Suldaanka, Faysal Warabe commented on the meeting. I was wondering to whose benefit was alliance formed? Surely your average HJ and HA urbanite/geeljire will not benefit. I am glad and hope it is true that the young people vote on ideas. And I think Somaliland need to retire men from SNM/Kacaanka era. They have served their purpose. There is a need for new blood.

Middle aged Somalilander gets angry by Omar Al-Bashir's reality comments
Che -Guevara replied to Saalax's topic in Politics
MMA must be doing something right if he is eliciting such vitriol. -
Ace, It's Somali politics and the Somali mind is unfortunately predictable . Let's not fool ourselves. That said we are all allowed indulge in fantasies, so be my guest. My take the winner will be whoever ingratiates themselves most to Sa'ad Muse elites. How much do you want to bet Muusa Biixi will be the winner? It does help he is already one of them! Anyway, as you were.

So in terms tribal politics, I understand the habro current political alliances are HA/HJ vs Garxj. What are the chances of Ciro and Waarabe winning?

I saw it on TMZ. You would think in the age of camera videos, one would be wiser. He should have gone the Somali way. Go to Africa to find another wife, Like how they justify that, Afarbaan guursan karaa.

So who do you support? And who do you think will win?

You don't transcend anything by doing nothing.

If we are to accept your rationale, every Somali will not go out of his house. Every sub-sub-sub clan might as well have their own "country". After all, Somali conflict goes beyond major clans. It is a case, "I, against my brothers. I and my brothers against my cousins. I and my brothers and my cousins against the world".

I think whether federalism stays or not, one thing all Somalis need to ask themselves is have our fortunes changed for the better since the formation mini-states? It is more than clear the federal states can't deliver anything, not even the basic services, can't defend the country and is easily manipulated. We need devolution with strong central government. Whatever we do, issues of defense, foreign affairs, economic and monetary management and internal security should be in the hands of the federal government. The federal states need to be democratized too and the demography of each region should be reflected in each government and by that I mean, for instance, there is huge population of R-weyne family in Puntland, they represent large chunk of the residents in Bosaso, Galkayo and many towns, that population should be represented in Pland parliament and municipalities. Same thing should be replicated everywhere.

Yoniz, Foreign issues are under purview of the federal executive branch, That;s very clear. Whether the Federal Government is wrong or right is beside the point. We can't have federal states pushing the agenda of foreign powers and undermining Somali sovereignty. These states could have expressed their displeasure in private or through the federal parliament.. Listen to Xaaf: http://www.caasimada.net/dhageyso-madaxweyne-xaaf-oo-sheegay-inuu-imaaraadka-u-tagay-sidii-uu-lacag-usoo-heli-lahaa/ He and others are flagrantly undermining the central government hence Somali sovereignty You need to see the big picture!!,

It does not matter if Somalis adopt federalism or unitary system. As long as they don't respect the constitution or the law of the land, nothing will move forward.

Hello Blue, Nothing interesting happening, just being beaten by daily things. I hope that wasn't too depressing, But overall things are good. I like Holac's contrived outrage. Perhaps Galbeedi can tell Holac the Somalia of 70s and 80s, I like Farah, he's natural comedian.

We are no longer giants, just mukulaalo hissing at each other, Somalis in the past from from Ajarun empire, Geledi, Sheikh Barsane, Adal and Dervishes resisted Abyssinia and Oromo masses expansionism. We, now, have Somalis expressing pride in being Ethiopia's lapdogs. Personally, I hope this subsides. The Horn cannot afford ME like chaos or Rwanda like genocide. The real enemy is the small circle of the TPLF elites. They will use any means to stay in power and when the end comes, they want other ethnics to turn on each other. I was once listening to audio by Faysal Waraabe, he is out there but he does speak the truth every now and then. He talked about Somalis in Hargeysa. He noted the Somalis will fight over a plot of land but they will never say anything to an Oromo. War masaakiinta iska daaye is their motto. I hope no harm comes to Oromos in Somali regions ( from personal experience, I know what happens when neighbors turn on each other, it is not pretty) but the massacre and vitriol against Somalis is mindbogglingly.

I was astonished by their level of hatred and brutality towards Somalis. Maybe this is a wake-up for Somalis. Help understand about the Jaarso, why did they opted for Oromo region in the first place?

This is funny. I was talking to fellow southerner the other day. He was accusing reer Waqooyi of bringing jaad and qabyaalad among other vices to the South. I guess it is easy to blame others for your shortcomings. But that said he does want to visit Somaliland and other Somali lands. In any case, the southerners have been busy with each other for the last the 30 years. Still, the north does not seem to rid itself of "southern bad habits:. The North is still poor and dusty, tribal in nature and their leaders corrupt to the core. Regarding the British administration in the North, considering the amount of resources and man power the British invested in fighting the Dervishes, the idea that their admin was hands off is simply tol talk, simple self deception or outright lie. You are confusing British benevolence towards collaborating clans with independence. A bit of history about the South, The Italians had a direct control only over Banadir. In other parts of the south, they simply entered treaties with sultanates and local clans. That changed with the rise of fascism. The fascists changed the strategy. They sent the fascist governor Cesare Maria De Vecchi who was tasked with disarming the Somalis and bring all of the South under one administration. The fascist broke the treaties with MJ sultanates. The MJ revolted and Italians retreated in order to regroup. The Italians suffered initial setbacks in Dharoor valley, Eyl, Hobye, etc. They finally captured MJ territories by having their warships bombard all the MJ coastal towns and villages. They captured Hobyo and moved inland. The MJs were defeated by 1927 and their leaders exiled. The last battle was at Iskushuban where the fascists sent a large force. The fascists used brute force in order to avoid the embarrassment of Adwa battle. Sheikh Hassan Barsane started another revolt in the South. Before he started fighting the fascist Italians, Sheikh Barsane only fought the Ethiopian expansionist. He defeated the Ethiopian expansionists at the battle of Gumar Shabeel and put an end to their misadventures into Somalia. He started a campaign against the fascists. He fought at Bulo Barde, Ceeldheer, the entire Shabelle and Hiran regions. The Biyamaal also revolted but they and Dervishes were spent forces by the fascists arrived. The Italian fascists put down all Somali resistance with brute force as they considered Italian Somaliland as their jewel colony. The administrative structure was setup largely to control the Somalis, protect Italian farms and help settle the large influx of Italians. The Italians started a process of assimilation by educating would be Somali administrators,a process I imagine took place in every European colony. The Somalis of the South fought and resisted Italian fascism. The fascists had to build a state structure in order control them.

The girl is rocking it-original Somali twerking, that was funny. Holac, how old are you? That's sincere question.
