Sounds like a big waste to me. Instead of building huge building to fawn over, perhaps we should focus on preserving nature, which is more glorious than anything we could build.

Can Muslim Attend the funeral of non muslim?
Sherban Shabeel replied to SayidSomal's topic in General
Khayr, I fail to see the comparison between a person from a different faith and a pedophile/rapist/serial killer. But just to answer your silly question: If the dead person was a pedophile, or a child killer, or someone who tortures animals, I probably wouldn't be coming to the funeral. I'd probably be in prison for killing the *******. If the dead person was a serial killer, maybe, maybe not. Depends on what you consider a serial killer. I'd have attended Saddam's funeral if I could have, for instance. If the dead person was a rapist, depends on who it was. I'd attend Mike Tyson's funeral even if he did rape that woman. Just to break it down for you, one goes to pay his/her respects to a dead person if two conditions are fulfilled (unless it's a family obligation or something): 1. That person meant something to you 2. During that person's *ADULT* life, that person didn't do something that can NEVER be reconciled with your principles (such as, for me, hurting children or being cruel to animals). Maybe to you, belonging to another religion (or sexual orientation) is unforgivable. To me it ain't. End of story. I hope you're not an actual sheikh, because that means standards have gotten pretty lax nowadays. God is all-forgiving and all-loving, whereas man is a petty, miserable creature. Thank you for illustrating that last point so well. -
I am not as big an expert as certain people on this forum, but my perception is that Somalis had an identity before Islam. They held on to it and mixed it with their new identity as Muslims. In most Muslim countries, pre-Islamic customs and traditions still exist, just as in most Christian countries, pagan traditions and customs still exist (or were even assimilated into the new religion). It's relatively easy to get a group of people to change their religion, or political allegiance, or their leader. But language and customs are very, very, very difficult to change.

Can Muslim Attend the funeral of non muslim?
Sherban Shabeel replied to SayidSomal's topic in General
Jeez, you really think God would hold it against you that you went to a non-Muslim's funeral? Use your own mind and reasoning that God has bestowed upon you, and stop looking towards others for guidance. What, you're afraid your soul is going to catch a disease or something? If you're a Muslim you're a Muslim. Attending a funeral, or being in a church, or whatever, you're still going to be a good Muslim at the end of the day. I'm a Christian, I've been to mosques, I have a Somali/Arabic Qur'an, and I'm still a Christian. A religion isn't something that just falls off you like a hat in the wind. I say, think about it really well, and then make up your mind, regardless of my personal opinion or the personal opinion of people on this forum. Me, personally, I believe I am a human being above anything else, and I will go to the funeral of someone who has been kind to me in life, no matter their religion or rituals. Kindness and decency, to me, trump religious denomination. Might not be the case for everyone. P.S.: If you guys don't come to my funeral, I'll be pretty pissed I think -
Sad Day for Poland And Even Sadder We Somalis Don't Know It!

This bickering over dead people does none of us justice. God rest their souls and that's that. -

Too bad you can't issue fatwas in my religion. I'd have the time of my life! -
lol where's the pirate thread now?
-
Is B old man Ndongo's script then?
-
That's BS. Vices introduce themselves, they don't need people to introduce them, and to blame it all on piracy is plain simplistic thinking. These are just the jealous cats who aren't getting any money. I bet Prez Farole would like nothing more than to jump in a skiff and get some pirate money, but he can't because he's the President of PL. Can you blame him? Hell, I'd like nothing more than to jump in a skiff and get some pirate money.

Originally posted by Mr. Somalia: ^ Ina Ducaale, that is very easy to answer... Firstly of all, unlike the petty puerile ninnies of Marfishland, we Puntlanders, like real men, never keep grudges like y'all. And unlike y'all, we are incapable of having any feelings of rancor for long periods of time. For real men fight and real men make peace . But punk pussies like y'all, choose instead to everlastingly cry foul and impertinently demand reparations in the form of silly secession and the pursuit of the break up of our country, as indemnity for the damage or supposed injury suffered during the early years of the Somali civil war. But I've got news for you hombre... your clan alone did not suffer in the civil war: Many other clans too, have suffered more horrendous atrocities and in fact, even today many others continue to do so. So answer me this-- what makes you think that your clan is so exceptional,so extraordinary, so important that you feel you ought to be treated differently when you are, in fact, in the same boat as every other Somali out there? This is why Cabdi Qeybdiid is welcome in Gaalkacyo and any other place else in Somalia. That some Somalis fought in the past, does not mean that Somalis will always remain at loggerheads with one another. Spoken like a true man.
