I appreciate this documentary, Constructive Criticism is necessary in order to advance our state. We need to learn from this and the Govt needs to listen carefully what the people are saying. Puntland shouldnt just be magaaloyinka laamiga ku yaal wa inu gaara meel walbo remote tuulo. Why not divide up the police force and sent small contingents to tuuloyinka. Only 500 police would be required to patrol nugaal countryside, bari country side, sool country side, sanaag country side and mudug country side. President Farole should streghten the government institutions siiba kuwa dawlada hoose which are non-existant in remote towns such eyl, baargaal, dhahar and so forth. Please farole wake up. U know as well as I do when war happens its always the country-siders who fight so lets take care of them and provide basic instutions. Why are we providing for IDPS giving them running water before our nomads? Its a crime and needs rectifying immediately

A well deserve win to the Banadiri Team being the No 1 team in Somalia. Also Bari don't stress it sometimes you can't win them all but BARI I must say was the best performing team throughout the tournament which is a good and finally this is a victory for all somali people who came together and played football as 1 nation.

SOMALIA: All to play for in unifying football tournament Photo: Mahamed Ali/IRIN One of the football teams participating in the tournament in Garowe, Puntland NAIROBI, 21 December 2010 (IRIN) - Holding a football tournament with teams from 15 regions of Somalia is an achievement in itself - but the organizers hope it will do more than only bring players together. "The footballers taking part in the tournament have never known a unified Somalia; this is an opportunity for them to interact," Abdirashid Hassan Baki, the deputy president of Somalia's Football Federation (SFF), said. "We hope the tournament will also boost peace and reconciliation in our country." Somalia has been embroiled in conflict since 1990, with more than 1.4 million displaced and 600,000 refugees in neighbouring countries. The UN estimates more than two million Somalis need humanitarian assistance. “The fact that we are even holding this football tournament for the first time since 1987 is in itself an achievement. This, to me, is a miracle and a beginning for peace and reconciliation. This is sport at its best. It reminds me of the ‘ping-pong’ between China and the US [when the US and China started their rapprochement under Richard Nixon]." At least 290 young Somali football players are taking part in the 20-day tournament, which opened on 15 December in Garowe, capital of the autonomous region of Puntland. It is jointly organized by Puntland, northeastern Somalia and the SFF for Somali youths from 15 of Somalia's original 18 regions. Somalia has, over the years, split into three distinct areas. What was the northern region of Somalia is now the self-declared republic of Somaliland, the northeastern regions are now the autonomous regions of Puntland and the south and central are controlled by the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and large parts of it by Islamist Al-Shabab and Hisbul Islam groups. Baki said many of the players came from regions controlled by different groups "but they all allowed them to come and participate". Emotional opening Abdisamad Sheikh Hamud, a footballer representing Nugal region of Puntland, told IRIN the tournament's opening ceremony was very emotional for many players. "There were a lot of people crying, mostly the older people who could remember [a unified] Somalia," Hamud said. "It is the first time for the majority of us to attend anything that brought Somalis together. We all felt like true Somalis. No clans or regions." It is the first time for the majority of us to attend anything that brought Somalis together. We all felt like true Somalis. No clans or regions Hamud said the tournament was an opportunity "to meet young people like us from across Somalia, who we may never have met otherwise. I hope to make lifelong friends." Ahmed Egal Awale, the Puntland deputy minister of sports, said most of the tournament's participants were born after the collapse of the Somali state in 1991. "It is their first experience of an all-Somali affair. Today in Garowe you will see youth from Mogadishu or Baidao, with others from Nugal or Sool. I don’t think they ever thought they would get such an opportunity. "I have no doubt that this will contribute to peace and reconciliation in our country. It is bringing us together. It is a wonderful feeling." Baki of the SFF said many of the youth from south and central Somalia were for the first time playing football without being afraid of shells or bullets - "a new thing for many". ah/mw Theme (s): Conflict, Governance, [This report does not necessarily reflect the views of the United Nations]

Six Russia sentenced pilots released by court of Somaliland 31.12.2010, 02.52 PRETORIA, December 31 (Itar-Tass) - The court of the self-proclaimed state of Somaliland has released six Russian pilots. The SAPA agency reported on Friday that on Thursday they were found guilty of supplying “military equipment” to the neighbouring self-proclaimed country Puntland with which Somaliland is at war, as well as of violation of the airspace of Somaliland. At first they were sentenced to one year in prison, but later the sentence was changed for suspended. The Sarazin International firm that chartered the Antonov An-26 plane with a Russian crew, has denied that it violated the law. According to it there were military uniforms and mines on board. The An-26 was arrested on December 10 at Hargeisa airport (Somaliland). After the detention, Interior Minister of Somaliland Mohamed Abdi Gabose said that the delivery of such goods violates the UN embargo on arms supplies to Somalia. Sarazin International is a private British security firm operating in several African states. According to the company, the cargo was carried to Puntland, where it trains the Coast Guard.

Somalilnad Court Put Charges on the Cargo Plane
Abdirazak_PTL replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Xaji u know us well. The response has been posted already by Garowe-Online and the Puntland response will be following shortly after be prepared for a hell of a fight because your messing with the BIG BOYS now -
Puntland has responded maturely to Somaliland with evidence. All the snm click can do is hoo-rah on with their qowdhan dreams but they will find themselves in a nasty legal battle when you get Puntland back up because lets not kid ourselves were smarter then you and for that matter all somalis and why I say that is very simple. Somalia: Somaliland 'loots' air cargo after plane makes emergency landing 30 Dec 30, 2010 - 11:37:57 AM Authorities in Somalia's unrecognized separatist region of Somaliland have fined a cargo plane, confiscated all materials on board and sentenced the plane's crew to jail terms, Radio Garowe reports. A court in Somaliland capital of Hargeisa made the ruling on Thursday. The plane's six crew members, who are reportedly of Russian origin, were charged with delivering weapons to an enemy. Abdirahman Jama Hayan, the judge at Hargeisa Regional Court, sentenced the six crew members to one-year jail terms. Court documents state that the crew members can buy off their sentence instead of serving the full one-year term. Judge Hayan also fined the six crew members $500 U.S. dollars each, while fining the airplane approximately $4,000 U.S. dollars. The six crew members had a defense attorney named Khadar Mohamed Guled, but it's not clear that the defense attorney could fairly defend his clients in such a highly-charged political case. Plane story A small cargo plane made an emergency landing to refuel at Hargeisa's Egal International Airport on Dec. 10. Somaliland police immediately seized the plane and its eight passengers, but later released two South African journalists. Since Dec. 10, Somaliland authorities have spoken publicly a number of times claiming that the airplane was delivering weapons to Puntland, a self-governing stable state to the west that supports the establishment of a federal Somalia. Officials in Hargeisa have claimed that Puntland is violating the 1992 U.N. arms embargo on Somalia, but Somaliland authorities have failed to produce any evidence that weapons were found on board the plane. Puntland's government has not responded publicly to the plane seizure or Somaliland's accusations about violation of the U.N. arms embargo. However, the plane's manifest states that a number of different items were on board, including: uniforms; boots; video cameras; T-shirts; mosquito sprays; and rat traps. Somaliland President Ahmed Silanyo appointed a committee consisting of five Cabinet ministers to oversee the case. However, confidential sources in Hargeisa tell Garowe Online that the committee members "disagreed" about Somaliland's response, with "hardliners" gaining the upper hand. On Dec. 22, South African newspaper Cape Times reported that the coordinator of the U.N. Monitoring Group on Somalia, Mr. Matt Bryden, traveled to Somaliland at the authority's request to interview the plane's passengers. However, the U.N. Monitoring Group has not issued any report of Mr. Bryden's visit to Somaliland or any violation of the Somalia arms embargo with regard to the seized plane. Furthermore, the Hargeisa Regional Court ruled that the Somaliland government confiscated all materials for government use, which contradicts accusations that the materials was a violation of U.N. arms embargo. Puntland's anti-piracy force On Dec. 1, the Associated Press reported that Saracen International is training a 1,050-strong anti-piracy force in Puntland. The report triggered immediate responses from the U.S. government and the U.N., with mild expressions of concern being voiced. Puntland's government did not respond to any of these reports or public expressions from the U.N. and foreign governments. Saracen International, which is contracted to train Puntland's anti-piracy force, is currently training the force's second batch of recruits. In recent years, the international community has repeatedly blamed Puntland and its government for the rising wave of pirate attacks in the Gulf of Aden waterway that straddles Puntland's northern coast. Puntland officials say that the international community has failed to help Puntland establish a force to fight pirates, adding that Puntland should not be blamed for setting up anti-piracy force in the face of the international community's neglect. Political tensions Somaliland and Puntland have clashed several times since 2002 over control of Sool and Sanaag regions whose inhabitants share kinship ties with Puntland. In Oct. 2007, Somaliland troops seized Las Anod town, which became the epicenter of the Somaliland-Puntland dispute. Puntland authorities have condemned Somaliland's military aggressions as provocative and demanded the withdrawal of Somaliland forces from Las Anod. Insiders say Somaliland authorities are politicizing the airplane story after Puntland officials accused Somaliland's government of funding and arming Al Shabaab insurgents in Galgala hills area of Puntland. In late October, Puntland troops completed a three-month military offensive and seized control over all insurgent strongholds in Galgala area, killing nearly 100 militants. Puntland officials said that 70 Somaliland soldiers were "fighting alongside" Al Shabaab insurgents in Galgala hills area and some Somaliland soldiers were killed in the conflict. Somalia's last effective central government collapsed in 1991 when the country imploded and disintegrated. Al Shabaab insurgents now control most regions in south-central Somalia, while Puntland and Somaliland in the north have remained relatively stable. Puntland supports Somalia's UN-recognized Transitional Federal Government (TFG), which is facing a relentless insurgency since 2007 led by Al Shabaab, listed as a terrorist organization in many countries including the U.S.

Bosaso: Mayor on Eminent Development Projects for city:
Abdirazak_PTL replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Let me picturize all this. Now the suuqyo the mayor is talking about can only be these golis initiaves which is being constructed. Tawakal Investment to create new bank/hotel complex Or the golis initiave to create HQ In the city an 8 story building It cant be these ones because these ones are intended for garowe Garowe Shopping Center 3-5 Stories So those suuqs the mayor is talking about is either the tawakal investment or the 8 storey golis head-quarter. Because other shopping centers have opened like this one below Bus Stop idea was originally stolen from garowe when he went to garowe just yesterday, I bet they told him to install similar ones in Bosaso which is good idea if u ask me The water project for karin and kalabayr is refreshing news. Its good to see where moving the water projects out into the rural areas since the cities are tapped up and no donkey carts needed like hamar lol. I think even the refugee camps are tapped up also from the last massive water project in Bosaso was for the IDPS so its all good now. Idp and Citizen have access to clean running water in all our major cities. The rural towns is going to be mamoth task because we will need to start one by one but inshallah we will get there and all our people no matter where they city or country side have access to clean running water. The road project for bosaso airport road im not sure what he means by hagaajinta. Does he mean upgrading the road system with stop signs and give way signs or does he mean repairing road surfaces. Im not sure but either one is good Finally the 5000 trees are welcome addition more trees the better. It would be yet to aim for installing 5000-10000 trees every year for 5 years annually. We should make it past-time tradition in puntland where its public holiday and its just for tree planting. Good job mayor of bosaso lets just now wait to see you deliver on your promises. -
I am not in favor of tall buildings personally when so much of our land is empty. I believe we need to first fill up the land with small to medium sized buildings and then work our way up. Because towns look crap when there is 2 or 3 tall buildings with nothing surrounding it.

That hotel you posted is simply known as 1st of august hotel because its located in the 1st of august suburb. By the way a back-end picture of the hotel is below Puntland hotels needed to be divided up into 3 catergories. Lavish hotels need to be located in garowe because the guests in garowe will mostly be political guests either from the u.n or other somali regions and even other countries delegates where-as galkayo will require hotels suited to truck drivers who want something relatively cheap. Bosaso hotels is based more for traders who like truckers want something more localized. Examples below are of some of the hotels in Bosaso I know of Some of the Garowes hotes below Some of the Galkayo Hotels I also am aware that Jubba hotel got a face lift recently also. I am aware there is another one of those lavish style hotels being built for the traders which will house banking facilities and also hotel facilities. Tawakal Investment I would say is a bit to lavish but since its also bank and hotel combined which is obviously for convenience sakes for the traders it will properly be huge hit among the traders I think however Garowe still needs 3 more lavish hotels on top of this and that should be enough and im certain when the UN base themselves there they will need to do it.

U mean qof shaati soo gashday oo snm baan conference la galaya? c'mon bro somalidu way is-taqan. I am not concerned about D-block at all. Because D-block wuxu la'eg yahay somalida is-racday. When snm and usc joined forces that when d-block join forces but till then we dont need to because we can handle ourselves by ourselves...Why you would want unity with d-block for? it would be like 15 million vs 3 million somalilander? war hoy your crazy i think You same size as Puntland sadex gobol of mudug, bari, nugal. You unite only when your threatened by larger force or similar sized force not when you are not threatened by small forces in hargeisa. lol sxb somaliaonline bay aad uu hadlan lakin maxamed abdullahi omar hamar joggo ma hadlo, ma is-wedisa? wax garadkagu way og yihin meeshani waxba kama tihid adeer and thats the truth. In somalia your just someone who lives there like the baydhabo folks but you have no power or influence to do nothing and we all know that in somalia we just nice to you because of somalinimo nothing else really and thats not just puntland but also the hamari boys view u this way -

Why Puntland Should Host the 2010 Peace Conference? Editorial
Abdirazak_PTL replied to Abdirazak_PTL's topic in Politics
For those who cannot read or just to lazy to read. This editorial is the puntland argument for holding the somali peace conference in March 2011. That is when the sharif mandate expires. Our argument in short is the following reasons why we believe puntland should hold the somalia peace conference. 1. Puntland is state thats based upon unifying Somalia. Our constitution states clearly that Puntland believes in 1 Somalia. This fact is agreed upon by 95% of somalis from kismayo up untill burco. The clear majority. Somalia Solution will come from the majority of people. Thats just reality. 2. Puntland Not only through constitution and words believe in Somalia unity, We display our somaliness by hosting over a million non puntlanders in our borders. We provide health, education, sanitation and all the basics in life to these people some have even become well known business men and traders in our state. They are treated equally under the law like every citizen. There have been instances where the IDP population have been targetted however like all emerging states Puntland is not perfect, But it's intention is clearly perfect. 3. Puntland system is free speech for all. We do not even claim to be democracy yet the basics of democracy are evidently clear in our state. For example we allow a somalilander to built a hotel in Bosaso named "Somaliland Hotel" Yet noone attacks him, his family or his property and he is safe among us. He even still enjoys his free speech. Can we claim any other city in Somalia shows such Somali Patriotism by allowing his fellow somali to express his opinion in a violent free environment without persecution? No we cannot 4. Puntland is secure state. Where all somalis live freely in peace. Puntland not only is secure and safe state but we proven our military capabilities can defend our state against islamist threats and also other clan based movements in baraxley and galgala. Another example to solidify puntland security is the fact foreign companies invest into puntland like range resources 5. Puntland Brings together northern and southern tribes through language and culture. It's well known that Puntlanders from galkayo till bosaso can not only get along with hargeisa clans-men but also hamari clans-men. For example look at cade muse? truly can fit in with the hamari clan where-as abdullahi yusuf would truly fit in with the hargeisa boys. Puntland is the state that brings together north and south. Its the bridge 6. Puntland has matured greatly over the past 12 years. For example former war criminals like abdi-qeyb did are allowed to come to carmo academy and train police officers. Where former somaliland warlords have actually gotten off at puntland airports like bosaso yet noone says a word to them not because they are stronger then us but because we dont want to re-hash old wounds and want to think for the future of somali people rather then think about our clans-men death in the 80's and 90's. 7. Finally we believe all these arguments above has proven to ourselves and also our fellow somalis that puntland is ready to host the 2011 somalia peace conference and if you believe that we cannot host it please bring us another city that can out-class puntland and we would be more then happy to discuss 3. -

Qodax, there is even hotel in bosaso called somaliland hotel and noone says a word to him? Sxb dadkeenu wa iska cosmopolitan and we want peace for all somalis. Sxb sadex events ba lagu gabtay garowe oo kuligodo guul dhamaday, so this proves our track-record. Puntland position on politics wa midnimo which 95% of somalis are all share from kismayo to burco. Why shouldn't puntland hold the conference? Tell me. When abdi-qeybdid can come freely to carmo academy, doesnt this tell you something? when ppl who took part in xasuuqa bariga in the 80s they were mainly from hargeisa and yet they are freely allowed in our state and noone harms them. Wake up Puntland has proven itself to somalis that is indeed a mature state that is viable option to hold somalia peace conference -
