  1. It does not look good when the perception of injustice is supported by actual numbers.

  6. So, this extension is okay with them. I love to hear their reasoning other than having possible 'allies' in the current parliament.
  7. I assume opposition leaders support this? I haven't heard or seen any complaining about it.
  8. I wonder if the constitutional amendments will still stand as it regards the number of political parties. Nobody wants to see three parties with expiration dates.
  9. I am not a fan of Deni and in the end, he is to blame! Having said that, I hope he wins. I don't see Asad, Ina Farole, and Shire being any better. The only silver here is no next extension past the end of the term, something for future leaders to consider. The year 2024 will be a consequential year for Puntland and Somalia.
  10. That's tragic! Ironically, no one in the opposition seems any better than Deni. I don't know if that will help win again. I am assuming reer SSC elders will select their MPs?
  11. I never understood why any Somali group thinks they can impose their will on others. Hargeisa might be the last to figure that out. Jumping from any possible savior to another will not win them anything. The Oromo thing has actually befuddled the youth.
  12. Let's hope so. Even an indirect election on January 8 seems unlikely at the moment. The political decoupling of SSC and Pland is another issue. It would be rather unfair for MPs from SSC to decide the presidential winner.
  13. I heard many say SNM's original goal was never to secede and break up the country, and secession was forced on people by more radical elements at the last minute. Does this account for the lack for the lack planning and foresight?
  14. It seems like a good idea if everybody was on board, but I am afraid it might complicate things. Do you know if Deni and the opposition are on board?
  15. This does not seem like much of a solution. Garowe (HOL) - The traditional committee from SSC-Khatumo released its decisions concerning the electoral dispute between Puntland regional leaders and the opposition. During a press conference in Garowe on Wednesday, the committee, dedicated to resolving the conflict declared that the presidential election should take place on January 8, 2024, to prevent political conflict and instability. They emphasized that the current parliament will elect the president and vice president. Furthermore, the committee outlined that, following 12 months, the electoral commission would organize a new parliament election using the one-person, one-vote election model. The committee underscored that they had communicated their decision to the parties involved in the election dispute, expressing hope that all parties would accept this resolution. Traditional elders actively working to end the political dispute have welcomed the decision from the committee.
  16. The people and leaders of Somaliland must have always known that international recognition might never happen. Did the elite have another plan in mind? This is particularly important today as things are unraveling politically, economically, and even socially. Where does Somaliland go from here?
