  1. C-Cutie, I guess Lakkad didn't mean to burst any bubble but rather to comment on the dire situation in the country, However let us remind ourselves that the spirit of the people are never comprised by the evils of their leaders. Here are some beautiful pics that you might like..it showcases the true beauty of DJ. Over 700 of them !!!! http://www.djiboutiweb.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=ppm&file=index the national Anthem: http://www.thenationalanthems.com/country/djibouti.htm Salam
  2. Infertility is not only a woman's problem but also affects the male population but obviously the majority is centered on manipulating womens' reproductive organs instead of looking at the big picture of society as a whole such as pollution and diet change. Althought, i'm not discouraging people from pursuing any avenue open to them to conceive i'm also warning of the Unknown elements of IVF and other reproductive technologies. Louise brown in 1978 is the first tube test baby, and today she's 24 or so ..we still don't know about her reproductive capabilities and many more things. How do we know having kids that way is a good and acceptable alternative...How do we know they'll be healthy individuals in the long term? I guess adoption seems to me like a better alternative, it's a win win situation. Salam
  3. I don't think arming young kids is the solution here, we are not aiming for REVOLVERlution but rather a less drastic outcome. We want our people and kids to be safe on the streets, so i think it's better to have workshops and forums where they can unite and share ideas of how to protect themselves without harming anyone. Most people here mentionned good solutions. And I think the best one is to stear clear of situations where they can find themselves in the midst of danger. Sports, Reading clubs, and many more Hobbies can reduce the time kids roam the streets and thus avoid running into the wrong crowds. Insh'allah we'll find the right solution. salams
  4. Choosing America over The Arabs? Is that what it all came down to? Even if some government in the middle east are misguided, mischievous and money loving..the population is another thing....most of them have the same aspirations as us. I guess we don't need to highlight that muslims have our first and foremost loyalty and none other deserve such trust..not Israel ..not Americans and certainly not even favorable western countries. Because in the end, even if they took us in their countries they wanted something in return. whether it's our cheap workforce..our conversion or simply our contributions as a productive citizens. So it was not entirely an altruistic motive. Did America help somalia as a peacekeeper? Is the fact that it's blacklisted by Americans and bound to be bombed Baghdad style help enough? The list is long and i'm not here to teach history..however it's quite clear that whomever supports America supports the annihilation of Islam...and clearly we will never take part in such blasphemy. salams
  5. "The supplication which gets the quickest answer is that made by one distant Muslim for another" [Reported by Abu Dawood] "There is no believing servant who supplicates for his brother behind his back (in his absence) that the Angels do not say: The same be for you too" [sahih Muslim] So here is the du'aa for your father May allah Grant him a clean bill of health and make his ordeal easier, May allah shower him with strenght to go through the surgery and bring your whole family together to support him. Amiin salams
  6. I guess they say blessing comes in all forms...and this article shows us the guiding light that Islam is for so many. While other religions tolerate atrocities to suit their purpose, Islam has always (and always will be) been the only one who stood its ground despite the few bloodthirsty hypocrites who try to no avail to defame its glorious standing. Lakkad thank you for sharing such an interesting article....keep the critical spirit alive! salam
  7. WEll this method of quest for love is subjective just like everything else. Some people find it quite useful others repugnant for the mere fact that it's not real and that it's conducted on pratically a virtual environment. Once the happy couple venture in the outside world...well that's another matter....the guy turns out to be a farax with bad habits like KHAT and the lady turns out a xalimo who has other plans like going to weddings every night. But who are we to judge right? It's each individual's decision. The net could be a safe place better than jams and clubs but it could also be misleeding to the potential wife/husband seekers. Since of course everyone is perfect 10 in this virutal world. To all the brothaz and sistaz looking for love...wish you all the best whether you find it in a the corner store buying milk.....or in a stuffy jam rocking to the musik. May each and every method work for you!! salams
  8. THanks Mujahid, it is truely inspirational and i appreciate it....here is another website to help those who are interested in memorizing the Names. I think it's a great tool and easy to remember. http://www.namesofallah.co.uk/MemoriseNamesPages/1-9.htm
  9. Take a minute or 2 to listen to this wondrous recital of Allah's names. Hope we can all benefit from it. http://salmanspiritual.com/names.cfm salam
  10. Let me follow the example of Abdinuur and offer Du'aa of protection and mercy for everyone! Rabba-nagfir lee wa li-waali-dayya wa lil mu'mi-niina yawma yaquu-mul hisaab Our Rabb! protect me and my parents and the Believers -- on the day when the reckoning is set up. (14:41) salam
  11. Now this is what I call intelligent quotes, unlike Aristotle and the misguided so called thinkers. These are truely moral and ethical premisses we can abide to and live by. I join the rest in thanking you for these enlightening advice. I wish there were more topics like this. salam
  12. This whole topic went from unbelievers stereotyping muslims to "so-called" muslims accusing Islam. The amazing thing is when people who see themselves as "enlightened" are the same individuals who are truely refuting the truth and the whole basis of our religion. Moreover, why do you have to equate Islam with Arabs, when most muslims are non-arabs? And they clearly have distinct customs and cultures. X playa, if you have an aversion to Islam plz do let us know and don't hide behind the smoke by rejection everything that is "Arab". Whether it's hijab or any other Islamic practice it's either dictated by the Sunnah or by the Quran, the rest is pure garbage. Unless of course you abide to your respective culture wisely without transgressing the boundaries of our religion. And reform or innovation are unacceptable too, we aren't talking about social services or economies but rather a perfect religion. So let's restrict the discussion to criticizing arabs if you like without undermining our religion. salam
  13. I think lakkad is a good match for me...what you say suga..I know you are a lil hunk from the way you respect girls in this joint. But from the looks of it, i need to get in line coz you're booked till next winter. Salam
  14. I must agree with Naasir on this topic, Most women when they get married lose touch with their career path and their jobs. Did you ask yourselves why? Well maybe because children and a husband (who most of the time is a child himself in need of attention) bring responsibilities. But then again, what's wrong with staying at home for the first few years of your child's life and putting your career at the back burner? Those years are the most important part of a child's life, you can shape the future person he/she will become. So the women who forgot about their career and jobs did it because they want to raise their children rather than nannies or the TV raising them. And to me that is the most honorable career in life!
  15. This remix is missing J.D and Ludacris but you'll love it anyways. enjoy http://members.cox.net/kbk2002/india.htm salam
  16. Where shall I start? enslaving the poor....structural adjustment, working on the backs of women and children, Sweatshops...Globalization and transnational corporations...economic integration and colonization....simply the formula to world domination by the American $$ As for market socialism, it's another avenue to exploit the poor hopefuls who think they will get their daily bread..higly unlikely that will work either!! Prince and Paupers do exist in market socialism too. perhaps those who know more about economics and Islam will share the more egalitarian economic system in the Sharia salam
  17. First of all Khat is a narcotic and the side effects can only be speculated by modern science. I don't even think they took the time to do a study on it...at least nothing substantial bc it's not a pressing matter to them like cancer or STDs. Who the hell will be stupid enough to fund any study like that? Second thing is, somali men are skinny for other reasons I don't think it's because of Khat ...coz i know some fat/obese dudes who feed on that stuff like it's Baskin Robbin(Guess they ain't having any luck with it) In overall, Khat is bad for your health, it's balwad, time-consuming and plain disgusting. Let's not even mention the yellow teeth. I don't see why these men can't stop! salam
  18. If i'm dead my body won't be of any use to me...so the answer is yes, so long it's within the islamic ruling..I don't see why I can't save a life but who knows... as for your second question here is a better answer from learned imams. http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=2117&dgn=3 salam
  19. When dealing with stock market it's never clear on its stands on interest. American capitalism is without a doubt the product of interest. Tuition, credit cards, loans, morgage, all sorts of things. So you're bound to come across interest (riba) in these transactions. "There is nothing wrong with selling or buying shares if they are shares in permissible companies. Excluded from this are companies which deal in haraam things, such as selling alcohol, tobacco and music tapes and any other sources of unlawful products or dealings. It is not permitted to have shares in these companies, or to buy these shares. If the company openly deals in ribaa (usury, interest), then it is not permissible to deal with it". source: http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=8590&dgn=3 So it's up to you to research the company you want to invest in and see if it fits the permissible category. salam
  20. Well, I for one, never agreed that career is the sole purpose of the "successful modern" woman. I think that in pursuit of equality we lost sight of what is importants to us and the things that essentially differenciate us from men. We can have children, raise them, be housewives, career women and many more things. Some choose career over kids and end up lonely old hags. Others, end up depending financially over their spouse and are under his mercy. I don't think we should sacrifice our careers, however i do think that we have to adapt our career to suit our lifestyles once we have children. If worse comes to worse, we can be self employed and have our kids without worrying if the boss is going to fire you because you just popped another one. In overall ladies, we should resist the childless, money-hungry, power-thirsty Western workforce and remember that once we concentrate too much on work/career in the end we'll end up neglecting our most important task....which is raising our children. As for fertility, darn it it's better to grow up with your kids then have them when you can't even run after them. salam
  21. ShaXShaXLeeY sorry to burst your hazy bubble but somali plp aren't perfect. I don't know where you heard that they don't exist in our communities but hey who am i to tell you otherwise? Just beware when you drop something ..always have your tush backed into a wall...coz you never know what might hit you in high speed! salam
  22. For the sister who posted the Q, I think you should do whatever you feel you need to do. I'm not going to preach you about Islam coz you already know where the issue stands. You seem like a smart girl, and you know that modelling is only going to objectify you as long as your looks will last. I think you can achieve higher aspirations than be judged by your looks. If plp compliment you on how you look that's not a reason to hit the catwalk but rather to be steadfast and make plp judge you beyond your looks. In the end, the choice will be yours, I wish you good luck on your future endeavors. salam
  23. The dude on the motorcycle, I don't think i was babbling at all...i made my point and answered the lady's question without jumping on anyones throat like you have done to me. First and foremost, she asked about WOMEN, not about MEN, the premisse was can she have more than one partner. Second, unlike you i did not jump to the other gender, but rather answer her question and clear and precise without distorting the whole issue. As for polygamy, althought i never agreed with it, I'm not one to judge Allah's wisdom. And for you to say it's morally and socially inacceptable, then it just shows how little you take the word of God. How can God accept something UN-natural as you said? By the way, I don't remember ever putting a "pathetic" argument together for polygamy. You should reread my original posting. till then Salam y'all
  24. Hmm interesting......lulla sis ..use your brain if a woman had more than one man...she'll never know who the father of her children is.......no no..don't talk about DNA test It's all common sense... and since she's not the one who the patriarcal duties befalls in the family, she can't have the position of caregiver and caretaker. there is the issue of inheritance, names and lineage and many more things that are preventing women from having more than one partner. I hope this clears the topic salam
