Somaliland's Presidential elections campaigns begin. UCID started with a bang.

@Peace Action said: The Somali government does have a lot of power but they are wise enough not to use it against Somaliland in the hope of stability, peace and reconciliation. What is needed is cooperation in the areas of peace and development and leave secession issues for the future. Yemen conflict is not a long term issue. The UAE is trying to block Turkey from coming to Somaliland after the talks are concluded. Berbera is a very strategic military wise. Other powers that are eyeing include Russia. There is a delegation from Somaliland that was invited to Russia recently. With regards to FGS, the only power they have is a seat in the UN. And a seat in the UN does not necessarily mean they have legal control over Somaliland. If FGS escalates the issue to the International Court, that will be a golden opportunity for Somaliland to challenge the legality of FGS in relation to 1960s union. As far as Somaliland, any new deal that the Warlords of Somalia agreed on in Kenya which this FGS is based on, does not bind to Somaliland. The international community of which the EU, US & UK understand this very fact. Which is why they deal with Somaliland as a de facto entity waiting for a binding settlement with Mogadishu.
