  1. Useful information indeed, but despite what most plp think, women are most likely in danger of getting raped, or sexually assaulted by an acquaintance, family or a family friend rather than a total stranger on the street. Because it's with people you know that you let your guards down. Salamz
  2. i think the issue is no longer about feminism and women-bashing, or gender war SOL style. It's more to do with Time. The most essential thing we need to deal with is how to use our TIME effectively. We spend our precious time working under the watchful eye of big brother Capitalism and never giving ourselves Enough time to really work on what is more important, namely family, spouses, building strong cultural and religious community ties in the West. In the end, if some plp want a stay at home mom or a career woman, it should be dealt with on an individual basis, to each his own. But the real dilemma is yes some of us want to work, yes we need plp out of welfare, yes we need an educated generation, yes we need to live above the poverty level but to what end? Our kids will know more about Santa claus than our religion because we won't have Time to talk to them. Their only source of information will be mommy and daddy TV. They will be susceptible to end up like the hamster in a wheel with no destination in this life or the next. Those are the challenges we face today. Not because Farax or xalimo occasionally disagree on gender roles but who will raise your kids or what kind of family will you have time to raise (i'm talking about both genders). In the end, it's a personal decision we all have to face once we cross that bridge. Salamz
  3. Sounds fun, I got 40 and most of the stuff are really true. Well it is true that I don't make friends easily. But then again it's not exactly rocket science, behavioral/personality tests are acurate because most plp can find themselves in one category or another, providing the circumstances. Good one tho' Salamz
  4. Nomad, then perhaps the best way to get the one who will do your washables will be through the classified coz surely that's where the desperados and the distressed congregate. In the meantime, keep sending them to the dry cleaner. Salamz
  5. I see the ever wandering nomad has come to a concentration camp filled with God forbid "feminists" .... what happened to your pink/blue/silk boxers? Man, sudan must have been a passing fancy, who is next? Let me know if your cure has worked. Salamz
  6. I have always advocated the woman's right to choose in regard to every aspect of her life even if it means putting herself in danger. And choosing C-section over Anaconda birth is her right. However, when it comes to putting the life of a child in danger now that's another matter because there is another human life in the equation. But the question remains who makes the Informed choice for her in this matter? Remains to be seen. Salamz
  7. I don't think condoms are in any way corruptive to the morals of our society. People are the main corruptive force. The way I see it, promiscuous attitude in somali societies have existed way before the introduction of condoms by the Aid workers or by native doctors. Men/women went somewhere for business/pleasure, got their groove on with some stranger came back home and unknowingly infected the partner. The only way we can use the condom is as a tentative tool to prevent the spread of AIDS in the sexually active crowd. Coupled with an education in Sexual health (something that is in a weird way taboo)and tell plp that condoms are certainly not the best protection and the most effective way and we must as always preach abstinence. However, it is a HUGE mistake to cry foul and exclaim that the west is trying to infiltrate their dirty morality in our society by the means of condoms. Even if plp were taught about abstinence, high moral Islamic values and avoiding promiscuity, there is always a group of people who will practice sexual freedom so they should be aware that condoms are at least an option. But on the other hand, I agree that condoms are introduced under the pretext of AIDS but it's mostly in order to control the births in our societies and limit the population. That works out for the western forces, less people to cause political rukus. Keep in mind that like most of you here I do believe that it's better not to cover the wound with band "aid" but to take care of the root of the infection. Salamz
  8. What is SOL coming down to? The place to post Death wish to our fellow somalis? For what reason? Because she wrote a make believe fairy tale book and wanted to lead her own life as a model? What a vehement response from some of you as if she was a close relative. I guess your pathetic existence justifies that you drag others with you in your sordid neurotic lives. She is an individual who has choosen a path for herself and she has never asked you lot for permission. So next time, either be a well wisher to those in need or just keep your mouths shut. Salamz
  9. I beg to differ, war IS about gender, culture, race, and economical. War is not only about protecting yourself and your family it's a struggle for power. So who you are , how much you have and what you stand for has always played a role in war. salamz
  10. The women forum is the meeting ground for guys looking to rub elbows with their female counterparts, and have a flirtatious gender war. I think they find this exciting for some odd reason. And I must admit it's also filled with useless topics, Big boobs, cooking women, "how can I date" , just to name a few. In truth, If guys find that they need a men forum, aside the sports and political section, then by all means go for it. I just don't think UD's comment was appropriate, it was inflammatory and he knew it. But then again this is where my "flirtatious gender war" theory comes in, How else can he make his presence known but to make sure to irritate the ladies in the Women forum. You know what they say, men make the clouds hang over their heads and when it rains they complain about it. By the way this is by no means an invitation for gender war....it's sooooo passe...so don't knock me. salamz
  11. THe best thing to do is drink lots of water if the problem is rooted in bloating. If it's not then perhaps the best solution is for you to tighten your abs (just like you preparing for a punch on the stomach). Work on your abs as you watch tv or when you're walking. If you constrict your ab muscles you will get a flatter tummy. But don't forget that you also have to eat healthy food and work out. Or else it'll be a sisyphean task. Good luck sis Salamz
  12. If, When, How, Why? These are all questions we must answer on an individual basis when it comes to wearing makeup. So far there is no hadith that deals with this issue specifically because in truth it's not something that can bring down or destroy your imam (depending on the circumstances). But let's face it, IT IS something that one wears to attract the eye of people might they be men or women. It's something that is Extensively used by western women to advertise themselves it's a unique characteristics of kaafir woman, in which case it is not permissible because it involves imitating them. In truth I feel that Makeup itself is as superficial as the layers of that goowy stuff called foundation. Does it make you feel good when you wear it ? Then by all means go for it and enjoy the feeling and that surge in confidence. But Au naturel is always the best way to go. When asked about makeup this is what Imam Muhammad al-Saalih ibn ‘Uthaymeen Making herself beautiful for her husband is one of the things that a woman should do. The more beautiful a woman looks for her husband, the more that will make him love her and that will create harmony between them. This is one of the objectives of sharee’ah, so if the makeup makes her look more beautiful and does not harm her, there is nothing wrong with that. Salamz
  13. I don't know about this topic ....sounds like y'all talking about the G spot... i might be wrong but enlighten me plz. Where is that "special" place and if it does exists what are guys waiting for in order to trigger that? Salamz
  14. It was a wonderful experience! I loved the incredible turnout and hopefully we all got one resolution to keep the whole year. I loved the dynamic and zestful presentation of Imam Zaid shakir (surely 50cent ain't worth a dime if he doesn't repent lol). I was in awe of the details of the linguistic miracle of the quran from Shk Hamza Yusuf (it was beautifully and so eloquently delivered). And of course, the soulful and sometimes comical delivery of the "heart" from Imam Moktar, I loved his feelings for the words. Unfortunatly, I missed Tariq Ramadan's presentation which i was so looking forward to. Can you guys tell me how it was on friday? Hope each one who attended had a wonderful time as I did and maybe we'll have it at the skydome as Imam Zaid proclaimed. salamz
  15. The Palestinian discourse was inflamed like no other by Mr Said and I think the Pro-Zionist in this world are breathing a sigh of relief. His colossal contribution on this subject will never be forgotten by Arabs whether they be Christian or Muslims. salamz
  16. It's water under the bridge, pleople make mistakes, I think we should let him be and let bigones be bigones. WE are the better women and we should let a sleeping dog lie. salamz
  17. "Aqrabu maa yakoonu al-'abdu min rabbihi 'azza wa jalla wa huwa saajid, fa akthir ad-du'aa." "The closest a slave ever is to his Lord is when he is in prostration, so make much supplication." Muslim & others. I shall certainly include him in my prayers insh'allah. Salamz
  18. Maybe You're just in a state of contemplation, or perhaps you’re just feeling low about the imminence of death and that sense of foreboding that comes with it. After all, what you have witness is not a small feat but rather a life-altering situation. The silent mode happens to all of us and we stir out of it after a while when we find something worthwhile. Hopefully, you’ll find the answer to your predicament soon because we aren’t meant to be stoic and rubber-like in a our daily existence. A Renewed zest for life is exactly what you need. Salamz
  19. Let's drop these overblown Clichés Mr Ego. All I got from your post was an unbearable soliloquy of Me this Me that. Sounds like you're trying to sell some overdue Goods, or shall I say expired goods. Brotha, for all I care, you might be a Rocket scientist, and surely I wouldn't be salivating after you like you professed those desperate girls are doing incessantly. Remember you ask for what you can offer. And if you are offering a pitiful piece of paper to those gullible girls , then sir, by all means stuff them down their throat. A truely equal relationship is based on Quid Pro Quo anything less is pathetic.I despise more than anything when humans are reduced to biological determinism where you call on NATURE to decide (extensively) your social role. Man is not the only provider as you might believe, if that was the case, millions of families wouldn't be starving while the men are stroking their inflated stomachs. To wrap things up, good luck with all those girls flocking to you like the paparazzi, i'm sure they're not after that useless degree or the less than desirable looks of yours, but more like that generous heap of sir John A. Macdonal you have under your bed. salamz
  20. Seems to me like most boys are trying too hard to undermine the opposite sex without giving credit where it’s due. The Slick Rick wannabes with the Hay Afros should at least have the decency to applaud their counterparts instead of calling on baseless accusations. In this particular case, I was highly offended by the likes of Common and his childish remark about lesbos. The least you could have done is to admit your shortcomings. Maybe you hyperventilate like an old madam when a woman of character is at your presence and you saw it fit to accuse her of sexual perversity. In any case, we can’t equate education with noble character, because many people with higher degrees turn out to be oafs. The best among us are the ones who realize their faults and work on improving them instead of polishing their “intimidation” skills. (As if that will ever get you anywhere). Whichever the case may be, I doubt, the international relation and computer phase II classes can help us become good parents, partners or citizens. To each his own. salamz
  21. Once again I see the age old political debate is regurgitated in the forum, but let me remind one and all that while we're at each other's throat the raw-meat-eating ethopians are planning their next attack. Divide and conquer is their strategy and as far as I can tell they're the only ones winning this battle. So while somalis warlords are chewing their Khat in their toothless jaws and talking about BOLITICS, Ethopia is sucking their worthless blood. Although the evils committed were not at the hand of ethopians, it's no secret that that they ARE profiting from all this. They will be the triumphant scavengers in the end if things continue this way. salamz
  22. I HATE more than anything in this world seeing Drag queens and homos assimilated in this society. I HATE going hungry because i can't find anything Halal nearby when i'm starving and i have to be content with a salad. I HATE people assuming just because we're immigrants we're not smart enough, people with their condescending attitudes irkes me. I HATE the fact that in all levels of this society we will never succeed financially unless we break our values and principals in one way or another or to some extent (in respect to dealing with riba). Solution? Get an education and go back home where we can have the long withheld breath of relief. Salam
  23. The answer should be obvious, I'll clone myself, One of me is not enough. In fact my clone will be my official stand-in, i'll sleep and she'll go to work, and do all the undesirable stuff i'll never want to do. FINALLY a cure to my chronic exhaustion. After all, we, at one point in our lives, hoped for someone to take our place, like for instance the movie multiplicity. Salam
  24. Excellent read! Thank you for sharing it with us. Salam
  25. Despite the HUGE selection of nonsense topics in these forums, people are still exchanging ideas and talking about what they think is of upmost importance in their minds. In the end, I think that's the important thing. Who are we to criticize? But certainly when it comes down to some site bashing our religion it's a duty to each and everyone one of us to either fight it, instruct in the form of advice or simply ignore them**. If i see a topic that i do not particularly care for i just don't bother to respond..simple as that...no need to belittle or insult people to make oneself seem better . No need to adopt a holier than thou attitude coz it only contributes to creating animosity among us. So it all depends how you use the site...whether you post your pics or some weird topics, that's what this place is here for.....first and foremost to have a share of the net where you can say your piece. **"He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue; and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart and that is the least of faith." In this case we can only give advise and exchange good words of wisdom or just keep silent!! Salam
