That is what I thought first. But a person privy the deals has confirmed that the investments and manufacturing/packaging will be done in Somaliland. The products will be 'Made in Somaliland' and Taiwan will be the primary customer. I think that is the best deal one can get.

Taiwan's newly appointed representative and Taiwan's business development liaisons officer have held talks with Somaliland's Central Bank. Discussions include how Taiwan and Somaliland can harmonise currency reserves, whereby Taiwan will buy a pilot $100 million USD worth of SL shillings and Somaliland will exchange the same worth of Taiwanese Dollars in fishing, natural resources license offering. The idea is to by-pass the costly hard currency exchanges and utilise local currency when doing business at either country. Somaliland will use the Taiwanese dollars to buy Good and Services from Taiwan. And Taiwanese companies will be able to pay local employees and local fuel/energy etc needs using Somaliland's shillings.

It is actually an investment. And like all investments, it can go either way. But so far, it is worth it. OO, Somalia is no Russia nor China. It is a failed state. It is a joke to even be talking about Kosovo or Taiwan in the same sentence as Somalia. The situation is very different. Here, there is no state called Somalia. It is being put together by external forces. And because of that, to address the Somaliland issue, those external powers are afraid that all the effort and investiments of baby-sitting and diaper changing will be lost and the humpty-dumpty may fall apart. That is the essentially what it is. I am 110% confident that Somaliland will get its independence. The failed state of Somalia cannot stop it. Some of the jokes that make the rounds here and there is that Villa AMISom can setup a State for Sool and Sanaag. It is a joke. But I think just to rest this case, Cheeseman should really listen to these voices and exclaim that state. Just so we can all see where it ends up.

Taiwan was one of the first countries to invest in China as it openned its economy up. They own majority of the manufacturing inside China. Go figure. As of recently Tiawan has been busy turning Veitnam into a manufacturing hub that can compete China on cheap products. The idea is to turn Berbera the new Shanghai of Africa where small scale manufacturing can be done at much lower cost using cheap Ethiopian labour. That will require cheap electricity and fuel costs. Which is one of the first pillars that this agreement will address... by investing in renewal energy sources like storage battery dams, solar and wind energy to produce sufficient around the clock electricity that is cheap and renewable. Somaliland has the perfect location for pumped storage electricity generation. The coastal Sanaag near Maydh is close to the sea and also close to high elivated land (2km high). By building a dam up the hill and pumping the sea water during the day using Wind Energy/Solar pumps. And releasing that water during the night to generate electricity when the Sun is not available. That is in the realm of possibility.

This is just the start... Africans are scared for themselves but once they get used to the idea, things will change.

This is beyond what the Pirates can comprehend or understand - As MP Indho would say "this is the era of star wars". This relationship between Taiwan and Somaliland has been going on for the past couple of years and is now at a stage where it needs to move to the next level. The plan is to transform the region and make Somaliland an exemplar for development and progress. China cannot do anything to Somaliland. We have no relationship with that disease manufacturing of a country. They do buy out other African countries to cut ties with Taiwan. If they want us to cut ties with Taiwan, they better comes with the goods and a deal too good to refuse. In any case, there are huge geopolitical changes from the fall out of the Corona Virus (China Virus as Trump would say) to counter and contain China. Somaliland is aligning itself with those winds.
