  1. They are reshaping the world before our eyes. The question is what does this mean for the Horn and Somalia, in particular. The only company that showed any interest is CCECC which build Bosaso airport and was suppose to build roads and Galkayo in exchange for oil exploration licenses. The prospect of large investment will remain distance as long as the government in Mogadishu is just government in name.
  2. What should we call it. Since Somali territories will make up the biggest chunk, it should be named after us.
  3. It's also uniquely interesting is that other regions have also stayed quiet. These are the same regions that were jumping up and down to undermine the federal government when other Gulf states turned on Qatar.
  4. Come down Observer, You said both Ethiopia and Somalia will fracture, I assume that's will be to the benefit to Tigray which would need access to the sea and farmlands. I don't see Tigray separating from Ethiopia unless they have something better line up. And how do see Ethiopia fracturing in case it does?
  5. So, you are saying Greater Tigray is being revived now that TPLF might eventually lose power.
  6. As the rhetoric about Berbera heats up, there's a noticeable silence from Gas and Co, a group with vested interest in the Emirates' economic expansion into Somalia considering the agreement between P&O Ports and Puntland? What gives? Was Gas promised something else?
  7. It took so long. It shows it's easy to destroy then it's to build. Many have tried so hard to make sure Somalia did not to regain this.
  8. Like of Aidid, Abdullahi and alike just wanted to replace Barre. The Somali public and their qabiil were means to an end. Their only interest was power and they were going to do everything to get that even at the expense of the country.
  9. Culture is not stagnant! Think of Constantine the Great and Christianity in the midst of Pagan Roman empire.
  10. At the end of the day, the man and his generation left Somalia in ruins. They went to Ethiopia to wage against their country just so they get power. They didn't fight for the interest of the Somali people. They were masiibo lasoo direy. And whatever his initial goal might have been, Abdullahi Yusuf led Ethiopia to Xamar, sad end to his life.
  11. This is a symbolic gesture! Oromo won't be satisfied until Oromo is an official language and Finfinnee is incorporated into Oromia. In other words, they want an equal status or outright independence.
  12. Considering the Mare-xaan and to lesser extent, the Juba Harti were never on board with this project, I don't see how entire groups can be blamed. But the issue of Somalis siding with foreigners to secure their interests and foreigner powers exploiting this division is not new. It existed during the time of Sayidka. SNM and SSDF launched their campaigns in Ethiopia. The most devastating and insurmountable problem in Somalia is the intense competition and winner takes-all mentality between D-block and H-block. This will always undermine Somali sovereignty Of course, that's not an excuse for inaction. The feeling of the Somali public is better reflected by the people of Beled Xaawo.
  13. It is an unfortunate reality that has befallen on a country that is in the midst of never ending war. A combination of bad leadership and demoralized public have led us to where we are today. Apart from certain beneficiaries including unscrupulous politicians, I see no other Somali that is accepting of this. The fairer question is what are Somalis going to do about it.
  14. Will never? You mean you can see into the future?
  15. Observer, No, that was God breaking Greater Somalia from the rest of the Horn
  16. It's almost at the end of March and there is no new prime-minister. The government rearrested some of the detainees they released.
  17. I am assuming she means one man, one vote type of election. That's unrealistic expectation considering the insecurity, lack of political movement, foreign interference and sabotage by Somalis themselves.
