Censorship, ah the nostalgia. A friend showed me a pic of the 2 of us back in Dubai from oh-so-long ago last night. We were so cute, hugging and smiling. Sniff. Those were the days. Every 4-legged halal creature u can dream of Orgilaqe! Chew properly.

Awww, bless. Inshallah you and your family will be healthy, prosperous and wealthy(hehe) in the Gulf. Enjoy. Safe journey.

I don't find her hot but I think that's a good thing. For every kind of woman there's a man that'll drool. Ah, romance. Now wipe the drool off the screen boys. There. This post should come with a warning: danger of electrocution...

The new improved site does not allow for name-calling. Remember that, newbie when u get emotional about your Horn. If u're proud of that mess called Somalia write a book, '101 reasons why I love Somalia'. I'll but it for the laugh. Somalis have always left their homeland, long before the conflict. If it was so good why were people leaving? I was taken by my parents to a better life; you were probably chased out by your own people, no? Yeah, something to be proud of. Dude, you did the running. Not me. Flirt here and there hopefully that will make her day Baashi. So this is the new you.

Sheherazade Only if you weren't too cynical, it's only our country tearing itself apart(applicable only if u r somali-gurl). Easy on the 'our' and 'girl'. Somalia was never mine. I was whisked away as a baby. It's been nothing but a nuisance and/or a nuisance ever since. I'm not one of those that refers to the land-that-shredded-itself as 'dhulki'. How about you(and those that wave whichever flag of choice) make the violence and tribalism uncool. Start with yourself- gang-talk won't crack(pun) it.

Pink for Her. Blue for Him. Flush. Keep the rest for future 'friends' that step out of line. -
I don't visit there really. What's so cool about gangsta? Isn't that so 1990s?
-
Morning 7. They didn't delete you then? Good to see the Troll Mistress again. I am so very jealous of your long weekend in Barcelona. Don't be modest and pretend you got that 'tan' in your back yard. Orgilaqe, WTH are u still doing in the UK? U just had to conquer Snowdonia. Make sure u tell the Arabs about the snow in Snowdonia and the Abominable Snowman/Yeti/Big Foot(take yr pick) that u hunted and carried down(hence aching shoulders). They like macho-types.
-
Marvellous. Why the shoulder ache? Carrying an orgi? Ka ma maarmo.
-
Those that care, those that pretend to care, those that plot future mayhem, those that build castles in the air, they all exist here Knock yourself out.

a lil caution goes a long way.

Y'all make me wanna go back and take a nibble.

Orgilaqe, keep us posted when u get to the Middle East.We seem to have lost some of out reps there. Sigh. Oh, and enjoy the climb. My kind of thing. I had a craving for biscuits and walked into a Turkish grocery store. There were so many biscuits I couldn'tmake my mind up what I was in the mood for. I scanned the shelves: digestives, custard cream, cookies, negros, crackers, wait negros? I take a step closer and sure enough there is a biscuit called 'negro'. I pick it up. Cocoa biscuit with vanilla filling. Black on the outside, white on the inside. Oreos except they're negroes in Turkey. I couldn't bring myself to bite into a negro. Cheer up everyone. It's miserable in here.

He has a conservative sister. Whachudoin Ngonge?

UD, if u do visit a khat house, be sure to wear protective clothing and a mask. Take a sample of whatever you touch so if you pass away that night(more like early next morn) your family will at least know what it was. And they'll then start campaigning for the banning of khat and the closing of khat houses in the UK. Sigh. I've been told of a particularly foul one where the resident life forms have developed complex nervous systems(no, not the men themselves unfortunately). You'll be doing us a favour, innit? Enjoy the autumnal weather.

A few months ago I left this place in the pursuit of a more productive life. Haha. I returned for some much needed entertainment. Somalis are funny, whether they have a sense of humour or not and whether it isn't even funny ha-ha we are talking about. But I haven't been this unentertained by SOL ever. Not to mention being bored by the snap-snap of gogarad elastic. Some times it's not worth the bother even if u feel wronged or unheard. Will everyone just move on? Stay, leave just drop it. Ngonge, how dare you reveal my PMs to the public forum! Where's Admin? Growl. P.S: I had just joined another forum when I read this. A girl's gotta get her online entertainment somewhere.. Chill folks.

U ask their son/daughter to tell them to butt out. If they don't or it doesn't work, you tell them yourself. Expecting a control freak not to do what he/she does best is a pipe dream. Once a control freak always a control freak. Be polite but firm.

Since you both promised to get married after graduation what part of you not having yet graduated does he not understand? 3 semesters is not that long a time for him to wait. He's waited 6 years. You're right, it's not easy to juggle study and marriage. It's down to the two people supporting one another. If he can't be flexible enough to wait until you're done, how flexible will he be later? Home boy needs to chill. You need to tell him to chill. If he's pushing you to get married b4 you graduate have u considered that it might be him breaking his promise and not you? People have a way of making promises and then introducing modifications later on and burdening you with their new outlook. What was your initial deal? If your intial plan was that you both complete your education b4 marriage, you have a no brainer on your hands. It's your heart that has to catch up. I've seen this kind of thing b4 and unless you are both exceptional people, one of you will be seriously disappointed after marriage. Pray that it goes well. Remember though no one can bring you happiness or make your dreams come true but you. Don't fool yourself and don't be fooled by him. P.S: if u ask me, you already know. What we say will not swing your decision. Be happy. -

Get over it. Viking, in the UK education is far cheaper than it is in the States although things are changing. The array of courses available here are mind boggling. If a young man is not motivated enough to improve his mind, his financial position, his immediate family's, what friggin chance will a woman who married him for his character have of getting anywhere but backwards? Good character does not nullify irresponsibilty. Pizza delivery out of necessity is one thing- I've had my share of woeful work- but to stay stagnant is shameful.

mee soconee adaa soo celiyey!! Is it raging-hormones season on SOL again?

Thanks for the link girlfriend. I'll be reading them all. Fidel, don't mess with Hibo, she'll make u change yr nick to Castro.

Boy don't u drag common sense into this! Must u be a total ignoramus? Do u know what they do to people who speak of sense? Be hanged, u. P.S: good topic.

Within Somalis hasn't it mostly been boys that have been encouraged to study and achieve? I've heard eedo, ii garaac, taken the upside-down piece of paper and dialled too many times. How did those men deal with wives who couldn't read as well as them if at all? How did our society function with the imbalance? Wait, did it... All that is changing. The men are where the women were yesterday. The young girls who have seen the illiterate women are embracing education, even if they will never do anything with it, i.e find work. The women probably already out number the young men in higher education. What's striking is that these men have the opportunity available to them whereas women in the past probably would not have had either the opportunity nor a social environment conducive to women thinking out loud let alone knowledge gathering. So what is it with these young men? It's simple, really. They think they're MEN and that that is all there is to it. They're men and a woman however educated will always be a woman. A Somali pizza deliverer will boast that his wife doesn't need to cook so much as he always brings home the rejected pizza at the end of the day. Fidel, do not concern yourself with your girls. Work on your sons. Make them men. Real men. By God there's a drought.

Orgilaqe my sense of humour is intact. It helps me deal with the fact I was born a Somali. We're not going anywhere fast as a people are we when one half is good for nothing and the other half is good for the other half?
