  1. LOL @ OG_Girl You are right walaal... your right to be heard does not automatically include your right to be taken seriously. So to speak of free speech. Sad it is though, our fella nomad Otali has to suffer for speaking against the believes of the establishment. Anyways, don't worry about Abdilaahi Yusuf, he has a dismal track record. Just make sure you fight for your Og*denia and make sure he doesn't sell you and your cause (if he still hasn't that is) behind closed doors.
  2. "Alwaqt al thaaye3" hmmm! whatever that means... waxaad tidhiba lagu yidhi lol naah, I understand what you mean, but I have a day off tomorrow so I am just killing time. Hey, you are more patriotic then me, I am just a parttimer you know.
  3. Somali Enclave Voices Hostility To New President HARGEISA, Somalia (Reuters) - Somalia's most stable region, the breakaway Somaliland enclave, expressed opposition on Tuesday to new Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf, underscoring its hostility to a man long seen as the territory's arch foe. The enclave on the Gulf of Aden declared independence from anarchic Somalia in 1991 and has since enjoyed relative peace, but is unrecognised internationally. The Somaliland government warned Yusuf, a warlord elected head of state on Sunday by lawmakers at peace talks held in Kenya, against any attempted aggression and said it was on alert against any move to reunite Somaliland with the rest of Somalia. "Any claim on Somaliland territory as part of the jurisdiction of Somalia will be seen as naked aggression and direct interference on Somaliland territory," Information Minister Abdillahi Mohamed Du'ale said in a statement. "We call on frontline states, the African Union, European Union, United States and the international community to find a solution for saving Somaliland and Somalia from direct confrontation, which might bring about instability in the Horn (of Africa) region." The territory of 3.5 to 4.5 million won independence from Britain in 1960 and quickly joined neighbouring ex-Italian Somalia in the south and east to form a united republic. But an uprising against Somali dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in the 1980s was followed by years of devastation as he turned his forces against the northwestern enclave. When Siad Barre fled the country in 1991, Somaliland split away. The rest of Somalia slid into lawlessness and clan-based factional conflict which is still continuing. In recent years Yusuf has been the political boss of Somalia's region of Puntland, which neighbours Somaliland to the east. He is unpopular in Somaliland because Puntland and Somaliland have fought sporadic clashes for years over the ownership of several eastern areas of Somaliland claimed by Puntland's leaders as their own, on the basis of ethnicity. Yusuf's election was the culmination of a two-year peace conference between warlords and clan elders mainly from south and central parts of Somalia as well as from Puntland. Somaliland officials played no part in the gathering. While the aim is to end the violence in Somalia, there is a tacit understanding among delegates that a new Mogadishu government, provided it can survive, will open talks with Somaliland to try to define their future relationship. Feisal Ali Warabe, chairman of Somaliland's opposition Justice and Welfare Party, said he expected Yusuf's election to open a new chapter of conflict in Somalia. "It is shocking to see that two years of efforts and expenses by the international community has ended with the election of a warlord instead of a man of peace," he said.
  4. Somaliland warns Somalia's leader The breakaway republic of Somaliland has said it will use force if its borders are threatened after the election of Somalia's new president. Abdullahi Yusuf was elected on Sunday to head Somalia's first government after 13 years of civil war. Somaliland, which has declared its independence, is fiercely opposed to Mr Abdullahi who claims two regions within Somaliland belong to Somalia. Warning But in Somaliland, independent for 13 years but without any international recognition, the election of Mr Adullahi has not been well received. The region has refused to participate in the peace process in neighbouring Kenya and has reiterated its sovereignty. "We remind all concerned that the government and the president elected in Kenya is for Somalia and not Somaliland," Information Minister Abdillahi Mohamed Du'ale said in a statement. According to the BBC's Husein Ali Nuur in Hargeisa, the Somaliland government has urged the international community to find a solution to the problem of Somaliland before there is any confrontation. "The people of Somaliland and its government are ready to confront any enemy that tries to violate its borders and territory with force," Mr Du'ale said. Before his election, Mr Abdullahi was president of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland. Both Puntland and Somaliland claim the border regions of Sool and Sanaag and clashed over the territory last month. Meanwhile, Puntland's former vice-president, Mohammed Abdi Haashi, has been sworn as president of the region. He has promised to work with the proposed new Somali government.
  5. Suldanka, read my lips your Somaliland can do very little against President Yusuf, because Somali's want him, from Badoa, Afgoye, Jowhar, Galkacyu, Kismayu, the whole of Gedo, were celebrating and still are celebrating the election. I remember back in 2000 when Cabdiqasim was elected. He had few weeks of honeymoon, recieved congratulatory letters and phone calls from the Arabs and Africa. The UN recognised him, the African Union wellcomed him, not to mention Egypt and the Arab League And there were celeberations all over Somalia (Proper) including Puntland. Everything seemed to be running so smoothly and Abdiqasim Salaad Xassan was looking ahead the next 3 years from his own perspective. Seem there are parallels here so far? Sxb, what you may "wished" and what is "reality" are too different things. The problems that lie ahead are too many too big, disarming the freelance melitias, or the strongly opposed warlords, and the powerful and independent business Conflictpunuers (Remember the Banana war) and what have you... oh I forgot what was the name of that Warlordette hotel owner? This is only the tip of the ice-berg. It may seem small on paper, but very very big in reality. All that coupled with the dilema clanism and its related issues.... not to mention about the issue of Somaliland is completely a different story. Sxb, are you out of your mind? Cabdilaahi Yusuf, the man that once got kicked out of Bosaaso and Garoowe before the Ethiopians came to his aide?
  6. LOL@SmithNwestern, Bro, the world is sick and tired of the Somalis. Even if Satan came along and said he was the president of Somalia, they would support that. We are sick of it too... but only that if they left us alone, we would have extended our outmost support to anything you choose as a president. why concentrate of Ethiopia? You know why... Cuz it is the only country that had actively both politically and militarily that had involved itself into the Somali affair for so long. And it has a deep and vested in interests. Shouldn't we discuss about that, or we burry it under the carpet? enjoying your honeymoon btw?
  7. Originally posted by HornAfrique: Abdulahi Yusuf is known for using and bringing Xabashas in Somali affairs , Cimrigaaga oo raaga geel dhalaayana waa ku tusaa... HornAfrique, tell us more about it, it is very interesting story. but for those nomads who think that he will let them control Somalia are dead wrong! Abdilaahi Yusuf, anything is possible, anything. The man who went on Italian national TV and urged America to bomb Shimbiraale with its B52? What you can not deny is that, the Ethiopians have a deep vested interest in putting this man there. And if you think Abdilaahi Yusuf just became a President, you are dead wrong. Ethiopia had played a lions share in his election and Ethiopia expects a lot of things in return, whatever those things maybe remains to be seen. He refused to hang the Ethiopian flag over Goldogob, and instead hanged the Somali one, although he was in the most vulnerable position at that time. When you guys bring this cheap and shameful incident as a "prove" of his Somalinimo, don't you also ask the downside of it, shameful part of it? It seems as if you are comparing him to other people who brought the Ethiopian flag and hang it on a Somali soil? What I also wonder is that, who else, wouldn't refuse that? Do you guys ever asked yourselves why the Xabashi would require him to do that in the first place? I give a hint; Dameerka waxa dusha looga rarta waa habeednimoda. They were just testing him how far he would go with his "YES - MAN" mentality. Even the Italian representative clearly on a public press conference said all that was about Abdilaahi Yusuf. The Italian rep said famously "I am more Somali, then Abdilaahi Yusuf". Abdulahi Yusuf will probably use the Xabasha to further his interest (which I strongly disapprove of) Everybody knows that there is a "matual" interest from both sides of the relationship. Abdilaahi Yusuf's interest is well known, what is remains to be known is the "interest" of the other party, which still is a secret. But we can understand if we put our heads to good use and keep the emotions out. Here is a list of possible interests that the Ethiopians may have: Shortterm interest: desmantling Al-Itihad (Terrorism), keeping Somalia in turmoil, or having a puppet regime in Somalia Longterm interest: The Og*den region, and to see a weak Somalia And there maybe others that I can not think of at the moment... In the shorterm interest, they have the option now of a puppet regime installed in Somalia. And for the longterm, the Ethiopians also want the Og*den region as theirs without any disputes from the Somalia side, and further they want to keep Somalia weak. In that respect, the Ethiopians have achieved their shorterm goal of having a puppet regime there, what remains to be seen/known is whether Cabdilaahi Yusuf also had stike secret deals on the Kilka-5aad. One of the better reasons is now that Ethiopia has gotten one of their men in power, the chance of it supporting seccessionist treasonist entities is diminished I think, Abdilaahi Yusuf would have been more dangious to Somaliland had he not been elected. That is the wide spread perception of the Somaliland people. We will of course wait and see.
  8. lol@NGONGE Neither Og Girl nor me have the credentials required to be a warlord or warlord kal-kaal. nice try but If there is anyone whom the credit is going to, it's Marwo Rahima.
  9. "They jailed him for that because he would not allow their flag on Somali soil during the SSDF" That was during Mengistu's Dergue government, Meles Senaawi's a different story. OG Girl, Nice to hear that from you walaalo or inaabti. See, as you said we have a lot of things in common. We have plenty of middleground that we can play and have fun. Here in Australia we have a song that goes: YOU, ME, WE ARE ALL AUSTRALIANS... now we are all Somalis.
  10. Mobb_Deep Ina Riyaale aside, you do agree Ethiopia's big fish was Somalia right? And with their man installed there as the President, they are technically in control. OG Girl, I was wondering what was so uneasy about you all long. Hey, you as an Oga*denian and me as a Somalilander, we can get along. cheer up. Hey Raxima, Very much appreciated your efforts in trying to educate the nomads. You are a source of inspiration.
  11. Where is Otali? Was he included in the "cafis" dubbed "FANTASIYAHA AABE Cabdulaahi Yusuf"?

  14. Nationalist The result reflects Member Parliamenterians who mostly do not even represent anyone (read so called North *** ). As they say, you put in chunk, you get out chunk! SmithNwestern, It is all roses, then, don't you say? The warlords are all happy and Salaad Booy is extending a helping hand to his sworn nemesis, the architect of his downfall. Got it
  15. SnW Hobyonet are sore at the loss of the election speaking of feeling sore, I think they are not alone. However right now the respected members of Mogadishu clans are competing for the PM post I don't think that is enough... So forget about recognition son. Its too little to late. I beg to differ. Somaliland has never had a better chance.

  19. Of all peoples in the world (not just Somalis) this is the last man you would say will bring Somaliland... not a chance. Actually, I think Somaliland has more reasons today then ever before. Anyways, I am quite surprised at how things unfolded, I was expecting exactly the opposite to happen. A third hand must have been involved.
  20. Seems like the H*wiye are reassessing their tactics. Too many candidates means very small distribution of votes. I think Abdilaahi Yusuf's impressive result in the first round will haunt him in the upcoming second and third rounds. Because now he is the man to beat.
  21. Editorial from the Somaliland Times If there were a competition about the whereabouts of the most evil characters in the world today, Imbagathi, Kenya would win such a competition hands down, because that is where many Somali warlords, thugs and crooks are assembled to form a government for Somalia. But among these wretched lot, Col. Abdillahi Yusuf stands out. It is not that he is more brutal or crooked than many of the warlords and psuedo-politicians meeting in Imbagathi. Where he differs from many of the warlords in Imbagathi is that he had nursed the fantasy of lording it over Somalis longer than any of them. Therefore, his fantasy is more destructive and unachievable. One can call it a fantasy because there is very little likelihood that Somalis, other than some of his *****ten kinsmen, would allow the ageing colonel to rule them. Even among his fellow *****ten threre are more opposed to him than support him. Neither is his cynical attempt to use the ***** card working. The recent statements by Garad Abdiqani Garad Jama is proof enough. An ignorant dim-wit (jaahil raas marbud ah) the honorable Garad had called him in an interview, and the Garad was not revealing any secrets. It is something already known by many Somalis. A list of Col. Abdillahi Yusuf's crimes and depravities would be too long to list here, so we will only name a few: the murder of Abdirahman Aidid, the murder of Suldan Hurre and the trafficking in humans from the port of Bosaso. And that is not the only list. There is also the long list of the colonel's botched endeavors and dismal failures. He failed in the 1978 coup against Siyad Barre. He failed in leading the SSDF which prompted many of its members to surrender to Siyad Barre rather than submit to the colonel's tyranny. He failed in administering *****tenya which led to his ouster. With such a pitiful record, Col. Abdillahi Yusuf has been on-and-off in Kenya for the last two years, trying to use the gathering of Somali warlords and criminals to secure a high position that would give him international legitimacy. Since anything is possible in the murky world of warlord-infested Italian Somalia, Somalilanders should be vigilant about protecting their interests.
  22. The only thing the warlords seems to agree on besides of course their opposition to Somaliland, is that they all want to become the president of Somalia. And as we know only one warlord will be able to sit on that chair, and whether the rest of the warlords support that Warlord--turned-President remains to be seen. But I think, the last 14 or so years had thaught us sufficient insights on how a warlord thinks and behaves. Which is - "Cadaaw, ama ku cunay, ama ku ciideeyey".
