^ Faarax....waxani waa suspicious. If no one in sol heard of it......majirto walee. Hada adaa lagaa warsugi. Lakiin if its xawala why the hell are they calling it "Bank"? and yeah links don't work other than where you log in.

I recently came across the Universal Bank of Somalia (UBSOM), a commercial bank that was launched on January 2002. The bank is owned by Somalis in partnership with foreign investors in Europe according to online sources. I never heard of this bank or saw it in the Somali online media? do any of you heard of this bank? did you ever use it? anyway here is what is online. I don't even know if it is still operational. The official bank here Media Release for UBSOMclaims UBSOM Global Services is the first Internet bank in Somalia to provide ACH, ETF, Electronic Checks, and ATM card for clients around the world. Current Global Service Members include Abbey National, Bank of America, Bank of Montreal, JPMorgan Chase, Citibank N.A., Mellon Financial Corporation, and European Savings Banks Group. Somalitalk had this The bank’s debut started on a sour note after the head of the inactive Central Bank of Somalia termed it an “illegal establishment†because it had not applied for a license. ^This shows UBSOM is different from the now somewhat defunct CBSOM.

The investigation revealed that Klan members were in the military, including two at NORAD who controlled the triggers for nuclear weapons. ^That is scary. I wonder how many kkk members are in important positions in this country? Abraar Inadeer mahadsanid it's been a long time. I'm trying to cutback the selfish habit of lurking. Anyway, you still didn't send those pictures back? share nooh

Originally posted by LayZieGirl: Khalid, this is the most insane thing I have read by far in SOL, I mean no one can beat this besides you. ^Dramatic majirin, non the less accomplishment I guess! Horta isdaji, diabetes is not new to me or to other Somalis. We know how serious it is (just this wk NYT had lengthy article). There is no Somali I know who his family or someone they know doesn’t have diabetes, it reached crisis proportion here. Now I believe my uncle because he had this disease over 10yrs and depended on insulin. But after using the sowdah and eating normal meals his blood sugar didn’t change. He apparently consulted with his doctor, who performed numerous tests and found no trace of diabetes. His doctor advised him to discontinue insulin as long my uncle checked his blood sugar daily and detected no change. So do you still insist I not trust him? Pardon if I agree with the doctor. Let’s even move away from the habba-sowdah, are you insisting there is only one way to treat diabetes? Not so. Although there is no cure for diabetes, treatment solely depends on your doctor, different treatment work for different people. Many doctors backed by research claim good diet and exercise only can sometimes be used to control diabetes, what you say about that? Anyway this is one method that worked for him, you don't have to like it or agree with it. Unless you can get hold of this seed and research and find it has no effact on diabetes you can hold off on the weak tirade. I would suggest even for you to run over to your halal store and get this sowdah to your relative ASAP , as diabetics can use anything that can alleviate their suffering! . Type 1 diabetes is no joke. Compare to what my relative has, which is type 2,,,,, and you talk of INSULIN type, which is even more serious than the type 2, ^^They are both as serious and there are many people who have type 2 and still use insulin.

^^Bishaaro...leave them alone, this whole thread has been comedy . Besides, experienced folks are sharing best practices with young bloods. It's a good thing! Anyway, This medicine works for a lot of things. One of my uncles claims habba-sowdah cured his diabetes. After depending on insulin for so many years. He tried this and worked for him. He now eats plate full of hilib ari and bariis or basta and his blood sugar does not increase, whils b4 he use to only eat boiled chicken & brocoli?......miracle wallahi.

Originally posted by STOIC: Seriously is there a science major(Neuroscientist/Cell biologist) in those Somali elites? Am not looking down upon art majors from this elite instituitons but heck the difficulty of the course load counts  ! Actually, saxiib these “elite†schools are not necessary academically harder. At least US graduate programs, grades are inflated to maintain school rankings. Employers rank schools based on students’ transcripts. So professors are pressured by admin to inflate grades for rankings. In fact sometimes they are using same textbooks as your local state college.

This show is a step down for him and doesn’t need Donald salary. Randal is already multi-millionaire. He is just pulling a publicity stunt on the show and exposure for his name and companies. I just hope he gets fired before he does something stup*d. Matter in fact, all the candidates on this season are already established career wise!

^^This seems off, how can China and Somalia have the same level of corruption!

Folks, Stop being sensative nomads. This is his own experience traveling in a foreign country. Forget Berbera, Somalis in North America act much much worst towards other people. Besides, it proves his point when we attack his posts or him, just because we disagree with him. I think we are used to sugarcoated write-ups and pictures and when anyone (no less a foreigner)says something different, you say they hate us? take that outa here. You can't expect every foreiner to accept or write favorably about our culture, when some parts of our culture are as messed up!

An American relates his experience traveling back home, places like Jigjiga, Hargaisa, Berbara! Read the postscript comment at the bottom. Apperantly, some Somalis didn't like his take on the situation back home  . Click Here

Qurux...... Studying abroad will be hard first few days/months cuz you will feel lonely, but just make sure you make contacts before you get there. Check if there are Somalis there, if not, check for other international students, maybe British students. Talking to people ahead and knowing people before you get there should help a great deal. Also, once you get there, just immerse yourself with school activities, joining org and clubs will speed your integration with other students and the states in general. I hope that helps, anyway if you're interested, there is a Somali girl in Goergetown, I can try to get her email for you. ps, I think the best thing for a student to do is study abroad once! You made a good decision, have fun.

Mayada......Welcome to sol and Minnesota There is a goat farm with a slaughterhouse in Eagan(15miles from mpls). You can pick any goat among the herd and slaughter it yourself. Just go to your nearest halal meat store and ask owners about goat farms around the city, I'm sure there are few. Good luck

This is nonsense, the U.N already offered assistance, atleast their expertise in disaster relieve, and the U.S reponse has been..............non, zip, no response at all!

Where are the WHITE people in this disaster? I don't know whats more tragic, Hurricane Katrina or the lack of response from the government. The gov is acting like this is some foreign country disaster that they need to gear up for. The victims don’t need houses, cars, buses etc. For gods sake they need food and water, people are dying of hunger and dehydration. It's been three days already and people don't even have food and water. Director of FEMA (gov. agency for disaster relieve) denied the extent of the crises this afternoon on NPR and basically called a reporter liar, just because he didn’t get “official reports†of what the reporter was talking about. Why aren't black leaders making a fuss out of this! Read this...btw, this is in addition to twenty thousand in the superdome. "There are, I estimate, 2,000 people living like animals inside the city convention center and around it," Burnett says. "They've been there since the hurricane. There's no food. There's absolutely no water, there's no medical treatment. There's no police and no security. And there are two dead bodies lying on the ground and in a wheelchair beside the convention center -- both elderly people, both covered with blankets now." "Joanne Silberner, NPR's health policy correspondent, reports that a text message sent from inside Tenet's Memorial Medical Center suggests that the hospital has had no contact with outside authorities, and nine people have died already. And outside calls aren't going through to Charity Hospital or Tulane University Hospital" Read NPR blog here
