today people go out and date for 5 years but they divorce after 2 years in marriage or so. as meeting someone in real life for some people it is difficult because they live places where it is hard to meet somali, not everyone pumps into somali every day. so why does it matter how you meet someone whether it is in school, bus, work, or through your parents(arrenged) or online. what matters is do they have the qualities that you are looking for.

i guess i'm bit of slow do you mind explaining more

i guess some people are suggesting since we are somalis, we should not talk about anything except the warlords,SL and PL, but what about those of us who are not interested in those things. i would like to know when people diss somalis are they exceptional? or they do not consider themselves to be somalis. cajaa'ib

salaam some people when the hear the name of arab country assume that the person must be hating them, relax people, he just talked about one country, and dubai does not represent entire arab world, he just shared what he saw in dubai. few years ago this forum some people talked about pakistanis tradition of women paying dowry and honor killing, as far as i remember no one accused them of hating pakis. and i bet if someone posted exact samething smith said but not dubai, instead malaysia, pakistan,or brunei,no one would have said anything. so if someone says something about one arab country that does not mean it applies to all arab countries or all arab people, this topic was about one muslim city, but some of you turned it into arab issue. why?
-
i thought everyone who know him, knows also he is not muslim cause he never hide it, and i heard from people who really know him that he was not raised as a muslim meaning he was never a muslim so actually he did not change his religion, but he should've respected his audience.

king it is one thing to be against who wrote this article, but to deny that they suffered more than others is not right, yeah they had the same right as everyone else, but after the war they and other minority were the ones who paid the price, people who were starving to death in 1992,did not die because they could not find food, but because some one else took their farms by force. and why are they the only ones who are required to apologize what about the rest of somalis?
