This post is one for the archives. I am going to save this one for reference, after 4 years. Hopefully our highly esteemed Unionist will be around these forums.

They are coming to congratulate Somaliland for its well done peaceful transfer of power. They are also here to upgrade their existing relationship with Somaliland.

The point has been made. No need to explain further. And coming back to your posts, it is well known Khat is an additive substance and like all other addictions, the users of this substance show many different forms of withdrawal behaviours. There is nothing new about this fact. It is not like a Khat chewer in Hargeisa is any more or less addicted than the one from Mogadishu or Nairobi or anywhere else. If you were trying to get that point across, then you are only making a fool out of yourself. The point of my post is related to the tax increase which is having exactly the intended outcome, driving people away from Khat use or making it harder for Khat users to afford it.

All of Somaliland regions have something going for it. From Awdal where rare Earth metals like beryllium has been found in commercial quantities near Symodi mountains. To Maroodijex where the world's second largest deposits of Gemstone, after Madagascar, is located. To Sahel, Togdheer and Sool where there are proven Crude Oil seeps found over the ground. This country is blessed with natural resources.

Amhara don't need you, neither the Oromos. However, the TPLF need you politically - not so much militarily, in order to ward off the more numerous challengers. Therefore it is a very simple logical conclusion. One thing is for certain that folks like yourself would rather turn a blind eye to. And that is Ethiopia will remain Ethiopia regardless of whether TPLF rule or new Derg make a return. The powers that be would not want to see otherwise. In fact, the powers that be will be willing to commit whatever it takes, including military intervention to keep Ethiopia the way it is. Therefore, I would suggest Somalis to fully jump on the TPLF bandwagon and help keep the status-quo and in return demand big change in the way Ethiopia sees Somali region's development. The alternative is very dire, specially Oromo coming to power.

For about a month now the nomads of Northern Sanaag have been in gold rush. It seems people will not go back empty handed from few grams to few kilograms of gold, everyone is striking rich.

It is really great when, despite lack of formal recognition and lack of a seat on the UN, these kind of issues are very few and far in between. Somaliland is not 100% there for sure, but it is very close to be 100% sovereign. Somaliland is having a success at knocking down the Arab iron curtain. The only thing that needs some work is the dinosaurs of this world i.e. Africa Union, African Development Bank.

ONLF man rips through the coward Farmaajo. Raises great question.

If this agreement leads to the release of Qalbi-Dhagax, that will be nightmare scenario for Mr. Cheeseman and Co.

All I am saying is, long after Somaliland and Somalia's issues are resolved, done and dusted and they go their separate ways. Long after most of the other regions of Somalia assume their normalcy... The following regions will still be under foreign occupation: Bay, Bakool & Gedo regions. And in many ways Mogadishu will also be remotely controlled from a number of regional capitals including Addis Abeba, Nairobi and Kampala.
