  3. The weapons that this ailing warlord imports now will still have detrimental effects on the average Somali long after he is gone. Lets face it, the bulk of the weapons that are flooded in the streets of every village and township, are the weapons and mines that Afweyne imported. Ayax tag oo eelna reeb As for eradicating anything, xataa hadii Col. Yey Dawladda Ethiopia ciidankeedu soo raaco, I don't think he would achieve much. Sxb Somali waa is taqaan. 5. The ReportPDF FILE The Monitoring Group has determined during the current mandate period that arms flows from Yemen to Somalia came not only from criminal groups (to BAM for purchase by the opposition) but also from the Government of Yemen directly to TFG . Using military aircraft (Antonov 26) to transport arms shipments from Aden, Yemen, to Bossaso, Puntland, in direct State support for TFG and President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, the Yemeni Air Force delivered arms on eight occasions between 2 and 10 July 2005. UN resolution 733... [set out in resolution 733 (1992), the arms embargo on Somalia prohibits financing of all acquisitions and deliveries of weapons and military equipment. It also prohibits the direct or indirect supply to Somalia of technical advice, financial and other assistance, and training related to military activities.] What is the use of it, if it isn't being enforced?

  8. Interesting analysis there Tolstoy. No doubts, at all, that this represents a significant development in regards to US policy towards the region in general and to Somaliland/Somalia in particular. The US seems to have finally shown some interest on this issue. Perhaps the State Department sees Somaliland as a perfect fit for its Foreign Policy towards Africa in general and to this region in particular, when it comes to fighting terrorism, democratic practices, humanrights issues and good governance. Somaliland already enjoyed a friendly hand from the EU and the UN seems to have finally come to its senses (Addressing the "Somaliland issue" is on top of the agenda for the new Kofi Anan representative for Somalia/Somaliland). Also, the African Union seems to have finally takens a more friendlier stance towards us. I say, the puzzle is finally coming together, finally.
  9. Wasiirka Maaliyada Iyo Maareeyaha Dekedda Berbera Oo Hargeysa, October 3, 2005 (Haatuf) – Wasiirka Maaliyada Cawil Cali Ducaale iyo Maareeyaha Dekeda Berbera Ing. Cali Ibraahim Xoor-xoor ayaa maanta safar kedis ah ugu baqoolay dalka Itoobiya, ka dib markii martiqaad rasmiya ay ka heleen dawlada Itoobiya, kaas oo isla xukuumadaasi diyaarad khaas ah u soo direyso labadan masuul. Sida la sheegay labada masuul casuumadani axay la xidhiidhaa go’aan ay dawladda Itoobiya bishii September 29-keedii soo saartay, kaas oo hawlaha dawlada Itoobiya farayey in wixii alaabo ah ay kala soo degaan dekeda Berbera ee dalkan Somaliland. Amuurtan oo labada xukuumadood badhtamihii sannadkan Heshiis ka wada saxeexdeen, kaas oo wefti heer wasiir ahi dabayaaqadii Bishii May booqasho ku yimi caasimadan Hargeysa, wakhtiga heshiiskaas labada xukuumadood kala saxeexdeenoo qayb ka ahaa mashruucii la odhan jirey (Berbera Corridor) iyo iskaashiga kastamada labada dawladood, mushruucaas oo hirgelintiisa mudaba lagu hawlanaa ayaa imika la filayaa in qumaati shaqadiisii u bilaabanto. Dhinaca dalka Itoobiya waxay soo dhamaysay jidka isku xidha Wajaale iyo Jig-jiga. Waxa kale oo la sheegay in wakaalada xooga korontada Itoobiya ay laydh gelintii soo gaadhsiisay magaalada Wajaale. Waxa kale oo iyana socota shaqo Wajaale lagaga samaynayo Isgaadhsiin iyo furitaanka Bangi madax-banaan oo laga furo Wajaale dhinaca Itoobiya, Bangigaas oo dalka Itoobiya laga leeyahay loona isticmaali-doono hawlaha ganacsi ee labada dal ka socda. Dhinaca dalkan Somaliland, waxa ka jira tabaabusho lagu balaadhinayo laguna dayactirayo jidka laamiga ah. Waxa kaloo caasimada Hargeysa jeexday wadooyin waaweyn oo loogu talo-galay gaadiidka xamuulka ah ee shixnadaha u daabulaya dalka Itoobiya, kaas oo xilligan la filayo inuu soo furmi doono. Dalka Itoobiya oo ay ku nool yihiin dad ka badan 80 milyuun, 90% alaabooyinka dibada uga yimaada waxay ugu soo degi jireen dalka Djibouti. Dhinacan Somaliland waxa sannadadii ina dhaafey u soo maray tabaneeyo Markab oo sida cunto gargaar ah oo ururka EU-du ku caawisay dadka ku nool Itoobiya, kaas oo gaadiidka reer Somaliland u daabuli jireen gudaha Itoobiya. Xiligan waxa la filayaa in gaadiidka laga leeyahay Itoobiya uu ka hawl-geliyo daabulka shixnadaha dekedda Berbera uga soo degi-doona hay’adaha Itoobiya.

  14. ^^You sure have a method to your nonesense Well, I think of the exact opposite is true. No doubts, the parliamentary elections are a huge success that will sway a lot of things in favoure of Somaliland. Lets face it, the donor countries could have spent billions of dollars to get any other war-ravaged country to where Somaliland is at, at the moment. I am sure there are a lot of experts puzzled by that.
  15. The official results will be anounced in a couple of days. But there are unofficial results already flying around. Latest (UnOfficial) results suggest that Kulmiye is ahead in a number of regions, namely Hargeisa, Togdheer and Sanaag. UDUB is taking the bulk of Awdal and Saxil seats. While UCID is currently in a surprise runner-up in most regions/districts. So far so good.

  18. ^^ Welcome back bro ... Tolstoy As always, adiga ayaa waxaan odhanlahaa oo dhan yidhaa, and I am left hmmm... well nice read. Xiinfaniin You know that "seceding" is not really the right word to use in reference to Somaliland's quest for independence. Somaliland has strong foundations for its case. It was a self administring country for sometime in late 1959, it gained its independence and was a recognised country in the UN - albeit short lived. It "united" with another country to form the Somali Republic. That country became a failed country and disintigrated. Somaliland declared to "restore" (Yes this is the right word) its former soveriegn status as an independent country. Since 1991 upto this minute, Somaliland has been achieving a milestone after a milestone, to show how it surely deserves to become an independent country. So now, I don't think there is ANY other "seceding part" in this world which can field such a strong argument and supporting facts for its case. "To me, the fact that SSC natives (or even a a secion of) didn't vote means that they don't want to secede from the Somali Republic. Why are you adamant about forcing your ideas onto them?" Of course there is always that 5% of any sample of interest that will oppose anything. Having difference of opinion and views is as natural as humans can get. Of course there are those that want to remain part of the now defunct Somalia. It happened in Eritrea, it happened in East Timor (21%voted against independence), and It also happened in Kosovo with its pro Serbia population etc etc. Somaliland is none different.
  19. ^you amaze me, sxb waxba ha is xiijin. Wixii run ahi waa run, wixii been ahi waa been. Allah knows best. Baashi Your argument holds little if no water. I don't think they are as sadistic as you want us to believe. Tell me about a perfect country where 10/10 are in agreement of everything, not least a country which borders a neighbor like we do? What I think they will realise is that, the elections have taken place in a very peaceful manner in the regions bordering the two normal neighboring countries (namely Djibouti and Ethiopia). They will also understand why the election took place in most of eastern Somaliland, with the acception of the only few districts that border that abnormal country. In the old days, Somaliland's major obstacle and the main problem that it faced was that it was not known very much. Today, however, its known the world over, not for civilwars, not for famine, not for any other negative news, but rather for making history in being the only unrecognised country in the world that has defied the odds, despite many obstacles (some coming from powerful countries like Italy, Egypt and others which did not want to see it succeed). Getting that name across and being known, was really "HALF THE BATTLE" when it comes to its quest for international recognition. Somaliland is now seen as a seperate entity that exists in the Horn of Africa. As for the other half of the battle, Somaliland has done a remarkable job in many aspects. Hence, Somaliland has enough political and diplomatical arsenal at its disposal to thwart off any unionist. All Somaliland awaits at the moment is for the African Union and other international community to delay nolonger its rightful recognition.

  23. ^^^LOL Puntland made a point about who is in charge of where It is not about Puntland being in charge of anywhere. Somaliland took the view of not putting its people at risk of conflict instagated by a brutal outside forces, that have no regards for the well being of the locals. With the acception of few places, all are going as planned. The polls are going smoothly in 15 polling stations in Eastern Sanaag, and further many more in Southern Sanaag. Not to mention the regional capital, Erigavo where people turned out in their thousands more then the previous elections. As for Sool region, again, the district of Xuddun with the acception of Xuddun village. Half of Laascaanood, and Caynaba district. All the areas that were planned for the election to take place. Some reports suggest that many Lascanod residents also casted their votes along side the people of Adhicadeye, which is just 30K away. In Lascanod district also, people voted in Hadhwanaag, Yagoori and Guumays. Caynabo district needs not to be mentioned for obvious reasons. In Buuhoodleh district, the vote is taking place 9 of the 11 vilages that come under. Again as planned. The few places which the election isn't taking place have already been discussed earlier by the parliament. There is a special law for how the seats of those places will be selected. 4 seats from the 12 seats reserved for SOOL region will not be contested. In Sanaag 2 seats of the 12 seats for that region will not be contested, and for Togdher 1 seat of the 15 seats will not be contested. All those seats that will not be contested which is a total of 7 seats, they will be shared by the Poltiical parties according to the law passed by the parliament. This is a victory for the unionists Regional experts think otherwise.
  24. ^^kkkkkkkkkk As people are predicting, this is a very very close elections. They say no single party will be able to recieve 51 majority lead. Which is good. Because say if Kulmiye gets 51% of the votes (42 seats), then it will go and impeach the president... If UDUB recieves 51%, then not much will change. But if all 3 parties recieve less than 51% each, then they have to work as coalition, if they want to do anything. Baashi Sxb, Somaliland will eventually recieve its hard earned recognition... that is an inevitable reality. The elections have been a blessing for the business community. Can you believe it an estimated 10 million dollars cash were flooded into the markets for the pass month. All that money going in into the hands of friends as bakhshiish and shaxaad. ah.. intee qof siyaasi ahi dadka danyarta ah uun dhacaayay. As for the polling, the only problem so far is the number of polling stations which is too small a number when you see the number of people that came out to vote. In all the regions, this was the only problem reported. "two steps ahead of Puntland " how economical
