  1. lol@Mooge, I think if we don't sort out our affairs. All Somalis will lose. At the point, we are all pawns whether you are "HAG" or not. We are the mercy of bigger powers. Oodweyne, I don't think they will cancel right away. That said, I think UAE were never interested in development the port.
  2. Puntland is more concerned with keeping the existing infrastructure.
  3. ABU DHABI, 15th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The UAE has decided to disband its military training programme in Somalia which started in 2014 to build the capabilities of the Somali army. The decision comes in response to Somali security forces' seizure of a UAE-registered civil aircraft at Mogadishu Airport and confiscation of money destined to pay the soldiers. The UAE and Somalia are bound by historical relations based on mutual respect and the UAE Forces had carried out a number of training missions for thousands of Somalis to build up their capabilities. In addition, the UAE has been paying the salaries of 2407 Somali soldiers and built three training centres, a hospital, and dispatched Emirati medical teams for treating Somalis. The UAE is supervising the counter-piracy maritime police force in Puntland where the UAE has been effectively contributing to leveraging the capacities of the Somali military and security facilities while supporting efforts to fight terrorism in collaboration with a number of international parties and the African Union's forces in Somalia. The UAE has expressed its denunciation of the seizure incident which flies in the face of diplomatic traditions and ties between world countries and contravenes the agreements signed by both countries. 4. Peace Action, The Emirates sent a ship to pick up vehicles and equipment. Puntland didn't want to give up of any that. The ship was turned away and their plane searched. In any case, Puntland is in very awkward position.
  5. It's one thing to give up premiership but I can't see Woyanes giving up the reigns of the security services.

  17. Tue 10-04-2018 17:21 PM UAE condemns Somali authorities' seizure of private jet, funds ABU DHABI, 10th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The UAE has condemned the seizure of its civilian aircraft carrying millions of dollars by authorities in Somalia on Sunday. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said that the jet was seized at Mogadishu airport carrying US$9.6 million in cash allocated to support the Somali army and trainees. The Ministry added that some those on-board the plane had been held at gunpoint and assaulted by Somali security forces. This action is an illegal step that "contradicts the established diplomatic norms and traditions between countries and is a serious breach of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries in November 2014," it continued. It went on to say that the UAE "deplores this violation of international law and norms, at a time when the UAE has provided all kinds of political, economic, military and humanitarian support in the darkest conditions to establish security and stability in the Somali Federal Republic."
