  3. Benefits From the Life and Works of Imam Ahmad Shaykh Saalih ibn 'Abdil-'Azeez Aalish-Shayk (part 1) The praise is for Allaah, the One who keeps a group of scholars available during the times when there is no messenger, scholars who bring those who have strayed back to the Guidance, curing their blindness and bringing them back to life using Allaah's Book. For how many have they brought back to life from those killed by Iblees? And how many strayed and then were guided by the scholars? What great effects they have on the people! And how filthy are the effects of the people on them! They expel from the Religion of Allaah the perversions of the people of falsehood, the twisted explanations of the ignoramuses, and the plagiarism of those who have strayed, those who bear the flags of innovation and dispute over the Book of Allaah. I praise Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, and I thank Him. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah, and that He is alone without any partners, and I further testify that Muhammad is His Servant and Messenger, His pure one, His chosen friend. May Allaah raise his rank and the rank of all his family members and Companions, and may He grant them an abundance of peace. To proceed: I ask Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, that He grants me and all of you beneficial knowledge, righteous actions, and submissive hearts. O Allaah! Teach us what will benefit us, and benefit us by what you teach us, and increase us in knowledge, good deeds, guidance, and adherence to the Sunnah! Hear our call, as You are the Most Merciful One! Dear brothers, This lecture has been entitled From the Fountains of Imam Ahmad. What is intended from this title is that Imam Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal, the one born in the year 164, the one who passed away in the year 241, was described as being like water that flowed from a spring. Like the spring that a thirsty person goes to in order to quench his thirst, he was like the spring that those who have been overcome by sins go in order to cleanse their souls. So all kinds of people used to go to him to quench their thirsts, and they would all be able to fulfill their various needs by going to him. The people have agreed that Imam Ahmad was an Imam of guidance, the very head of the Imams of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah. They have also agreed that loving him and studying his history is an indication of someone's love for those who studied the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam). The people of the past were tested regarding their love for Imam Ahmad. Whoever loved him was considered someone on the Sunnah; whoever spoke ill of him was someone of innovation and misguidance. This is not something strange, since the life story of Imam Ahmad, from his earliest years to the end of his life, is the history of a companion of the Sunnah, someone who followed the Sunnah devoutly. His is the history of an Imam, a scholar of Hadeeth and Fiqh, a person of knowledge who spent his days and nights in acts of obedience worshipping Allaah. Dedicating One's Youth to Worship Since his childhood, Imam Ahmad (may Allaah have Mercy on him) could be seen with signs of nusuk on him. Ma'roof Al-Karkhee (may Allaah have Mercy on him) said, "I saw Ahmad ibn Hanbal when he was a young boy, and he had signs of nusuk on him. I used to hear him making statements that were full of benefit." This statement describes how he was upon guidance even as a young boy. He used to be seen with signs of nusuk on him. What is meant by nusuk is worship and acts of obedience. The effects of worship and obedience are not only physical ones seen in the appearance and dress, but their effects are also found in one's speech, manners, in the acts of worship and obedience themselves, and in one's preference for the next life over this one. Imam Ahmad said about his own self, "I did not marry until after I reached 40 years of age." His companions said that this was because he used to be busy traveling to seek knowledge before that. He went to Makkah, and from there to San'aa'. There is a story about this trip: He set out with his companion, Yahyaa ibn Ma'een, for Hajj. He said to Yahyaa, "When I finish Hajj, verily I am going to Yemen to meet the scholar of Yemen, the scholar of Hadeeth, 'Abdur-Razzaaq ibn Hammaam As-San'aanee." As-San'aanee died in the year 210 after Hijrah. When they reached Makkah, they found that 'Abdur-Razzaaq was making Hajj that year as well. So Yahyaa knew who he was and met him. He saw him going around the Ka'bah, and since he knew him, he went and greeted him. Yahyaa said to 'Abdur-Razzaaq, and they knew each other, "This is Ahmad ibn Hanbal" So 'Abdur-Razzaaq became happy about this and said, "It has reached us that he is a person who has a lot of goodness." When they prayed their two rak'ahs after making tawaaf, Yahyaa said to Imam Ahmad, "Ahmad, our provisions for the journey to San'aa' have been used. And here is 'Abdur-Razzaaq, so let us stay with him so we can take some narrations from him." Ahmad said to Yahyaa ibn Ma'een, "My intention is still present, and I will not oppose it. So I will continue on to San'aa'." This shows the effects of his commitment to the hardships of seeking knowledge. A trip to San'aa' in that time was not made in cars or airplanes or the likes, rather it was only made with great hardships, the realities of which can not be described. Ma'roof said, "I saw Ahmad ibn Hanbal when he was a young boy and he had signs of nusuk on him." In reality, this is what we should see in our children, that they work hard to correct themselves in their youth, in their early years. Because at this, if they do not build upon this foundation with what is correct, with acts of worship and obedience, then it will be very difficulty after that, except for those whom Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, excludes. Whoever holds to His Religion in his youth, firmness will return to him. Someone being devout or obedient is not just a claim or a verbal ascription to something, nor is it something seen only from the outside. Rather devoutness in the Religion entails one taking on serious rituals, he must worship, and he must be obedient. This leads us to the story when Imam Ahmad once hosted one of his students in Hadeeth, 'Abdus-Samad ibn Sulaymaan. When he was hosting him in his house, and it came time to sleep, he brought him some water to make wudhoo' from or for general use. Then he went to sleep. When the morning came, Imam Ahmad saw that all of the water was still there, so he asked about it. 'Abdus-Samad replied, "I did not use the water." Imam Ahmad said, "A student of the narrations who does not do anything at night?!" He meant, "All the way to the morning, you did not pray in the night?! You did not worship!? You did not even pray two rak'ahs?!" 'Abdus-Samad replied, "Verily I am a traveler." He said, "Even as a traveler!" Meaning, "Where is the witr? Where is the prayer?" So without a doubt, if this was important in that day and time for cultivating one's soul and getting set in the proper direction, then we are in more need of it today. This is the case especially with the youth who seek knowledge, or those holding tight to their guidance, or those who display the effects of prayer, or those who are keen in doing good deeds. One must keep his soul tied to some acts of worship. No doubt, one must keep his soul tied to some acts of obedience. If you force the soul to be obedient, it will become obedient. If you abandon it, then it will be a soul that gravitates toward wrongdoing. It has been related that the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said: "Whoever shows enduring patience, Allaah will make him firm upon patience. Whoever seeks knowledge, Allaah will teach him. Whoever hunts for good, he will be given it. Whoever expects evil, he will be made to fall into it." [1] Therefore, this description of Imam Ahmad proves that he had an upbringing based on obedience to Allaah and acts of worship, so much so that he used to force his soul to shun many worldly things and to take on great hardships. The result of this was that he established his soul firmly upon obedience to Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted. Speaking Only About Beneficial Matters Aboo Daawood Sulaymaan ibn Ash'ath, the author of Sunan Abee Daawood, was a student of Imam Ahmad who related many issues from him, issues that are published today. He said, describing the Imam, "I have not seen anyone like Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal He never used to talk about the things that the people talk loosely about from the worldly affairs, but if some affair of knowledge was mentioned, he would talk." To repeat the quote, "I have not seen anyone like Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal He never used to talk about the things that the people talk loosely about from the worldly affairs, but if some affair of knowledge was mentioned, he would talk." This attribute is certainly an attribute of the great Imams of the most pious people, those who sternly dedicate their lives to what benefit the people. The one who speaks about every affair does not have the noble silence of the people of knowledge, nor the silence of the people of righteousness. So therefore, a righteous person whose heart is attached to the Next Life should be known by his silence when he does not speak, and he should be known by his speech when he talks. His speech is only about good things, and he keeps silent of evil affairs, as Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, says [2]: ( There is no good in most of their private gatherings, except for those who order the people to give charity or order other acts of kindness, or those who mend broken ties between people ) Imam Ahmad used to sit with his brothers occasionally, and sometimes with his companions and students. He would also mix with the common people as well. They would talk about a number of affairs. But Imam Ahmad would only speak if there was something beneficial to be said. The benefit could be his teaching the people or ordering them with righteousness. They said, "If some affair of knowledge was mentioned, he would talk." In reality, this concept has been put to the test. The heart is not able to contain too many things, too many conflicting things inside a person's character. So it is binding on the student of knowledge to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to knowledge, first and foremost. He must stay away from vain talk and wasting his time. If he contemplates something, then he contemplates over some issue related to knowledge. If he speaks, then he speaks about knowledge. This will cause his life to take the task of seeking knowledge head-on, and it will give him a strong desire to study. As a result of this, the student's speech will differ from the speech of other people. Why? That is because the student speaks the language of the people of knowledge. He lives with the Companions and their students. He lives with Maalik, Ash-Shaafi'ee, Ahmad, and Sufyaan. He lives with Al-Bukhaaree and the Imams like Ibn Khuzaymah and Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. He lives with the Imams of Islaam. He speaks with their words as he discusses issues with them. He is immersed in their oceans of knowledge. Hearing everything that the people talk about, and then engaging in that talk with them, and then reading things from just anyone and passing it on, all of this has an effect on the heart of the Muslim in general, specifically it has a bigger effect on the heart of the student of knowledge. This means that a person must make a mental note to himself that he must not allow his heart to be receptive to every single thing. Rather he must define its course and clarify his methodology within himself, and then he takes that path. And the greatest methodology is that of the inheritors of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam), those who he spoke about, saying: "Verily the prophets do not leave behind dirhams or deenaars, rather they leave behind knowledge. So whoever receives some of it, verily he has received an expansive treasure." [3] What a great accomplishment it is for a man to contemplate about his Religion, about knowledge, about that which brings him benefit! And when he speaks, he only speaks about an issue that will benefit him in his Religion, like ordering righteousness, commanding the people to give charity, teaching, learning, and the likes. Even in his everyday conversations, his desire for knowledge is evident. A man is raised in rank when he harnesses his eagerness for things. The soul is eager for many different things, so do not let it go to whatever it craves, force it to go after the things that Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, has sought from you. Living in Fear of Allaah Al-Marwoodee was one of Imam Ahmad's companions and students, and he relayed many issues from him. He said to Imam Ahmad, "O Abaa 'Abdilllaah! There are so many people that call on you!" He looked at him and said, "I fear this may be something that gradually leads me to something evil." His student said to him, and he was truthful in what he said, "O Abaa 'Abdillaah! There are so many people that call on you!" He replied, "I fear this may be something that gradually leads me to something evil." This kind of statement can only come from a heart that fears Allaah and is fearful of meeting Him. It can only come from one who knows that the heart changes states. It can only come from someone who knows that this worldly life is nothing, and that the Next Life is the reality. Most of us, moreover all of us, except those whom Allaah has exempted, if it was mentioned to us that the people are praising us, or that the people are calling on us, we would be happy and cheerful, perhaps we would even be delighted with ourselves. So Imam Ahmad said, remedying his soul, "I fear this may be something that gradually leads me to something evil." The statement, "I fear," shows that his heart had combined hope and fear, that he had hoped, but was also afraid. When he heard something related to a reward for his work, he said, "I fear this may be something that gradually leads me to something evil." He meant, "Verily, Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, may be gradually leading me into a punishment by this, testing me to see if I am delighted with myself or not. Maybe Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, is gradually leading me to a punishment," as our Lord Himself, the Mighty and Exalted, describes how he gradually punishes some people [4]: ( And we will punish them gradually from places they know not, so leave them to Me! Verily My Plan is strong! ) So they were destroyed. Therefore, this is what is binding on the heart of the person of tawheed, the believer, that it always remains in fear. These days, the talks about the meaning of hope, they are… OK. But the people have gone overboard with it, to the point that many people rely on their hope in Allaah so much so that they have lost any fear of Allaah, they rarely fear Him. Everyone is hoping! The rewards for good deeds are mentioned, along with the rewards for obedience. Some are working, some making 'umrah, others are praying, some are reciting, etc. All of this is from the understanding of hope. But where is the fear? Where is the fear of Al-Jaleel, the Mighty and Exalted, may His Names be exalted? It is Allaah who described His Angels as being His Servants, and that they are not overburdened. Even their breathing glorifies Allaah, their actions are all actions of obedience, as the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) said: "The sky is full of sounds, and it should be. There is no space the width of four fingers except that there is an angel in it standing, bowing, or prostrating." [5] All of this, while Allaah describes His Angels [6]: ( They fear their Lord from above them, and they do as they are ordered ) So let every one of us examine our own selves in regards to this statement of Imam Ahmad. Where is the fear of Allaah in our hearts? We have neglected obligations, and we all know our own selves, so where is the fear? We have fallen into sins, while Allaah has full knowledge of them, so where is the fear? We have neglected the rights of others, so where is the fear? We have neglected the rights of our believing brothers, by backbiting and slandering them, by jealousy and envy, and by oppression, so where is the fear of Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted? Let every one of us motivate our own selves to have fear in our actions! For verily fear will cause a heart to have humility, submissiveness, and an eagerness to prepare for the meeting with Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted. This is indeed a great statement, the one said by Imam Ahmad in response to his student's remark about how many people call on him, "I fear this may be something that gradually leads me to something evil." May Allaah have Mercy on him, for what great vision he had! His was a great affair! In most of the gatherings that Imam Ahmad attended, he would sit with his head between his knees. It was said that this was the position of a person of humility, one who contemplates about his own self and his future, while remaining seated in a posture that a person can not become haughty by it, nor seek to be seen by it. When death approached Imam Ahmad, the doctor saw the excessive amount of blood in his urine and said, "This does not happen except due to a fearful heart." He meant that the time of death had caused him to reach that state. Recognizing the Position of the Scholars From his other noteworthy sayings, may Allaah have Mercy on him, elevate his and our positions, and reward him with the best reward, the most plentiful and loftiest one, "Whatever the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah have detested, then it is evil." He said (repeating), "Whatever the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah have detested, then it is evil." He meant that the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah are to be referred to in affairs of what is to be considered evil and what is not. So whatever the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah have detested in the issues of 'aqeedah, then it is evil. Whatever the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah have detested with regards to manners, then it is evil. Whatever the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah have detested in affairs of ordering righteousness and forbidding evil, then it is evil. This means that a man must return to the scholars of the Sunnah if he wants to know about the affairs of the Sunnah, about the proper understanding of righteousness and evil. So whatever the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah have detested, then it is an evil thing, the evil of which we have no doubt in. This is indeed a great lesson from Imam Ahmad for every Muslim, that he must follow and take guidance from the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah, those who have great concern for the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam). This goes for all aspects of tawheed, as well as acts of worship, business transactions, manners, education, work, and all dealings between people in the society. You must refer to the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah in these affairs. This will free your heart from your desires. This will cause your heart to be detached from what your intellect likes and dislikes. Therefore it is binding for us to be followers, for us to return often to the people of knowledge, to the people of the Sunnah for religious rulings. For whatever the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah detest, then it is an evil thing. That means that you do not classify things as being evil according to your own opinion, nor do you get to know affairs by way of your opinions, rather you must refer to the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah regarding the current and future affairs. This is something that there is no doubt about, since the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah are the inheritors of the prophets and the guides to the Sharee'ah. They are the ones that Imam Ahmad spoke of in the introduction to his book, "The praise is for Allaah, the One who keeps a group of scholars available during the times when there is no messenger, scholars who bring those who have strayed back to the Guidance, curing their blindness and bringing them back to life using Allaah's Book." Therefore, they are the ones we refer to. The affairs are not about, "Is this a bad thing or not? Should I reject it or not? Should I respond or not? Is this correct or not?" These things must not come from a person's independent judgments from his own opinions, rather he must refer these matters back to the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah. Why? That is because these things are affairs of 'aqeedah, affairs of the Religion. Everyone claims that they understand the affair of enjoining good and forbidding evil. The Khawaarij claimed it, and thus stood up against the Imams. The Mu'tazilah claimed it, and thus viewed the opposition of the Imams as being a good thing. Like them, many groups claimed to be enjoining good and forbidding evil, and thus stood up against the Imams. However, the affair is to be according to the judgment of the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah, and whatever they have classified as being an evil thing
  4. I hear a lot of people say you can't judge my imaan from the clothes that I wear, my heart is pure!. Imaan brothers is to attest with the tongue, do with the limbs, and certainity(yaqiin) in the hearts. The answer to those people is if your heart is indeed pure, then it would not flagrantly disobey allah. The heart is like a king , and the limbs are its soldiers. If the king is good , he orders his soldiers only good! Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi, Such a sound understanding!Jazakallahu khair "It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allâh. 10. Innalhamdalillah, the Sharia(islam) is complete and perfect in all in the every sense of the word. Anything that is lacks then know, may Allah have mercy on you, that there is no Good in it, even though the People may perceive as such. There is nothing good in Demo. except that Islam encompasses it, likewise there is nothing wicked and destructive in demo CRAP cy except that islam is free from it! "Qul! Do you know better than Allah?" (2:140).
  11. ^^^ Salamu alaykum When I initially examined the words of Brother NUR I feared people would quote him on this. And certainly I do not have any reservations concerning its accuracy, since amongst us (ie Muslims) are the Juhalaa(the ignorant ones) who speak zealously of matters which is beyond their comprehension, however when was Islam ever free from this? Has this not always been the case? But unlike any other Group such as the sufies, ikhwanis, HT...ect The salafi da’wah has scholars who call to the path of Allah with wisdom and sound knowledge, so whatever fire these people ignited they can to be quenched with their tapes and books, which are (Alhamdulillah) translated, printed and dispatched all over the word. and All Success lies with Allah
  12. Brother Nur, Allahu Zaak Khair ya Akhil Karim Indeed story which makes us reflect read this one inshallah; "What will I say to Him?!" -------------------------- . . A man known as Abu Abd-Allah said: I don't know how to explain an experience I lived through a while ago, that changed my whole life routine. The truth is that I would never have decided to reveal it if it weren't for the fact that I felt a responsibility towards Allah (The Glorious), as a warning for the young men who disobey Allah, and as a warning for the young women who follow a fake dream or fantasy called "love". . . We were 3 friends, nothing grouped us together but disobedience and misguidance. No, actually we were 4, the Shaytan was the 4th. We used to go hunting down beautiful girls, and lure them with our sweet talk to far away farms. There they would be surprised that we have turned into foxes with no sympathy, no feelings whatsoever no matter what they said or did to make us reconsider. We were cold hearted, and had no feelings or any sense of shame. That is how we spent our days and nights; in the farms, camps, cars, and on the shore. Until the day that I will never forget came. We went as usual to the farm, everything was ready. Each one of us had his prey, the damned drink (i.e., alcohol), but we forgot one thing, and it was the food. . . So after a while, one of my friends went to buy food for supper with his car. It was almost 6 p.m. when he left. Hours passed without him returning, so at 10 p.m. I became worried that something happened to him. So I went with my car looking for him. And on the way, I saw some flames of fires spreading on the sides of the road. When I reached, I was shocked to see that it was my friend's car, with the fire eating it up while it was flipped on one of its sides. . . I ran like crazy, trying to free my friend from his burning car. I was alarmed to see that half his body was black like charcoal, but he was still alive. So I carried him and placed him on the floor, and after a minute he opened his eyes and said: "The fire! The fire!" So I decided to take him to my car and rush with him to the hospital. But he sobbed: "There's no use, I won't reach it." . . Tears overcame me as I was watching my friend to die in front of me! Then he stunned me by yelling: "What will I say to Him?! What will I say to Him?!" Dumbfounded, I looked at him and asked: "Who?" He replied with a distant voice: "Allah". I felt fear creep all over my body and I began to shake. Then suddenly he let out an echoing scream, and he took in his last breath. . . The days passed, but the image of my friend being eaten up by the fire, and him yelling "What will I say to Him?! What will I say to Him?!" never left my mind. I found myself asking "And what will I say to him?!" And all those who disobey Allah, should ask themselves: "What will I say to Him?" . . My eyes overflowed with tears and I felt an odd compassionate feeling I never felt before. At that same moment, I heard the Mo'athen (the person who calls the Athan -Call to Prayer- ) call for Salat Al-Fajr (Morning Prayer) "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar" (Allah is Great, Allah is Great) "Hayya 'Ala Al-Salah" (Come to Salah). I felt that it was a call directed to me personally. Telling me to close the curtains on the dark years of my life, and calling me to the straight path of guidance and obedience. . . I washed up, made Wudu', and cleansed my self from the sin I drowned in since years, and I prayed. Since that day, I haven't missed 1 fardh. I became a new person. . . Subhan Allah, the One who changes people from one state to another. . . . . Some of the scholars of the past said, "True knowledge is to know one's ignorance." Only when a person realizes what he does NOT know, will he appreciate how little he DOES know.
  13. al-Hamdu-Lillaahi Rabbil-'Aalameen was-Salaatu was-Salaamu 'alaa Ashrafil-Anbiyaa’e wal-Mursaleen, wa ba'd Brother baarakallahu feek, Your wrote †but how does this come into effect by the salafi movement? what is the difference between shaafici and salaafi dacwaah?†Da’wah Salafiyah ( the call to the madhab of the Salaf us Salix) is essentially inviting and calling every muslim to leave off every group, parties and Thoughts while requesting them adhere to the Quran and Sunnah construed by the Salaf Us Salih. Unfortunately the Ummah of Mohammad(salalahu alayhi wa salam) has adopted this ill-system of confining Islam into 4 school of Thought(4 madhab). A principal that is neither furnished by the Noble Qu’ran, the Sunnah of the nabi(salalahu alayhi wa salam) nor from the 4 Imams. But before I touch upon the difference between the madhab of imam Shafee’e and the salafi da’wah, Few questions need to be addressed; 1) why do u follow the Madhab of Imam Shafee’e? 2) did Allah command you? 3) Did Nabi command you? 4) Did imam Shafee’ ask the ummah to make him one of the Madhabs? These vital questions are incredibly significant since “NO†Muslim should practice Islam without Knowledge. Imam shaf’ee was a distinguished imam from the Time of the Salaf us SaliX, and like any Other Imam from the salaf, The “salafies†adore him. When we say†Follow the Kitab and Sunnah upon the Understanding of the Salaf us SaliX†it would include the imam, the Shaykh, the fountain of knowledge; Imam Shafi’ee(rahimullah). However our objection essentially lies with the muslims who adhere to a particular madhab with the exclusion of other imams. Imam Shaf’ee(rahimullah) was not a Nabi nor a companion, so he may have erred on issues where imam Ahmed was correct on, and he may have been correct on issues where imam Abu Hanifah erred on, depending on the hadiths that may have reached them... The Salafi Da’wah in essence calls to the madhab of the salaf, who are numerous, far exceeding 4. we call you to drink from the springs of the Illustrious scholars of Hadeeth,Fiq,tafsir, and other issues relating to islam, such as Sufyan At-thwari, the great Imam from Egypt, Sa’d bin Layth, Imam Fudayl ibn Iyaad, Sufyan ibn ‘Uyayna, Ibn al-Mubarak, Imam Abu Abdur-rahman Awza’ee, and their likes.(may Allah raise their ranks) We admonish those who seek to segregate the imams of the Salaf and those who seek islamic revival and take a path other then the salaf , those who misconstrue the Text and not refer back the salaf, we wish they would desist for the sake of the Ummah. “can anyone enlighten me about salaafi dacwaah, for their isn't much non-arabic sources of information for me to turn to. “ May Allah reward you with good I invite you to visit our webpage; www.salaf.dk authenticated info on salafiyah. We do not call you to join any group nor do we ask for your pledge of allegiance. Every issue of aqeedah (creed), ibaadah (worship) or manhaj (methodology) which the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah has not provided a text for and upon which the Companions never agreed upon is falsehood, vain and innovated. Affirming what is established in the Book and the Authentic Sunnah in every issue of the issues of aqeedah and not resorting to ta’weel (figurative interpolation) with respect to any of it and not delving into argumentation regarding it in that for which there is no place for the intellect. Not arguing with the People of Innovations and Desires, or sitting with them, listening to their words or presenting any of their doubts (to others). The Prophetic Manhaj (methodology) which is found in the Qur’aan, the Saheeh compilations of Bukhaaree and Muslim and the remaining books of the Sunnah and the sayings and actions of the Salaf us-Saalih, not the various new and pretentious manaahij (methodologies). Acquainting the Muslims of their true religion and calling them to act in accordance with its teachings and rulings and to adorn themselves with its excellencies and its noble manners - which will guarantee for them the pleasure of Allaah and which will bring into reality both happiness and glory. Warning the Muslims from Shirk (associating partners with Allaah) in all its different manifestations, and from innovations, all strange and false thoughts and rejected and fabricated hadeeth - all of which have mutilated the beauty of Islaam and have prevented the advancement and progress of the Muslims. Eagerness for bringing about the Jamaa’ah of the Muslims and uniting their ranks and words upon the truth and in the truth. And these multiplicities of contemporary groups and parties have divided the Muslims and have mutilated the beauty of Islaam. We love every Muslim to the extent of what he possess of obedience, following (of the Sunnah) and we hate him to the extent of what he possess of disobedience and opposition (to the Sunnah). And we love the one who aids the Sunnah and its people and we hate the one who helps Innovation and its people. We love the Companions of the Messenger of Allaah (sas) and we detest everyone who speaks ill about them. And when you see a man speaking bad about a single one of the Companions of Allaah’s Messenger (sas), then know that he is a Zindeeq (heretic). We believe that the Qur’aan is the Speech of Allaah, it is not created and we do not declare anyone from the people of the qiblah to be a disbeliever on account of a sin that he committed - so long as he does not declare it to be permissible. We reject those who divide the religion into the categories of a) trivial and b) important matters, and we know that this is a destructive call. And we reject those who desert the knowledge of the Sunnah, who abandon acting by it and who abandon separating what is authentic from what is inauthentic. Tasfiyyah (purification of the religion in terms of aqeedah and ibaadah) and Tarbiyah (nurturing and cultivation upon the pure religion) upon the Straight Prophetic Methodology and the guiding understanding of the Salaf. Refuting every opponent (to the Sunnah) whether he is a Muslim or other than that - whatever level his slip or mistake might be, regardless of whether his opposition to the truth occurred deliberately or as an error - whatever methodology he may ascribe to - with whatever is possible from the use of evidences - so that this Noble Religion retains its purity and innocence and so that the people can drink from it, certain of its sweet taste. Speaking the truth not fearing the criticism of those who blame and rebuke those holding on to the Sunnah with their molar teeth amidst all the controversies and differences, till the affair of Allaah is established. Here is a list of few of the Noble Mashaykh who we hold in high esteem Few of our Scholars
  14. ^^^ heheh maybe, Allahu Alim, but remember this kids these are not the same eagles. Man I never looked forward to any SuperBowl other then this...maybe when the 49ers won the big one back in '94
  15. ^^ salamu alaykum are u referring to me walaal? as i have not called anyone "specifically" Non-muslim!!
  16. For some Ibn Tamiyya was a great scholar for most of the sunni schools of thought he was an innovator. Here is an article about Ibn Tamiyya according to ahlulsunna point of view. Bismillah, innalhamdalillah, Sister Sakina, May Allah reward you with good Can you please provide us with an illustration as to why these shaykhs Hold Ibn Taymiyyah as an innovator. In other words, what has he precisely invented? Perhaps we can make this a meaningful discussion, wallahu ‘alim, and inshallah will we can touch upon Shaykh Mohammad some other time!
  17. Bismillah, Innalhamdalillah, Bro Baashee, baarakallahu feek, it was once said," May Allaah have mercy upon you! Know that the Sunnah is not a matter of analogies or reasoning with examples, and desires are not to be followed in it. Rather, it is just a case of affirming the narrations from Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam), without asking how, or saying: 'Why?' or 'How?'(imam Barbaharee 4th cent.) the methodology of the people of the Sunnah is that the intellect does not compel something pon a person, nor does it raise something from him. It does not determine something to be permissible or impermissible for him, nor something to be good or bad.. The foundation of the Religion is following (al-Ittibaa') and the intellect is subservient.' So if the foundation of the Religion was upon the intellect, the creation would have been in no need of Revelation, nor of Prophets, and the meaning of commanding and prohibiting would be false, and whoever wished could have said whatever he wished. Indeed the philosophers(ahlul kaalam), Sufies, and their likes, make their intellects callers to Allaah, and they take them at the level of Messengers concerning what is between them. But the people of the Sunnah, stop at where the messenger and the companions stop, They do not speak of matters they spoke not off. They remain silent of that which they(ie companions) were silent off. OUr noble Shaykh, Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (d.728H) (rahimahu Allah) said, "Whoever looks into the words of the famous Imaams from the Salaf concerning this topic will come to know that they were the most accurate in discernment regarding this topic, due to authentic texts and unadulterated intellects. He will see that their statements are established upon the texts and the intellect. Due to this, they were united, not differing, established, not deficient. Those who opposed the Salaf and the imaams did not understand the reality of their statements. So they did not know the reality of the texts and the intellects, so they started to go in different directions and they began to differ about the Book, so they became opponents of the Book . Indeed Allaah the Exalted said," "And verily, those who disputed as regards the Book are in extreme dissension."(2:176)
  18. ^^^ jazakallahu khair, Oh Allah With your lofty attributes Reward wiilo with a Good reward. Ameen Bismillah, Innalhamdulillah, this moved me, And all success lies with Allah Jalla wa 'ala THE ADVICE OF ALI(ra): Kumayl ibn Ziyaad said, "Alee ibn Abee Taalib (radiallaaho ta'ala anha) took me by my hand and brought me out in the direction of the desert. Once we had traveled into the desert, he sat down, took a deep breath and then said: 'O Kumayl ibn Ziyaad! The hearts are receptacles, so the best of them are the most attentive. Memorise what I am about to say to you. The people are of three categories: 1) The upright Scholar, 2) the one seeking knowledge upon the path of salvation, 3) and the hooligan type who follow anyone who cries out, turning whichever way the wind blows. This last category has NOT been illuminated by the light of knowledge and they have NOT fallen back upon the support that offers safety, strength and security. Knowledge is better than wealth, for knowledge guards you while you have to guard wealth. Knowledge increases the actions, but wealth gradually decreases as it is spent. And the love of the scholar is Deen - it being professed through this act of love. Knowledge secures obediance for the scholar during his life and praise after his death. But the benefit of wealth stops once it finishes. The people who hoard wealth are [in reality] dead while they live their lives. However the scholars remain as long as time remains - for their bodies may no longer be present, but their examples are found in the hearts. Look! Indeed here - [and he pointed to his chest with his hand] - there is knowledge! If only I could find for it people who will carry it! But indeed I have befallen upon those who comprehend quickly but are not trustworthy. They use the Deen as a tool for [obtaining] the Dunyaa, using the proofs of Allaah AGAINST His Book and using His favours to OVERCOME His servants. Or else I have befallen upon those who are docile in their obediance to the people of the Truth. They have no insight or understanding in their lives, with doubt piercing into their hearts with the first attack of the uncertainty - they are neither this way nor that. [Do they not know where the Truth is? If someone said to one of them that he had made an error - when he had indeed made an error - then he would not realise, because such a person is infatuated by his own ignorance of the reality of the matter. Hence such a person is a trial for the people. Indeed, the one who is better than all of these is the one to whom Allaah has given knowledge of the Deen. And if a man does not know his religion, then this is enough of a proof that he is ignorant]. Or else such a person desires lusts and delights, being compliant to desires or tempted by collecting wealth and hoarding it. Those two [types of people] are not among those who call the people to Deen, but they are more like the freely grazing livestock. Thus knowledge dies with the death of its carriers. By Allaah, indeed the earth will not be devoid of one who stands up for Allaah with proof, in order that Allaah's proofs and clear arguments do not become obsolete. These people are few in number, but in Allaah's estimation, they are greater and more important. It is through them that Allaah pushes His proofs, until they take these proofs to others who are like them, and then plant [these proofs] into the hearts of such people. Knowledge has entered these great people upon its true reality. Hence they find SOFT what the ones who live in affluence would find rugged and difficult, and they are accustomed to that which the ignorant are adverse to, for they may physically be companions of this world, but their souls are attached to the higher objective. These are the Khulafaa appointed by Allaah in His lands and they are the ones who call to His Deen. There it is! How I long to catch sight of them! And I ask Allaah's forgiveness for me and for you. Now you may get up if you wish'." From the Book 'Words of Advice from the Salaf' Compiled by Shaykh Saleem al-Hilaalee Translated by Aboo 'Abdullaah as-Sayalaanee
  19. Bismillah, Innalhamdalillah This is a short overview of one of the greatest man to ever walk on earth, The demolisher of the foundation and appalling beliefs of the heretics and innovators, the people of desires, the filty diseased Sufies(may Allah guide them back to Islam) and their Gods, Ahlul-Kaalam! Ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee said , "the shaykh of our shaykhs, al-Haafidh Abu al-Yu`maree (ibn Sayyid an-Naas) said in his biography of ibn Taymiyyah: ‘al-Mizzi encouraged me to express my opinion on Shaykh al-Islaam Taqi ad-Deen. I found him to be from those who had acquired a fortunate of knowledge in the sciences that he had. He used to completely memorise and implement the Sunan and Aathaar (narrations). Should he speak about tafseer then he would carry its flag, and should he pass a fatwa in fiqh then he knew its limits. Should he speak about a hadeeth then he was the companion of its knowledge and fully cognisant of its narrations. Should he give a lecture on Religions and Sects then none was seen who was more comprehensive or meticulous than he, he surpassed his contemporaries in every science, and you would not see one like him, and his own eye did not see one like himself. He used to speak on tafseer and a large number of people would attend his gatherings, and an agreeable number would return (having drunk) from his sweet, rich ocean. It continued in this way until the sickness of envy crept (into the hearts) of the people of his city. The people given to faultfinding gathered together and picked out anything that could be disapproved of in his beliefs, and they memorised certain of his statements with respect to this. They undermined him due to this and laid traps for him by which they could declare him to be an innovator. They thought that he had left their way, and split off from their sect. So they argued with him, and he with them, and some of them cut relations with him, and he with them. Then he argued with another group who was attributed to the Fuqaraa (a group of the Sufis) who thought that they were on the minute details of the inner reality and upon its truth. And he exposed these Orders…. Then this reached the first group and they sought help from those who cut relations with him and harboured malice towards him. So they took the matter to the rulers, each of them having decided that he was a disbeliever. And they prepared a meeting and inspired the ignorant people to spread the word amongst the great scholars. And they took steps to transfer the matter to the king of Egypt and as a result he (ibn Taymiyyah) was arrested and put in prison. And gatherings were convened to discuss the spilling of his blood, calling for this purpose the people from the small mosques and students - those people who would argue to make others happy, and those who would argue to show their cleverness, and those who declared takfeer and called for disassociation. And your Lord Knows what is in their hearts and what they proclaim. And the one who announced his kufr was no better than the one who argued to make others happy. And the sting of their plots crept up on him, and Allaah made futile every plot, and rescued him at the hands of those who He chose… Then he continuously moved from one trial to another and in all his life he did not move from trouble except into trouble. Then there followed what followed in the matter of his arrest and he stayed there in prison until he died, and to Allaah all matters return. On the day of his funeral the streets were crowded, and the Muslims came from every roadway…’" [ibid] Ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee also said, "I read in the handwriting of al-Haafidh Silaah ad-Deen al-Balaa`ee in endorsement of the shaykh of our shaykhs al-Haafidh Bahaa ad-Deen Abdullaah bin Muhammad bin Khaleel: ‘Our shaykh and master and Imaam in matters that are between Allaah and us, the Shaykh of research (tahqeeq), traversing, with those that followed him, the best way. Possessor of many excellent qualities and radiant proofs that all the nations have acknowledged are beyond enumeration. May Allaah make us benefit from his outstanding knowledge, and make us benefit from him in this life and the hereafter. He is the Shaykh, the Imaam, the Aalim who understands the affairs, the deeply devoted, the ocean (of knowledge), the pole of light, the Imaam of Imaams, the blessing to the Muslim nation, the sign of the scholars, the inheritor of the Prophets, the last of the Mujtahids, unique amongst the scholars of the Religion - Shaykh al-Islaam, proof of the scholars, the example for the creatures, proof for the learned ones, effacer of the innovators, sword of the disputers, ocean of knowledge, beneficial treasure, the interpreter of the Qur`aan, the amazement of the times, unique in this age and others. Indeed Taqi ad-Deen (ibn Taymiyyah) is the Imaam of the Muslims, the proof of Allaah against the creation, the joiner of the righteous, the one who is like those who have preceded, the mufti of the sect, helper of the truth, the sign of guidance, the pillar of the Huffaadh, Knight of the meanings of words, cornerstone of the Sharee`ah, originator of new sciences Abu al-Abbaas ibn Taymiyyah." [ibid. From this book taken on it’s own it is very difficult to discern ibn Hajr’s own opinion on ibn Taymiyyah was. For all he did was to gather all the material he could find on the Shaykh and then start off the account with all those scholars who wrote against him, and end with all those scholars who supported him. It would seem likely that ibn Hajr’s own stance would be in line with those whom he finished off his biography with, due to their being his Shaykhs. This reasoning is supported with the next quote from ibn Hajr. Allaah knows best.] Ibn Hajr said, "…those of his stances that were rejected from him were not said by him due to mere whims and desires and neither did he obstinately and deliberately persist in them after the evidence was established against him. Here are his works overflowing with refutations of those who held to tajseem yet despite this he is a man who makes mistakes and is also correct. So that which he is correct in – and that is the majority – is to benefited from and Allaah’s Mercy should be sought for him due to it, and that which he is incorrect in should not be blindly followed. Indeed he is excused for his mistakes because he is one of the Imaams of his time and it has been witnessed that he fulfilled the conditions of ijtihaad… From the astonishing qualities of this man was that he was the strongest amongst men against the People of Innovation, the Rawaafidah, and the Hululiyyah, and the Ittihaadiyyah, and his works on this are many and famous, and his fataawaa on them cannot be counted, so how the eyes of these innovators must have found joy when they heard those who declared him to be a kaafir! And how delighted they must have been when they saw those who did not declare him to be a kaafir in turn being labelled kaafir! It is obligatory upon the one who has donned the robe of knowledge and possesses intelligence that he consider the words of a man based upon his well-known books or from the tongues of those who are trusted to accurately convey his words – then to isolate from all of this what is rejected and warn from them with the intention of giving sincere advice and to praise him for his excellent qualities and for what he was correct in as is the way of the scholars. If there were no virtues of Shaykh Taqi ad-Deen except for his famous student Shaykh Shams ad-Deen ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, writer of many works, from which both his opponents and supporters benefited from then this would be a sufficient indication of his (ibn Taymiyyah’s) great position. And how could it be otherwise when the Shaafi`ee Imaams and others, not to speak of the Hanbalees, of his time testified to his prominence in the (Islamic) sciences…" [From Ibn Hajr’s endorsement of ‘Radd al-Waafir’ contained at the end of the book.] [‘ad-Durar al-Kaaminah’ of ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee under the biography of ibn Taymiyyah] Ibn Katheer said, "the least he would do when he heard something was to memorise it and then busy himself with learning it. He was intelligent and had much committed to memory, and he became an Imaam in tafseer and everything linked to it and knowledgeable in fiqh. Indeed it was said he was more knowledgeable of the fiqh of the madhabs then the followers of those very same madhabs in his time and other than his time. He was a scholar in Usul and the branches of the religion and grammar and the language and other textual and intellectual sciences…no scholar of a science would speak to him except that he thought that that science was the speciality of ibn Taymiyyah. As for hadeeth then he was the carrier of its flag, a haafidh and able to distinguish the weak from the strong, fully acquainted with the narrators…" [‘al-Bidaayah wan Nihaayah’ (14/118-119) of ibn Katheer.] He also said, "He was, may Allaah have mercy upon him, from the greatest of scholars, also from those who err and are correct. However his errors with respect to his correct rulings were like a drop in a huge ocean and they are forgiven him as is authentically reported by Bukhaaree, ‘when a ruler makes a ruling, and he is correct then he has two rewards, and if he has erred then he has one reward.’" He also mentioned that when the scholars of his time gathered for a sitting with ibn Taymiyyah to discuss his work ‘Aqueedah al-Hamawiyyah’ that his replies to their accusations could not be rebutted. [‘al-Bidaayah wan Nihaayah’ (14/5)] Similarly he mentioned that when the scholars sat to argue with him with regards to his Aqueedah al-Waasitiyyah the argument ended with them accepting all that was contained in the book as in vol. 14 of ‘al-Bidaayah’ under the heading ‘Aqd al-Majaalis ath-Thalaatha’
