Constant daily Curfews and harrasments and Unfair Taxation were imposed on SNM-clan run businesses so that they would go out of business quickly What makes you think your outlined method will work when the Siyad Barre's backfired, especialy when the anti-Somaliland forces are in such a dismall state politically, economically and militarily when compared to Siyad Barre's era.

Very strong kick off of the elections campaigns by UDUB. The thing I like about this is that each party is allocated a day to own the streets and airwaves and anything in between. The events that took place in what used to be Southern districts of Togdheer region was purely coincidental. As you might be aware of, Somaliland is currently in a drive to replace voter and ID cards. The SL army helped the National Electrol Commision to bring the new cards to Souther Sool region just recently taking the process to Kalabaydhka village which is about 50KM south of Laascaanood. In the same way, the SL army was helping the NEC again in Buuhoodleh district. On the Ethiopian issue, they were doing their own seperate operations which was relating to the elections that took place on Sunday. The little skirmish that took place in Buuhoodle was started after the Ethiopians banned vehicles from entering or leaving Buuhoodle. In a nutshell, the events coincided at the same times but they are totally different and have no relations or links whatsoever.

The opposite could have been a shocker. In the olden days, the UN was so misinformed that it used to spend a lot of time trying to convince SL to attend a conference like this. But that doesn't happen nowadays and the reason is that Somaliland position vis-a-vis these conference is very clear.
