Naxar Nugaaleed, Somaliland at the moment has three foundations that it needs to solidify and build on: 1. Peace 2. Freedom 3. Democracy Wixii intaa soo raaca "give/take" ayaa lagu xalinaya. In other words, we can always talk over and come to a common-ground.

Somaliland National TV reporter Moha Dahir and her crew who are part of a select media group officially granted access to cover the AU Meeting in Addis Abeba, had a breif interview with Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer This is what Jendayi said: Somali: “Annaga ayaa taageeraynay in Midowga Afrika u diro wefti culus oo qiimayn ku sameeya wada hadalna la yeesha shacbiga iyo dawladda Somaliland, annaga ayaana taas dhiiri gelinayna Midowga Afrikana ku duduucayna inay Somaliland u diraan wefti." source

Ah! a gorgeous day in Hargeisa.

Is it me or he said Somaliland (the British Protectorate) would have been Gaalo if it wasn't for us ( his tribe). I think he is basically his tribe should not play second fiddle to anyone considering their "glorious" history. He seems to be little bitter about Garowe, and for good reason, I believe. I don't think it is about bitterness or anything like that. It is more to do with "reality check" on the part of the folks from Laaska. Somaliland is their natural home. They are valued and respected and that they command an influential role within Somaliland not Puntland. In essense, I think this is something that those who are living in the "wishful" world need to take a serious note off. I also agree with Mr. Khaawi's assertion that, the Somaliland caravan is moving full steam ahead and that the Laaska folks risk a strategic mistake if they miss out on this.

An interesting new development. One of the most prominent leaders from Buuhoodleh, Elder Mahamed Mamamuud Ahmed(Khaawi) has spoken out against the "dibin-daabyoda" Puntland ku doonayso inay Reer Lascaanood dagaal aan faaiido lahayn ku galiso. Khaawi [ you need Windows Media Player to replay]

^^ LOL I once watched a documentary about the history of "Patents". It started off talking about the 1900 century Patents Office in the British Empire. The presenter quoted that the head of the Patents Office in London was so overwhelmed by the number of Patents in the record books which he had to overseer, to the extent that he exclaimed "There is no more inventions in the world, almost everything has been invented". There were less than 1 million records in the book he wsa keeping. Today, IBM alone lodges an average 20,000 Patents every single year. My point is, don't be like that Officer. Invention is literally limitless. Just scratch your head a little, you never know what the human brain is capable of.

^^ Laa xawla walaa quwah... Is this a normal Hewlett-Packard Office Printer?? Whenever I heard that a "money making" factory exists in Bosaso I always thought of a big-bad-a$$ factory. Never a cheap Office Printer that can be found on every corner of the world. ------- Lets calculate if this is worth doing: A 1 thousand Somalia Shilling note currently has a value (in Bosaso Markets): 100USD = 2,500,000 shillings 1USD = 25,000 shillings Hence, 1000 shillings = 1/25 USD or 0.04 cents of a US Dollar A bundle of 500 RELEX A4 paper is probably worth around $5USD or (12,500,000 million shillings). Hence, each 1USD is worth around 100 sheets of plain A4 paper Or in Somali shilling terms: Every 25,000 shillings is worth 100 A4 sheets. So, according to the picture you provided above, each A4 paper can have 3 notes of (1000 shillings). Which means, 100 A4 sheets of plain paper can theoritically have a maximam of 300 notes of 1000 shillings ( Or 30,000 shillings). Remember, 100A4 sheets is worth 25,000 shillings each!!! From this calculations, printing Somalia shillings on A4 paper gives you a margin of 5,000 shillings for every 100A4. If you add the electricity costs, HP colour print costs, labour costs, and transport costs, I am sure the person who is engaged in this business will be on a deficit.

I think those Col. Yey supporters are better off keeping their mouth closed otherwise they will always be bulldozed like this guy.

Somaliland frees Puntland Pows — Puntland Vows to Retake Las Anod City
Suldaanka replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Good!!! I heard this was suggested by the fella countrymen from Laaska when President Daahir Riyaale was touring the USA and UK. Also, there was a delegation of prominent leaders from Laaska, led by Mudane Qaybe, that visited Col. Dayr in prison few weeks back. There was some sort of agreement between these leaders and Col. Dayr and hopefully we will soon see Col. Dayr joining the effort with other SOOL leaders to make the region a more peaceful and prosperous place. Already, Laaska people are enjoying a total weapons BAN on the streets - something even the Siyad Barre regime couldn't achieve. Police-men/women armed with only sticks are donig rounds on the streets. And for the first time since 1991, a working Courts System has been stablished. All Government buildings are refurbished and Government offices are working. Somaliland Bank has opened its first branch to encourage people to use the more stable currency (SLSH). New Telcommunication companies have opened up. There is a lot to be done but so far its on the right track. Again, it shows that Somaliland is willing to listen to its citizens whether they are abroad or in the country. Kudos to Ina Riyaale! -
In a recent interview with VOA, the bed-ridden warlord Col. Yey accused Somaliland of being part of a the "Asmara based Group" and said that Somaliland was supporting that group both in kind and in material. Knowing that, the two customers who buy this "Argagaxiso" card, namely Ethio and US, will laugh at this old dying warlord's remarks. If anything we can drawn from it, it is either: 1. He is officialy approached Asasaq-time. And this might lend credit to the rumours that his doctors had recently adviced the warlord to wear oldmen's nappies b/c he can no longer control what comes out of his behind when nature calls. 2. Or is gone completely crazy. Badha-badha waa yeelan jiray boqol jir waashay Either way, this is a very un-normal and desperate warlord who sees the end of the road for his phantom foreign-installed genocidical regime.

Nayruus, Somaliland's foreign policy in reality never got off the ground until Dahir Riyaale named Dr. Edna Adan as the the Foreign Minister of Somaliland. Dr. Edna Adan oversaw the complete overhauling of the Foreign Policy shift in which Somaliland was undertaking since Year 2004. The fruits of that policy shift was the arrival of the African Union fact finding mission led by the Deputy Chairman of the organisation, Patrick Mazimhaka. After, Mr. Patrick Mazimhaka prepared a complete and comprehensive Report on Somaliland. In that report, the Fact Finding mission made some very clear and very precise points on the way forward inasfaras dealing with the "Outstanding case" of Somaliland is concerned. It explicitly argues that, Somaliland's case is "Special" and "that it should not be linked to the notion of 'opening pandora's box'". The Report was widely distributed among the African Head of States and it recieved a huge support from "key" African states. The issue about Somaliland today is not about whether it is legit or not, that is very well acknowleged by everyone, but it is an issue in which politics is the only barrier. And that is currently where it stands. Daahir Riyaale's visit to the USA and UK is part of breaking down these political barriers.

One simple fact that these so called "Northerners for Unity" group has forgotten is that they are part of a small insignificant "pro unity" minority within the wider Somaliland populace. And let me remind them also that a minority can not shape nor change the course of the overwhelming majority who are in favour to re-instituting their lost soveriegnty.

^Well done to rer Borama. Very inspirational people. Indeed, "United" not only will we build roads but a whole nation from the ground up.

North, There is enough clues for anyone to release the direction the wind is blowing. But it seems as though the "occupation supporters" choosed to ignore and instead as usual hope that some devine intervention will somehow fall from the skies and prevent what is bound to take place. Somaliland's recogntion is not a matter of "If" but is a matter of "When". Of course what we know publicly is just the "tip of the ice-burg" when compared to the wide ranging issues that SL delegation discussed with their counterparts in Washington. Among those issues discussed include the proposed AFRICOM, USAID projects among other topics. The reception accorded to the delegation was on par with the kind of reception accorded to any other foreign dignitary. It was beyond the expectations of Somalilanders. And also the fact that the delegation used Somaliland's own Passports is very encouraging. As for our domestic policking, Daahir Riyaale is surely on the upswing in the popularity rating in Hargeisa. The UDUB Government is on an election winner if it continues with these positive strides that it was undertaking in the pass 6 months. It so seems that they had been saving all this to coincide with the Election Year.

I want the Odayaasha Golaha like Dr, Odweyne and Baashi to give their frank take on this. The usual yap-yappers of the likes of "me" and "Nayruus" and these days "Duke and Co." please stay away.

President Daahir Riyaale's tour to the UK and the USA cements the continued push by Somalilanders to gain their rightful and well-deserved recognition from the leaders of the International community. For starters, this current visit by Daahir Riyaale, marks a historic milestone in the long quest by Somaliland to put its case on the forefront international diplomatic circles. And hence, kick start the process which will eventually lead to fruitation in as far as Somaliland's recogition by the international community is concerned. This visit also marks a new chapter between the USA and Somaliland, in that for the first time the USA is committed to engaging Somaliland directly without any strings attached to the new-found relationship. Many of the naysayers here in SOL praded like a headless chicken by mis-interpretting the diplomatic-lingua coded press breifing by the State Department. This quote below marks the core of the issue at hand and it seems that it is very hard for the "nay-sayers" to swallow and digest it. Quote: There's no change in our policy position vis-à-vis recognition of Somaliland. We are not on the verge of recognizing Somaliland. There's a process underway that the AU is engaged in and we are going to be watching very closely that situation, but there's no change in our policy: End Quote Two things is learned from the above quote: 1. That the US Policy towards Somaliland has not changed 2. That the US is "very closely" following the AU led process In the first point, the United States policy as published here clearly states the following Quote: "Our policy on recognition is to allow the African Union to first deliberate on the question. We do not want to get ahead of the continental organization on an issue of such importance.": End Quote. Of course, as far as Somaliland is concerned, that is very understandable. But what Somaliland is interested in is for the US to put pressure on the AU "to fast-track the process" as was published by the Somalialnd Foreign Ministery in this Press Release. Hence, that was the whole reason why Daahir Riyaale visited Washington DC. In the second point, we have the US acknowleding the existance of an “AU led process” in regards to Somaliland’s recogntion. And that the US is "very closely" watching. In diplomatic terms, when a country is “closely” following an event, it means that there is a "huge interest”. Thus, there is no doubts that the US will be involved in "behind-the-scenes" talks with the AU in relation to “fast-tracking” the recognition process. That said, it seems the “nay-sayers” and the “Xabashi occupation supporters” have either lost the compass on this or they are completely fooling themselves about the realities on the gruond. I quite frankly laughed hard at the sort of headlines published by websites run by the “xabashi occupation supporters”. ----------

^^Nin daad qaaday xunbo cuskay. Listen adeer, you can author whatever rabish and post it here and rabber-stamp it yourself to confirm that its a real story and lets see how far you go with it. ha ku macaanaato sxb.

^^That is a silly question. I don't think Dayr Cabdi Iska-Toos, the deputy commander of Puntland melitia who is behind bars now in Burco, is a civilian. Neither is Xiif Cali Taar, Puntland Navy Commander, who was wounded in the 15 Oct 2007. If these are civilians, then you can please teach us what you term as a non-civilian in your world?
-
^^ Think about it, marka dagaalka lagaga adkaado kuwa Puntland ayaa waxa dhacda two things: 1. Puntland administration accuses of ICU and Alshabaab being behind it 2. Puntland supporting website all of a sudden report rapes, theft, killings of civilians and etc. Somaliland was in the region for a long time. And all this time, people came to recognise Somaliland as a very professional (in Somali terms) army which keeps its distance from civilian affairs and in most cases engages in mediating and peace making efforts. Again, Mr. "Me", 'If it doesn't fit, you must acquit'. I know you are very desperate as of recently. Xaalkaagu waa "Wixii aad ku ciil bixi kartaaba waa kuu cawo iyo ayaan".
