  1. You couldn't make this stuff up. Faroole opposed the creation of Khaatumo State and yet he is lecturing the central government about letting others form ill-advised maamuls that are destined to rekindle the Civil War.
  2. xiinfaniin;921902 wrote: LOL Abwaan seriously jinnoole waaye , he doubts the 7 million strong that inhabits from Godey to Garisa, all the way to Ceelbarde, Kombooni The whole Kombe clan with its kab iyo lax iyo xarti etc. doesn't number 7 million because the entire Somali race is estimated to number between 15-20 million. How on earth can one sub-clan be half of the Somali population? So much delusions of grandeur but then again, Xiin, Bashi, Zack and the rest of our Kombe brothers are ulalating for the fantasy that is Jubaland. It is par for the course I suppose.
  3. Haatu, stretch? Dheg u taag means to do what animals (prey) do when they sense predators around. Ever watched National Geographic/Discovery Chanel? You don't know what you missing! Currently, I'm engrossed in David Attenboro's Africa.
  4. Xiin, there is no doubt some members of USC clan feel Federalism disadvantages them but my opposition to Federalism is more fundamental. I don't believe it is the right solution for Somalis. Federalism will lead to a farce like the 1969 elections which witnessed some 100different political parties competing. The parties were fashioned along sub-sub-sub clan lines... it was complete and utter chaos. The same will happen with federalism. You will have one thousand and one different mini sub-clan states masquerading as federal states. How does that bring Somalis together. The alternative and the only workable solution to Somalia's political qaugmire is strong central government. A strong and capable central government, one that represents all Somalis, is all that Somalis are missing. The reason is this: the whole Federalism rigamorle is predicated on a false premise, namely that there are irreconcialable political (clan) differences between Somalis. We know that is not true. How did Alshabab hold on to Kismaayo for nearly 5 years?! How come we didn't hear about Kismaayo being "occupied" by rer hebel during Alshabaab's reign but we only hear that when Alshabaab vacated the premises? The reign of Alshabaab shows that what Somalis are yearning is a government that provides security, stability and justice. Going back to those who are against Federalism for qabiil reasons, what is wrong with that? If some clans feel federalism will disenfranchise them, isn't that an argument against federalism? Why should we accept federalism that only works for some but not for all? Don't tell me you honestly believe Somalis have agreed to abide by federalism framework because they haven't. Your problem is you're trying to square a circle and when you realize that you can't square a circle, you blame it on the federal government. The federal government in Xamar is toothless and has no say in what happens in Kismaayo. Hell, it can't even control Afgooye without AMISOM. Your madness is such that you now see the federal government composed of all Somali clans as exclusively USC clan government. Talk about madness.
  5. Haatu, not in my neck of the woods. And that makes no sense whatsoever. Why would your ear make drip (jalaq) sound? No boy, just say the way I do.
  6. Xiin, sxb weesadee aaba iga jabtey markii aan akhriyey threadkan bismillah!
  7. Xiin, wallee iyo billee waa isku dhexyaacdey. Sxb, Jubbooyinka ma aha Bari ama Mudug oo hal ama labbo reer kili dagaan. Jubbooyinka, sida Koonfurta Somalia wixii ka hooseeya Hiiraan iyo Sh. Dhexe, waa dhul Somali oo idil degto. Sidaa awgeed ma fududa sidee maamul taliswadaag ah loogu dhiso maxaayeelay Somalida iskuma kalsoona. Hadda eeg kuwa hor boodaya, u sacab tumaya, u ololeynaya Jubbaland... yeey yihiin kuwaa? Ma dadka Jubooyinka degaa oo dhan mise hal beel kili? Haddii ee tahay hal beel kili, maxee beeshaas kaga duwantahay kuwii shallay ku dagaalami jirey? Jubbaland ma oofi doonto sababtana ma aha dhantaal Rer USC hurinayaan ee waa maamul xaqdarro ku saleysan. In nin ku yimid Bari, Mudug, Galguduud, Somali Galbeed ama NFD ka taliyo Kismaayo waa habeenkii xalay ahaa oo tegey. Iska illow sxb arrintaa ma hagaageyso. Taliswadaagnimo (Federalism) waligeed ka ma hirgeli doonto Koonfurta Somalia. Dhululkaas waxee u baahanyihiin maamulo dowlada dhexe u sameyso. Ama diid ama yeel, ta adee ku taal. Lakin haddii runta ka weecano, wax kasta aa isku sheegi karnaa.
  10. Mooge, adi cambuuli kili maa taqaan? Aaway masago, sisin, galeey, salbuko, sareen, iwm? Digirta gaduudan mooyee badar kale ma garaneysid? Clearly the "brainboosting" powers of kalluunka hasn't done much for rer Puntland. I mean, today all that is left in puntland is few boowe and fish. and if I was betting man I would bet the fish to win... goordhow rer Puntland kalluunka aa halkaas ka soo qaxin. Markii xiligaa la gaaro cambuulo waa cuni doontaa.

  12. Mooge, ciidamadan Bakaaraha ku dagaalamey waa guutada Puntland Dowlada Dhexe u soo dirtey. Wararka aa helay waxee leeyihiin dagaalka waxaa sababey muran ee ciidanka isku qabsadeen kalluun qeybsi. Ninyahow, maxaa kalluunka ku jeclaateen?
  13. War secessionist maxaa ka galay Kismaayo iyo soonahaa? We have Kenyan Somalis, Ethiopian Somalis and now we have the much loathed secessionist poking their noses in the affairs of Kismaayo. No wonder the city hardly enjoyed peace and stability. The problem, however, is this ill-thoughtout Federalism. It can not and will not work for any parts of Somalia south of Galguduud. North of Galguduud, it may work as those regions are inhabited by sub-sub clans with clearly defined boundaries. South of Galguduud is too diverse for federalism to work. This Jubbaland project will not succeed because Somali clan politics is sub-sub clan affair.
  14. Odey, glamorized models and movie stars aren't representative of your average women of any nationality/ethnicity. And I don't buy your argument that true beauty can be sullied by economic condition or what not. Marka, odey, i noo keen dumar kale oo dhigmi kara haweenka India.
  15. There is no doubt Hollywood demonizes dark-skinned folks (use to be Native Indians in the early 20th century) and normalization of violence and brutality against dark-skinned has a long, sordid history in Hollywood. Muslims, being largely of swarthy extraction, are getting their fair share. But why don't those rich Arab oil-states change the scene with their petrodollars? Why don't they invest in media and film production companies to change how Muslims are portrayed in the media?
  16. This is skewed representation... isn't this woman an actress or something? Please post your average Indian woman and let us decide for ourselves.
  17. Marksman, my bad for assuming a Somali wants to visit Mogadisho, the beating heart and soul of Somalis. But why o why do you wanna visit Japan of all places?

  19. USAID has a dark history in Somalia especially its collusion with the Siad Barre regime of malfeasance which directly led to the wholesale desctruction of Somalia's agricultural potential. When the Kacaanka government rose to power in 1970, Somalia and Somalis were self-sufficient in food production. The twilight period of Kacaanka government when aid agencies like USAID et all basically ran the country, Somalia couldn't feed half of its population. Lets learn from history!
  20. Che, ninyahow waxaan waa hypocrisy. You were dismissive of Keydmedia when they posted unflattery videos of your tolka. Now you're citing them. War iskuma xishootid?

  22. The only people in Somalia who practice or rely only on farming as a way of making a living are Bantu Somalis. They're found along the Shabeele and Jubba Rivers leading a sedentary life. All ethnic Somalis irrespective of clan are either outright pastoralists or agropastoralist (part-time nomads). So, you're woefully misinformed Somali Philosopher. It is accurate to say Somalis are nomadic people. And no one knows with any certainty the etymology of Somali. Some say it comes from two words: soo and maal which loosely translates as "go milk." Others say it comes from Samaale, the mythical progenitor of Somali people. Since I don't subscribe to Sab and Samaale fairytale, I'd stick to Soo Maal hypothesis until I find a better alternative.
  23. Apophis;917873 wrote: Rhetorical questions will not help you answer what I've said. Putting aside my Al-Qaaida affiliation charge, I will repeat what I have stated previously. There's no legitimate court system functioning in Mogadishu. The government is barely surviving and you want us to believe they were able to put together an even mediocre and somewhat impartial court system?? That is a key word -impartial-.and no, that I cannot believe (especially on your say so). It is not a rhetorical question. You've just dismissed as illegitimate one of the core institutions of the newly formed Federal Somali Government, one that was formed through protracted process involving all Somalis and won a ringing endorsement from the international community. It is fair to ask, if the courts in Xamar don't have legitimacy according to you, who does? And courts don't have to comply with your legitimacy criteria; only thing that matters is if they can render judgement and adjudicate disputes. There is plenty of evidence that there are functioning courts in Xamar. Human Rights Watch was recently up in arms about a court in Xamar that sentenced a journalist and alleged rape victim to prison. So, courts exist, function and render judgments. Only that there be a judicial system which is impartial and inclusive (from top to bottom). We do not have that now. Rome wasn't built in a day and reconstituting Somalia's legal system won't take 1 or 2 years. Give it a time and go on with your life in the meantime. If all you are content with is ticking a box which says people have gotten their property back then you only need one person to fulfil your criteria. You're missing the point. If properties have been returned, however few, then the argument that stolen properties haven't or can not be returned has been refuted. Only thing left to discuss is the pace and scale which we can all agree is slow and small. Queen Elizabeth herself, if she had her properties looted in Mogadishu, should not have to wait a second for what is rightfully hers let alone a refugee in living in a foreign country. Once again, you're missing the point. If the people "waiting for looted properties" were languishing in squalid refugee camps, then yes there should be greater urgency in restituting stolen properties. But they're not. At least not the ones on Youtube and the internet. Their lives would not be materially worse off if they wait another 5 years. So, what's the fuss? What makes you think things will be different in 5 years?? Because I'm sanguine person by nature and I believe with time and some luck Somalia will get better in the future. So, in 5 years time the legal system should be more robust and should better settle disputes between individuals. That's why we have elected leaders but I will suggest, humbly, maybe we should start to listen to the victims and not defend looters.[/ QUOTE] Who is against listening to the victims? If people have grievances about stolen properties IN Xamar, surely the place to take your grievances is Xamar not Youtube. And who is defending these nebulous "looters?" Requesting for people to adhere to a modicum of debating etiquete such as not engaging in ad hominem attacks (like calling Dhaqane "a looter who lives in looted property" as you, Che, Jacphur and Xiin have), is not defending these amorphous "looters." Ever met a looter in your life? I haven't. But I sure like to meet me a looter one day. Also, simply asking for documentation or some evidence for property you own is not tantamount to "defending looters." It is being prudent. And there is good reason for it. Take my family as an example. My father sold one of our homes near Mogadishu Stadium in late 1991 after we fled Xamar. It was private sale between two individuals, no courts or institutions oversaw or verified the sale. No taxes were paid. No reciepts were exchanged. I'm not sure if they even signed a letter indicating the sale. But suppose they did. If my father was morally unscrupolous, he can go back to Xamar today and reclaim his home. What can the new owner do? He has no official reciepts. He may have paper stating the change of ownership with my father's signiture but if my father disputes it, you'll need courts/tribunals to adjudicate. Anyway you look at you'll need a due process and to go back to Xamar not whine on Youtube. Millions were evicted at gun point so you'l forgive me if a few thousand locals coming back does not fill me with joy and a sense of a return to normalcy. You are losing your marbles. Millions never lived in Xamar so it is impossible for millions to have been evicted at gun point. It is clear that you never lived in Xamar during the Civil War because if you did, you'd know people were not "evicted" at gun point, they fled for their lives and opportunists occupied properties they thought were abandoned by their owners for good. They were wrong and should return them, no argument there. I will not be going back anytime soon and neither will any sensible person. Why would you go there? I thought you were from Kenya. Anyways, you're longfoot so you should have no problem going to Xamar. Only Xiin's folks are unwanted in Xamar (kidding!).
  24. Waranle-Warrior, don't lend an ear to Xiinfaniin who's been bit by the clan bug. Somali army has soldiers from many regions of Somalia and as it grows it will become more representative. For example, the Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers in Beledweyne/Hiiraan are from the region. Those in Bay/Bakool are from the region. Those in Jubbooyinka are from the region. And those in Benadir are from the region. And the army are led by men from many different regions. The guy who leads the SNA is not from Benadir region. So, Xiin and the author of this article want to sabotage this government. Their arguement is contrived and phony. It rests on paranoid fear of particular Somali clan. In other words, Xiin et al are still fighting the civil war. They need to let go and move on. xiinfaniin;917854 wrote: So for those with poor comprehension, lifting arms embargo on Somalia needs to be coupled with common sense safeguards and security policies that reflect prevailing mistrust among Somalia's current political stakeholders. But that would be true for Ras Kamboni militia cum Somali National Army (SNA) as it would be true for the SNA in Benadir region. I just don't get what you're arguing for. This is much ado about nothing and another attempted isbaaro for this government. Funny, yesterday it was Qanyar and Yalaxow as the main obsticles for attempts to create a lasting peace and functioning government for Somalia. Today, it is Ilmo Jaberti spearheaded as ever by Rer Boowe and Maandhow. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
