The club has originally been built by the British during colonial era and was accessible only on membership basis . It was later changed into military officers club with limited access to the civilians by the socialist military government of Siyad Barre after the 1969 military take over . Lodging areas were also added during the early 1980s after the Somali tourist agency was given the lease to run the club. After secession, Hargeisa club was turned into a hotel and leased to the private agencies by the Somaliland government. Religious leaders in Somaliland will object to the opening of a dance hall in the country let alone opening a pub. The only dance hall that had existed for months was located at Ming Sing near Hargeisa club but was attacked on several occasions by religious leaders with the help of the local police. The hall was eventually closed by the management of Ming Sing restaurant after continuous harassment and night raids . Alcohol is prohibited in Somaliland although it is sold by smugglers through the out country in the black market . Most of the black market alcohol comes from Ethiopia while some legally come from Djibouti for NGOs , diplomatic missions and the elites. Tallabo, Puntland architecture has a long way to go. Especially Bosaso and Galkayo who seem to just copy the next business building style and not come with something original. I want to see more glass towers in bosaso and galkayo

Other projects are on the way for Bosaso. Im looking forward to these two I think all the telecommunication and banking sectors should lift up they're game in Bossaso. We are surely lacking behind mogadishu and hargeisa in that aspect. Big projects worth multi million dollars. Its mainly our business community abroad who are not returning to invest which is very sad. Whats happened with mogadishu and hargeisa relationship, it seems to be going downhill since the explosion of faysal ali waraabe on somali channel on hamar and his other outbursts about the ppl of that city being treated like gaal. Siilanyo also has been showing anomoysity withdrawing somaliland health officials from a european conference on Somalia and banning u.n flights in somaliland. This simmering tensions is clearly spilling onto SOL with all these rape and violent threads being thrown at each other. Nune puntland has tanks, has bms, has technicals, has armed f450s, has soldier moving trucks, has a coastal guard, has an airforce consisting of jet fighters, armed warplanes and helicopters. Has sophiscated military, police and naval command centers. Its the strongest at the moment but I think with the shipment that hamar recieved recently plus its ongoing developments in the security sector Puntland could be left behind.
