  1. I have seen Somali men reproducing well into their seventies with no noticable side effects to their offsprings. But it is more healthier to have kids at younger age.

  8. MOGADISHU (AFP) - Gunmen in Mogadishu on Tuesday shot dead a brother-in-law of Somali Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi in one of five killings in the past 24 hours in the lawless capital, witnesses said. Four heavily armed attackers followed Yusuf Mohamed Dhisow, a businessman, as he left his house in northern Mogadishu before overtaking him, blocking his car and opening fire, an AFP journalist witnessed. A member of the prime minister's family confirmed that the husband of Ayan Mohamed Gedi was killed in the Bakara market, the main Mogadishu market in the south of the city. "We do not know who is behind this killing, but it was apparently a planned execution," Abukar Gaal, one of the slain man's cousins, told AFP. "We think he was targeted because of his relationship with the prime minister and there are widespread fears that government officials and their relatives are being targeted." The high-profile death was one of five separate killings reported in Mogadishu in the past 24 hours. The coastal city has seen a surge in attacks and fighting since joint Somali-Ethiopian forces ousted a powerful Islamist movement late last year. Thousands of terrified residents have fled and dozens have died since the start of the year. At least 10,000 people have fled violence in Mogadishu since the beginning of February, according to latest report from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. "It could be as high as 15,000 people," spokeswoman Molly McCloskey told AFP. Somlia is now awaiting the deployment of an 8,000-strong African Union force to try to help the interim government restore order in Mogadishu. The country has lacked an effective government since the 1991 ouster of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre. Source: AFP, Feb 27, 2007
  9. The only entity that benefited from the war in Iraq is the big multinational companies whose only aim is to fill the pockets of the shareholders. Neither the Americans (Public), or Iraq have gained anything in any meaningfull way. There is also seem to be a race to secure all the world's energy resources as these companies are feeling the heat from the rival Asian competitors namely the Chinese and the Indians who no longer feel the need to depend Wester expertise for oil exploration and production. Even America's little misadventure into Somali proper might partially motivated the need to locate new and profitable new oil resources. web page
  10. How come no hot chicks taking part in the demo?!!
  11. Raadamiir....Who are you talking to? Khalaf......You don't have to respond if you don't wanna, but atleast be sincere in your discourse. Your support for one group or the other has everything to do with how you present your thoughts on the Somali issue. Denying that doesn't help anyone reach a useful conclusion.
  12. ^^^Good riddance. Why not just come out say I support the TFG in the first place. See hade meel laguu raaco aa leedahay.
  13. ^^^It is legitimate question Red. It is something liberating about running naked. Maybe Jaylaani should try it before he opens his mouth again.
  14. ^^^^Duqa horta how do you reconcile your support for Somaliland secession, and your hope to see the emergence of Islamic republic in the south?
  15. would ne running naked in the dry land of MUDUG what's wrong with running naked in Mudug?
  16. Jimcaale...I was being sincere duqa.
  17. ^^^It is futile discussing things that you have hardly any bearings on. Besides, you haven't provided us with any alternatives either or is that too much to ask. You just pose us with questions ( complaints)
  18. Originally posted by Khalaf: i would call it more of realist mentlity sxb. Predicting a doomsday scenerio, saaxib, it is already real enough. Surely, it can't get any worse than this. P.S Since you seem to have a full grasp of the issues, why not tell us who you think would replace Yeey? LooooooooL@nuune...I wonder how are things in Kismaayo.
  19. ^^^This defeatists mentality doesn't help. If this was meant to ignite some genuine discussion on our rather bleak future future, then you have failed miserably.
  20. By Hiiraan Online Editorial Board It sounds surreal, but the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) seems to be embracing the same dangerous track that recently led to the demise of the once-powerful Union of Islamic Courts: Unnecessary provocation. Soon after they ascended to power and gained the support of the public, the UIC hastened to provoke the TFG and its supreme backer, the Ethiopian government. It was a fatal error in judgment that we forewarned web page the UIC to avoid. Our call—and that of thousands of peace-loving Somalis, was turned down by the UIC. Now, the TFG is on a fast track to provoke the Somali people with its blatant refusal to engage in a genuine political settlement with its real adversaries on a neutral ground. Instead, the TFG is turning to old tricks that hardly work: Imposing draconian measures, severely muzzling the media and worst of all, retaliating with vengeance. Insofar as the harsh and punitive firepower used and/or approved by the TFG kill innocent people everyday, they also kill the prospects of hope in Somalia, which was dashed one after another for so long. If nothing, the UIC proved that you don’t need to have foreign troops to pacify lawless Somalia. The TFG is blessed with far more resources than the UIC did; nonetheless, the country is plunging back into chaos. The minimum responsibility of a government is to be able to protect its citizens. The TFG has so far been doing exactly the opposite. The TFG’s mantra for a “reconciliation conference among tribes inside Somalia,” is nothing short of a ploy aimed at meeting the international community’s demand for all-inclusive peace talks. In that backdrop, the Hiiraan Online Editorial Board can only offer few timely recommendations, as we did with the UIC at their peak: 1. The TFG should open direct, unconditional peace talks with the UIC on a neutral ground. The UIC was at least talking to the TFG when the latter was holed up in Baidoa. The short term goal of the talks should focus on quelling the violence in Somalia, but a long term power-sharing deal is necessary for a viable TFG. 2. The TFG should ask Ethiopians to withdraw their forces precipitously. Their presence is the perfect ingredient for more violence. 3. Any peacekeeping mission should be one that’s not hostile to either party; a number of neutral countries have expressed interest in helping with the pacification, pending diplomatic settlement. 4. Together to two should quickly move to establish an independent elections committee that sets the ground work for elections in 2009. This is particularly important cognizant that the mandate of the TFG is expiring in two years. If the TFG deviates from those somber recommendations, the reasonable upshot of that is going to be clearly self-incineration. The TFG’s success hinges largely on its willingness to talk to its opponents.
  21. Sweden supports the TFG Duke...How does this change anything on the ground? You could milk few mills from the west in the name of Somali reconcialation, but that hardly contributes to Somali peace and prosperity. More importantly, it doesn't help in legitimatizing this so called goverment.
