  1. Ethiopia is set to become the 9th member state of East Africa Community (#EAC), CS Malonza says This was disclosed by Peninah Malonza, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of EAC, Arid and Semi-arid Lands and Regional Development. Speaking while leading a relief food distribution drive in Kitui Central Constituency, Malonza announced that talks between Ethiopia and EAC Summit Heads of State are in the last stages, and soon Ethiopia will be part of the bloc. Aside from Ethiopia’s admission, the EAC partner states also seek to harmonize critical policies and put in place requisite institutions to attain a single currency for the region by the end of this year as outlined in the EAC Monetary Union Protocol.
  2. Does anyone think HSM was arm twisted into joining EAC? Are Somalis aware of EAC charter?
  3. It finally happened . He's looking to replace Qoorqoor according to the rumor mill.
  4. It reminds me of HSM many useless portfolios given to his competitors from Mogadishu. It looks like Hamza started doing the same thing now that he's out of job.
  5. I was speaking in general terms. What HSM did is a power grap and will lead to an term extension and years of bickering. Even if we don't get into the merits of the changes, the fact that he didn't engage any stakeholders discredited the whole process not to mention the abuse or complete disregard of parliamentary procedures.
  6. I am surprised Cagjar didn't force people to come.
  7. We can make arguments for some of the changes that are going to beneficial as such the PM issue. But I do believe elections should be ran by the states. Perhaps the federal government and political parties can observe the process. Political parties can certainly challenge the results in the court system.
  8. Everyone agrees the constitution needed changes. Even Deni and Farmaajo would welcome it if they were in the driving seat. My worry is the concentration of power in one man.
