It is quite astonishing when one wants to twist historical facts to serve his/her own interest. Horta Mr.Complex hal mid iga ho..C/llahi Yusuf had nothing to do with creation of SSDF, in contrast he depleted the importance of the organisation as a figure of a national unity against the Barre (Allah uu naxariste)_ regime. SSDF existed long before C/llahi fled Somalia, and it comprised of reputed figures ranging from different tribes of Somalia. However because of clan animosity between Barre's tribe and that of the last democratic president of Somalia, President Sharmake (Allah uu naxariste) the armed and combatant elements of SSDF derived mainly from the tribe of the latter who were escaping from persecution in Somalia.Nevertheless SSDF as an organisation was at peace withself - untill - enter C/llahi Yusuf. Now, you say he fled after the failed coup and that he was part of it - you are right in a sense, but do you know what was his role in the failed coup? No, I pressume - but here you are quoting from tainted text book. So let me add this to your info, many believe, and when I say believe, they are adamant that C/llahi Yusuf was the reason why Barre's regime found out about the planned coup. And as a result was hastily brought forward than the planned date - result failure and capture of the coup leaders. SSDF, C/llahi Yusuf single handedly destroyed the nationalistic element within the SSDF - he has turned into a tribal faction - and to the record they have not waged a single armed struggle against Barre regime, on the contrary it decapitated and its leaders where, suprisingly pardoned by Barre and they were all re-instated to the posts they held in 'dowladi kacanka'. SSDF , yes it was the first 'jabhaad' formed - but it was not formed by C/llahi Yusuf - furthermore it did not ever wage war at all ( unless ofcourse you consider war the blatant propoganda from 'radio qurmis') - except help the Axmaro capture Balanballe and even in there the Ethiopian flag was hoisted. Has C/llahi Yusuf ever commandered an army, nope. Most of the victories he claims were done for him by Axmaro - and even those are numbered and they are two (1) defeating the democratically elected government of Jamac Cali Jamaac in Puntland -(2) eliminating the ICU in Somalia. Ironically both work were done by Axmaro and C/llahi and his disciples claim victory - when everyone knows the truth.

  4. Somalia too tough for al Qaeda? WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda has failed for more than a decade to establish an operational base in Somalia due to the country’s austere environment and inhospitable clans, a new U.S. military report says. Fears that Somalia, on the Horn of Africa and accessible by land and sea, is ripe to become an al Qaeda hub have so far failed to materialize. “Al Qaeda found more adversity than success in Somalia,” states the report by the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point. “In order to project power, al Qaeda needed to be able to promote its ideology, gain an operational safe haven, manipulate underlying conditions to secure popular support and have adequate financing for continued operations. It achieved none of these objectives.” The United States has portrayed Somalia, which has not had a functioning government since 1991, as being in danger of becoming an al Qaeda host, much like Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001. Afghanistan had much to offer bin Laden: the ruling Taliban as an ally; a network of bases and training camps; and easy access to a neighboring country such as Pakistan for money, arms and debarkation for international travel. But Somalia is so devoid of basic infrastructure that al Qaeda operatives lacked the means to set up functioning training camps that can be accessed and resupplied. “The anarchic conditions in Somalia that many believe serve al Qaeda’s purposes turned out to be as challenging for al Qaeda as for the Western organizations seeking to help Somalia,” The West Point report said. The report is based in part on 27 recently declassified al Qaeda documents seized during the war on terrorism and on recent developments in the Somali capital of Mogadishu. Ethiopia, a U.S. ally, in December ousted a radical Islamic group that attempted to take power. James Phillips, a foreign policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation, said another key factor is the U.S. military task force in nearby Djibouti. The air and ground forces monitor events in Somalia, and other Horn of Africa nations, and advise them on counterterrorism. On Somalia’s receptiveness to an al Qaeda alliance, Phillips said, “Al Qaeda is predominately an Arab organization, and Arabs tend to stick out in Somalia, so it’s difficult for them to establish large covert bases. The only thing they hate more than their own homegrown radical Islamists casting themselves as holier-than-thou are foreign terrorists coming in and telling them they are not good Muslims and acting holier-than-thou.” rscarborough@dcexaminer.com Examiner

  8. Disregarding the fact whether Sheikh Aweys is actualy a player now in the Somali Politics, dont you assume that this recent letter is bit late coming from him. Soomaalida waxy ku maahmaahda "shaley o aan xoog lahay taalo maheyn - mantey o aan taalo hayana xoog ma hayo". When yesterday we were all praying that he could engage in any form of dialogue with the TFG he labeled them as 'dowlada taagta daran'. Now that he was wrong in his assumption but we all knew that the TFG was not the opponent in here but they were a shadow to a bigger force that was determined that ICU was harboring more than they were claiming. At this moment the moderate ICU's were trying to furnish the demands posed by the International World and prove that they were a better alternative for the Somalis with their field work being a good example - peace and stability from Galkacyo to Kismayo. The humble Sheikh Aweys now was then gearing up for more and undermining the moderate voice of the ICU- his lieutants were decalaring Jihaad left and right, tilting and risking the enormous achievement they made in such a short time by the Grace of Allah SWT. Though it is history now - it is however beyong argumentative that Sheikh Aweys reliance on the power force behind the ICU made him stubborn and arrogant and as a result blind to the predicatable reality - the speedy self destruction of the ICU, cause of his stance- aggresive, aggresive and aggresive. In the last two meetings of Khartoum the ICU delegation refused to negotiate with the TFG cause they had axmaro in Baydhabo - well there is axmaro everywhere now. If only at that time they sat with the TFG and horned some sort of negotiation - though the TFG themselves were the mouth piece of external forces - at least the shift of blame for the conference failure would have not been upon the ICU. Plus the fact if the ICU had had accepted the arrival of AMISOM troops as peace keepers - am sure the ICU would have had the upper hand and still control areas which they pacified - but the tone was nothing but 'no askar gaala ah' which brings me to another maahmaah 'dantada maqar ey wa logu sexda'. ICU lacked compromise and are paying the price now - now whether this is due to the leadership of Aweys might to some of you be argumentative , but to me the Sheikh lacked the tact, capability and resolute when it mattered, and as some who knew him in his days from Bosaso and Bakool will tell you - he never had it.

  10. Mr.Dhaqale -xume.....typical of you --mesha lagala hadlo mahiine meelkale ayad abarta. Going back to the gist - it is a fact and undisputable that the conflict was between 'xaaq-u-dirrir' and Axmaro. Ayaga walala socdey , iyo argagixiiso calami aya mesha ku jirtey - adi laguma dirsaan. Simply cause it has not been proved at all - wax la qabtey ama la diley lama haayo, saas awgeed wax daliil ah uma heysiid marmarsiyadada, Ee suashi aheyd ila iyo inte ayey Axmaro idin la jogeysa oo idin dhowreysa, ka jawaab fadlaan.

Horta Mr.Dhaqale-xumo your statement would have been appropriate had the actual fact been that the TFG defeated those galant 'xaq-u-dirir'. If they 'Allah janeye' encountered any defeat it was at the hands of forces other than those you so epitomize,TFG forces. Hence since it is not the case and that you are gloating at the back of others - how long will they be here to look after you ?

More capable than Shariif, the qaat seller. Who from what I heard has not even had basic secondary Schooling. But hey he is your kinsmen and thus has more honour than Bari-Bari, Azhari and the President of the republic So keep them coming. It is not about aqoon only Duke, there should be other things like Caqli and Discpline. And if as you say he has a temper problem and as we know for sure he is a narrow-minded qabiiliste who is sick with hatred of other Somali clans, why make him a special advisor or bring him to the International Media? Or he is just another self-styled advisor?

  20. Congressman Donald PayneTenth District - New Jersey April 27 Mogadishu: Another Darfur in the Making? Innocent civilians in Mogadishu are being killed and maimed by Ethiopian security forces and the militia of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG). The atrocities being committed against innocentcivilians in Mogadishu are war crimes and crimes against humanity. It is shameful and criminal to use tanks and heavy artillery against civilians. Mogadishu is another Darfur in the making. It is sad to see that no one seems to care about the untold suffering of the helpless in Somalia. Unfortunately and sadly, the people of Mogadishu are not even allowed to bury their dead relatives and neighbors. We must not turn a blind eye to the suffering ofinnocent civilians. Since the Ethiopian invasion of Somalia, thousands of civilians have been killed and maimed and more than 320,000 people have been forced to flee their homes. The abuses that are being carried out by the TFG and the Ethiopian security forces are worse than during the dreadful days of the warlords. Instead of working towards peace and reconciliation, the TFG and the Ethiopian forces are engaged in collective punishment of innocent civilians. In Darfur, despite the failure to end the genocide, the international community continues to speak out against the suffering forcefully. Unfortunately, the people of Somalia continue to suffer while the international community turns the other way. It is critical that the African Union expedite the deployment of the proposed peacekeeping force in Somalia. The presence of Ethiopian troops is the single major source of the violence in Mogadishu.Ethiopia must withdraw from Somalia and allow the deployment of a peacekeeping force.
  21. Originally posted by Dhubad: or are you pissed off the fact that they are dealing with the masters rather than the stooges. Exactly..! That is what this whole thread is about....annoyed to the core that they, the TFG, are limited to their role.'by-standers'. Besides the engaged elements in this conflict are invading Tigre and Somali resistance..kuwa aan weli sharaftodi beciin, kuwa xornimada jaceel o aan adonsiga uu adeegiin, kuwa hadey noqoto baahi ama dhereeg, colaad ama nabad, jaceel intaba in ay la kulman ayago xor ah, kuwa tallada sarta xukunka iyo aminaada Alle (SWT) o aan u baryo teegin , kafilladna uu donaan kufarka. Hence if the above two agree and resolve matters without engaging in anymore armed conflict the validity of TFG will be thinner than the paper is written on, if however as expected it continues, for sure Inshallah, justice and righteous will prevail and tigre will be kicked out, thus yet again the vaidity of TFG is no more. Therefore Duke knows waxa dowladaan dabakadhilif la hadal hayaba wa inta uu dagalku socdo.
  22. Originally posted by General Duke: ^^^So now what you are saying is that Hiiraale controls the port city of Kismayu on behalf of your clan, is that so? Yes which clearly states that Af-gaduud is not there on behalf of your clan......how long will it take you to digest that info and wake up from the current hypnotic situation your waltzing through. Duke, it is crumblling right there infront of your eyes, the TFG is slowly and painfully and in humilation decaying , but you see otherwise like habar cunuug doqon ah dhashey.
  23. I think we need to be clear on one thing as far as this clashes in Mogadishu is concerned. There is nothing as per se a TFG troops who are involved in the fighting - they are more like a side-lined cheerleaders - same as those who print this rubbish in here. TFG captured this and that and controls this and that is pure fabrication and fantasy. Yes there is a war but it is solely between Ethiopian troops and gallant Somali resistance militias. Hence it will be appropriate if (I would have said my compatriots - but I doubt whether thy are) are happy at what the Ethiopians are achieving in Xamar, though it is not existant at best and at worst disputable, to give credit to where it is due...to the Axmaros not the TFG - oo sidi haweenki uun geeska ka baranbureyso.

It is a wonder shelling the city for weeks and levelling the building to the grounds not mentioning killing civilians can be clasiffied as a liberation of a state.
