Lois, In as far as Somaliland is concerned, You need someone, preferably from within the family, to genuinely tell you that the people have moved on. Hadii ay kaa dagi waydo, waa in laguugu dhaartaa.

Those who were fed the false propaganda for too long that they were being attacked by another clan and etc etc. But today, these people have seen it all through and through and they know the facts. And its b/c of those facts that these people have come out to join their fella Somalilanders accross the nation to celebrate this great day of ours. As for those Garbage-Collectors, we look forward to the day they too, join the family and live peacefully happily ever after. In any case, it is a good start for Laaska folks. Hopefully there is more in the offing for 26th of June celebrations.

^^ LOL Do share with us what sort of history books you have been reading? B/c in my books, all the land grabbings was a one-way-traffic. Sidi-sidiidaada mooye dhul u dhacaaga hubsu, Caamirow. Mr. Marcus, Your post reminded me of a "call to duty" made by well known poet Mahamud Jama "Daallin". Abwaan Mahamud is from the clan of Eastern Burao. And in those days, the clans of Western Burao were in a land-grabbing frenzy and were conquering lands from neigbouring clans left, right and centre. The clans of either banks of the Togdheer river, namely Eastern and Western Burco, are friendly rivals at almost everything. Feeling left out of the conquest, Poet Mahamud composed the following poem telling his Suldaan the following. Dohda Siraw duggii Faafan iyo degeladii Dhiito Habaryonis way durugsatee Doollo malahayne Dalal iyo haddaa reer Ugaas deriso qaateene Dalkii aragte qayrkeenna waakaa Dannood tegaye Dayrtiyo diraacdaba miyaan Doox la qabanaynin Dixiyaa Madheedhka leh miyaan Debec la geyneynnin Intaad Daba Wareeg iyo Yanqarax dib ugu guureyso Miyaan Ina Ducaaloow Nugaal daniba kaa haynnin English: Siraw's gully, the warmth of Faafan and the open plains of Dhiito Doollo never belonged to West-Burco kinsmen, but they pushed out. And the Dalal and Rer Ugaas clansmen choosed peace over war You see the country oh Suldaan, our peers are in Dannood!! Are we taking the family to Doox this coming rainy season? Isn't Debec gonna taste the sweetness of fruits on banks of the dryrivers? Isn't Nugaal in your Maps, dear Suldan Ducaale?? Following Abwaan Mahamud's poem, the clans of Eastern Burco captured the upper Nugaal areas including Cayn district, Garadag District and BuurDhaab and Oog villages. These events ignited the well known Guba Poems. Those were the days when the clans were fighting and the game was zero-sum - winner takes all - looser walks empty handed. Like Qamaan Bulxan said: Indinkuba darkii Caynaba ayaa Daris ku taaline, Dagaalama nin doorkkii la laa duubcadkii Hgare Ama na daaya waa wada Qabnaa Daawasho iyo ceebe Those were the old days. That said, Mr. Marcus, today is a different game. Today, it is not about zero-sum game. It is about creating a multi-clan Somaliland where every clan is equal before the rule or law. Somaliland was built on consensus and understanding between the many clans that live there. It is that reason why Somaliland is thriving and peaceful. Sool and Eastern Sanaag are part and parcel of Somaliland territory. Somaliland will not force anyone to stay or move out. That is something the indivitual himself/herself will decide whether they want to stay or move on.

San Antonio Convention 2008 Somaliland discusses oil exploration investments with oil executives in Texas Awdalnews Network= DALLAS, TX, 26 April 2008--Somaliland Minister Water and Mineral Resources, Qassim Sh. Yussuf Ibrahim, left here today after several visit to San Antonio, Texas, aimed at attracting foreign investors for Somaliland’s potential oil explorations, and other untapped mineral resources, on the sidelines of an international petroleum convention. The visit comes on the heels of Minister’s announced on April 11, 2008 of the completion of the geophysical surveys of oil prospects in its onshore and offshore areas by the Norwegian TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (“TGS”), raising hopes for significant foreign investment to Somaliland. “The Ministry is excited about completion of the TGS geophysical surveys and looks forward to bringing substantial foreign investment to Somaliland,” the statement concluded,” Ibrahim said at the time in a press statement a copy of which was sent to Awdalnews Network. The TGS completed an on-shore program of 34,600 kilometers of aeromagnetic data and a 2D seismic survey of offshore Somaliland, consisting of 5,100 KM of modern seismic data. Both data programs are currently being processed for an international bid round planned for late 2008. In March 2007. TGS acquired 1000 KM of offshore seismic as well. Later during a stopover in Dallas, the Minister briefed the Somaliland Community on the current situation of the country during a luncheon hosted in his honor by Safia Abdulahi of Awdal Charity Services, Inc, and Kayse Noor Ahmad, the Minister. He urged the community members who attended the luncheon to invest in their home country to create business for themselves and create jobs for Somaliland people. The Minister and his entourage thanked the Somaliland community for their hospitality. Later the Minister departed from Dallas and Forth worth international airport for London. Parts of the report was also contributed by Kayse Noor Ahmad Dallas, Texas. Kayse71@hotmail.com

The harebrainedness displayed by some folks here is beyond silly and borders insanity and cuqdad-nafsi. I posted a news item which I thought was an interesting development since this basically is a case of: tolka oo xabashi tolnimodii ka doortay. But here comes the usual crowd and they spend their few minutes dissecting Somaliland instead of addressing the issue at hand. Some folks even went as far as trying to rebuff "phantom" arguments that I've made, when in fact I haven't even shared my opinion on this as of yet. Classic! Anyways, lets go back to the issue and think about it a little. Some folks compared it to Somaliland's case when 25 alleged ONLF members were caught "allegedly" smugling weapons from Eritrea through Djibouti and Somaliland. But those same folks who have brought up that argument here have forgotten the fact that the alleged ONLF members were brought before a rule of court and after extensive 2 year investigation 24 of the 25 were released free. 1 of them died while in custody from natural causes. Now, where is the rule of law in Puntland? Ragga saqda dhexe hotelka lagala baxay ee xabashi loo dhiibay, is in my view the most dispeakable of all acts of "Rendition". Now lets discuss and grow up from personification of the issue, shall we.

source, Statement On Puntland's Abduction & Extraordinary Rendition of ONLF Officials 24 April 2008 The ****** National Liberation Front (ONLF) strongly condemns the forced abduction, detention and extraordinary rendition of two ONLF Central Committee members by the Puntland regional administration in Somalia on 22nd of April 2008. This act constitutes a clear violation of the United Nations Convention Against Torture and other Forms of Cruel, Inhumane, or Degrading Treatment as the two officials have a clear and well founded fear of persecution including torture in Ethiopia. The two ONLF political prisoners were removed by force from their hotel in Garowe in central Somalia by security forces of the Puntland administration. After intense interrogation, they were then driven in the personal vehicle of the Puntland Minister of Finance Mohamed Ali Yusuf "Ga Gaab" to Ethiopian security forces waiting for them on the ****** side of the border with Somalia. One of the ONLF officials was in Puntland to protest the deliberate killing of a citizen of ****** by Puntland security forces in a jail in the northern city of Bosaaso and to assist his family members. He was in regular contact with Puntland officials who never objected to his presence. The other ONLF official was in Puntland visiting his spouse and children. Both were unarmed political figures and posed no threat to the security of Puntland. The ONLF considers this act to constitute a clear hostile intent on the part of the Puntland regional administration toward the people of ******. The consequences of this action shall be the sole responsibility of the Puntland regional administration. ****** National Liberation Front (ONLF)

Birth in a Nation: African Hospital Founder Describes Conditions
Suldaanka replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in General
Edna Adan is a true legend. Ilaahay cimri dheer iyo cafiimad ha u siyaadiye. She built two hospitals for women and kids in Mogadishu and Hargeisa. The Mogadishu one which was built in the 1980s was last occupied by a warlord as a his HQs. The Hargeisa Meternity hospital which she founded with her pensioner money today serves as a referal hospital for the whole Somali speaking peoples. People come all the way from Southern Somalia to Ethiopia's kilka-shanaad to recieve mostly free medical attention. The latest patient to benefit from the hospital is this poor woman from Diinsoor. Shockingly, the poor woman from Diinsoor was pregnant for 2 years and the Doctors managed to removed a mostly healthy girl from her. ilaahay amarkii dheh!!! -
^ Why are you trying to make this a big fuzz about? This is an honest question. I am sure many other SOL members do actually want to know the answer to that same question. Che can always choose to let the mystery continue, though.

Nephthys But you are still beating around the bushes. You don't have to imagine anything. It is real. And unlike some of the folks in here, as Jacaylka said it the doctors in Dhahar do, in fact, appreciate it. Horseed Media: Arimihii Gobolka Sool ka waran Dad badan ayaa hadal haya oo mudo Maamulka Somaliland ayaa gacanta ku haya Gobolkaas. MDPL.Cade Muuse: Arinta Sool waa Arin aad u mihiim ah, Puntland iyo Shacakeeda ayey utalaa sidii loo xalin lahaa arimahaas, waxii talaabo ah oo aan ka qaadan lahayna Arinta Gobolka Sool sida wada jir ah ayaan Talaabo uga qaadanaynaa Shacab iyo Dawlada ahaanba In Sha-allaahna arinta Gobolka Sool waa xalismaysaa oo waa soo dhamaanaysaa. The tough talking Bling-bling Uusey (I love the name btw ), ma calaacalkan ayaa u danbaysay? Where is the "Asmara iyo Argagaxiso ayaa qabsaday Laaska" nonsense?

Malika Fair enough. But let me know when you have had your turn yourself. Originally posted by Nephthys: People in dire need tend not to care where the aid comes from as long as it comes. Let the people who are on the ground in the cholera zone commentate on this. Not political hacks sitting far from the outbreak. I wish Dhahar folks, a speedy recovery and many thanks to all medical personnel. This is not about the people my dearest. This is a dig at the Puntland administration (if it still exists that is ) just stone throw's across the border. I presume, You know where Dhahar is located. It is the most easterly town just around 20 or 30 KM from the border. And as the article says it, the Puntland administration and as well as the NGO's etc never even acknowledged the humanitarian situation in the city nearby. That is the issue here.

Gudoomiye Cali Sandule waa asal Somalilander. Nin daacad u ah wadankiisa iyo dadkiisa. Hats off to him. -
^^ These folks remind me of the old song Dadbay meeli buktaa... The article is from Puntland website, the man who they quoted is a resident and a doctor in Dhahar. Now, what does that got to do with Somaliland propaganda?? folks, appreciate it.
