  1. I really hope that's not true. Somalis need a win, not another Somali region with crooked leadership. Why would one document their misdeeds?
  2. Counting less than one million votes should not take this long.
  3. I can boil an egg and that's on a good day
  4. The Government have arrested five people Mukhtar Mohamud Hassan Gardhub Abdiweli Ahmed Dirie (Abdiqani) head of explosive for Shabab in Mogadishu Hassan Aden Isaq, driver of 2nd car Ali Yusuf Waceys (Duale) would-be suicide bomber for 2nd car Abdullahi Abdi Warsame. We will really never know the true extent. The Government seems to have no plan in dealing AS. They are simply reacting.
  5. Is it me or the number of registered or eligible voters is low? I thought the population of Somaliland is pushing four million.
  6. Barwaaqo, you are welcome. I disagree with Somaliland separating from rest of the country but I have to admit they came a long way. Few in our part of the world can pull off such election and with such limited resources. There is something to be said about that. Congratulations to everyone who made it possible and most importantly to the citizens! Hopefully, the losers will accept defeat gracefully and the next government can genuinely address issues like recurring droughts and youth unemployment.
  7. Puntland usually talks a lot of bs but they have facts backing them up. There was no voting in Eastern Sanaag and Buhoodle, a low turnout in Las Anod. It seems the Harti are not ready to jump on Habro gravy train. That said, the election went well, something for other Somali regions to emulate!
  8. Save them from what? And what has he actually delivered?
  9. Galayr and Samatar were not run out of the South (though there is a real need for political change in Somalia). The two professors are just bad politicians. They should have stuck to what they know.
  10. I think like Kurds, they acted too quickly and irrationally. The president and parliament pushed themselves into a corner. Don't rile up the public unless you can deliver.
  11. Lombardy and Veneto (Italy) are holding referendums for greater autonomy from Rome. apparently inspired Catalonia and Scotland independence bids. The regions had independence aspirations in the past but now, the governors claim they want more control over the finance, immigration among other things. The point being secessionist movements are becoming up. International organizations and countries are not in mood of opening pandora's box. The US, EU, AU and Arab League are not going to encourage secession. The best Somaliland could hope in terms of independence is greater autonomy. They might, however, get lucky if Ethiopia disintegrates, a possibility. In any case, a bravado aside, their best option is to sit with Mogadishu.
